Hi to you All.
I just have a Question and i really have no experience with this forum ( new to it ).
I don't know where to post my question, I posted it in a reply in some Threads but i didn't get any answer, so i posted it here and if there is anything wrong feel free to tell me in-order to learn .
I have a new international Samsung GT-N7100, and i wanna root it and put fine Rom in it.
How can i know that is a good Rom for me? What makes a Rom better than the others? Does Rooting legal or illegal?
Note: please send me a message with the comments and answers so that i can see it, because for my 1st time sure i will be lost .
Thanks in advance
This should belong to Q&A section....

So I've been looking around for a couple of days in hopes that someone would post a stock rom to flash back to but I haven't been able to locate one. I've searched the forum but wasn't able to find one (if you guys find one please let me know!).
It'd be nice if someone could give us any word as to whether or not the original STOCK rom is attainable to flash back to. I recently flashed a ROM but decided to go back to stock as it performed better, in my biased opinion of course.
If anyone knows of this please help! If your'e in the same boat as I am, please bump!
Thanks
Your fix is listed five threads down from yours.

Please follow the rules. If you didn't make "it," then "it" probably doesn't belong in the development forums. Moved to Q&A.

I wouldn't have caught that as the forum is dynamic; its always changing orders depending on most recent activity. Thanks for the link!

buddy as u are new here so i am telling u sweetly that this is second thread in complete wrong section i.e. development section. From next time all ur querries, question u must post in general section. Otherwise u will scold by forum member.
Second thing is that if u dont know what to do with phone after rooting then u must 1st do ur android related homework. Try to understand how android phone works, benefits & risks related to rooting etc. Dont expect spoon feeding here just by throwing every small question here.
As Vishal posted above, please post in the appropriate section. and you do want to do your homework.
Hi, have you seen this other section? http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1369

So I post a thread about asking a question in this forum . And instead of getting help , I get opinions and a closed thread . Must feel like a big man closing threads on people who ask questions or ask for something that's not on here yet .
Awesome help . Thanks again .

Excuse me? Not to be "a big man" but what is your issue? I am not aware of the question you asked or where you asked it, but there is probably a good reason it was closed. Do us all a favor and stop before you say something you'll regret.
This is a thread for questions and answers, not spam. Thread reported.

Not sure what happen in that post.
What you can do is flash cwm recovery, use the cwm backup of the 1.84.
Once done you can flash back TWRP recovery again and make a backup of your phone using TWRP recovery.
A little long process but should work since there's not a TWRP backup of 1.84.

Well, as I do agree that his "question" should have been answered, I still believe that was completely uncalled for and inappropriate to post this thread.

This post certainly is inappropriate... but I do agree with OP
He asked a legit question in the right forum? What was the big deal???
Sorry I don't have a clean backup for u. Hopefully u find what u r looking for. Or, u can just flash ruu in bootloader as was suggested.

Okay I agree making a thread for getting no help or even an answer was pretty lame , your right . BUT it is the only way for people to see what is going on . I did ask a legit question in the right forum and I still get flamed by senior members in an absolutely inappropriate way . And thread closed before I can answer back . Now I call that freaking lame .
But on another note thank you to guys guys who actually took their time to answer the question . I appreciate it

I saw your post and didn't think it out of line, just had no nandroid
baseballfanz suggestion was way to go
flash cwr, install stock nandroid, flash twrp, back up--done in 10-15 minutes

Dont forget to fastboot boot recovery.img and flash the firmware pack available somewhere around here...updated radio, wifi, kernel and dsp images that won't flash with CWR.
cwr 5.8.3.1 is now available thru Rom Mgr if you don't have fastboot
nandroid will restore all but radio if you want a different radio then you have--that is true for cwr or twrp
so barring radio--which is a whole different set of procedures--it still should take only 15 minutes
less time than all these posts took--

First off, You did NOT post in the right section, you posted in General and you should have posted in Q&A.
Secondly this thread is useless and as such will be closed, however.....
Lastly, I don't know why exactly it was closed, but I will reopen the original thread and contact the mod that closed it to see what his reason was.
Not sure if this is posted in the right section sorry if it isn't but..
May I request for this 'not-so-popular' device to have a forum/section? Me and a couple others are working on this device' development, so it would be easier for us to talk about development or ROMs etc. Thanks!

Good morning. Let me try to help you out... There are a ton of detailed instructions in the forum for your device. Below I am giving you the link to the General forum. Check out the thread titles to find the things you're looking for, and definitely read the stickies at the top of the forum. Nobody is going to retype everything that's already right there, but there are helpful people who will answer questions if you have them after reading the guides for yourself first. Check 'em out:

If you haven't rooted the device and it has Android on it then you are on the stock ROM right now. So, follow any of the guides written out for your device (link above), which will tell you how to first root the device, then to install something called Clockworkmod Recovery ("CWM" it will be called), and then to make a backup of your stock ROM ("nandroid" it will be called). From that point you can read more about custom ROMs and start to have fun. Read first though, trust me. It's worth the time to make sure you don't brick the thing by doing something you shouldn't have.
Enjoy.
thanks a lot friend i ll try it for sure

I don't know what a root file is, but if you go to that forum all the root guides and links are stickies. Thank you so much. I needed that. Lol. You literally just quoted the answer to your own question. Like, someone asked a question, I answered it (last summer lol), then you quoted my answer to ask the same question. Oh, this made my day. Thank you... lol.
In case that's unclear... my answer to your question is the answer you quoted. Ah, I love it. Cheers, mate. I don't mean this as rude, it's just hysterically awesome. :good:
you can find it on galaxy s2 subforum for custom rom, custom recovery and root tools
if you have installed the custom recovery and root, do a nandroid back up of your current ROM (system, boot, data) in case you want to go back to your old rom

*Yeah right...you cannot insult people and then saying 'no mean to insult'. Just letting you know smartypants... I dont say this to insult you...as you say
Thread given in link was far to complicated and needed TO MUCH search (my opinion). I found the file to another thread. By saying root file I mean the file I need to root my phone. I found a file called SU or smthng like that. Thank you though mate.
