I have the same problem, on pacman its not using the proper memory card to save stuff on and after using Google maps navigation It was full after an hour....maybe something to do with the SD cards having different names??? Either way it makes it useless if you actually use your phone

Yep, thankyou I know how to browse the memory however that isnt the problem - The problem is the Gapps such as maps / navigation downloads on the fly when navigating, it fills the internal 1gb system partition in about 1-2 hours (tested twice yesterday on the way to and back from seeing Greg Davies (comedian) in Blackpool with a factory reset in the way.
It does however seem that this is a very common flaw / feature whichever way you look at it for CM10 and LG devices, if you use Root Browser / Astro / whatever, you can see that there is a mnt/sdcard which is part of the 1gb system partition, if you then look at storage/sdcard0 or storage/sdcard1 thats the problem - the apps are defaulting to the mnt/sdcard instead of storage/sdcard0 so the phone might as well be a 1gb internal memory as opposed to 8gb.
I have got ROM toolbox and used it to transfer maps over to the larger SDcard to see if this fixes it but I will have to wait and see when i go for a drive later.
I have also come across this and will try it out:
""How do I use the external SD-Card as the internal memory (swap SD-Cards)?""
Edit the 'vold.fstab' file on your phone under 'system/etc/' and change the lines to:
Code:
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard0 auto /devices/platform/sdhci-tegra.2/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount emmc /storage/sdcard1 9 /devices/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/mmc_host/mmc0
Obviously this is for a different phone so dont change that - but i imagine it will be something similar.
Doesnt work, makes having CM10 in any form 100% completley pointless unless you dont actually download anything to your phone - I simply cannot believe I am the only one having this problem or not being happy about it, I presume there is some easy fix or setting that will aloow the correct use of an internal SD card?
Any advice would be appreciated - at this moment I cant even install FIFA as thats all my space gone - even in ROMToolbox - select in apps2sd where the default save location is and it still puts it on the 1gb system partition.
And now again not enough space... I'm enable nightless update check and perform 2 update download, i think that it fill space mabey cache?
How i can show size of folders in internal card? Default file browser not show it...
Use ADB to check the /system? Since that's what it is most likely nagging about, or if you are still able ES file manager or something with root access.
You could always use the shell to make symlinks from directories to prevent some of the apps from saving stuff where it shouldn't. But I'm almost assuming that your log files are filling up fast and thus are causing the issues.
FINALLY!
GPS log ****s in /data/gps/log, size of this dir is 770Mb...
Solution:
1) Run: "Terminal emulator"
2) Type: "su" and press enter
3) Type: "cd /data/gps/log" and press enter
4) Type: "rm *" and press enter
If you whant to see size of logs Type: "du" and press enter after step 3

You can use this Script, found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37286856&postcount=1180
and execute it with smanager after each boot or net change.
It does not block, but deletes it automatically.

ok suddenly today my phone just rebooted while using a camcorder app called ancorder. but after reboot, it kept saying that it was checking sd card for errors. my sd card was unaccessible except for my second partition (where all my apps are stored via link2sd). then i just uninstalled the camcorder app and all the folders associated with it. after that i rebooted the phone a couple of times to see if the sd card error would go away but instead it got worse. now after rebooting, and after entering my pattern for pattern lock, it kepps saying launcher pro force close. it keeps on force closing again and again. what do i do to save my phone? Any help would be deeply appreciated.
(I own a milestone xt720 that is rooted and apps are stored via link2sd in sd card second partition. i am using stock 2.1.)

I think this has happened to many of us.
Remove the SD card and put it directly into a computer to do filesystem repair. (If you aren't able to put it directly into a computer, second best is USB mode from OpenRecovery followed by whatever your computer's safely remove/eject proceedure is and an immediate phone reboot or battery pull when you're done just to be safe). If that fails, copy what you can and reformat the FAT partition. Basically the phone's FAT filesystem repair doesn't seem to be sophisticated enough to handle some types of corruption that seem to happen.
Some people will say it's not necessary to use the safely remove/eject procedure when using USB access because FAT is designed for unsafe removal, but my experience says otherwise. I've started to safely remove religiously (since late Feb-ish) and I've gone from nearly weekly corruption to only once when I forgot to do that. In any case using safely remove won't do any harm.
Another thing to know about the ext partition--the phone does not unmount /sd-ext when it is exported over USB (that's why widgets and such can be stored there safely but not on the main FAT partition). This may also be true in OpenRecovery (it's mounted as /sddata there). When it's exported over USB, the ext partition becomes a live filesystem managed by both your phone and your computer and neither seems to understand that the other can be changing the filesystem simultaneously. Probably if you're using Windows or MacOS this isn't a problem (unless you're modifying partitions or reformatting) because they're don't know what to do with ext partitions (by default that is). On the other hand, linux systems may automount it (I know Ubuntu does). This can lead to corruption and data loss on the ext partition if you monkey with the ext partition over USB mode (i.e. repartitioning etc).

I'm not sure. Have you tried disabling Advanced Task Killer?
I think the worst case solution is factory reset, but you'll lose your data and configurations. It looks like you have OpenRecovery installed so you could try backing up System, Data, Cache, and SD Data using nandroid and then try a factory reset to test.
Boot into OpenRecovery, wipe Dalvik-cache & cache partition, rebbot, it's worth a shot.

This will just clear out some temporary files & the phone will rebuild the dalvik-cache on reboot (which will take a little longer).

First make nandroids of system and data. Then upgrade your OpenRecovery to Androidiani OpenRecovery (basically update files on your sd card). In Androidiani OpenRecovery try to use the Application Management Menu to uninstall Launcher Pro. Hopefully you will be able to get the stock launcher after a reboot then. If so, delete all of Launcher Pro's data from the /data partition and then reinstall Launcher Pro from the market.
If you don't mind losing all your preferences and reinstalling your apps, it may just be faster to jump directly to "Wipe Data / Factory Reset" in Open Recovery. If that doesn't work it means your /system partition is corrupted.

Short form:
Download OpenRecovery-3_3.zip from here http://code.google.com/p/androidiani-openrecovery/
Rename /sdcard/OpenRecovery directory to /sdcard/OpenRecovery.bak (directory only, leave /sdcard/OpenRecovery.zip alone it should stay the same as before you started anything)
Extract OpenRecovery-3_3.zip into /sdcard (will create a new /sdcard/OpenRecovery folder and add /sdcard/update.zip)
Copy contents of /sdcard/OpenRecovery.bak/updates into new /sdcard/OpenRecovery/updates (Optional)
Reboot into OpenRecovery (same methods as before)
That's all folks!
Just a word of warning: Androidiani is very Milestone A853 centric. I wouldn't touch any of their baseband utilities with a 10-foot pole.

I used Link2SD on CM10.1.4 (Android 4.2.2) of Jenkins. I've not problems. Before install ROM need partition SD Card on FAT32 and ext4 partitions. Now can install ROM. After install ROM, install Link2SD. Open Link2SD and select ext4, wait to make script. When script make you'll get a notification that the script is done and to you need reboot phone. Reboot phone. After reboot phone, open Link2SD and in Settings check Auto link. Exit from Link2SD and it is it.
When you install applications, you can get notification that is memory full. After this notification, reboot phone and memory will be O.K.
I do all your same step, and usually after reboot i have about 70 MB free, but in this last day i have noticed that i have an icon that tell me that my internal memory is full.
My only difference from u is that i use ext3 part and not ext4, but i think it is the same.
DO u have any suggestion ?

Need be ext3 or ext4. JellyBread I don't tried.
I don't partition with CWM. I do it with MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition. I installed it on PC and I connect phone with PC over USB.

Select FAT32 Primary partition and ext4 Primary partition.

I not use BALTROM. I don't know. I use CM10.1.4 of Jenkins.
Do u know if CM10.1.4 is fully translate in Italy? Because otherwise my parents cannot understand English
First why:
When I got this phone I was disappointed with fact that primary storage isn't switchable and free user data space is approximately 2.2 GB. Which means that all application data goes to internal storage so it is impossible to use apps like Need for Speed, Navigation app, ShowBox and others. I believe you all find that annoying.
After I saw @Dhruvit Pokharna topic I started to poke a little bit over XDA and I noticed that this was done before ( back in 2012 ) and with various Samsung phones. So I decided to change and adapt script for our phone. Original script was created by @mattiadj from whom I still waiting for permission to change script and to publish it. But I'am going to do it anyway.
What the script do:
It swipe internal sd (/storage/sdcard0) with external micro sd (/storage/extSdCard) and viceversa.
"With this you can use default internal sd only for app storage and the external sd to store all apps resource and all others stuff"
required:
- root
- custom recovery
- kernel with init.d support
- BusyBox-v1.23.0-Stericson
- swap_intsd2extsdcard_SM-G355HN
How to and why:
Before installing swap if you moved some apps to sd move it back to phone to avoid conflict of course.
1. Root your phone first
2. Install custom recovery *(here or here)
3. Make a backup. Just in case of zombie attack *
4. Install kernel with init.d support *(here or here)
5. Install BusyBox-v1.23.0-Stericson.zip (flashable provided below )
6. Install swap_intsd2extsdcard_SM-G355HN.zip (flashable provided below)
7. Why * because you have choice
That's it. Your external sd is internal now and you can enjoy your big internal memory.
If you want to reverse it simply go to /system/etc/init.d delete 11extsd2internalsd and reboot your phone.

Tutotial is simple. Step by step.
I don't see reason why you can't use this if your Phone has same spec as mine .
Check with root explorer following :
/storage/sdcard0
/storage/extSdCard
/dev/block/vold/179:129
If this is it you're good to go..
And for your existing game data just copy it after at proper place
Here is whole script:

mount -t vfat -o umask=0000 /dev/block/vold/179:129 /storage/sdcard0
sleep 30
mount -o bind /data/media /storage/extSdCard

Install applications from play store goes to default internal memory without problem.
When you have downloaded apk from some other site only way for now is to copy it to /data/app than change permission and owner and install it from there. I still didn't figured it out why is that only way for download and backuped apks.
Regarding data app I think you mean what was asked in second post. If you used link2sd or some similar app after swaping just check are data and obb are stored under folder /Android in your external SD so that you could use your saved apps resources.

Hi!
File Commander shows the swap (a lot of memory as device memory) and a little amount (the internal, as sd card memory), but when I get into app administration it only shows the small amount of memory as the avaible for applications, I've tried downloading some apps after the process just to see if that amount was static but it keeps going down with every app, so I guess it isn't working, or only games and apps which use large amounts of memory are saved at the external storage?
Edit: I can't neither nstall apps directl from the storage, just from the play store.
Thanks! :good:

I found something, I don't know if it is a bug or me doing something wrong, any app that messes with the identity of the phone doesn't seems to work. I've tried with "Tablet Metrics" module with the xposed framework and Rom toolbox lite, also doesn't work changing the device id.

Well, i already did it, ty Revert works very good
But i wanted to know what i can make wrong. I mean i did everything as it wrote in title. But maybe such fail was already corrected by some user.
And also free space was the same for card and phone memory. i mean if free memory on phone is 200mb, then on sd card its also 200mb.

If you looking in settings storage you will see that. It's the way it is because I couldn't swap whole data partition. I only swap extSdCard with legacy sdcard0 or internal memory. Swapping mmcblk0p22 with mmcblk1p1 wouldn't work because p22 is fst ext4 and p1 is vfat.

Y300-0100 said:

I have made both partitions as primary and then followed your instructions. When I execute link2sd after installing from sdcard it asks to choose the format for the second partition of the sdcard. then I select fat32 an reboot.
after following your instructions the apps are beeing installed to the ext2 folder (also to the app folder).
But when I check the phones internal memory, it shows a decrease of space, after installing an app.
The Settings only show the phones internal memory an the one fat32 partition of the external sdcard. but nor the ext4 partition?

Noooo!
When asks to choose the format for the second partition of the sdcard you must select EXT4 than reboot. Still the same you had created with mini partition tool, but he need to recreate to create the mount script to.
That's why it fails.

Hi!
This is a light version. Has missing some permissions ( fixed ) and busybox tools ... :/ ( fixed to )
It create a full root WITH option to send your apps to sd card automatically!
How?
Because it create a funtional init.d folder in system/etc where you can put your own scripts to start on boot, giving you full control from your ROM/phone and if you have a ext4 partition in sd card ( 3 GB that's enough ), it will send your apps to sd card releasing storage.
LTE device have a default 2GB /data storage for apps and user definitions, phone call, etc. 3G device is worse!!!
So for a LTE device, 3GB from sd partition + 2GB from data partition = 5GB!
To show you why don´t need more, i have at this momente 61 app in /data/app ( in sd ext4 partition ) that fill 750MB - > 61 apps!!!
If you have a LTE device and your /data partiton is resized you can push a litle the size from external partition to 4GB ( that's enough ), im still trying to find a good size for external partition.
Why don´t need a bigger size?
Because there are file that still inside data partition, in /data/data and dalvik-cache, that still filling up data partition... you can´t take them all ...
3G devices need to be rooted with SuperSu zip first ( i don´t know way ) ... im a LTE user.

See if you miss same thing:
need root
Need to have the ext4 partiton in sd card ( i use mini partition tool for windows)
Do backup from your data, apps, contacts, msg, etc, with default app in phone to restore after factory reset
download Root browser and link2sd from Google play, go to data app look for it (Root Browser: black folder with a android pirate and Link2 sd: Blue sd card icon) and copy to sd card
do factory reset but in inicial settings DON´T ACTIVATE GOOGLE ACCOUNT turn all connection off.
install Root Browser and link2sd from sd card
execute link2sd to mount ext4 partition from sd card, reboot
execute Root Browser, go to data a rename app folder to _app
look for sdext2 and create a short cut and paste in the same place, rename it app, reboot
activate Google account, now all should be working fine.
you will noticed that link2sd and root browser are missing, is because they are in _app and that folder is no longer in use, the apps can be deleted. Don´t install link2sd again, only root browser if you need it.
Tell me if you understand it

I followed all steps again, but still the same problem. The strange thing is that the whole method works fine, except installing the apps. It's like my phone doesn't accept me using a ext4 partition instead of the 'original app'. Maybe it's because of a software restriction android uses in their operating systems... I have no clue at all. I will keep searching the internet, as soon as find something I will post it here.
You should definitely change the permissions too. However this method seems convenient, it will reduce the lifetime of your sd card and you will risk data loss. I think the repartition script is better.
The time life still the same, only the apk goes to sd card.
So is like any other file, like mp3 for example, it writes the file (apk ) , than only reads when need it to load in RAM ( I think you know that all the work is in RAM ). The apps lib files and dalvik-cache still in data partition.
If you do a factory reset the apps still gonna be there, you don't loose them, only need to re-create the process in phone, reboot and they will automatically installed.
This and the resize of data partition will make you a huge amount of data storage, i have 8,5Gb for data storage ....
Hi!
I re-edit the main post with a functional solution.

When I bought this phone (LG Optimus L90 D410 Dual) 2 years ago, when I checked the storage, system was using only 3GB, which left me with 5GB (it has a total of 8GB). But now, when I check how much system storage is using, it is using 5GB, leaving me with only 3GB of storage. How can I make my system data as small as it was back when I bought it?

clear junk data using clean master app or use sd maid pro for better cleaning..... and if you want your storage like before as was your phone new.. you shall carry less apps as less you can... and move apps to sd card for more system storage.....
The thing is, I already use Clean Master (frequently), the apps I install they all use the 3GB of storage I have and I can't move apps to sd card cuz' I'm on 6.0.1 (Cyanogenmod 13)
EDIT: System data was using 5GB before I installed CM 13

Try debloating your current android installation by removing system apps that you would not use. This can be accomplished using applications such as <Mod snip of warez reference > or system app remover in Google Play.
All the bloatware I have with CM 13 is some apps that only use KB of storage and Gapps (Nano), which they all sums up 293.6MB

The problem is that the disk is partitioned in such a way that leaves little space for apps.
What you should do:
1. Shrink /system partition where it has enough memory to do all it's stuff, but doesn't take up too much space. You said 3GB worked fine in the past and it probably will now.
2. Allocate the unused space to the /data partition
Warning: If repartitioning goes wrong it will most likely result in a hard brick. Know what you're doing.
Warning 2: Many people say you should never repatition your phone. You will no longer be able to instal updates and the space you take away from the system may be critical storage used for device recovery or some kind of backup or emergency mode. Try app2sd or (if you're hardcore into moving stuff) link2sd.
1st: I thought of resizing the system partition, so I googled it and couldn't find anything, so how do I resize a partition on my phone?
2nd: If I make a backup of my entire phone through TWRP in case anything goes wrong, if I hard brick my device could I just restore the backup?
3rd: I already tried App2SD and Link2SD, but when i partitioned my SD Card, it gave an error. (Gonna move the things inside the SD Card to my PC and try to partition it, so I can specify the error)
if you have upgraded Android it could be that the newer versions are larger than the old one due to more features?

So it looks like your system is taking up less than a GB. Have you used Root Browser to check what is in that MNT folder? The reason I asked is because I checked my Nexus 6 and my LG G Pad 7.0 and I don't see the MNT folder anywhere. I am running Android 5.0.1 on both devices. Below are screenshots of both of my devices
There are 2 links to my home directory (on "asec, expand, media_rw, obb, sdcard, secure and user" folders), and a runtime folder, which has 3 folders(default, read and write), with the 3 of them being a link to the /storage folder

Does your phone support external SD card or is it all internal?
It supports external SD, but I "can't" move anything to it cuz I'm on 6.0.1, so I would have to transform it into Internal Storage and I could transform it into Mixed Storage, but the problem is that whenever my SD Card is Internal or Mixed Storage, it randomly pops out, forcing me to turn off my phone, re-insert my SD card and boot it again. I'm not with it cuz' currently I'm putting some pdf files to it on my PC

When I checked the directory it specified, I realized that I didn't have the 179:66 file, the one I have is public:179_66. The temporary solution (cuz' the file got deleted when i rebooted my phone) was create a hard link from public:179_66 to 179:66, which resulted on the error "Invalid Argument" (Sorry if something's written worng, English is not my native language)

So back to the main issue, according to your X-Plore results, your system folder is only taking up 876mb. I would download a root file explorer such as Root Explorer and explore the various folders such as Data (2.99gb) and MNT (1.34gb) and see if you have some temp files you can get rid of. There are also apps such as CCleaner that will scan your device for temp/cache files you can safely remove to make more room.
