You have to relock the bootloader then flash your carrier RUU
Boot into bootloader
"fastboot oem lock"
Run RUU

all the resources available to the hox are here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Why on earth would you want to run the 2.20 RUU? It will update the hboot, which plugs the hole by which kernels can be flashed from the recovery. You will need to push the boot.img separately via fastboot every time you flash a ROM (or other alternate methods).
If you just want the stock 2.20 firmware, install the stock pre-rooted 2.20 ROM avaiable from Development. Or a more updated on, since there are stock pre-rooted ROMs available up to 2.42 now. If you want the newer radios, those are posted in Development as well.

Sweet. Thanks
Help please. I am running Htc one x 2.20 rooted. I Installed a back up of the factory rom of 2.2.0 and relocked the device to use RUU to get it back to stock and i Followed the Program instructions, but it fails and I don't know if it is because I am running the same version or what I need to get it back to stock. I ended up making it say security warning but when i booted back in to the bootloader the security warning is gone.

I was actually wondering about the issue of having to flash the boot.img if restoring a TWRP backup. I assumed that it would have to be flashed via fastboot, since boot.img is obviously needed but can't be accessed by recovery on the 1.14 hboot. But haven't seen that discussed or confirmed here. Doesn't actually apply to my One X, since I'm on the old hboot. More just wondering academically.
Seems like the OP has taken the route of running the RUU. But if you ever need the boot.img for a stock ROM, many of the stock ROMs are posted in Development. So you can download the right one, and pull boot.img from it.
Yes you need to flash boot.img when restoring a backup on hboot 1.14.

Thanks for the tips guys, I also used this just now to unroot my phone and return it to bone-stock. I used the All-in-one tool to relock the bootloader and got the same error message that OP got, but after rebooting into the bootloader it said Re-Locked. Then downloaded HTC Sync and the 2.20 RUU and ran it. Took 15 minutes total and my phone looks stock, unless of course some busybody at AT&T decides to check the bootloader.
I am returning my One X and buying a One X + tomorrow morning.
EDIT: Oh and in case anyone is confused, you DO NOT need to flash boot.img in order to flash the 2.20 RUU.
i heard people say that they flashed the twrp boot backup in fastboot and it worked the same as flashing the boot from rom.zip in the ruu. i prefer the ruu method for going back to stock, just seems more official imo.

[Q] Relocked bootloader, won't boot into Rom

This is going to sound like an odd problem but all I can get to is the bootloader and fastboot. Haha. I feel like that's different from most threads here.
I'm selling my One X (AT&T) soon and wanted to get rid of my custom rom (CM10) and put it back to stock. I a stock rooted 2.20 rom (flashed boot.img then the zip) and thought everything would be fine. I locked the bootloader through fastboot (fastboot oem lock) and rebooted. Here's my problem: the phone won't ever actually boot into the rom installed after relocking the bootloader.
As far as I have read, I can't run the RUU if I can't boot into the rom. Every time I try to reboot or shut down then power on again, I just end up back at the bootloader. I can access fastboot but I don't think any of the commands can help me.
Btw, I can't get to recovery either, if that's any help. It just goes back to the bootloader again.
Any help would be great. Thank you and have a nice day!
You actually need to be in the bootloader to run the ruu, that is normal behaviour.

Thanks for the input! I've tried running the RUU on my Windows PC while the phone is both in fastboot and bootloader yet the RUU failed to connect to my One X. In some of the videos that I've found, once they relocked their bootloader, their phone would reboot into the rom. So is that not what's supposed to happen?
I've also seen some threads where people flash the RUU but it's for other devices. Is there a way I can do that? So while I'm in fastboot or something, I can just use the command line.
Thanks again!
I was able to just run the ruu on my pc while connected via fastboot usb. I'm not sure that the ruu is intended to be run from any command line, so you'll probably want to double check that your phone is connecting to your pc properly before you run the ruu. That's the only thing I can think of at this point.

When I run the RUU, I run in to this error:
"Error[170]: USB Connection Error. The Rom Update Utility cannot connect to your Android device." I'm not sure why I'm getting that.
I was on 2.20 before I rooted my phone, not sure if that changes anything.
I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about but when I go to the command line and type "fastboot devices" it acknowledges my phone so I feel like it is connected. Right?
Thanks!

I just wanted to say that I got it to work. In case anybody has the same problem as me, all you need to do is install the latest HTC Sync on your computer. Plug in your phone and go into fasboot mode. From there, just run the RUU on your phone and everything should work.
Thanks for everybody's help!

That's correct. Your PC has to have the latest HTC drivers installed in order to communicate with your phone.
Do you have to flash the boot.img separately like when flashing a rom? Or does the RUU take care of the whole thing?
The RUU basically puts your phone back to exactly how it was when you bought it

Stock AT&T ROM

Hi everyone. Well, i`m not totally noob, but i`m not a developer. Because the language i dont understand somethings, my english its not sooo good.
I`ve successfully unlock htc amaze 4g, htc desire hd, so i know how to follow instructions as well. My problem is:
I`ve bought a HOX AT&T Locked, and before get the unlock code, i unlock the bootloader and rooted the phone follow this steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957193
Everything its OK, i'm with the JELLYBAM ROM, and everything works fine. But when i put the unlock code, it didn't work. Says that failure.
The man who sends me the unlock code saids that the phone have to be in the stock rom to work.
SO, my question is what the correct steps to follow now to get my stock rom back.
My hboot its 1.14
My old stock ROM its 2.2
Its only follow these steps?

I Need to relock the booatloader?
Thank you in advance. And sorry for my english, i'm from Brazil.
yes relock your bootloader and while you are in bootloader hook your phone to your computer you should see fastbootusb come up then run the ruu and when it is doen your phone will be like out of box stock
you don't need to be stock, you just need to be on a sense rom
i wouldn't run the ruu just to have to reunlock and all that later, but if you run into problems later you do have to relock your bootloader to run the ruu. you run "fastboot oem lock" and then run the ruu from fastboot screen.

[Q] Encryption Unsuccessful-Bootloader Locked

Is it possible to unlock the bootloader when the phone is stuck in Encryption Unsuccessful screen?(basically the phone will only go into stock recovery) I tried through HTCDEV and that didn't work. It seems like the problem is, the bootloader is locked, I can't get into the phone to enable USB or developer options and only have stock recovery. Every option I read requires enabling USB and developer options first. Any Ideas???

1 - Do I need to install adb/fastboot on my pc first or can I just have the phone in fastboot mode and run the commands through the stock cmd.exe?
2 - The OS# is 4.17.605.5 so do I just download 5.0.1 RUU EXE and run that or do I need to download and run hboot first?
