[Q] Galaxy S i9000 or Desire S - General Questions and Answers

Hi everyone,
I had recently sold my HTC Desire and now I'm looking to buy new (used) phone and I'm deciding beetween i9000 Galaxy S and Desire S. And maybe i9001 Galaxy S+. Used phones goes in my prices range so please don't tell me buy SII or SIII because I don't have that much money .
So I'm looking for some comments, which phone is better? I'm going to install JB on one of that two so tell me on which one it runs better and with less bugs and more options. For me pros of i9000 is 4.0" AMOLED screen, better CPU and GPU and more internal memory, but Desire S has flash on it's camera and more RAM memory. So is Desire S much better because of it's more RAM memory? Or i9000 kicks it's ass ?
And is i9001 better than i9000?
So if there are some i9000 and Desire S users hit me with comments so I can decide which one to buy .
And yes, I'm going to use my phone to install JB and ICS so tell me which one is better, and for some casual games, web browsing, etc...
And which one has bettery battery life?
And which one has more avaliable RAM while runnig JB or ICS?
Which one is going to run game like Angry Birds on JB or ICS? And some games like that one
Right now I'm looking forum for ROMs and hopefully someone will write his comment and answer to me .

Hi, i advice u to i9001 cause of the specs, it better than the other two. It will soon have fully functional cm10 and 10.1.

planning to buy a phone....

i guys, how is everyone...i have a quick question...i am planning to buy a new android phone and i need help and opinion from everyone...my budget is between $500 to $600 i want the best one, that has fast internet and processor and etc...which has everything what phone needs...and i have at&t plan right now...i already tried htc desire hd and for one week and returned it because it doesn't give 3g connection....my brother has sensation but its for t-mobile and don't want to get it...i am thinking of getting samsung galaxy s2 but it has touchwiz which i have never used so i really need help....i need unlocked one....so please reply soon as you can...
thank you
I would go for the Galaxy S2. You can get rid of the TouchWiz if you root and flash a new ROM (if you're into this stuff).
Just out of curiosity what's wrong with the Sensation? I was thinking of getting one..
Sensation has:
Uni-aluminium-body, Sense 3.0 (which is way more beautiful than Touchwiz), higher screen resolution, less RAM, less internal memory.
Galaxy SII has:
more RAM, more internal memory, Touchwiz (ugly), very cheap plastik body, higher screen contrast.
I prefer Sensation over Galaxy S2 for Sense+aluminium body, but several people prefer Galaxy for RAM+screen contrast+internal memory.
Both of them are good.

+1 for me.
Although I am now back to using TW 4.5
Have anyone a Sensation? What are youre experience with it?
Think about it like this, the sensation has better material and once better roms come out for it the internal memory won´t make much difference.
The only way the gs2 is better would be the screen imo...
At the end of the day it probably boils down to better screen or better body.
galaxy s2 is the best! fast processor and the fast internet as you want

Why wouldn't internal memory matter? What if you have loads of apps you want to install?

Yes you can do that for some apps, but not all.
Galaxy S2 here!
I Have an Unlocked AT&T Atrix with a custom rom it's flawless. I recommend it.

[Q] New fast phone?

Hi,
At the moment I am using a HTC Desire and I find it to be to slow and the internal storage is to small.
Can someone recommend a fast dual core phone?
I have been looking at Samsung Galaxy s2 or perhaps som 3D phone...

This. You've answered your own question.
Maybe LG optimus 2X
My wife has gotten an Atrix 4g (AT&T), which recently got a gingerbread update. It's a beast of a phone, and quite fast.
The whole idea of the "webtop" dock for it, is just ridiculous to me though, especially since it costs more than a netbook.
*edit*
also worth note, it has 16gb built in user storage and 1gb of RAM.

I loved my Desire and never thought I would leave HTC until I got my SGSII.
Man, I looooooove my phone now
Hi guys, I know I'm a little off-topic, but not that much.
I would like your opinion on weather I should get an HTC Desire for about $330 or a Milestone 2 for about $530, or even de Defy for the same $530.
I ask because the hardware specs are very similar for the three, but i Know the desire is older.
Thank you.
Thx, I Will check the spec on them...

Total thread hijack if you ask me
Samsung s2 or sensation
HTC Sensation !!! a good one.
Samsung Galaxy S2 is at the Moment the King under the Smartphones!
Or maybe you can wait a little longer for the HTC 3D EVO.
That's a really nice piece that you can feel the 3D vision without any glasses.
Cool~~~~

Sorry about that, I'll make my own thread.
As a sensation owner I would say have play with both of them ( and look through the general sections on xda), the sensations gets stupidly hot for no reason and because the antennas are in the back cover the gsm/wcdma and wifi both have death grip issues.. as far as performance I know the sgs II is the fastest and has a better more well saturated screen but if I am no mistaken also gets really hot.... thats bench marks fast but I dont see any slow down on the sensation games play perfectly and the UI with customs roms is blisteringly fast...
hard decisions for you
Oh, I see a few more people have jumped in... Still not sure what to get... I shall look around... I not to sure about the 3d... The one I looked at hurt my eyes...
Probably will keep using my desire awhile longer... Need more memory... Need to decide soon!

The Samsung Galaxy S II has the better screen, and from what I've seen it makes better pictures. Also the battery for the SGSII is better: Li-Ion 1650 mAh vs. the Li-Ion 1520 mAh from the HTC Sensation. But the differences are not that great, and the HTC Sense from the Sensation is a great UI, and if you use a custom ROM from LeeDrOiD you can get a greater experience from the Sensation.
For day-to-day usage I would get the HTC Sensation, the Phone UI is the best out there. You may find similar apps on the market that mimic the Phone UI, but it's not the same.
And until you get your new device, try a ROM that has data2EXT. This will increase your internal storage to up to 2GB. Most HTC Desire Custom ROMs have this data2EXT option. Go here -> Desire Index - Everything Desire is here!

HTC Wildfire S vs Samsung Galaxy Ace?

Hello guys!
I'm looking to purchase a new phone, I have narrowed my choices and my budget down to either the HTC Wildfire S or the Samsung Galaxy Ace.
I just want to know your opinions to find out which one is the better phone, and which one is better value for money.
I can buy the HTC Wildfire S for £175 (Including £10 Top Up) on Three.
I can buy the Samsung Galaxy Ace for £145 (Including £15 Top Up) on Three.
Which one is better overall?
I know the Samsung has a better CPU than the HTC but doesn't the HTC run a better version of Android? Or do they both run 2.3?
I want the phone for general use- a lot of texting, a few phone calls, browsing facebook a couple of times a day, and checking emails once a day. I'm not looking to hack or flash custom roms etc, just practical use.
Thank you for all your replies in advance, they will be greatly appreciated.
Curtis.
Personally I would avoid the wildfire and go for the galaxy ace.
Will run better and smoother I'm sure.I've only briefly seen the galaxy but hated my original wildfire! I have the s2 so have started to really like Samsung so far in comparison to HTC handsets!
sent from t'internet
Thank you for your reply, I've heard good and bad things from both handsets but still undecided- so far im swinging towards the Ace mostly because it has a bigger screen and i know Samsung have good customer support (From experience) whilst i have heard HTC are dreadful in that department.
Thanks
No problem, let up know what you go for in this thread! hopefully you will be typing with your New phone! Plus if you need assistance feel free to ask!

Galaxy ace and you will be much happier in many aspects

go for samsung Ace.. wildfire has a really smallscreen and poor battery.. i hav used it .. though sense ui is a killer thing but if yu like bigger screen nd better processor nd battery go for Ace
Htc wildfire s is even slower than the gio, which is much cheaper.. and the ace is the better version of the gio. Buy the ace
Sent from my Xperia Arc using XDA App
Thanks for your replies guys, im going for the Galaxy Ace, not only because it is cheaper but because you all seem to know what you're talking about, so im taking your word for it! Ill hopefully be picking it up before Christmas, or as soon i sell my old phone and 'lend' the money from my parents!
Thank you.
Wildfire S
I would go for Wildfire S without any doubt.Wildfire S performs better than Ace in benchmarks,it has more RAM,Sense UI,design and build quality is great, touch sensitivity is better.Ace's processor is same as Wildfire S,only factory overclocked to 800 MHz.The only problem is battery life ,a little too short and internal memory,150 Mb user available compared to 180 Mb of Ace.

What device is the best for me?

Hi guys,
I have a question i didn't know where to post this concedering its not for a particular device or platform so i posted it here any way here is my question i have a HTC EVO 3D and i want to upgrade, why do i want to upgrade 2 reasons number one screen size its too small i had a GALAXY Note so when i went back to the EVO its small and the second one is the Processor its fast but not too fast anyway i was planning on buying the GALAX S III international version when it comes out but after i saw the price i was surprised its 800$ for the 16 GB so im stuck with the following and i need an advice (of course if by the time the S III comes out the price drops to around 600-650 i'll buy it )
Here are the phones im thinking of (and if u have other phones please tell me)
1- HTC One X international version
2-HTC Titan II
3-GALAXY Note
Please help thank you.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium HD app
I'd go for the Note. Cheaper and overall better. Sure the One X is quadcore, but Tegra kinda sucks so the extra buck you have to add isn't really worth it. Titan is quite meh.
Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Go for the One X , the screen is better the CPU is very fast and the GPU with custom roms increase the phones overall performance. I would only recommand the GALAXY Note if you email a lot because it feels like the note is designed for the business person in mind.
I don't know what kind of prices you got there guys but here the Note is about 200€ cheaper than the One X, which isn't that much better, not like 200€-better for sure IMHO. It actually is inferior for some aspects, like screen size (and pentile ain't bad on a 5.3"), removable battery, sd slot, and that pen thing that is mostly a gimmick but oh well. Once it gets even cheaper I'll definitely pull the trigger on one of those. I used one for a day last week, coupled with an extended battery and a Rii Keyboard it proved to be a very nice and portable mini tablet, the tablet mode you get on AOSP ROMs is also pretty sick. Not a great fan of those new Htc phones with locked bootloaders and all that jazz. ICS sources for the Note have just been released by the way, even better ROMs will come very soon, even tho AOKPs are already 99% hack free and rock solid.

Use a website like phonescoop.com to compare them side-by-side. See exactly what each specs are and which one has the specs you really care about. That would be of great help.

HTC One X
HTC Sence UI beats Note in 100 ways
Why not the nexus. Its much cheaper than the s3 and its a great phone. Still one of the best and probably the best price/goodness ratio.
galaxy note is the best
i have one and it's greate
I like the GALAXY Nexus cause of its display and stock ICS but i use SD Card so i need a phone with an option to expaned my memory but i kept the HTC One X cause of its Quad Core Processor
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium HD app
I dont know the price is kinda of an issue but and the screen size (im a fan of the 5"screens) its of course better in preformance no doubt but im from the few fans of the Touchwiz UI its more simple than the Sense UIor maybe cause im used to it i had 3 devices with TouchWiz so i find it easier but still the HTC One X stunning camera, preformance and display is a plus
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium HD app
Ok but the One X have a worst battery than the EVO 3D....
Galaxy Note or Galaxy S2.. with additional batteries
if easy to hold better take s2 if you want better take galaxy note or tab
I dont know but HTC devices tend to have bad battery life for some reason LOL
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium HD app
Galaxy Note very big I think.. You can't touch all screen by one hand, sometimes I you'll need that.. S2 The Best!
HTC good but not good enough
It's a year in, and I'm still really enjoying my Samsung infuse. true 4g would be nice, but the devs are working on Miui ICS and it looks awesome
i used all of them. my advice is : GALAXY Note is a good one if you don't mind the big size. then chose GALAXY S2 !

4g is good.. very good.. great, but in some places there is no 4g unfortunately only 3g or worst.
I'd like my S2 to have 4g, but it's not.. Maybe you'd better wait for S3?
I dont mind the big screen actually i want something bigger than 4.3" i dont know why many people think its too big im really into big devices but not over 5.3" cause that would be really inconvienent for a mobile phone thats why i kept in mind choices like the HTC Titan 1/2 cause i really like the Metro UI and WP is kinda between the line of simplicity and costumizations still android is the best im freaking confused guys tell me more about ur experiance with the devices ur advising thanks

[Q] Guidance Please.. Totally Confused

Hey guys,
I am planning to get a new android phone.. I am quite confused :\ Actually I own i9003 right now.. and the way samsung has treated to i9003 users I really hate samsung
Now coming to point I have shortlisted a few options.. And I really want a phone which can atleast last for 14-15 hours with Data+ auto sync on.. well screen won't be on all the time.. ( I prefer phone which are on / will get ICS or may be jelly bean very soon)
1. HTC One X
2. Samsung S3
3. Motorola Razr Maxx (GSM version)
4. Samsung Note
You can suggest a good phone if you know .. Btw I am from India so I don't have a wide choice as US though but still suggestions are most welcomed.
Please if you give your valuable opinion I will be really appreciating your time. Thanks in advance
Go for a HTC One X or Samsung S3, they got ICS out of the box, latest processors. I would probably choose HTC One X because it got nicer design and Tegra 3 chip inside but if you want a better battery, go for Samsung S3

I m from india too.
I would go for one x if i was in your place...

Thanks AzharYusri and prateek7791 for your opinion
Would also go for the one x. Actually have a version from India. Phone is beautiful
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I would go for the Samsung Galaxy S3 it was the best decision I made! I was gonna get the One X but heard battery life was terrible
Sent from my GT-I9300
If you're into rooting and flashing custom roms, I have heard Samsung is easier to root and flash. So for that reason I would suggest Samsung SIII.
Plus the removable battery is a big factor for me, as I have a SII and change batteries very frequently when one dies.
its a matter of preference
well.. here's what i can say about the device.. so its really going to be your choice or basically your own preference..
1. HTC One X
pro - nice polycarbonate body, ICS out-of-the-box, quality build, tegra3 quad-core proccy which is good for gaming (but is only available for the international version, NA versions have the Krait dual-core version)
con - not really good battery life, non-removeable and non-replaceable battery
2. Samsung S3
pro - nice vibrant AMOLED 720p screen, ICS out-of-the-box, removeable and replaceable battery (option to get a larger capacity battery), newer Exynos quad-core with a new MALI GPU
con - plastic build (but who's really looking at the back of the phone right?), better battery life due to a large battery
3. Motorola Razr Maxx (GSM version)
pro - HUGE battery life, very little bloatware (but who cares if your gona root and install custom ROMs)
con - locked bootloader, dual-core processor (compared to newer models in its league)
4. Samsung Note
pro - HUGE AMOLED screen, S-pen, S-pen applications, thin and lightweight for its size
con - dual-core processor, bad battery life with the stock battery when browsing the web
*correct me if there is anything wrong with my comments..
U can try HTC explorer coz it has good battery backup using 1.5 days with data on always and moreover it is a good decent budget phone too:highfive:
