unable to send/recieve via nfc with other phones - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

has anyone tried using nfc to share photos with someone with a phone other than an s3? someone with a galaxy nexus tried to send me a photo, and all I got was some message. it looked like an address string that looked like it was telling me what folder the pic could possibly be there, but it wasn't clickable or anything, i looked in my gallery and there was nothing new. i tried to beam to the galaxy nexus, and it got an address string similar to mine. someone with a lumia 920 (windows) tried to send a photo to me, and i still got that address, but never any photo.
has anyone had success with sending via nfc to other phones outside of the sIII?

I've done it with my SIS's galaxy s and my galaxy sIII but I've been unsuccessful with my friends lg phone.

You've sent pictures and video? I saw somewhere that you can only NFC webpages and contacts the s3 and other phones

[Q] No MMS after rooting

Hi all -
I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727 and I have just rooted last night. This morning, I am unable to receive MMS picture as I usually can from my girlfriend, who is an iphone user. If I send an MMS pictures to myself, it works fine. I read somewhere you have to reset your APN settings, which I've done but it doesn't seem to have changed anything. I've also rebooted a few times. I should tell you that I have backed-up and uninstalled the stock messaging app, since I use Go SMS exclusively. I tried to restore it but was unable to. Could this be the problem or do I need to make more changes to my APN settings?
Thanks in advance
If you search for skyrocket APN's you should get an idea of the settings (PTA is the only one I use)
If you long press the message, does it let you see the attachment/recognize the message as a mms?

na
it just shows the text - no mms. I got one successfully from my brother (who's on an android), so i'm waiting to see if I can get one from the iphone
take a look at GO SMS in the market and what it supports; it may not support MMS. A lot of apps don't process MMS texts just fyi.
So message details only recognizes it as a SMS, but only when sent from an iPhone? Can you have them turn off imessage? I'm going to guess that's part of the issue

Just thought id mention this, my mom, dad and sister all have iphones and tried sending me MMSs yesterday, did not work just continuously say downloading.
however i called my mom and while on the phone she sent me the mms again, i checked it while on the phone and it successfully downloaded.
could it have been a fluke? or is there something that changed while i was on the phone?
I had constant moms problems with family/clients using iPhones with imessage enabled

If you turn off DATA or momentarily don't have data on; MMS will stick at "downloading...."
you have to disable "Auto Retrive" in Messaging settings then attempt to download the MMS again.
hm if android receives android, I bother it is the problem of your phone.
What you should do is a simple delete and install from the market, to start again.
If nothing changes, I should throw you girlfriends iPhone in a lake and take care she will get an SGS2
Any solution?
Hi all,
Has there been any sign of a solution for this issue yet? I just rooted my GS2 LTE and can not seem to send or receive MMS to anyone at all. I do not want to download any other aps to do it for me, I just want to figure this out. I've also read a lot about changing APNs, any ideas on that?
Thanks in advance.
Guys how can you expect any help if you don't include a carrier in your post?
I know that for rogers when I flash a new rom I have about 4-5 APNs in my list. I actually have to remove one labeled MMS from the bottom of the list and leave the one that is marked as LTE. Then after a reboot I can get MMS no problem. BTW GoSMS does do MMS, I used to use it but have since been using the stock SMS/MMS app.

Sorry, it was late at night/ early in the morning. Thought I included he fact that I was with Rogers. I also have a few APNs. I've played around with a few of them and now I seem to sometimes be sending pictures. It's entirely inconsistent and still takes over 5 minutes to send on the rare occasions it decides to.

Thanks for the reply but that seems to work even less for me. Now the MMS won't even pass the "sending" point.

I may have found the solution to my issue. I deleted all APNs and made one Rogers APN to act as all of them. I used the instructions I found on a website which I am apparently too new to link to. So far I have managed to send and receive picture texts to myself 100% of the time within a reasonable timeframe. I will be back if that changes when I message other people. Thank you all again for your help.

Thought I had it working. Sent a picture to someone besides myself today and it took over an hour and a half to arrive...

[Q] Very urgent, please help - lost phone

I have quite a problem. My girlfriend lost her phone in the city and when we call it, it's dirrct voicemail. I wonder if there's a way to trace it? Any help/advice will be appreciated!
Sorry to hear this. It would be like a needle in a haystack. Have you installed an app like ceberus? You can also contact the carrier and see what they give in terms of ideas.

S-note fails to save....any idwas

Hi I have been using s note on my galaxy 10.1 note, at work now for a couple of months with no issues. I was in a work course yesterday, was at 10 pages...2 pages had pics on them, and the s-note would not save...kept coming up "failure to save"....has anyone else experienced this? Is there a limit to the number of pages or could it have been the pics in the notes making the file too big? Any ideas would be appreciated....
Thanks

Same story,
sometimes my note fails to save, and after I close the s-note app, that file gets corrupted, and I can't open it anymore. Usually I get this issue when I go over 40 pages. Very frustrating, but don't know how to fix it, is should be on Samsung.

Gmail doesn't like sending attachments

Does anyone else have issues with Gmail not sending attachments, particularly pictures and videos? I've always had this issue across multiple phones/ROMs/carriers, and it's very frustrating. The only solution I get that works is to reboot my phone. What does that mean?
I've tried over WiFi and mobile internet connection. Both just sit in my outbox until I restart the phone.
Currently on Liquid Smooth 2.8 (official) paired with the latest ktoonz kernel. Latest version of Gmail.
Ideas anyone? Anyone else experience this?

Wow, I'm the only person with this issue?? I thought it would be much more common.
It's very annoying to take adorable videos of my six month old and not be able to send them to anyone reliably.

You're definitely not the only one bud, I've had it happen to me. I gave up on it since I noticed it wasn't working regardless of what I did to Gmail. For me, I realized it would be easier to transfer it to my computer and send rather than to mess around with the Gmail apps limitations. It wasn't pressing enough for me since I don't send files from my phone via email.

is it only attachments that don't send? if they sit in outbox go into your app list and wipe the data and cache for gmail..I usually have to do it after I restore a ROM..I've sent 10mg byte multiple pics with no problems...
sent from a violated Vzw Galaxy s3
The other day I tried to email myself 8 pics and the message sat in my outbox. I tried rebooting and clearing data/cache nothing worked. I finally got them to send by splitting it into 2 emails with 4 pics each. Maybe a size limitation?

[Q] Android Beam Wont Recieve?

Hey everyone,
So I have a Nexus 5 red and just for kicks I wanted to try out the NFC but it does not seem to work correctly and I cannot figure out why.
The phone I was trying to connect with is an S4. I am able to send them pics via NFC but when they try to send me something instead of getting the pic, the google play store opens and then everything just kind of stops.
Anyone know the reason for this?
Thanks
Maybe because the s4 and touchwiz .. I've tried as well bro.. That's my only guess..

I thought that too but I figured if that was the case it would not let me send anything either. I can send but I just can't get anything back. Its also weird that it always opens the play store. Is there some kind of app I am supposed to have for this?
I don't think so... I'm really thinking it's cause touchwiz...

Works fine both ways between my phone and the Note II.
