My TB hasn't croaked yet, so.. - Thunderbolt General

I need the most basic ROM that allows for tethering. I don't care if it's sense or no sense, GB or some other version. I just need battery life and tethering, I'm damn near about to go back to stock and root for tethering. Obviously the usuals like camera, mic, etc.. I would prefer to work.
Anyone using a ROM that's months (if not years) old and completely satisfied? Needing some recommendations.

Skyraider 1.3 or Thundershed 1.6 w/ Zoom kernel. Those are my two favorite. Tethering works great and their fully functional roms. And here's Zoom Kernel v1.1.0 --> http://db.tt/VVXZ2xav Thundershed and Skyraider you can't get over at Rootz forum.

Shiftao5p 2.8 is an older rom but everything works and tethering is spotless. http://db.tt/eYew3oWI
Also I use the zoom kernel and get very good battery life. I personally didn't care for tshed but skyraider is another spot on rom about the best sense rom ever created and I say that w/o question.

Me, too.

Skyraider 1.3, I think I used that one and liked it.. everything works I take it? Will check it out, thanks guys.

ran thundershed with Imo's lean kernal for the longest time and loved it.

Has it actually been that long since I've flashed this phone.. I lost flash, so Skyfire isn't streaming vids, titanium apparently didn't back it up and I can't find it in the playstore. Am I behind?

Adobe has discontinued the Flash Player for Android due to HTML5 being the standard. Your best bet is to search for the apk. I believe the lastest was Flash Player 11 but 10.3 will do as well.

I never lost the player with the 11 update. Although there was a conflicting setting with the Dolphin Browser that made 11 not work but a simple edit in the config files made it work again. But 10.2 was most definitely widely used.

Netflix through hdmi?

Is there a way to make this work? I've switched to mikfroyo so that the ROM is a 2.2, and i also tried the HDMwIn app from the market...I can get videos from the SD card and YouTube to work, but netflix won't work properly...sometimes the sound will come out, but no picture...
Does anybody know a fix to this? I searched netflix hdmi, but it only pulled up some other ROM threads...

This is my wifes phone and she's not an aosp kinda gal, plus I think I tried cm7 on her phone a couple months back and something went wrong somewhere, can't really remember now...
Do you or anyone else have any other ideas? Could someone maybe send me their netflix.apk that is known to work with hdmi, maybe that could be the issue? Or maybe tell me how to fix whatever may be occuring, as long as I can do it over the phone, cuz my computer is a paperweight at the moment cuz of a cracked screen...

I am a noobie to things here, but i have been rooted for some time now and I do alot of reading to learn things from xda. I was also having this problem with both my wife and my EVO. Both are rooted and are running r3charged final. They both use golden monkey kernels. And the problem is in the kernel. So I did a lot of reading up on this, as i always do and found that chopsuye v.9.1.7 will allow you to use hdmi. I have tested it myself and its works the best. Hope this helped.

Could be a number of things really. My wife runs Synergy(Myn's) on 2.3 with the HDMwIn app and the recommended kernel and its perfect. When you first open the HDMwIn app it tells you to download some daemon add on, did you? When i tried without that it didnt work. Also, it recommends a custom kernel in the app t0o and even has a link. Thats the one i use and it works perfect. Keep in mind though that this is all on Android 2.3, maybe you should update.........
I actually had her on a 2.3 ROM and I downloaded the daemon and it did not work, but I didn't do the kernel because I noticed that the HDMwIn app said that it probly won't work on a 2.3, so that's why I switched to a 2.2, but i haven't done the kernel yet, that will be my next move, its just taking me a lil bit as her phone is not my priority...

I would suggest FEARMEde if you don't want the Bliss look. Hybrid is being updated tomorrow, FEARMEde has already been updated.
MikG is a close second.
Word of advice: mount "Data" in "Mounts" section of Amon Ra before flashing the kernel. Newer Sense ports are delicate with that for some reason. I always do it now.
Edit: Hybrid and FEARMEde are both updated now. And they are awesome.

Which rom?

What is the best froyo rom? No force close problems.. Can stream video with no issues from netflix.. Crackle.. Streaming live tv.. Pandora.. Thanks

VEGAn 5.1.1 is for bootloader version 1.1. From what I've read version 1.2 of the bootloader doesn't give you anything more than making it easier to update over the air to the most recent TapNTap ROM. With that said, most of the newer custom ROMs are for version 1.2 of the bootloader but then again most of the newer ROMs are not FroYo either.
Try FrankenTAB EC 1.0, it is Froyo based and works real well. BTW it is BL 1.2 based.
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/23486-rommod-12-frankentab-v100-rc1-g-tabletzpad-t2/
I'll second FrankenTAB
I had been using Beasty up until a couple of weeks ago after trying FrankenTAB and thats what I've been using since.
My understanding is Pixlerider basically used Brilliant Corners as a base and modified it using bits and pieces of other Froyo roms, kernels...etc, thus how he came up with the name =P
The end result is a solid rom that's also visually pleasing and although I have run across a few minor issues (some apps not showing up on market, audio sometimes going mute when plugging headphones) they were easy to work around.
I just got one of these for the wife for christmas. With the Frankentab, does the camera still work(skype).
Basically I'm looking for one that has these abilities in this order
Android Market
Camera works
Stability
last is speed, but from what I've read anything will speed this up from stock. any help would be appreciated.
Frankentab is great and everything works.. I ended up with the beasty combo as it just seems to be the fastest and everything seems to work

Suggestion for Sense-Based rom to stream the Super Bowl?

I'm writing this post - and asking this question - merely because I've had an AOSP Rom on my phone for quite some time, and despite reading several threads on Sense-Based ROMS, I'm overwhelmed. So, I'm asking for a bit of help.
I'm stuck working on Super Bowl Sunday, and I'd like to be able to stream the game to my phone (or my Tablet). I'm looking for suggestions about which ROM(s) I should try/use to stream the game. As I understand it, I will need a Sense ROM and the NFL Mobile app, but I don't know of any that are configured correctly out-of-the-box to stream the game.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated by myself and my co-workers.
Most of the roms especially sense ones will work right out of the box with it. i know some have had issues but alot have been fixed.
You could simply do a nand backup of your current rom and then flash a couple to see what you like and try the NFL mobile app to see if it works well
Gingeritis 3d works really well.

Which ROM should I use with my TB?

So I've been out of the whole ROM scene for a while now, I have CM7 on my TB still and it sucks pretty hard, and I'm looking to install a new rom. I mostly tether, text, and sometimes talk on the phone. I'm not that big on apps except like sports center, twitter, and facebook...usuallly don't play games. Any suggestions on where to start?
There isn't much to complain about in regards to CM7, as we don't have a whole lot of new development. Slayher's CM7 build is still my favorite T-Bolt rom in terms of speed and stability. I run a 1.6ghz OC and it's pretty snappy. Thundershed is a very popular ROM right now and is based off of the CM7.2 codebase with an ICS theme, so I would certainly check it out if you are looking for something that feels different. You'll probably want to look into various roms on your own as it's honestly opinionated with a few exceptions.
Team Liquid is also working on an ICS rom that has working Phone and SMS, but data isn't working yet(they are coding the RIL from scratch). I would keep my eye on it as the rom will probably become ready for daily use in the near future. As soon as data works, I'll probably switch over from CM7 unless there are other issues that arise with the rom.
I used to suggest to users any rom by ThunderStick, but he was a complete dbag recently on his rom thread when questioned on one of the issues the rom had. I guess because he moved to a nexus he stopped caring about the TB. I would check out the rom list (thunderbolt development forum) and go through each one. BAMF has always been high on peoples list.

Come on, you asked a question that any amount of thought or common sense should have answered for you, thunderstick and others gave you appropriate responses. Back on topic though, skyraider is great. Thundershed, jellyblur, and sfkcm7 are awesome AOSP roms and worth a look too. There's also a bunch of solid desensed roms out there. It's best to flash some roms and get to know your own tastes that way. After all, only you know what your ideal rom is.

If you're looking for something different, Vicious and SPJester's MIUI rom works very nicely. It's easy to customize using the built in MIUI system. Everything but MMS works I believe, but the way the rom is set up is a bit strange (as there is no app drawer, sort of like IOS). Still, very solid and, having tried pretty much every tbolt rom out there, this is the one I always come back to.
Using JellyBlur v1.3 and having 0 problems so far. Been running it for awhile now without any problems and love it. Thinking about putting it on my husband's Thunderbolt as Skyraider Zues is giving him some problems.
Agreed Jellyblur 1.3 CM7.2 Rocks!

I'm with you, personally Jellyblur 1.3 has been the best running, slickest rom I've used. I've tried Bamf, and quite a few other roms out there. This for me is going to be my daily. I'm hoping we can get ICS (but not counting on it, and the only reason I want it is so the devs can grab the RIL and do something awesome with it).

Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester
I recently went through most of the recommended ROMs (after unrooting to get the OTA radio update, doing a clean wipe, then re-rooting) and I have landed on Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester which seems to be the slickest and best-running I've seen so far. Battery life is good, audio, SMS/MMS, data, and phone work. It is thankfully De-Sensed and instead uses the Go Launcher.

What do you run on YOUR Sgs4g? And why?

First off I have the Canadian T959W....I have tried most ICS roms & have gone with RemICS-UX...(hooked on TWRP) FB's new kg4 padded modem, as well as the proton ICS kernel(to control those annoying capacitive lights).
Though my model has the basic hardware of the V there are issues with some roms.
Looking forward to running cm10 or Slim bean as a daily driver when hotspot fixed

I run Pandora,TV portal,boat browser,YouTube,Facebook,and about 20 more apps on my phone.....why?...becuz i use them on a regular basis.
I run several news apps, a sports app, xda app , TuneIn radio, YouTube, Voodoo sound, Video Trimmer, MX Video player, IMDB, Whatsapp, iGAG, Dropbox, Airdroid, TubeMate, eBay, You are your own gym, Titanium backup, fast charge, histrory eraser, Swiss army knife, Pocket (paswords container), unit converter, Documents to Go, Barcode reader, CamScanner, PicPaint, How to iron, Waze, Oruxmap, Modern Combat 2, NOVA 2, 9MM, BlockBreaker, NBA JAM, Football kick, Temple Run, Racing Moto, Skater boy, Taki lite, Copycat, Cut the rope, Draw free, Song Pop, several trivia apps, Several buying apps, several health apps, Touchdown for android (Exchange mail), exDialer, Skype, Facebook.
