Will ROM Manager work on Samsung Galaxy S 2 Skyrocket? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I'm a newb, and I hear ROM Manager makes it super easy to install CWM on this device, but I'm not sure galaxy phones are compatible with rom manager. Can someone clear that up for me?

I agree that Odin is a good method, I did it that way, but I don't see what's wrong with using ROM Manager. Does it still allow you to use the power + volume buttons to boot recovery?
Edit: To stay on topic, yes it will work. Please follow the above advice and study more before rooting your device.

During the switch to ICS, there were multiple bricks due to trying to update through rom manager. Don't know if it's been fixed yet, but it's not worth the risk in my eyes, not when Odin and TWRP are so easy to use.

I'm going to put my $0.02 in and say, don't use rom manager. You're asking for trouble. I bricked a device playing with it. Odin and twrp or cwm are the way to go. And never, ever flash anything unless you know it's for your specific device.

Use ROM Manager only for fixing permissions on the Skyrocket. Will using it to install recovery work? Maybe, probably not. Is there any sense at all in using a method that has a very high probability of bricking you when there's a perfectly safe, viable alternative out there? No.

[Q] what recovery is use

for my phone i try the CWM from rom manager, but my recovery have the samsung recovery ? @[email protected]? and i has seen other talking bout cwd dont work and then im not sure but something call kG4 ??
i rooted my phone with the superone click but i cant get a recovery so i can flash ROMs on my phone ??
I recommend you to ODIN one of the customize ROM or KERNEL in the development session first to get the CWM ( most of the case it was integrated to the ROM or kernel) then you can flash any ROM you want.
Or use the cwm final thread in the dev section.

No there isn't because the alternative would be to use stock recovery and that won't let you flash the other recovery.

Yes there is, by purchasing it through ROM manager.
Some of us use macs which doesn't support Odin. I used to run parallels but my partition got corrupted so I can't run windows anymore because the disk was a 1 time install. Long story short Odin is probably one of the easier things to use. if u can't use it than figure out how to use terminal and adb. If you follow the instructions you shouldn't have to worry about bricking your phone

Do you have to be rooted to run rom manager? Because you flash a new recovery with it. You can download from app store.

So I'm having issues with data dropping on my phone. I've decided its time to take it to the store. I'm rooted with a Rom on here. What do I need to do to check the counter or whatever it is and restore to stock so they don't know I rooted. Thanks

Unless you flashed custom software with ODIN your counter should be 0. However, search for triangle away.

What rom are you running? I had really bad data drops on CM10. I'd try one of the touch wiz roms if you already haven't and possibly try a new modem. Modems are better for different people so there's not really one "best" modem for anyone.

Enter download mode. Power off hold vol down home and power, press vol up when its ask you to continue. Read the small text
Your rom may also have a reboot option to reboot into download mode

Someone correct me if im wrong, but in order to root this phone you need to flash an already rooted ROM, you must use the nvflash link that was provided for you no matter what, and then once CWM is flashed, flash a ROM.
Hope this helped!

Super one click doesn't put cwm recovery on the phone if you want rooted stock kwes has one pre made flash through cwm easy as pie guys. I dont understand why you would want your phone rooted with no recovery installed. Just makes it harder to fix if you mess up

[Q] So about this cyangenmod..

I'm trying to root my s3 and the goal is in the end to put cm on it. I'm bummed the installer doesn't work for our phone, but is there a good guide on here or elsewhere with the files I'll end and a how to?
Thanks in advance ( FYI, I've flashed and rooted multiple times before just never cm)
If you stop by Google and go to CyanogenMod's page, find the phone in the devices section. There are device specific guides there. If you want to try something else, go to the original development section, find the CyanogenMod ROM and follow the directions there.

Read the instructions here once rooted/unlocked
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405425
Yeah, those didn't really help me...if I gave the file on my sd card should I be able to flash it from there with rom manager or goo manager?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
If you're rooted, and unlocked, do you have your nandroid backup set up with custom recovery? From there just use Goo Manager to boot into recovery, and then wipe your cache and then flash your ROM and appropriate Gapps pack. Process was fairly simple on my SIII using TWRP. Make sure you look up the appropriate Gapps zip before starting or you will wind up with key features inoperable and will have to reboot and load it onto your phone before finishing setup.
You'll like CM 10.1.x on the SIII, it runs very smoothly.
Nothing in the post I linked mentions Rom manager. The instructions work if followed.
Don't forget to do this either. Just in case. I've never had to restore, but i still have A & B covered

Not necessarily. I think I flashed my SIII with about 85%. Then again, I did most of the steps with it plugged into the charger EXCEPT for flashing the rom itself. It took about four or five minutes tops.
Has anyone tried both cm and slimbean? I'm thinking of trying slimbean first bc I have usee cm in the past but I keep reading slimbean is stable and gives great battery.
