Email.apk and exchange folders on 4.2.1 - Android Apps and Games

Hi all,
I'm using Paranoidandroid 4.2.1 on Nexus and experiencing no folder sync/browsing with exchange accounts.
Comparing the current version to older ones the arrow for folder browsing has disappeared.
Has Anyone solved it?
I searched a lot but didn't understand if it's a bug or something else.
Thanks

Same for me! Realy missing the email.apk and exchange connectivity (both calendar and mail)!
Using Rufdroid 1.2.0 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817897 ), als based on 4.2.1
Great ROM but email is missing (gmail cannot connect to exchange server).
Hope someone have a working email.apk for 4.2.1

I solved just by selecting sync period to the longest one. Magically folders appeared right!!!

I'm wrong, tried to factory reset the phone and after set the exchange account, folders don't sync again!
Magically folders appeared after a long time I set the account... just after some hour of (maybe) frequent syncs.

[Q] the only gripe... very slow Email app with Exchange

The only gripe i have with the Galaxy Tab is the abominably slow Email app with Exchange integration. On any app start or when return from reading an Email it takes a full 30 or more seconds to load the Email list (i sync 1 week) and more often than not the screen / app becomes unresponsive and force closes.
I discovered that unlike Touchdown the in-built Email app simply downloads all Emails (1 week horizon) in all sub-folders (i have many, organization freak...). With Touchdown i can pre-select the folders i want on the Phone/Tab, which obviously makes the number of items much smaller.
By now i don't want to change from Email to Touchdown, because I like the integration of Emails & calendar entries, etc. native, but I have to work with the tab on work Email,... can't wait for every mail for 30 sec to load
Does anybody experience this too, and are there any remedies?
thanks
That isn't the case with me. I have 27 subfolders (really), not counting Inbox, Sent, Junk and Deleted folders. I need to manually refresh all but the main Inbox.
Response time moving from folder to folder is also a non-issue, and I sync back a full month (which is thousands and thousands of emails). I don't notice any extra delay when leaving Email and doing something else on the tab either.
I'm using Push, not timed polling, and no "peak schedule" so that may make a difference.
Sounds like you might have some database corruption going on. Try going into Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/All/Email and then "Clear data". This will nuke the mail on your device without changing your account settings. Sync up again and see if you still have the problem.
If you do, go into Accounts and Sync, click on your Exchange account, and click Remove Account, then reboot the Tab. Once you've done that, set your account back up, resync, and see what the situation is.

I will try clear data
I did see the issue reported (with no solution) on other forums though
Thanks
Edit: cleared data, same issue. I am hesitant to re-setup, because others have reported that that didn't help them either. I am on JM6, interesting that you don't hv the issue

Same here,

Same with me. Very slow!!
It was the same on the original firmware/rom, on JK5 and JM6. Also performed full factory reset but it makes no difference.
Using the eval of roadsync at the moment and it works pretty well but it does not integrate very well with the calendar and contacts apps. I will probably configure roadsync for email and the built in app for calendar and contacts to get a working solution. Annoying and very disappointing!!
Search for the port for Galaxy S of the email app from galaxy tab, it solved the slowdowns and it removed the security pass.

This worked for me no lag when opening up my corp inbox. Tab now 100% perfect.
Had to change the galaxy email app shortcut as it was set to open the previous account by default. Even though they were called the same it always opened a blank mail box . I then had to change to all accounts. Now resolved

Be careful, it's a very OLD email.apk, from a pre-release leak of the Tab ROM.
It's missing a few features, and it has a lot more connection issues. I tried it just to bypass needing a PIN, it was not reliable.

ok, this thread needs to be updated a bit, because just simply referring to the link is bad advise.
it broke my camera (driver crash), probably because the email.apk posted in the other thread linked does not have an *.odex file
i reverted back to the original email.apk and email.odex and my camera is working again.
scary

now i am still stuck with a very slow email app

You have to use only the email.apk and keep the original Email.odex, then the camera works fine...
The only problem i found is that the version of the port is from an old version... anyone have a more recent version?

Last time I tried to pull it from the fw, but didn't succeed.
Any solutions on this?
I think the problem is related with security from exchange. Because when I use the stock app I have to assign a pin to access the system, and the mail app works very slow, but when I use a modded version without the security it works normally...

The implementation of Exchange on Android is screwed... I use an Exchange 2010 server and not all my folders show on my android device. And even the ones which show dont update ona regular basis (My Sent folder updates once in a while... Right now it hasn't updated for 2 weeks)
On top of it it doesn't update all the features/items. For instance impossible to have birthdays for contacts. Or impossible to modify an event from the exchange calendar (It's only possible to delete it)
Not much to say. It's disappointing on a phone. It's ridiculous on a tablet (you expect at ;east the email client and the calendar to be perfect on a tablet)
Same happens to me since the beginning, anyone has found a solution???
I think it's unacceptable

[Q] Twitter for Android - sync contacts broken in ICS / Android 4.0.3 ?

I upgraded my Nexus S from Android 2.3.1 to 4.0.3 and all was well: those I follow on Twitter turned up in the new People app. But recently I ran a factory reset to try and improve battery life and since re-installing Twitter for Android it refuses to sync my contacts.
My Twitter account has been added to the Settings > Accounts & sync screen. What I get for "Sync Contacts" is: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". "Sync Twitter" is working fine as is syncing with googlemail accounts.
My colleague has a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (also running Android 4.0.3) and I got him to add his Twitter account to the Settings > Accounts & sync screen. He is getting the exact same problem.
Is anyone else getting this? It's been broken for a few days now.
I'm running the AOSP oICS and it doesn't work for me either. Try to sync contacts with twitter and it just fails. NS4G.

It's a problem with Twitter. It was fine a few days ago on stock Galaxy Nexus with 4.0.1 and then it just stopped working.
Mine works, but I installed from a backup so they may be gone when it updates.

guess what..u guys are not alone. Mine also suddenly causing me similar issue since last night.
Definitely not an ICS issue. It has to be a twitter issue, because it also stopped working on my gingerbread-running Optimus One.
do you think it's a twitter problem or is ics?
I sent a message with the link ... waiting response now ... =)
Wait & see
Same here! No ICS Issues confirmed
I can confirm the issue, in my Xoom running ICS and also in my phone running Gingerbread, both with the same message using the same account... So I think is twitter fault...

Unable to edit calendar appointments after ICS update. Anyone else?

If I have an appointment in my phone, I am able to edit it once - but only once. After I make a change to an existing appointment and save it, the edit option no longer appears for that entry.
I am able to delete the appointment and recreate it, but that is a bit of a pain.
Is anybody else experiencing this issue or is it just me?

Thanks for trying that out and verifying. One thing that I forgot to mention above was that I am not using Google calendar. Everything is saved to the default calendar called "My Calendar."

Cannot edit calendar after ICS update
Yes, I have this problem. If I try to put in a new appointment after ICS update, there is not option to edit the appoint. Previous appointments have ability to eidt. I have not tried to see if changed then will the edit function not be available later.....any solutions.
Hmm, using both gmail and office 365 connected accounts, I'm not having any issues.
Running Sky-ICS 1.9 btw.
I am glad to see someone else is having the same issue as I am. I just find it odd that some are and others aren't having the issue.
Unfortunately, no solution as of yet.

Same problem with the calendar entries disappearing when I upgraded to ICS a few weeks ago. Slightly different with newly-created entries - no option to edit at all once they've been added.
Hello,
I have the same problem too after having upgraded my S2 from GB v2.3.5 to ICS v4.0.4 stock ROM with Kies.
I'm using only the Android calendar (My calendar), not Google's one.
I noticed that :
- previously created entries are not affected,
- newly created entries using Outlook and synced with Kies are also not affected.
I've tried to change all the (few) options but without any success.
If you have any idea...

Exchange Calendar sync

Hi All
I have my note 10.1 for a week and i am very happy except for one annoying problem.
I use it for work with exchange sync. I noticed that any event i create in Splanner is not synced with exchange server. However from the server to device everything works. I can send and receive emails without a problem.
I have a note 5.3 as well and it works perfect.
Anyone has any experience or ideas?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
One of my accounts thru the stock email is an exchange and the calender syncs properly both ways(outlook to tab and tab to outlook).
Make sure when you enter an item in the planner/cal on the tablet the first box on top of the new appt item is a list of the accts or a Dropdown box. Make sure you are choosing the one that is tied to your exchange account so it syncs properly.
Hope this helps.
Thank you very much.
I tried again step by step creating an event both on my note 5.3 and 10.1
10.1 still did not add it to exchange server.

Now that i am thinking about it I did have to manually go into the system settings and go under sync to all of the accounts to get it to initially to work. System settings. Than also under the calendar settings. Sync.
Try that
I tried everything i could.
I even flashed latest stock rom i coukd find still the same.
My big puzzle is my gt-n7000 works perfectly with exactly thesame setup, same server.
Disappointment.

I am having exactly the same problem. Calendar items don't sync to the Exchange server. Also I see that not all Exchange items sync to the device. For example, on Wednesday I had 3 items in Exchange for the day but only one sync'ed to the device. Same behavior on my G Note phone, but my razr works just fine.
Check in OWA to make sure your IT department hasn't set a device limit on the number of devices you can have syncing to Exchange .

Not the problem as I can sync using Touchdown.
Still no luck.
I have tried using my old tab 7 and it works without an issue.
I will still check for the number of devices that can sync with my IT department but I don't think it will be the issue.

I had issues as well with S Planner, so I just changed it to the JB Calendar using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.concentriclivers.calendar&hl=en
no more problems!
I tried the JB calendar
Unfortunately itshows the same problem as sPlanner
I finally installed touchdown which worked immediately.
I don't like that but no other option
it is a huge shame that I am back to the problems I was having with Dell Streak years ago.
I hope there will be a solution in the coming days.

I am having this same problem. events created in outlook show up fine in s-planner but events created in s-planner do not show up in outlook. I didn't try deleting my account as noted above but I did go in and change the email setting to (1) day and it didn't help.
try deleting
I had tried just changing the email to 1 day on an account that didn't work and it didn't fix the problem. Only deleting the old account and creating a new one with 1 day sync for email got it to work.

[Q] Is corporate calendar working on JB 4.2

Has anyone been able to get corporate calendar (exchange) syncing properly on any JB 4.2?
If yes which ROM and GAPPS have been used?
Any help to further debug this issue would be highly appreciated.
OLD POST:
I just flashed JEDI SoA (wiped System/Factory/Cache/Dalvik) and everything is working fine.
I successfully configured my Exchange account ... emails and contacts are sync without any problem but nothing appears in the calendar.
I forced a sync of the calender under Settings/Accounts ... no errors ... but still nothing in the Calendar.
I also tried installing Orthus 8 and I'm getting the same problem.

I'm having the same issue on my Gnex, already on 2 different 4.2.2 ROMs. Corporate email and contacts are set up properly, but there is no Corporate Calendar in the "calendars to display" of Calendar settings. Under sync all 3 appear, calendar mail and contacts. I tried Slimbean and now on JBSourcery 5.1, both with custom (from the devs side) gapps. Could the gapps package be the fault? When I installed another 4.2.2 ROM, I installed the oficial gapps package for 4.2.2 and calendar sync was present. What apps/services are responsible for the corporate calendar sync ?

Ivan.

Initially I was using Superlite Superfast (vicom Rutumax 4.1.2) ... I'm still using as my daily drive.
Then I installed Jelly Jedi and I also tried Ortus.
Anyway before flashing the new ROM I always perform a "Wipe system" + "Factory reset" (at least 2x).
Exchange works fine on Superlite Superfast 4.1.2 (email + contact + calendar).
I never managed to get any 4.2.2 to work with Calendar ... Emails and Contacts worked initially and then stopped working after a while.
Let me try one more time ...
Has anyone been able to get corporate calendar (exchange) syncing properly on any JB 4.2?
If yes which ROM and GAPPS have been used?
If no ... is this a well know problem of JB 4.2?
Is this a ROM or GAPPS problem?
Thanks

Looking around I noticed that my Calendar apparently is working properly only on the distribution using Stock Exchange (SecExchange.apk) vs Exchange2.apk.
Could this be the reason?

Thanks snigel, followed the suggestion and worked. During the setup of the exchange account I left the frequency on "push" and the calendar was properly populated. I then changed the setting to manual and the calendar still show the exchange account in the list to sync.
