[Q] Matching RIL for 20.76.30.0835U_3831.19.00.110 - HTC Desire S

Hello, I installed the (hopefully) newest firmware from this thread: [RADIO] [FIRMWARE] ICS firmware and radio from WWE RUU
Afterwards, I installed CM10 by nk111, which is running great, besides problems with the download speed on mobile network. The signal is great, as networkcoverage is as well. But the download, even on H (4G equivalent) is very, very slow.
The radio/baseband combination, which came with the new firmware, is: 20.76.30.0835U_3831.19.00.110
Does somebody know, if there is a matching RIL out there? Or are there different radios, which I could try? Maybe even the "old" GB radios?

I checked RIL on my phone manually, which is: HTC-RIL 4.0.0034HM
You can check it via adb (or terminal emulator) with
Code:
getprop "gsm.version.ril-impl"
Did nobody else mess with these things? Which RIL/baseband combination are you using?

What exactly is the role of the 'baseband'

I am new to all this Android mi'larky - what exactly is the baseband and what is it's role?
Also is it the baseband that gets hacked so you don't need a modified USB cable to upgrade?
TIA.
Baseband is the code that manages all radio connections such as 2G/3G/4G mobile network/data connections. I think Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also managed by baseband.
With android, you dont need a modified usb cable unless you mess up your phone while trying to hack it
Thanks for the clarification exceleth.
No problem dude
just another question about baseband
well
i got this problem with a few ROMs.
the problem is:
the SIM doesnt connect
i cant do calls or go online or something
is it because of the baseband?
do you know what i have to do?
You have to flash the baseband first to get your radio working:

Or flash the V21a Gingerbread kdz, which includes the required baseband along with gingerbread:

[Q] Radio Version

I'm confused as to how to check the radio version. In Hboot my sensation tells me my radio is 10.14.9035.01. However under baseband its 10.15.9035.02_2
Can someone explain I'm seeing two different radios?
I am seeing the exact same thing with the same radio versions.
I checked my RIL and its the one for the older radio. So I may have my radio and RIL mismatched as well (depending on which Radio display I believe).
I found this

[Q] What's the current radio for TMob?

Can someone who hasn't modified the radio tell me which one is the current one from T-Mobile. I tried manually updating the radio to the latest one (10.58), and it's horrible on battery, and want to go back to whatever was last pushed out by T-Mobile.
It's under:
Settings -> About Phone -> Software Info -> More -> Baseband version
Thanks.
I believe it's this one: RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.50.531.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.0
Did you update the matching RIL for 10.58? RIL's found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867
Per this thread, the best radio for TMOUS is 10.56 with the matching RILs from the above links. But every phone is different, best to test and see which works for you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418043

[Q] how to flash new radio ? too many options..

my radio is old and signal is weak in most areas, need to upgrade but there is too many radios and a few tutorials, one option is to flash it with terminal via usb here is the main thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178001
the second option is to flash it as you flash hboot by bootloader. thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312144
Q wich one is the right one ?
Q2 wich radio to use ? (i guess the latest from [RADIO] HTC Desire S Radios [PG88IMG.zip] (Updated: 21 Oct 2011) thread)
im using android 3.5 - HTC sense 3.0 - kernel 2.6.35.10 htc kernel - radio 20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M - Hboot 7.00.1002 | Reengineered 2.00.002
tnx for your help !
There is no such thing as "old radio", and newer radio doesn't mean better signal.
Both of the options lead to exactly the same result and achieve exactly the same thing in exactly the same way, it's just that one is assuming you're knowledgeable enough to put the file on SD card yourself and the other doesn't assume even that.

[Q] flakey data connection after cyanogenmod rom flash

So I finally took the jump and rooted my T-mobile Sensation 4G (including unlocking the bootloader, sim-unlock, S-OFF, root, SuperCID, did I forget anything??). Flashed Cyanogenmod 9.1. Have CWM ROM Manager installed, and Titanium backup.
It works MUCH better than the stock ROM, and I'm very happy with it, EXCEPT, the radio's data connection (very fast when working) stops working for hours at a time. There does not seem to be any trigger for this. The regular non-data connection (phone calls and texts) continues to work. The H by the signal strength indicator will flash on periodically, maybe every few to 10 seconds at best, but you never actually get a connection. (3D and E do not appear at all). The signal strength is full. This happens both at home and out.
I thought it might be the radio, and after looking into that, decided to flash some new firmware. Initially (after the rooting/update), it was reporting firmware (from fastboot getvar version-main) of 1.24.401.1. On the boot screen, it said Juopunutbear (I used that method to get S-off). It was reporting baseband of 11.69A...
So I flashed the 3.33 universal firmware, and used the GetRIL app to update the RIL. It now reported firmware 3.33.401.106 and baseband 11.76A...
But no difference in data connection - not working at all.
So I flashed the 3.32 stock TMO firmware, used GetRIL again to get the right RIL. Now reporting firmware 3.32.531.14 and baseband 11.69A again.
But again, no dice on the data connection.
Wifi connection works fine, so I use that when in range.
Other current info:
bootloader screen:
HBOOT 1.27.1100 (this went down from 1.27.1111 version, which I think the HTC bootloader unlock installed).
Radio 11.23.3504.07_M2
eMMC-boot
firmware version:
3.32.531.14
From the running phone itself:
Android version: 4.0.4
baseband: 11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2
kernel: 3.0.36-g7290c7f
Cyanogenmod version: 9.1.0-pyramid
The one thing I have not tried is to flash a different ROM than the Cyanogen...worth trying (any recommendations?) or another other ideas of what might be going on?
thanks!
