Which rom? - G Tablet General

What is the best froyo rom? No force close problems.. Can stream video with no issues from netflix.. Crackle.. Streaming live tv.. Pandora.. Thanks
Sent from my VM670 using Tapatalk

Calk+Clem is one of the more popular froyo roms. Should meet all your requirements.

VEGAn 5.1.1 is in my opinion the best. It boots up crazy fast and it's very stable. I've used it for about eight months and watched plenty of videos on it.

VEGAn 5.1.1 is for bootloader version 1.1. From what I've read version 1.2 of the bootloader doesn't give you anything more than making it easier to update over the air to the most recent TapNTap ROM. With that said, most of the newer custom ROMs are for version 1.2 of the bootloader but then again most of the newer ROMs are not FroYo either.

Try FrankenTAB EC 1.0, it is Froyo based and works real well. BTW it is BL 1.2 based.
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/23486-rommod-12-frankentab-v100-rc1-g-tabletzpad-t2/

I'll second FrankenTAB
I had been using Beasty up until a couple of weeks ago after trying FrankenTAB and thats what I've been using since.
My understanding is Pixlerider basically used Brilliant Corners as a base and modified it using bits and pieces of other Froyo roms, kernels...etc, thus how he came up with the name =P
The end result is a solid rom that's also visually pleasing and although I have run across a few minor issues (some apps not showing up on market, audio sometimes going mute when plugging headphones) they were easy to work around.

I just got one of these for the wife for christmas. With the Frankentab, does the camera still work(skype).
Basically I'm looking for one that has these abilities in this order
Android Market
Camera works
Stability
last is speed, but from what I've read anything will speed this up from stock. any help would be appreciated.

Frankentab is great and everything works.. I ended up with the beasty combo as it just seems to be the fastest and everything seems to work

Why flash roms?

So I was just wondering why would we flash roms? I mean the current stock os is almost bug free + when flashing roms we are faced with some major bugs sometimes.
I know that we would have the choice to remove bloatware, cutomise status bar, and sometime oc. That's all nice but still I don't see why not leave it as is?
Please excuse my ignorance. I just came from a rooted Dinc w/ miui
And I wanna have a better understanding.
Thanks

For me it's the freedom to do with my phone what I want. These developers kick out some sweet features that we'll never see from a stock ROM, and they get us the latest software before the manufacturers. I bug here or there is well worth it for me, and if it's to bad you can always revert. If you prefer the stock experience, than by all means leave it alone. But me, I'm a tinkerer. Be it a car, truck, bike... or yes, even a phone, I can't leave well enough alone.
Because we can
To pick up chicks......I haven't met one yet that's not turned on by 48+ mflops!
Can't do that with stock.....
This might seem like an odd answer... I flash so I can have a standard interface on my phones. I've had a droid, droid x, and thunderbolt in the last year and a half (my company does some android development on in house apps for one of our clients, and we go through a lot of test phones). having something close to a stock interface minimizes the daily annoyances of moving between those phones.... which is why I use the aosp roms.

Suggestion for Sense-Based rom to stream the Super Bowl?

I'm writing this post - and asking this question - merely because I've had an AOSP Rom on my phone for quite some time, and despite reading several threads on Sense-Based ROMS, I'm overwhelmed. So, I'm asking for a bit of help.
I'm stuck working on Super Bowl Sunday, and I'd like to be able to stream the game to my phone (or my Tablet). I'm looking for suggestions about which ROM(s) I should try/use to stream the game. As I understand it, I will need a Sense ROM and the NFL Mobile app, but I don't know of any that are configured correctly out-of-the-box to stream the game.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated by myself and my co-workers.
Most of the roms especially sense ones will work right out of the box with it. i know some have had issues but alot have been fixed.
You could simply do a nand backup of your current rom and then flash a couple to see what you like and try the NFL mobile app to see if it works well

[Q] 4.0+ Sucks on my G2

Ok I'm going to try to provide as much information as possible in order to help me troubleshoot this issue. My computer is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I've got a tmobile htc G2. I bought it used off of a friend and it was previously rooted and IIRC it had 2.3.7 gingerbread on it? not 100% sure. Since then I've updated the Clockwork to 5.0 from 3.0 and I updated the rom to an ICS 4.0.3. I tried virtuous at first and I believe now I'm using virtuous quattro RC3. I don't know If I'm still in an early version or what but I hate it. My apps (mocospace) crash constantly, even from switching from portrait to landscape, even the browser version of mocospace. I even tried downloading opera and dolphin and the same thing happens. Also with youtube, when I watch videos, they are not videos, they are more of a slideshow, I've downloaded adobe air and adobe flash but the videos are still in frames. I'm looking for one of two things, A Stable ICS that will work on my G2, or to go back to a previous version of android that will work fine like it used to. this version on this phone is driving me nuts, I constantly have to power off/on my phone to reset a Blank homescreen issue, or the icons will be blurred. thanks in Advance! - Andy

If it sucks so bad flash something else. Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=758 and look for something that suits your fancy. *****ing in a general discussion section without using the search options will not get you any help. I stumbled upon this post on accident and thought "Eh, why the hell not". Qualcomm chipsets like those in the Vision and Glacier and most HTC phones don't have stable ICS yet due to driver issues. READ READ READ READ then READ some more then flash. Otherwise you'll be this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwleOote5M0&list=FLiSUReotYhEITuOWRb6Hb8w&index=11&feature=plpp_video
I was actually reading up on some different roms while I was at work tonight and figured I would try out both the Andromedus, and the CyanogenMods. I Do appreciate your help though, and [email protected] the video. When I bought this phone off of a friend it was already rooted and had 2.3.7 on it I believe, I just wanted to try out android 4.0. I'm guessing though like you say its still too early to find something awesome. I don't even mind this one so much except that it seems like itcant handle any graphical apps or procedures. once again thank you

Which ROM should I use with my TB?

So I've been out of the whole ROM scene for a while now, I have CM7 on my TB still and it sucks pretty hard, and I'm looking to install a new rom. I mostly tether, text, and sometimes talk on the phone. I'm not that big on apps except like sports center, twitter, and facebook...usuallly don't play games. Any suggestions on where to start?
There isn't much to complain about in regards to CM7, as we don't have a whole lot of new development. Slayher's CM7 build is still my favorite T-Bolt rom in terms of speed and stability. I run a 1.6ghz OC and it's pretty snappy. Thundershed is a very popular ROM right now and is based off of the CM7.2 codebase with an ICS theme, so I would certainly check it out if you are looking for something that feels different. You'll probably want to look into various roms on your own as it's honestly opinionated with a few exceptions.
Team Liquid is also working on an ICS rom that has working Phone and SMS, but data isn't working yet(they are coding the RIL from scratch). I would keep my eye on it as the rom will probably become ready for daily use in the near future. As soon as data works, I'll probably switch over from CM7 unless there are other issues that arise with the rom.
I used to suggest to users any rom by ThunderStick, but he was a complete dbag recently on his rom thread when questioned on one of the issues the rom had. I guess because he moved to a nexus he stopped caring about the TB. I would check out the rom list (thunderbolt development forum) and go through each one. BAMF has always been high on peoples list.

Come on, you asked a question that any amount of thought or common sense should have answered for you, thunderstick and others gave you appropriate responses. Back on topic though, skyraider is great. Thundershed, jellyblur, and sfkcm7 are awesome AOSP roms and worth a look too. There's also a bunch of solid desensed roms out there. It's best to flash some roms and get to know your own tastes that way. After all, only you know what your ideal rom is.

If you're looking for something different, Vicious and SPJester's MIUI rom works very nicely. It's easy to customize using the built in MIUI system. Everything but MMS works I believe, but the way the rom is set up is a bit strange (as there is no app drawer, sort of like IOS). Still, very solid and, having tried pretty much every tbolt rom out there, this is the one I always come back to.
Using JellyBlur v1.3 and having 0 problems so far. Been running it for awhile now without any problems and love it. Thinking about putting it on my husband's Thunderbolt as Skyraider Zues is giving him some problems.
Agreed Jellyblur 1.3 CM7.2 Rocks!

I'm with you, personally Jellyblur 1.3 has been the best running, slickest rom I've used. I've tried Bamf, and quite a few other roms out there. This for me is going to be my daily. I'm hoping we can get ICS (but not counting on it, and the only reason I want it is so the devs can grab the RIL and do something awesome with it).

Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester
I recently went through most of the recommended ROMs (after unrooting to get the OTA radio update, doing a clean wipe, then re-rooting) and I have landed on Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester which seems to be the slickest and best-running I've seen so far. Battery life is good, audio, SMS/MMS, data, and phone work. It is thankfully De-Sensed and instead uses the Go Launcher.

Keep switching back to more stable touchwiz roms from CM!

Is anyone else having this problem? As much as I love CM10.1 and etc., I keep finding myself going back to say CleanRom. Does anyone have perfect stability on a 10.1 rom? I lose data, then get that fixed. Then I lose GPS. Just a hassle!

I've been on aosp pretty much from day 1 and don't ever see myself going back. Sure some of the betas and alphas had issues, but I've been on aokp milestone 1 and have 0 issues!! Everything works, and I get over 4 hours of screen time per charge.
Not too mention the unbelievable amount of tweaks that an aosp ROM allows you!!
The only thing I miss is the TW camera, not that the aosp is bad.

There is a milestone for cm10. The 4.2 ROMs are still in beta mode. I have been running cm10 m1 for weeks and everything works perfectly. Like I said 4+ hours of screen time plus all the customizations make it too hard to go back to anything TW based.

Not trying to be a jerk but when people say everything works perfectly and I go into said ROMs thread only to find bugs it annoys me. Not trying to be a jerk, but you said it yourself "possible issues" it doesn't mean that everyone will have issues. We all know that ROMs behave differently on different phones. I may be lucky but I haven't experienced much of the problems people claim in CM10.1. I doubt I'll ever look back at TouchWiz-based roms.
Personally, I've never used CM on any of my devices, I've always used others. For instance, I ran stock unrooted Touchwiz on my S3 for a couple months, then I switched to Liquidsmooth, I had that as my daily driver for at least 6 weeks, but the FC's and data dropouts were too much to bear so I went looking for another ROM, I installed Mean Lean Jellybean Machine Build 4 and loved it, so once Build 5 came out I switched to that, and have been on it ever since! I think I'll be staying on this ROM for awhile.

TouchWiz is actually an awesome oem skin for Android. It gets unfairly attacked because people think AOSP/CM must be better.
My personal experience: after rooting never used cm10.1 went straight to finding a good rom. Used executioner 2.5 liked the feel, speed, and battery life. Felt very stable. Tried cleanrom but started experiencing some bugs, switched quickly. Currently im running superchargedwiz rom kyjelly and it seems very stable i closely compare it to executioner 2.5 although im not getting the same battery life as i was getting on executioner but supercharged is very smooth. If i can figure out ktweakers kernal that came with supercharged, i know its possible to tweak it just right to get the right battery settings. My suggestion if your looking for a good rom to play with try one of these 2.
