Hi
Has anyone had any problems with the
"BLACK RESIN Soft Gel Case for the HTC DESIRE" from ebay
As it is quite 'firm' I'm concerned over time it will scratch or damage the desire's casing ..
Does anyone know of a decide soft flexible silicon case for the desire. One that can't damage the casing...?
any ideas / or comments ?
you might want to look at the invis shield thread which people are using, that seems to do the trick and is good
Thanks. Not sure I like them.
I got one. It is quite difficult to fit the desire in as the case is quite tight. It looks ok though after fitting the phone in
I have been using a 'Gel' case off ebay for about a month now and i too had concerns that it would damage to phone but I have taken it off a couple of times and there isn't a single mark anywhere on the phone!
It was a UK based one for like £2 i got.
Phil
I think a gel case would be OK, but this is a 'resin' case.. which is a little firm..
Thats what concerns me !!
Well mine is like a resin I guess. Like soft plastic material. It is quite firm and takes a bit of getting the phone in/out but like I say it hasn't make a single mark on the phone.
Phil
Cheers Phil..
I've ordered a cheap soft silicone case.. I'll see how that compares..
I had one of the soft silicone ones and although they are good protection wise and easy to get on and off I had a couple of issues with it.
I found that it made the rear of the phone go 'weird'. Hard to describe really but it made marks on the back cover with it being rubberised and having the rubber case on it left marks on the cover. They have rubbed off and dissapeared over time but I only used the case for about a week.
I found that it made the phone very bulky hence why i went for the 'Gel' one.
It was hard to get it in and out of my pocket as it gripped on my clothes too much.
Phil
Thanks for the replies.
The soft silicone case has arrives, doesn't feel as nice or fit as well as the resin case.
But doesn't feel like it will do any damage to the phone.
I'll see how I get on
i have one if those soft silicone cases, and ive noticed that when i remove it the back of my desire is unusually shiny, and now im wondering if that will return to the original non shine surface..
I had the same thing. It has returned to the normal state after using a gel case for a while.

This is why I went with the cheapo Gel case. I've had mine off and on a few times - no marks or anything. I was sending a text in a club and the phone was knocked out of my hand across the floor. No marks on case or anything.
The silicone case I have for my Blackberry is great although it tends to pull everything out of your pocket including the inside of the pocket - little annoying. Although it sticks to everything. you could leave it on the dash board of the car whilst driving and it wouldnt move at all.
pro's and cons. I prefer the gel one personally. Although the silicone stickyness comes in handy.
haha, my soft silicone case lost some of its traction i dont know why lol.
I've been looking around for cases for my desire,
can anyone recommend any sites that sells the resin gel ones the cheapest and has reputation for fast shipping?
I live in Canada, as much as I enjoy buying stuff online, I feel like I have to wait for like 100 years for an item to get here.
just changed my resin case to a soft gel.
Feels better add that to my new pouch that take the desire in the gel case..
Sorted
I've never had a slider phone before, so I was wondering if it is feasible / likely that there will be soft cases available for the Epic? I really love the OEM silicone case my BB Curve 8330 has - it protects it from scratches and bumps while being relatively thin and pleasant to hold (and dirt cheap, too!). While I think reasonable people can differ, I believe soft cases offer better protection from drops (not just protecting the actual corners like a hard case, but reducing the shock to the phone as a whole).
I can see how it could be difficult to get a soft case to properly adhere to the phone, but I've also seen a few such cases for the Moment (though not very many, and not through more established channels - just isolated ones on eBay). Is this just a matter of taste, or does that type of case not work well with sliders (either because it won't stay on, or because in order to do so, it must impede either the sliding mechanism or other functions of the phone)?
I was looking for a case the other day and I did see one listed, but I'd like to see how it actually works. With a slider, most cases are two part -- the top piece snaps onto the screen, and the back piece snaps onto the back.
The top piece generally doesn't have a lot of surface area and really only protects the edges and gives it a lip so you can put the screen face down on a table or something. But because of that, you don't have a lot to work with for surface area for the case to grip onto.
http://store.cheapdroids.com/Zooly-Silicone-Skin-Jelly-Case-Orange-for-Samsung-Epic-4G.html is that soft case I was looking at.
In looking at that one and reading the description, it's not totally apparent to me that the case allows you to slide out the keyboard. It almost looks like a conventional silicone case, and perhaps you have to remove it to slide open the keyboard (which would stink). Alternatively, maybe there's an opening for the keyboard on the side, but then the back half of the phone would have to be able to slide relatively frictionlessly against the back part of the case.
I wish they had more pictures, or, better yet, that someone would post a hands-on review!
Thanks for the info though - it's good to have someplace to start!
the screen is big enough to use the virtual keyboard they should make a soft gel case that prevents it from opening ive had the phone for a while and i still haven't used the keypad
I saw a silicone soft case for the Moto Cliq in a Tmobile store.
See I want Samsung branded accessories for the Epic. Which means the belt pouch, and the gel case. Do you think any place will offer it?

Maybe so, but if I was content with that, I'd have probably kept my Evo!
When I picked up my Epic 4G this am from Radio Shack, I bought one of those soft rubberly like cases that fit the Epic perfectly. All appropriate areas are open. It is a two piece and the slider works with them in place no problem. Cost was $14.99 and is black in color.

Is it silicone or TPU? And I would love to see pictures if you don't mind.

I got that one too, then took it the hell off. My case did not slide well with it on, like there was some friction, and then the front part of the keypad got a few light scuffs from said friction. If yours fits, thats all good and dandy, but mind did not.
Yup, I just did the same, took off that
Yup, I just did the same. I took off that cover. I took a closer look at it and the nubs that snap the cover to the Epic do slightly stick up enough to prevent a smooth closing of the cover. Guess I will just have to keep in in one of those special cases or wallet like thingies for protection then.
Disappointing to hear, I prefer a softer case
I went ahead and ordered some $4 shipped case off of eBay just to see what that's about. I'll try to post pictures once I get it.
I got this case off of ebay and it work fine so far. http://cgi.ebay.com/Carbon-Fiber-Ha...665056?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item51949cf420 $6.95 shipped was worth giving a try.

haha yeah fake carbon is a no-no. anywho, i ordred the plain black version from ebay and its exactly the same on that radio shack was offering except it was for $7 instead of the $14.99. its hard plastic but coated with rubber. i got it today in the mail, put it on and then quickly took it off. it lightly scratched my keys .. i kept the bottom part (battery part) on for now cuz i do not want to scratch the bottom.
This is the downfall of sliders
Limited case selection!
It's hard to find a TPU case or a Silicone case like the ones the hero uses.
The ones that you guys are talking about (the two piece) ones do little to absorb shock. They're plastic coated with basically soft touch rubber...

X2
The only TPU or Gel cases that I have seen that work well with sliders and provide protection are the Crystal slips ( Ebay, Boxwave ), TPU Gel cases ( Ebay ).
I have a Crystal slip on my Touch Pro 2 and love it but it will be a few weeks before the template comes out for a Epic 4g crystal slip.
I dropped my first DVP and am awaiting an replacement...(the screen shattered)...
so I am paranoid of this happening again and I would like a case which protects the screen pretty well (in one way or another) and I have had trouble finding any cases except 1 or two types and leather pouches or holsters...
I don't believe a screen protector would protect it against cracks very well...
any options?
I haven't seen any bumpers or other common phone accessories for the DVP (I don't think we even have official car chargers yet). I feel like this phones lack of popularity (adoption by major carriers) and portrait-slider form factor is going to continue hurting our accessory selection.
I think your only real choice for drop protection is the Otterbox.
what about those pdair cases:

http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_500000_11001081&products_id=31671
or monoco cases:
http://cgi.ebay.com/MONACO-ALUMINUM...060730?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5d2e23dcba
IDK...I noticed some of them are the type where they have a type of latch on one side (so they basically open up like a book kind of)... I dont know if that would be a pro or con since I have never used such a case..
edit:
I think the 'monoco' case is the same thing as one of the pdair's above...
I like my otterbox from dell. It protects the edges where the gorrilla glass is the most vulnerable. Plus I find that the silicon buttons for volume and camera are much more tactile when using compared to the standard button. IT does add some bulk but it reall covers almost everything you can think of.

Would you mind posting some pics of it?
Is there a way to use a Dell Venue case?... maybe get two silicone / tpu type (or any actually) cases for a dell venue, maybe cut each half way down the side giving one slack on one side and the other slack on the other to make two pieces -one for your screen and the other for the back / keyboard section... ? idk just a quick idea haha

does it at a lot of bulk? like do you have any phone you can compare it to (size wise) when it has the case on ? (i.e. it is about the thickness of a g1.. or something along those lines...)
I am still worried about the screen somewhat, the piece that covers the screen -does it have any silicone type backing? I think I saw one of those pdair cases or something which had a silicone backed front plate (if that is what you would call it? lol)
anyone got any insight?
hey, i bought the dell venue pro otterbox, let me tell u whats cool about it other than the fact that it has a dell logo in the back..after putting it on the phone...the phone now feels like military tank...feels great..and looks safe....but there might be a few issues....first of all...if u manage to drop ur tank, the front cover just hits the ground comes off and flies away...so the screen is still exposed after the first hit..and other problem i noticed was that the beautiful design behind the screen (once u slide it up) is getting a little abraded.
thats about it....
on the whole a good case, i'd say..
When I bought my Venue, it came with an Otterbox. The otterbox had an Invisible Shield screen protector that came with the package (silicon, hard shell), and the phone, while being a bit more bulky, is protected from almost everything now. The only problem is that the otterboxes are a pain to get off when you put it on.
Is there a silicone skin that can be used on the DVP? I just want something that will protect the back half. Also, ideally, would like to see something that's not so slick. ... Something that won't slide around in the car ifI hit the brakes a bit too hard.

Mine fell quite a distance the other day. Got to say, the Otterbox works
Have looked all over the net, am I missing something?
I got one of the cheap i9020 rubber ones and am using it as a temp measure, but its rubbish and stinks!!!...lol
Any help guys?
I have a 9020t myself and just ordered a carbon fiber skin from skinomi. Im not sure if there are differences between nexus s models, but I'll definitely let you know once I get my case.
Side note: I stayed away from rubber and plastic cases as I put my device in my pocket and the rubber can cause problems to pull it out. Large plastic cases might scratch the device itself from shifting so I suggest getting something that fits really tight.
I think you missed my point bro, I have the i9023 but cannot find a case for it anywhere, they are all for the 9020t which is smaller, therefore a case that is a tight fit on yours will be impossible to fit onto mine, unless it is soft rubber, which is what I have but dont want. Someone on here must have found a nice case for the i9023???
The only cases I found so far that say they are for i9023 are the ones from Momax. I don't quite like their design, though
Many thanks suksit, just what I was after!
Today I just picked up a mint condition Moto X 2014, customized on top of customized. Black face with black front accents and a bamboo back with a silver frame and silver rear accents. I couldn't ask for a better color combination. Now I'm having trouble picking out a case. Of course I want the bamboo to show, but I also want to keep the metal from getting dinged up. And even more so, I want to protect the glass edges on the front. I'd like to get a bumper, but Hula is the only backless rubber bumper I've found. Unfortunately, nobody has them in black at the moment, and I don't like the colors that are currently available. I also don't like the look of the 100% clear rubber cases on a black face.
So, has anybody tried one of the metal bumpers found all over eBay? I like the look but I'm concerned that a metal bumper on the metal frame would cause scratches. Or even worse, if the metal bumper were to abrade against the wood back there could be scratches or gouges in the finish. Any experience or opinions here?
Also, does anybody know of a rubber bumper case with an open back besides the Hula? Or even better, a rubber case that has black edges and a full clear back? I'll probably end up getting a Supcase Unicorn Beetle for now because that's as close as I can find. But the back of the Supcase is opaque, not fully clear, and it has colored grip areas that intrude into the wood space on the sides of the back. I looked at the Poetic Affinity, but that looks too industrial for me. Especially when compared to the seriously awesome look of the naked Moto. I know I probably sound absurdly picky, but we're talking about a phone where one of it's most touted features is the ability to customize it, right?
Oh, and I tried to search the Accessories forum, but the search bar seems to be missing on my screen. So I spent the last 4 hours manually searching through the threads here and cross-referencing them with Google. If anybody has any ideas, suggestions or input, I'd be very happy to hear it. Especially if it involves customizing of accessories.

I have the same color combination on my phone.
I have the SUPCASE, black surround with frosted back. The actual frosting on mine is very slight, almost perfectly clear.
I also found this case on Amazon which might fit your needs:
http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Case-Pro..._UL160_SR160,160_&refRID=19ZQH1HS8H411V2A8573
I am currently using a Case-mate Gelli Case for Moto X. Same as this case sold through the Motorola store but I bought it through Ebay for much less:
http://www.motorola.com/us/consumers/cases-FLEXR2/
I like this case a little better than the other because it fits in my holster better and just feel better in my hand but it does not offer the same level of protection as the others.

This one appears to have a black edge with a clear back which would be PERFECT if I could find it for sale anywhere. The Motorola site doesn't have any, the Case-mate site doesn't even list the Gelli series for our phone, and there's none to be found on eBay or Amazon. If you, or anyone else knows where I can get one, I'd be extraordinarily thankful. Or perhaps if someone on here has one to sell, I'm all ears.
