Is ICS available for S II HD LTE already? there was announced it should be released till the end of the quarter.
As well, could you please report HIDSWVER and product code for your device? The purpose is to download stock ROM for i757m and try to adapt it to korean S II HD LTE (E120 L/K/S).
Thanks beforehand.

Any progress on this?
I just picked up a samsung s2 HD LTE and didn't even notice it wasn't ICS in the store.
I'm VERY tempted to take it back, love the phone, HATE the battery life, and HATE gingerbread (comparatively)... I am really starting to miss my Hd7.
What can I do to help?
I'm already emailing Bell and Samsung to let them know of my concerns - squeeky wheel, right fellas?

How do I report those numbers to you?
Is love to see a port of the south Korean Ics to ours

according to bell
according to my conversation with a Bell tech support employee, the update for the SGH-i757M is scheduled to be available in July 2012. via Kies or Over The Air update.

According to a very similar conversion I can second that info...and add, quote "but at the last meeting, the techs were reporting being ahead of schedule"

If they put out a Captivate version for Rogers, I suspect it'll work quite nicely on our US Captivates. Though we'll probably see the US version around the same time lack of announcements notwithstanding.
Hopefully at&t will actually give us an HSUPA radio. *wishful thinking*
I'm enjoying coming from Sprint... my Evo in my bedroom... 600kbps download at the most, usually more like 400 or 500... and upload was like 190...
I average 2-4Mbps with my at&t download and 1.2-1.7 up using the JPM radio... HUGE difference...
Not that it matters since it won't tether for whatever reason.
This is baller, i just got the capticate on the weekend. Came from the motorola milestone with nothing but broken prommises of a offical 2.2 i think 2.2 will run ausome on this phone.

It's funny that no one got this yet!
Hmm how does this work? Rogers said that 2.2 will be released in 1st half of 2011. Isn't it Rogers that has the final say on when 2.2 will be pushed onto devices? I assume Rogers controls the updates which they receive from Samsung and tests/modifies it to conform with their devices. Unless there's a way to by-pass rogers entirely and grab it from Samsung? Kies?
On the flip side, Telus has said that their Fascinate will get 2.2 in the winter, but now Samsung Canada says 2011.
Who is to believe? I'm not expecting 2.2 for a while for my Captivate so I didn't get excited for it or anything. But if it's really coming in mid-December (apart from Samsung's expected delays), then that's awesome.
This awesome. Mark Nguyen of rogers redbaord says that captivate will have 2.2 in early 2011. Maybe what he meant was on the fascinate.
Uh oh....is there an Ota update? I dont see an option like the att for ota updates or im just blind
Rogers customer here. If you saw the clusterfuck that was the Captivate launch, you'd know better than expect the upgrade before January. 2012, that is.

Rogers Galaxy S II

Will the Rogers' version of the Galaxy S II be compatible with the ROMS, themes, tweaks from here? My guess is no since it doesn't bear the i-9100 or i-9100M tag.
Model: SGH-1727R
Android 2.3.5
Normally I'd just try flashing them, but not when I bought it outright for over $700

Just picked up my SGH-I727R at the Robbers and am thinking the Skyrocket will be a good seller thus our Galaxy S II's will get Root and all the good Rom's that come with that.
Just finished rooting a Rogers GS2 yesterday using the Zerg method from thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335702
Took about 3 minutes, works like a charm.

SGH-I727R? OK, you've got a rebranded ****rocket (with Crapdragon).
I9100 ROMs are NOT compatible in any way. AT&T Skyrocket ROMs will be. Also, porting ROMs and such from the T-Mobile T989 should be fairly easy.
The ****rocket and T989 have NOTHING in common with the remainder of the Galaxy S II series except for a name and a sAMOLED+ screen - everything else about them is completely different.
That's sad to hear...hopefully we'll get as good of a development support as my previous i-9100M did.
But 1 question though...why are you so jealous??

Samsung Offers Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrade for GALAXY devices

http://global.samsungtomorrow.com/?p=8894
woooooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooo
Samsung Electronics plan to provide the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for GALAXY devices. The platform update for GALAXY S II and GALAXY Note will start in the first quarter 2012, and other GALAXY devices will soon follow.
The ICS-upgradable devices are the GALAXY S II, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Note, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7, and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus.
For upgradable models, Samsung will make separate announcements on details of OS updates schedule for each market according to market situation and carriers’ requirements.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung GALAXY Nexus, the first Ice Cream Sandwich powered smartphone, were first unveiled at a Google/Samsung joint news conference in Hong Kong on October 19th.
Ice Cream Sandwich brings an entirely new look and feel to Android. It has a redesigned user interface with improved multi-tasking, notifications, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC support and a full Web browsing experience. Ice Cream Sandwich also features a new People App which lets users browse pictures, messages and social network updates from friends, family and co-workers.
Ice Cream Sandwich also introduces innovations such as Face Unlock, which uses facial recognition to unlock the smartphone. Using NFC technology, Android Beam allows users to quickly share Web pages, apps and YouTube™ videos with friends by simply tapping two phones back-to-back. Users can even use fun effects while shooting video or video chatting with Google Talk™.
Yay ... bring it

Should, yes.. GSII LTE is just the International name for the nonATT hacked up device.
Once a version for our phones is available, someone will post it up here. Or better yet an ICS rom may be available. Why wait for an OTA update, when you can get it here first?

Because some of us don't want to go down the Cooked Rom Road. Used to do it with my other phones but I need this one to be stable for business purposes. Don't want to be re-flashing and re-configuring every few days just to trade old bugs for new bugs. I love being on the cutting edge but between working, being a home owner and a dad I just don't have the time to do it right.

Agreed. If your phone is for business, then yes one should wait for an OTA update. Rock steady stability, is of greater importance than having a rom that is potentially buggy.

Thaaat's what we like to see. Annoying when people post false statements without any sources. They wouldn't NOT release an update when the phone came out just a month before ICS. They even updated the Captivate to GB way back when even when that update came out quite awhile later...

I have a Captivate and thinking about going with the SR but I must clarify, that the Captivate on AT&T has no Gingerbread update still! Of course I have been on GB for months on various custom ROM's. Every now and then I think about the people that are still on Froyo and it is hard to swallow. This is one reason that I would hesitate on the SR. Samsung may provide updates but AT&T takes FOREVER to test and release them. This phone is my daily driver and I am a heavy corporate user. I have had good luck with custom ROM's and would have to continue down this same path if I got a SR. Frankly, there are so many other benefits to custom ROM's that I would probably go that route even if I had a Galaxy Nexus.
Well, if att messes this up we can always port from rogers or T-Mobile

ICS for Galaxy devices delayed?

So back in December, Samsung stated that ICS would be available for Galaxy devices in Q1 2012 (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2397850,00.asp - among other sources).
Someone asked on Facebook when the update for the Galaxy Nexus S was coming and Samsung stated that "ICS updates for Galaxy devices will be available in early Q2." (https://www.facebook.com/samsungmobilecanada/posts/10150560045396050)...
Idk, that may be a bit different because the Nexus S is in the original Galaxy S family. Those are going to be updated after all the Galaxy S2 devices. They actually weren't even going to release the update for those phones initially.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Some rumors said march first, which would be q1 and not going to happen. Some leaked document i saw said april which would be early q2. God knows what they are doing over there. I want aosp/cm9 anyway, but if they release ics it might help get us closer.
I am so sick of this too.....
From now on I am only getting Nexus Devices
I'm sick of it too, but used to it. They just released official Gingerbread for the Captivate (my previous phone) a few weeks ago after XDA users had been running leaked versions for several months. But the devs here on XDA already have (as I understand it) some pretty kickass ICS roms available for the Captivate.
Don't hold your breath waiting for AT&T/Samsung. We'll have ICS here on XDA long before they make it officially available (but...without a secure element we won't be able to use Google Wallet--not sure how they're going to solve that one...re-issued sim cards maybe?)
Sounds like it's all Galaxy devices:
https://www.facebook.com/samsungmobilecanada/posts/10150560045396050
That being said, I wasn't holding my breath either for an official release but figured when one came it might help speed up some things here on XDA or for the CM guys.
And yeah, I was running ICS on my Cappy for a couple months before it died (needed a new mobo so the cost of upgrading to the SGS II LTE was actually cheaper than the repair on my Cappy - go figure)... the official Samsung/Rogers upgrade cycle on the Cappy was horrendous as well, bought it with Froyo, an hour later had CM7 on it, and it wasn't long afte they updated officially to GB that I was running TeamHacksung ICS alpha builds on it.
We'll be lucky to get official ICS before Jellybean is released
That is Samsung mobile Canada stating that. So may be different for us in the states. But what I think is funny is the vivid is getting the update soon, and if I'm not wrong both phones came out on the same day. So no blaming this on the carrier this time. Damn Sammy LOL.

True, it is Samsung Mobile Canada - I wasn't expecting us (or the US) to get it in Q1 anyways (officially) as the original statement I believe was for the international versions of the Galaxy S II/Note. Still, was hoping that the international stock rom would help jump/fix kinks some of the developers here are trying to overcome.
I'm in Canada, so I can only hope

To clarify, they only said the international versions of the S II and the Note would get it in Q1. The others that were announced to get ICS have never been given a time frame, other than that they would follow those two.
There seems to be a lot of confusion on that point.

Yes, I do understand that fully. Not holding my breath that the international version will be rolling out any time soon either.
Looking into the dev forum there are two promising roms one in alpha 1 with basic functions working and another one that the mods and the dev keep fighting over is a lot further along but I think was taken down again :-(. I'm guessing we have about a month maybe a bit more before we have some awesome functioning ics rom's

He's probably right, if the galaxy nexus has it, with an SOC which isn't so dissimilar to ours, they're probably sitting on it.
