I recently installed a 4.2.1 Rom (currently xylon, but I want to try every of them). Which kernels are compatible?
I used Air Kernel on 4.1.1 and I really loved it, but seems it does not work on 4.2.
thank you
Try marmite it works like a charm on 4.2.1

Marmite is the only one that works? Cause it has only 3 governors (I remember ondemand smartass and performance). I loved other kernels also because of their variety of governors.
Matr1x works as well.

Derkernel should do although I haven't tried it yet.

I've tried a marmite kernel and the color of the display turned red-ish/pink-ish...is there a marmite version that keeps the color like the stock kernel?

Not sure why Marmite turned redish pinkish on you. It has fixed colors. Try Matr1x. It has stock colors unless you wanna change them.

maybe because there are many different versions of the marmite kernel. So i was wondering if there's one with fixed stock colors.
Does Matr1x work well with 4.2.1 ROMs?

Marmite does not have stock colors. I just said to do Matr1x. It has stock unless you use voodoo to change them.
+1 Matr1x.

cyberGR ? and whats best kernel for it ?
Bugless Beast Pixel Edition + Franco Kernel.
As a noob who has tried many combo, this is most stable and fast.
air kernel
I use Brainmaster's CM9 with Matrix 19.0
Its very stable, and pretty smooth.
I've used CyberGR v10, but i prefer Brainmaster's Rom over his. (had a lot of issues with his Rom)
Will try these. You can suggest more combos and links please. Thanks alot

it means that your phone cant handle the 1.44ghz cpu oc and 240mhz(20%) bus/gpu oc. not many phones can. every phone is different. some can oc high, some not so high, and some not at all. unfortunately, even though its the same phone, they can vary widely in performance.
aokp + matr1x
+1 derek.
AOKP build33 with Matr1x
AOKP B32 with air kernel. Runs quite nice. Although battery lasts only about 12h. On b31 with matr1x kernel I reached 15+h on my i9023 but it got unstable due to liveoc.
I like aokp a lot, but I am not sure about which is the best kernel. I think with the next milestone I will do a systematical test series.

I've download a couple of kernels like teuv, matrix, and air kernel. But I keep switching between them because I feel as if none of them are working....can someone suggest good solution?
Sent from my Nexus S
If your phone is like mine, you might want to make sure that the kernel you use is set for default voltages. Matr1x in particular won't run correctly unless I reset the voltages.
Eat at Joe's
Run the stock kernel.

+1 on mathkid's suggestion. You're phone might be a stock-lover.
I attached the stock ICS kernel here, or you can check out the stockish kernels such as (click for download sites/link):
_thalamus
SimpleKernel
Franco's
Hope this helps!
I don't like the stock kernel either.

trinity t132.. cant go wrong with that one http://goo.gl/q3CnT
well, unless your phone cant handle it. its great at 1.32ghz, and its great running at 1ghz.
Thanks for your suggestions!!! I think I'll try the stock kernels and see how it goes

My phone only likes stock/simple, thalamus, and Pete's kernel. Every other one always gives me issues after a few days. Just stick with stock or modified stock, like thalamus as stated in another post.
Have you tried SimpleKernel by terryhau? Its the stock kernel with Voodoo and BLN added. Seems like a great solution for you.

Hi my skyrocket is currently running 4.0.3 ics leaked rom, and I was wondering if i could flash custom kernel on ics rom, or would I have to stock gingerbread to use custom kernel. I just do not want to get bricked etc. Thank you.
It depends on the ROM, if it's SKY ICS or some other modded Samsung rom, then you pretty much have to stick with stock, or do some research because I don't really know what Kernels are available for it. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in...
If it's AOSP based (CM9, AOKP, Chimaira, etc), then the only other option I know of is InstigatorX's kernel, which seems to work quite well. Pick a stable version, since the latest has issues with the camera. The stock kernel for CM9 is also quite good, but the CPU governors added in Instigators are great for saving battery.

You can flash cymbaline. Don't try to flash instigator's cm9 kernal you aren't using an aosp rom. Cymbaline fits your deal nicely. You'll dig it.

I also use this kernel and in conjunction with System Tuner for OC/UV.
I just got this phone, and I'm liking it, is there a better kernel than the stock cm10 one? I plan on listening to music and using core features of the phone. Nothing fancy.
Also, mines a 4g if it makes a difference.

These kernels do not work. I think only marmite has a cm10 version. Cm10 did something stupid that breaks other kernels.

Everyone has their own favorite when it comes to kernels. Ask 5 people and get 5 answers.
MATR1X for stability
AIR for features gov choices (I use AIR cause I like the blue color really gives the LCD a rich deep look)
Marmite good all around people rave about it
Trinity for performance
I'm sure I'm missing some but these are the ones I have flashed
You can't really go wrong just start flashing and see which one fits your usage best.

Trinity didn't Sitwell with cm10, marmite did however. No biggie. Works fine. Although the. "Stock one" had the color tweaks, likened that.

Marmite supports voodoo, which are the color tweaks that cm10 stole. App can be found in play store "voodoo sound" and is for amoled screens.

Only marmite supports cm10 AFAIK, you can't just use any kernel with cm10.
To get cm10 kernel back just wipe cache/dalvik and reflash ROM with gapps,

My apologies, I was in a hurry and did not think the topic was CM10 specific. At the moment other then the CM Kernel I do believe Marmite is the only supported CM kernel and I believe that has stipulations. You can ask the dev bedalus. He is very helpful.
Another question, in the update script is data wiped? Or does it just flash system?

I did a bench mark test using antutu, my nexus s that was currently running paranoid 2.54 and marmite 7.1.3 came up with a very humble score of 3138 , compared to others that was 4000 and higher,, how do they do that? I wish i could optimize my phone like that.
