Lets just say I have an...informator. Anyway, I texted him and asked if he knew when ICS was coming for the Skyrocket. He released the skyrocket under his wing. He said not a specific date, but sometime this summer.
So ICS devs, keep deving.

So in other words....when the international one hits. We will see that one ported before AT&T gets around to it. (the international Skyrocket or T mobile variant)

No offense but I find this hard to believe.
Why is hard to believe I got stung by Samsung in the past.
They are full of excuses but they can not explain to me why my Transformer Prime got ICS in a month and it takes them more than 6 months to upgrade this device.
They sell you a device they got paid, they get nothing by providing timely upgrades,

If I had to guess I bet the Prime has one hardware revision, and the galaxy even within the same device branding has multiple. The Windows Phone 7 Samsung Focus had major issues with updates, because Samsung made minor changes between rev 1.3 & 1.4.
As far as the release date for ICS a Samsung employee can just be repeating a rumor they heard, just as well as a non employee
When does samsung start their summer? I'm sure it's not the same months when we start ours.
Just like our Q1 isn't the same as theirs. Oh and the definition of soon between us and them seems to be pretty conflicting too.

even tho we all know it WILL take months to roll out... but just some more news,
Code:
http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2012/03/22/at_t_reveals_phones_getting_ics
AT&T has listed its smartphones that will be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming months.
Those devices are the LG Nitro, Motorola ATRIX 2, Motorola ATRIX 4G, Pantech Burst, Pantech Element, Samsung Captivate Glide, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.
The carrier made sure to note that it will take months for the updates to roll out to your device, but at least those are confirmed.

We'll get it either from T-Mobile's rollout to the Hercules or Rogers rollout to their Skyrocket clone or from AT&T.

I just hope the next couple releases don't break driver compatibility.
Like Froyo and Gingerbread weren't a big deal to upgrade from Eclair. That's good. That reduces fragmentation. When you break driver compatibility, you make upgrading a monster pain in the ass and it's slow.

I totally agree with you there.
I bought the Skyrocket for a few main reasons:
LTE
Benchmarks compared to others available at the time of purchase.
The promise of the ICS update
If I wasn't in need of a phone at the time of purchase, I would have most likely picked up the Note.
I am a patient person and can wait for the release. If I don't like what is provided I am sure there will be plenty of other ROMs to choose from at the time as ICS should be available for the other 'brother' devices shortly.
But seriously, with all of the griping that I am seeing regarding ICS it makes me wonder what is going to be said when Jelly Bean becomes available...
Just my two cents, thanks for listening.

And throttling, taking good old plans away, "droid" crap, Update's that brake flash player on 4.0 NOT 4.1 and modding the phone so that it asks for wifi 24/7/365/the rest of time.
I was really pissed at them before and now getting better some what. I hope that I can drop my AT&T line some time, but that's less likely now becuase I get very good "4G" or H+ (3-4 out of 4 bars every were there) at were I work with 5Mbs+ DL vs 1-3 bars of verizon "3G" as slow as sprint like 500kbs slow.( That's with both my razr and now my S3 by the way)
Any way flash player better still work or I will likely be going to WP8 for some of flash player to work. ( never did think that was going to happen. LOL)

After using a GNEX for the past 6 months, I am actually loving TW. I was running a TW theme on JB to make it look like an S3 but you know what, it still wasn't an S3. Now I have a TW theme and it actually is an S3 : )
So Samsung offically announced the US devices getting JB and while reading the article is says it is coming to the Galaxy S3 on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular. I was like WHAAAAAAAAT!
Then when you scroll down to the chart, is has the Verzion S3 JB update also listed as coming soon. Man, a typo like that can give someone a heart attack.

Actually it is easier to develop from AOSP. It is also easy to port from the same phone but different carriers. The difficulty comes from porting from one device to another.
