No its not compatible. As for the difference they're different technology. If you want to know specifics I'm sure Google has your answer

Is ICS available for S II HD LTE already? there was announced it should be released till the end of the quarter.
As well, could you please report HIDSWVER and product code for your device? The purpose is to download stock ROM for i757m and try to adapt it to korean S II HD LTE (E120 L/K/S).
Thanks beforehand.
Any progress on this?
I just picked up a samsung s2 HD LTE and didn't even notice it wasn't ICS in the store.
I'm VERY tempted to take it back, love the phone, HATE the battery life, and HATE gingerbread (comparatively)... I am really starting to miss my Hd7.
What can I do to help?
I'm already emailing Bell and Samsung to let them know of my concerns - squeeky wheel, right fellas?
How do I report those numbers to you?
Is love to see a port of the south Korean Ics to ours

according to bell
according to my conversation with a Bell tech support employee, the update for the SGH-i757M is scheduled to be available in July 2012. via Kies or Over The Air update.
According to a very similar conversion I can second that info...and add, quote "but at the last meeting, the techs were reporting being ahead of schedule"

S3 custom ROMs are so less. Why?

As a S3 uesr, I am very worried about the numbers of custom ROM.
Yesterday I saw a ROM for S3 which is named BackToBasics. But dropbox is busy.
What is the difference between S3 and S4 ROM? Can we make it by ourselves?
Thanks!

You have to have development knowledge to make any rom. The S3 One S has a different chipset (duh) than the S4 One S and less users have it. ROMs are not compatible with both.
Just wait a bit s3 one s is being sold more than the s4 version so we should get more support in the future.

The S3 just got its first custom recovery a week or so ago, ROMs will come. Until HTC releases the Ville C3 with AMD K6-2 CPU in select markets in Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas that is.
Please thank this post, if you want TrickDroid for the S3 (just want to see how many people are interested and if it's worth it)

But why would you buy a phone with last generation tech in a next generation world? Unless it is a specialty phone--Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note--you'd be better off waiting until the newer model is within your grasp.
I might be wrong, but I thought this was how most people thought when it came to technology? I imagine the anguish of people who bought the S4 model only to find out it had been replaced with an older processor when they were sent back to the factory or the anger of people who see their friends with the original model, love it, and rush out to buy it only to find they've, again, gotten the ''New and Improved'' model.
HTC's S3 model will not become more popular. It will be the reason why people leave the phone or the brand.
EDIT: I should bring up that if you have your S4 model replaced by HTC. You can call them and request that they replace the replacement with the model you originally bought.
Tbf it isn't the stock s3 cpu it has been improve with better battery life and performance so isn't as big gap as u think there is. And I have played with an s4 one s and I have the s3 and from when I played with it there was no difference between the two they did a good job with the s3 version off the phone it is the best and fastest and most smooth phone I have had I'm loving my one s s3.

I'm quite confused on that. The reason that the S4 is better isn't due to the clock settings. It's due to it being a newer 28mm platform. Improved battery life over other S3 phones doesn't mean much to me when I get 6+ hours of screen time as the average for the S4. [My latest is 9:20 hours of use]
I know this cuts both ways--I'll say this so you don't have too: ''It's the same for you''--but just because you think the S3 is fine doesn't mean other people will. The Questions section is a large showcase of this. People complaining that they got the S3 or wondering how they could tell if it was the S3. The fact--I say quite poshly--is that you're paying the same amount of money for a worse phone. Doesn't matter how big or small the gap is, you're still paying for less.
Sorry if I come off negatively, but this is something I'm quite passionate about. I believe that everyone should be given the phone that was originally released. A phone other people still get to use. For HTC to shaft my brothers of the globe is--in my eyes--a travesty.
The people who don't know the difference between the two models won't be on xda. Therefore it won't become more popular on xda. People on xda or those who do now he difference will buy the s4.

Still a good device, but not as good as it should be for a "flagship"

Being that S4 is indeed better, but for HTC.. there will not be a lot of S4 produced because there short on parts thus the S3 will come around more. The S4 is like experimental.. S3 tho will be more wide ranged.. I will still stick w the S4 tho... Better chips.

Nice post, but the odd part is - some of us uses a different band for the LTE spec (i.e. in Hong Kong we use 1800 and 2600Mhz for LTE). I wonder if this unit will have such radio.

Thanks. I think I'll be getting this phone next week. I hope I don't regret it.
I'm considering buying the i9305. currently on the HTC One S, which is losing support fast. I would also like the memory stick adapter. I don't know if I'm going to wait to see a cyanogen release or jump the gun today. Anyone suggest a good site to grab this thing; cheapest I've seen is on negri electronics

So if you find it around that price you might aswell get it. Once you have it PM me and ill give you advice on root/mods/tweaks etc..
done. Now the waiting game begins. Hopefully Cyanogenmod 10 comes comes out before I even get it in my hands. I'll finally be able to carry around more of my music and not be limited by f'n Hboot

Vodafone users can register your interest in the new Galaxy phone online, with pricing to be determined at a later date.

Im actually happy about this. Because we'll have better support with AOSP based ROMs... And I don't think there will be a noticable difference between those two battery wise and performance unless you did a benchmark. But when it comes to real worl performance apps arent even using benifit of a quad core cpu at the moment. So octa core just an over kill.. If you gonna get it from Kogan im pretty sure that they will sell 3G only international version as well..
What im wishing for not to have a whole different device for Australia like S2 4G model from telstra with no developer support and lack of updates..

Yeah there is that side to it as well. I'd really think that we should be able to get the 4g version from Kogan, they have both versions of the s3. They tend to be pretty cheap, and I don't like carrier locked phones and contracts...

Im ordering mine from the UK upon release.
http://www.handtec.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-s4.html
Sources ive been reading suggest Australia isnt going to be getting them in the first 5 countries, so expect longer than 30th April delays previously stated above. However i could be wrong.
Why wait for them to appear in local stores, when you can order online.... Its cheaper overseas and you will get one far quicker. They also have far less bloatware on them from the UK than the local Optus, Telstra or Vodafone stores... (not that bloatware is much of an issue once you've got it rooted, but there will be a week or 2 without root access where this will be annoying lol)
Just a thought.
Like usual, I'll be getting the international version - cheaper, quicker, and know the exact version. It alone usually has enough bloat without the carrier stuff
Thanks for info, i registered my interest with Telstra.
Sunny
It's a bit sad, contacting Optus via twitter to query upgrading to the S4.
Find out that it will cost more to upgrade early than to buy the phone outright..
It's not like made of money or anything..
Seriously hate mobile contracts that last 24 months..

Geez, be careful if you get one from Kogan. Apart from ****ty customer service, ALL of the Samsungs (and we assume other brands too) are international models which means you have to trust Kogan to handle the warranty as Samsung Australia will not touch them under any circumstances.
I have had this discussion at length with the Management of Samsung and the ACCC and while Kogan aren't necessarily doing anything wrong (unless you could grey/parallel importing), you could be up **** creek if it breaks.

Had my SGS3 Motherboard replaced today and was chatting to one of the Senior Telstra staff for a while about the SGS4.
For what it's worth, the rumor (and I stress ONLY a rumor) is that we'll be getting a quad-core SGS4, not the octa-core.
Given that we got the quad core SGS3 and the US got the dual core, I can't see it myself.
The other possibility was a quad-core 3G but an octa-core 4G.

So if I have this right, we will be getting the snapdragon version which will be 3g only? To be honest not fussed about 4g as I work remotely a fair amount of the time. Plus I figure the snapdragon will still be lightning fast..
Super keen for the decent dev support too, whether that is CM or not remains to be seen I guess!

Hmm.. the biggest advantage, from my point of view, of nexus devices are, they'll rather have support for upcoming OSs such as Ubuntu, Mozilla etc. because of AOSP(drivers etc.). Samsung/HTC/Sony on the other side have always their customized Android OS, which is also a good thing because they have to be absolutely stable.
My SHV-E330S(same as I9506) has not less mods than my old S2. I would say, it has much more mods than S2.
The only difference - you wait when someone will do this for you, while i do it by myself.
Actually, i don't see what is interesting in using already made custom ROM which has be made in someone's specific taste.
Today, there are much more devices than before. Thus, concentration of developers for particular device is less and less. If you want to get something interesting for particular device, you have to become one of such developers.
Otherwise, just get Nexus - it already has naked Android which most people here is looking for.
The only thing i miss for my I9506 is the kernel developement. But if you think better why would you OC the Krait 400?Isn`t the fastest CPU avalaible on the market?A kernel with udervoltage feature enabled would be perfect. For the rest...if you have root you can make it all by yourself. There are a lot of tutorials on the market explaining how you can port a custom ROM and a lot of mods and themes ar compatible for this phone from I9505 thread and Note 3.For short...i`m very satisfied with my I9506.Way faster and less battery draining than I9505.I have them both!
If no-one is porting a rom from either the Xperia Z1, or from the Note 3 wich at least have the same CPU, i will probably look into how to do this myself.. I bought the i9506 yesterday and thought there would be a custom rom allready, but no.. My old Optimus 4X HD is still in use, cause i really hate the Samsung menu system!
I9506
I am from India. My friend is getting me a I9506 from US for 490 dollars. is it a good deal? Will I get OTA updates on it?

Think no.. New samsung devices have a region lock by default..
If its a new device and is unlocked maybe, but u need to activate in your region for first use..
Dont know if device only run in US if ur friend activate the phone there..
If not, you'll need to unlock it and pray..
Other thing will be flash ur own firmwares but this will flag a 1 on knox void warranty efuse and cant receive OTAs..

Sadly the data plan network on our country have no HTC One supplies, i would to get hands on it really. Also I am shock by the mods and also CM, i though Galaxy Line are the modfest.
Yes, I agree on this also.
I had an S3 before and I have to say that Devs were going crazy making new Roms/Tweaks and kernels almost every day!
I thought the GS4 would be even more crazier but turns out that it isn't. Should've got that Nexus 5 :|
