[APP][Xposed] Per app DPI for all apps, Volume Skip Track, Status Bar Tweaks & more
Great News: Xposed Installer now supports Galaxy S4
Galaxy S4 has a nice 5 inch display. But having phoneUI in all the apps doesn't justify the screen size. With Xposed App Settings you can change layout and density of each app to tabletUI or PhabletUI whatever your preferences are.
I have tried it on Stock Rom. So it should probably work with every rooted ROM ODEX or DEODEX.
How to Install
1. Make a Nandroid Backup. (Just in case you mess up any system file)
2. Download the XposedInstaller 2.1.4 apk and install it. Launch it and grant it root permissions. Then press Install/Update button. Then reboot.
3. Download the Per App Density Setting apk and install it.
4. Launch the Xposed Framework App then in the module tab, enable the Per App Density Module. Then reboot.
5. Launch the Per App Settings app and there you can now set per app density for all apps listed.
Galaxy S4 has a default dpi of 480, So if you want phabletUI for any app then set dpi to 320-380 and layout to 800x1080. For tabletUI try dpi value from 180-240.
I have tried phabletUI for some google apps like Playstore, Gmail and Google Now. You can try various settings and keep whatever suits you best.
I will share some settings I have tried later tonight.
Note: You can also try it with Multi DPI Stock apps shared by bala_gamer.
If not using above Multi DPI apps then don't try these settings with Samsung apps. for now. You will just end up with weird layout.
More Tweaks Here: For more tweaks like volume button skip music, status bar tweaks and many many more check out this thread!! It says that its only for At & T version but I have tested it on my I9500 its working fine.
I am just sharing cool stuff I find in this forum and I don't take any responsibility for any damage to your phone. So whatever mods you apply, always make a NANDROID Backup
Thanks to rovo89 and tungstwenty for Xposed Framework and Per App Settings. And special thanks to xperiacle, I have been using his mods in my Galaxy Note and if it wasn't him then maybe I wouldn't find this amazing app.
You can also use the smiley replacer.apk with the xposed app installer

You can't just edit notification bar dpi. For that you will have to change DPI of your phone. But Stock Samsung apps won't fit properly if you change Phone's DPI. You can find more information about changing phone's DPI here

I wish there were PhabletUI Samsung apps available. But if you want to change just the dpi and not layout then read the OP. There's a link for some Multi-DPI stock apps. And for the TabletUI of stock apps lets wait for 4.2.2 updates for bigger devices like Tab, Note 10.1, Note 8 so that we can try pulling apks from them.
Installed and working fine
is it possible to change phone DPI to custom and set app specific density for samsung apps? will this kind of layout works ?
Yes I know about it im using it from SGS3 and for SGS4 waiting only for modded TW launcher, thats why I was so curious if this will handle it without the need to use modded multiDPI apps. Nevermind as the multi TW launcher will be avaible I wont need Xposed. THX for reply anyway enjoy it

No it's more tricky with Samsung apps. If you want for example 320 dpi for Contacts app then first you need a contacts app of 320 dpi and then you can change density from this app, just changing phones dpi won't do it. You can find some of these apps in another thread called Multi-DPI Samsung apps. Check op for the link.
You can also try to pull apps from another phones like gs3 or note which have different dpi but I'm not sure about their compatibility with 4.2.2 roms.

How to use Tablet,Phablet,Phone on any Touchwiz Rom
After I was addicted to Phablet mode on Sungsonic HD Rom Thanks to @ Adi. I thought i wanted to try other Rom i tried couple of them but after that i felt like this should have been on other roms as well but i found a fix on how to use this PHABLET, TABLET, PHONE,CUSTOM DPI.
Here are the steps on how to get this on your Roms
Step 1: UI SWITCHER Thanks to xperiacle
Step 2ownload and Flash Xperia Z Launcher with Walkman Here Thanks to ravi923615
Step 3: Now Flash these files Thanks to bala_gamer
LK7 multi dpi camera
LK7 multi dpi dialer
LK7 multi dpi keyboard
240 dpi launcher note2 universal
240 dpi calculator note2 universal
Step 4: Open the UI Switcher now switch to any DPI or Custom DPI it should work.
Please post the queries that you have about this Guide
Hi aukhan, thanks for the tutorial
But are you sure it's just as simple as that? Because the last time I tried, I must change the lcd density in bulid.prop to enable tablet UI mod :silly:
Just install UI switcher didn't change anything for me last time
Just to add to this, I recently used resolution change / Density from Google Play and set my DPI to 240 on a stock rom and it worked great. The only 3 things that didnt agree with the DPI change were the Samsung Keyboard (Kept crashing so couldnt use it), Camera (menu bars misalligned) and Dialler so I replaced these with Swift Dialer, Swiftkey Keyboard and any other camera app from Google, I also installed Smartlauncher and it looks pretty cool.

does any of other samsung apps Multi DPI compatible?
which method do all reccommend ? how about the 240 xposed method ? you can get floating windows that way too and give various apps different dpi according to usage ?
is there a better modded TW launcher, this one gives blue page pointers which i dont like.
Its won't work on latest MG1 build bro..xperiacle hasn't released update for latest MG1 build..and simply installing ui switcher app won't do anything..it needs a modified framework(by xperiacle)..u need to flash the framework first then the ui switcher app
Tested on my GT-N7100, works great it does not change only the drawer dpi it updates all your apps, in adition I installed Nova Launcher in order to change the icon grid to 6x7 for a better look.

I've been running this mod since than and had noticed some issues:
- You cannot resize widgets in the home screen any more
- The clock app crashes in 240dpi mode, I used the clockpage 4.1.2 apk from this thread to fix it(flashed it like the rest) -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001577
- The dialer(I flashed the one from this thread) buttons are not ok in portail mode, they seem "squeezed" and too big
- In the messages app, the font size from the threads and messages is not rezied and scaled properly it goes outside from the threads box
- Stock email app is not scaled properly it has a right margin in the main threads about 30%
- Page buddy not scaled ok
+ Multiwindow not working
If someone can post a 240dpi email, pagebuddy, launcher(with min 5x6 apps and resize available) it would be great

Hey..
Try this tutorial.
Its about editing build.prop via adb..
Set your DPI back to 160 by following the above tutorial.
Also remember that TouchWiz will not show right if
you change the universal dpi. A lot of the
Samsung apps, the dialer and the launcher itself
will be messed up.
Options are use an aosp rom, or Xposed and app
settings if they work in his device, and change
dpi for only certain user apps.
thanks to my buddy @KJ for the info.
Cheers.

I've always used ROM toolbox for dpi since 2012.
It never has failed me. Obviously must be rooted.
I use a dpi of 500. Then use app settings on xposed to change phone and camera to normalize the dpi to stock so it doesn't look all weird.
Good luck
Haven't tried Rom Toolbox but with App Settings Module not working I am going to end up with stock apps that don't scale correctly....I want to change the DPI per app... not globally, otherwise the stock apps look screwy..

Either you didn't reboot after changing DPI "it's a bug" supposed to do it on the fly, or your xposed setup isn't right.
The stock dpi on the note 5 is perfect. It's the only dpi on any phone that I have not changed

Agree, I only moved it from 560 to 500, not a huge increase compared to 100 to other phones.
