Recording video is zoomed in compared to taking a photo?

When i switch to video in the camera app the view is zoomed in compared to taking a photo. This is the minimum zoom level in the video mode but would be zoomed in a few times in photo mode.
Anyone else experiencing this and know how to fix it? I've had this issue with all the roms i've tried - ICS & GB.
It's really annoying having to stand far away from the thing I want to record

yeah in video mode the image is little bit zoomed ( i would say 2x max) but that will not cause any trouble at all you can still take videos of near objects with ease...
BTW if you want your video quality to be quadrupled try this mod...the video quality is amazing im taking videos of my niece and they are absolutely godly when compared to crappy stock video
try the mod if you have custom rom installed

It is very annoying and I find I have to move quite far back to record a video of something right infront of me, unlike just taking a photo.
Yeah i know about that mod and love it, it increased video & photo quality by 1000%

[Q] Samsung Nexus S: manually set the ISO value when taking pictures

I tried to find an alternative camera app which would allow me to manually set the ISO value however I wasn't successful. I came across Camera360 and Camera FV-5 which should support this. In case of FV-5 I really could change the ISO value but it had no effect at all, the camera was still automatically adjusting to the light, and Camera360 said that this feature wasn't supported by my phone which was rather disappointing. So do you think that there is something I could do about it? Maybe trying an alternative ROM with different camera driver?
I'm using rooted stock Android 4.0.4.
EDIT: I also tried HDR Camera app and surprisingly it worked as expected. As far as I know, HDR effect in this app is achieved by taking two (or more) pictures with different light sensitivity (ISO value) and combining them into final picture. So assuming I understand this correctly, it must be somehow possible to force ISO value to the camera and Camera360 or FV-5 just don't how to do that... So maybe I just have to find another app... any ideas?

[Q] Camera App?

I have noticed that the camera pictures have very low size 0.5 mb my old nokia e51 pictures were larger... I had one app I can't remember the name, the pictures quality were much greater.. So is there any app that can beat the stock app??

You shouldn't take the size of a picture as a reference for quality. It depends on many factors how big a file would be. Speaking from my experience a wide photo is bigger than a zoomed in photo because it has more details to take in, a photo in a brighter light gives a bigger size, a photo with a lots of details and colors also gives a bigger size. Plus technology is advancing at rapid pace so you can't compare cameras on different devices from different times.
As alternatives you can try something like: Camera FV-5 (emulates a DSLR with many of its functions) or you can try putting on a stock camera from LG Prada or LD O3D Max (normally to have these you must flash a ROM) or you can look at here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1502963 - a thread about camera mods on O3D
I also recommand some other apps that gives more functionality to the stock camera: Fast Burst Camera - takes like 100 shots in about 20 secs - good to make animated gifs, and Lapse It - an app that takes and wrap it up timelapse pictures into a movie.

[Q] Different image size

Hello,
*I have isocell sensor but when i take a picture with the stock camera the size of the pictures is about 4-5 mb and when i take a picture with fv-5 app the size is almost doubled
like 9-10 mb
It is normal?
Maybe the stock camera is set to take photos with lower quality?
The fv-5 take better photos?
Someone help pls
Most likey set on a different resolution.

Take better low pictures using google camera and HDR mode

Hi Guys,
I wanted to let you all know that I happened to install Google camera as I was not particularly impressed with the noisy low light photos of the stock camera app.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the results using the google camera after enabling the HDR mode ,the low lights are vastly better than the stock camera in HDR mode, also photos in HDR mode with the google camera are saved much faster than the stock camera in the HDR mode.
Please note that google camera doesn’t show up for me in play store ,so I have side loaded 3.1.025 version .it’s not all rosy though, as the video mode is not working for me and there are occasional FC’s while the pic has been clicked and if you press the home button.
But despite all these, I honestly can’t go back to the stock camera for low light photos,I would suggest you all give it a try and let me know your thoughts.
Cheers.
Attaching some low light picture taken using the google camera.dont have the stock app photos side by side for comparison.sorry.
I have found low light with stock RAW very good as you can control noise levels and lights, even the simple gallery app DNG post treatment make very good results

Thanks for the Tip mate ,would try it out.I am inclined towards google camera because without any post processing the images have lesser noise compared to the stock camera.I would try to post some better pics,I will admit the ones I have put dont make a strong case for themselves because I was just trying them out
Cheers.
