1) with this hboot you cannot be S-OFF (except with XTC Clip)
2) use the ICS RUU it should bring your phone back (but not as PG88IMG - just run the exe on your PC with a phone connected and in FASBOOT USB mode)
If the ICS RUU cannot restore your system you most probably have a faulty eMMC

What you mean exactly? I dont understood what I to do now?

Can anyone help me? Please :crying:
This is a message from author of apk FONT INSTALER >>> Hey Lazar,
I sincerely apologize that your device is currently “soft bricked”. It’s never fun to have your device temporarily not working and I hope I can help you as best as possible.
When someone roots their device there is always a possibility of things going wrong. 99.9% of the time the device is easy to get back up and running. It does take some research to figure out exactly what needs to be done.
For this reason, our apps all include warnings of creating a nandroid backup before messing with the customization options.
When modifying system files a factory reset will not fix the device. This is because the factory reset wipes your data partition but your system is left untouched.
The easiest way to fix your device is to restore a “nandroid” backup in recovery. When a user roots his/her device a custom recovery, like clockworkmod recovery, is usually installed. In recovery you can create backups and restore your whole device to a previous state. If you created a nandroid backup and have a custom recovery please try to restore that backup in recovery. This will restore your system to a previous state and your device should be working again.
If you don’t have a nandroid backup but you do have a custom recovery you can install a ROM. There are many ROMs that can be found on xda-developers.com and rootzwiki.com. Installing a ROM in recovery will overwrite your system files and your device should then be working again.
If you don’t have a custom recovery installed then we are limited to our last option. Many manufacturers provide ways to restore the entire device. For devices made by Motorola this process involves using a “SBF” or “FXZ” and “RSD Lite”. Samsung uses “ODIN” and other devices may “fastboot flash” their device. I cannot provide great assistance here and your best option is to sign up on an Android forum and ask users who have your same device for help. I simply don’t know every process for every device and wish I could be more helpful. xda-developers.com and rootzwiki.com have many help forums and users willing to provide assistance. Also, usually if you just google “unbrick <your device>” then you can find a guide on how to fix your device.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and hope that the info I provided helps you out.

Can someone send me nandroid backup (ICS official wit htc sense) to try soft unbrick my desire s.

No!! What use would it be. Simply flash the ROM correctly. Read in the Stickies and Index thread, everything you need is in there.

rom/root problem

Hi. Today I got my Desire S.
I rooted it using a tool called unlock root: http://www.unlockroot.com/
then I installed rom manager, and installed clockworkmod recovery.
Next I booted into recovery and wiped everything, but now no matter what rom im trying to install, it will just show the HTC boot screen when starting the phone, and nothing more happens.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to solve the problem?
'UnlockRoot'? Have a look at this website and you might consider better ways of rooting your phone, such as following the recommended procedures listed in many places on XDA
http://lifehacker.com/5873745/unlock-root-roots-nearly-250-android-devices-in-one-click
Also, how is this a 'Development' question? This should be in the 'General' or 'Q&A' forum can a mod please move it?
yeah I found out, I tried using htc's way of rooting it http://www.htcdev.com
but that's not possible now, because the bootloader have changed because of that unlock tool, and now htc dev won't accept it when trying to root it.
I guess i just broke my phone , and i can't unroot it, because that unlocktool require that i got usb debugging enabled, witch i can't in clockworkmod :S.
sorry for posting in the wrong section, please move it.
maybe it would be possible if I had a clockworkmod backup for desire S. If this works, I would be extremly glad, if someone could take a backup with clockworkmod, and upload it
...Is your phone S-OFF ?
Maybe it is a stupid question, but I doubt you can successfully install a custom ROM with a S-ON phone
I guess your phone is still S-ON so you need to flash the boot.img from any rom.zip you want to use manually through fastboot.

If you ''unlock'' your bootloader
when you flash rom.zip from recovery, the boot.img won't be flash in.
you have you take out the boot.img from your rom,and then flash it from fastboot.
when you enter the fastboot
type the following in adb
fastboot flash boot boot.img
now you can boot your phone hope you success

[Q] Help, boot loop here?

I wanted to flash to ARHD 6.3
This is my first time.. I managed to S off.. But then the bootloop began after I flashed PG58IMG.zip via fastboot.
Step 1. To S-OFF your Sensation - (You do not need to do this if you have S-off already or done this before) - WORKING NOW for TMOUS users
Visit
download the application for your operating System. AND EXTRACT IT TO A FOLDER
YOU MAY NEED TO DISABLE YOUR ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM- Norton is flagging up Revolutionary as a Virus when it isn't
IMPORTANT
Fill out the form under the download links with your OS, Device, Hboot Version and Serial number. This will give your beta key to enable you to S - OFF. Make a note of this.
How To get your Hboot Version - 3 methods below
1. [/url] and if it has found your device it should read
"Found your Device: HTC Sensation Z710* Applications -> Development)
4. With the phone switched on (not in HBOOT, just the regular home screen), plug in your USB cable and select HTC sync mode.(IGNORE any warning messages on your phone telling you it cannot find HTC Sync )
5. Launch revolutionary.exe. It should detect the phone and ask for your beta key. Type it (BE CAREFUL, as its case sensitive) or copy and paste it in.
If Revolutionary fails to find your phone verify you have all the drivers installed, try disk drive mode or charging mode (Linux users can use disk drive mode. Confirmed to be working by others)
6. Once you have entered your beta key correctly, follow any on screen prompts or actions from revolutionary and wait for it to S-Off,
7. You're done. Your Device will Successfully have S-OFF....if it hangs on method 3 and doesn't S-Off. See post 2 below for solutions.
IF REVOLUTIONARY SAYS FAILED YOUR PHONE IS NOT SUPPORTED. Go back and check hboot using the methods above. some users are told its failed and they still have S off now. If you have S-off your hboot will now be 1.17.1011 and revolutionary will tell you now your device is not supported
8. Revolutionary will now ask you to Install clockwork recovery mod after S OFF. Type N and install it manually below (the recovery provided is v4.0.1.4 doesn't charge when device is switched off, the one below v5.0.0.1 does charge)
9. Your Device now is S-off.
To install clockwork recovery for the sensation. Follow step 2!
STEP 2. To INSTALL Recovery - v5.0.0.8
1. Download recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation HERE: or Multiupload
2. Copy the PG58IMG file into the Root folder of your SD card (The main Folder of your Memory Card)
3. Turn off your phone FUlly and reboot into the Bootloader/HBOOT screen (see post above on how to get to hboot screen)
4. Press Volume up to Accept when it asks" Do you want to start the update"
5. Press Power Off to Reboot back to android after installation is successful (normal screen with homescreen)

good question..
immediately after s off, i boot into my ROM and tried to install busybox and other apps that requires superuser or root but failed and stating that my device was still not rooted..
so i proceed to install a recovery (in this case its ext4 recovery) but failed to find a .zip installer (but managed to find the .apk and .img version but afraid to proceed considering the extension wasn't the same as per guide's PG5...ZIP). so i tried to simply install cwm as per stated in the guide. coz i know after recovery is installed, only then i would be able to install the su zip files.
then it boot looped.. n here we are trying to shoot all of these troubles.. XD
and if my understanding was wrong, pls correct me. thanks!
only after you sent me the links i managed to install ext4 recovery via a much easier method using cmd.exe..
n that also means that i wasn't even able to follow through the supercid part of the guide..

wait a moment, i dont know if things are making more sense to me but, is it possible that this was caused by a wrong firmware? i just figured out my cid and its htc_044 and there are 4 different version of firmware for this cid, so should i try each of it until my phone boots to my original ROM?
Update: Oh God, I'm in such a relief! Thank God it works now. I flashed the firmware 1.17 n now am able to boot back into my ROM. Now i'm gonna get things backed up n will proceed. phew thanks so much for helping me out. The cause was maybe the zip files werent compatible with mine. So i check my cid n mid, n downloaded what might be the original one. so now its fixed..

Sensation 4G Boot Problems

I was attempting to root my phone and I believe my system files are now deleted or corrupted (This is my best guess from what I have read online) as my phone will not get past the boot screen which is the white background with the "htc" logo. I am able to hit the down volume button with the power button to see the screen where you see the following:
-Revoluntionary-
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.17.1111
I have the PG58IMG.zip file on my SD Card and when in the above screen, it gives me the prompt "Do you want to start update?". I hit yes, it shows a successful update but when you reboot, it still refuses to boot the phone past the "htc" logo screen. I must admit that I did not do enough research before attempting this "Root" and I'm having difficultly understanding what to do next. If possible, I would like to get the phone back to factory setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

#1 - do you have a custom recovery installed?
#2 - remove the PG58IMG.zip file from your SD card or you will never be able to get past the bootloader.
#3 - if you REALLY want to go back to factory, you will need to install an official HTC RUU.
Thanks for the response JWhipple. Here are your answers:
1: Custom Recovery is installed, I've tried 2 different ones, still refuses to boot.
2: I have removed the zip file from the SD Card, still refuses to boot.
3: I haven't tried the HTC RUU yet because I still can't get the phone to boot.
If you boot the phone into bootloader mode you should be able to run the RUU. Someone please correct me if I am wrong!

Do a full wipe from recovery.....including the /system and /boot. Then reflash your ROM. Also, ensure your using the correct firmware for the ROM your using.

I have a similar problem, except that my update failed!! Can I just delete the firmware file and the phone will get back to normal????
The easiest way to solve your issue, providing you DO have a custom recovery e.g. 4EXT or Clockwork, would be to go to the Sensation Android Development sub-forum, find an appropriate ROM, and then flash it through recovery. There are many tutorials online explaining this. Alternatively you could search for "Sensation 4g RUU" which is basically the official program for PC which restores the stock firmware of the device. You do need to get the correct one for the 4G Sensation or you could experience some issues.

Hey tragik74, when you say "run RUU", how exactly do you run it? The only method I see for running anything is to make a PG58IMG.zip file and install that on a SD Card. Which I'm a having an issue with since now my phone shows locked but still has S-OFF.

[Q] Kernel and rom problem

Hi there,
Sorry for my bad english. I've looked for a answer but I don't understand all of solution :/
I'm on a mac and I have a Sensation Xe (Europe) S-On.
When I've change MIUI to Cyanogenmod. My mobil phone change the rom and bug with the kernel O_O ?
Now I got the bad Kernel for the room :S and the phone doesn't boot (stop at bootscreen).
I got the same problem if I try to install a new room by the boot loader.
At this time I want to back on the factory room and Kernel for my facility.
But the .exe of RUU doesn't work on mac (of course). And when I try on a windows; I connect the phone to the computer with boot tools but it's not work.
Sorry, I think it's not the first time someone ask this question but too much result to find the good way to do that

You need HTC driver for the phone to work on windows.
Anyway, the problem is that since you're S-On, you need to flash the kernel manually. You place it in the same directory as adb and fastboot (I don't know if you have it on mac, I guess that yes, or else use windows), and when booted to fastboot (on the bootloader), type the following command:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Where boot.img is the name of the kernel of the ROM (it's inside the .zip of the ROM).
Alternatively, if you have 4EXT recovery (and if you don't, I suggest you get it), enable smartflash, and then you will be able to flash ROMs regularily.
Good luck.

Hi,
It's not possible to use 4ext, because the phone doesn't boot. he's stop at the boot loader.
I've try with adb for mac but I think I don't do the good command to flash by adb the kernel
ADB does not work, you have to use fastboot! Just follow the instructions by astar26. Connect your phone to your PC/mac and type "fastboot reboot-bootloader" and then "fastboot flash boot boot.img"

Alternatively, if you have 4EXT recovery (and if you don't, I suggest you get it), enable smartflash, and then you will be able to flash ROMs regularily.
Good luck.

Hi, I'm trying to flash a Cyanogenmod ROM for a friend on his HTC Sensation Z710e (rooted, bootloader unlocked) - my own phone is an Xperia Ray so I'm not too familiar with the process. Do I need to flash the Kernel before I flash the ROM? What's the best way to do it? If it's a matter of following the process you outlined above then I'm afraid I can't really follow it - I really need an idiot-proof 'how-to' guide I'm afraid, like I said, I'm a total noob when it comes to the HTC Sensation.
Hope you can help.

astar26 explained how it works. If the sensation of your friend has 4ext recovery use smartflash, if twrp use htc dumlock then you don't need to flash the kernel seperately.

Hi there,
Sorry for my bad english.

To flash a ROM on the Sensation:
Go to recovery
(Wipe. Then) flash the .zip of the ROM
That's it. There is, however, a catch for S-ON devices. HTC hasn't allowed flashing of /boot from recovery. This means that, for S-ON devices, the kernel cannot be flashed.
The best way around this is to use 4ext recovery. It has a option called Smartflash. That will flash your kernel even if you're S-ON.
(Some roms, like ViperS 3.1.x require an additional kernel flasher as SmartFlash doesn't work there).
The other way is to manually flash the boot image (kernel). Go to fastboot USB (this is NOT ADB), and execute:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
The boot.img is your new boot image.
Thanks for the reply!
We've already tried flashing the ROM as normal [using ROM Manager] but it doesn't work.
1. How do I know the device is 'S-on?' or not? Can it be changed? What's 'S-on' anyway?
2. Do you have a link handy for that recovery system you mentioned that allows flashing of kernels?
3. I haven't a clue how to manually flash the boot image - with my Xperia Ray I just use the Sony flash tool and fastboot. Can you give me an idiot's guide to doing this?

Ah, I see:
Power off and pull out the battery. Press Power + Vol down. Once the bootloader screen comes up it'll either say S-ON or S-OFF.
For flashing ROMs S-ON use this (also includes 4ext recovery). Read about S-ON here.
Just use smartflash (see link in 1). For the special cases I mentioned in previous post (no smartflash), just see the ROM's thread for S-ON flashing.
Note that if you want just want to flash ROMs the above method is good. For S-OFF, either use this, in case you followed above steps, or use this, in case you want to S-OFF first. S-OFF is not needed for flashing ROMs.
htc sensation z710e wifi problem
Hello friends!
Two months I have a problem with my HTC SENSATION! The problem is due to wifi,I read many forums about this problem, I tried many solutions, but without success! I assumed that the problem is due to "wifi country code". I tried this solution "WiFix Manager", but did not help.
I tried this option http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469428,
because my phone is unlocked with HTCdev, back to factory rom 2.3.3 hboot 1.17.11 to be able to achieve S-OFF method revolutionary s-off.
I did everything, but after a while the problem still occurs. The only way to fix it is by re-install the Rom again. Most often breaks when I restart phone while is connected to the wifi network, when my phone starts, this wifi error appears.I can not write scripts or fix them, so I can not do this option: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368501 . My phone is from England, Orange UK is the operator of which is purchased,I do not know if there is any difference!? And now my phone is rooted, revolutionary s-off, got super CID, 4ext recovery....
What else do I need to have no more this wifi problem?
I'm not very good at Development or haking, so if someone can explain to me what to do to solve my problem, I would appreciate it!
I just want to install "Revelation 1.0.3" and only use it! I am from Bulgaria by the way.

I think I finally found the solution to the wifi problem!
The solution is in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23554125&postcount=1804
Now I use Android Revolution HD 7.3,sometimes the problem occurs again, but now I have a solution!
Just repeat the procedure described in the post and wifi working again.
When you delete a file "wpa_supplicant.conf", I have to re-enter all the router's password which I linked, but this is not such a big problem!

[Q] What is the biggest mess I can make with my phone? And how to prevent it.

Hey Everyone
I have an HTC Sensation, HBOOT 1.27.0000 with 3.32 ICS Firmware, sim unlocked. I have decided to upgrade it to Kitkat, I'm noobe, So I'm just searching to gather information by now. I think I must install CyanogenMod 11.
I think the progress should be:
Unlock bootloader (using fastboot)
Get root access
S-OFF (Using Juopunutbear S-OFF for HBOOT 1.27.0000)
Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache (I don't have enough information about this step, that what will happen after this step)
Flashing Rom (Which will be CyanogenMod 11)
Flashing GAPPS (which will be an extra step, but I will do it)
I need to know that what are the possible risks, and how can I prevent them. will I loose SIM unlock? (Here in XDA, many people said no, but a few people mentioned that it can be possible. So which one is true?) How can I backup SIM unlock? How can I backup current Rom on my phone and be able to restore that backup.
Any kind of help will be appreciated

After s-off you need to flash custom recovery and do backup form your stock rom
sent from HTC Sensation 4G
make sure you don't have HTC sync or something like that on your pc when trying to s-off, best to not even have HTC driver at all - use "universal android driver".
It's how I ruined my sd card. Also, make sure you back up ALL your sdcard content because you can lose it during s-off (I did). If you get past s-off without a hitch, then everything else will be easy. Do note that 4.4 ROMS are still buggy relative to the older ones

What about SIM unlock, how can I back it up? Currently I've made a backup of my ROM with "clockworkmod" using and app named "Rom Manager".
I don't know what sim unlock is sorry. If it's a physical unlock, then s-off or a ROM change won't change it. If it's something within your ROM like an app then changing your ROM will remove it, you have to get it again, but as I said I don't know what a sim unlock is (google something like "sim unlock, rom" - if its not removed when you change roms then it won't be removed in this scenario)
You should use 4ext recovery or twrp recovery instead of clockworkmod, they both can do more and go wrong less often.
Once in 4ext recovery, do a backup (this is called a nandroid backup),
copy that backup from your sd card and whatever else to somewhere else safe (you can lose the data in your card during s-off) as long as you have that nandroid you can always return your phone to the state it's in when the backup took place.

Well, i lost my recovery when i tried to s-off this last sensation. BUT as long as you can get into fastboot/hboot (the white screen when you press power+volume down) you can flash recovery.img from your computer there, so you will always be able to get into recovery
Even if you can't get to fastboot using power+volume down for whatever reason, you may still be able to get to fastboot if you can get adb or fastboot command(s) respond from command prompt (this is what happened to me, can't get to fastboot using volume+power, but can send adb commands from computer)
you should be ok, just make sure ASK IF YOU'RE UNSURE, DON'T JUST ASSUME THINGS THAT YOU'RE REALLY NOT SURE OF, ESPECIALLY REGARDING S-OFF METHOD/SDCARD, it's how I bricked my sdcard(well lost data)

Flashing roms has nothing to do with SIM lock.
S-Off not necessary to flash CM 11
Getting S-Off is not really required if you're just looking at flashing ROM's. I've been using my phone with S-On since more than a year and no problem in flashing any ROM yet. You just need to flash 4ext recovery and enable smart flash. Just follow this awesome guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
And you may go for S-Off after you get to know more about your phone...
Just my input here but you cannot lose sim unlock pal it's a hardware lock that once removed cannot be undone
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk
From my experience, once you SIM unlock you won't lose it after you s-off, root, and flash... But as everybody has said, make sure you backup just in case you need to go back or do something wrong
Sent from my HTCSensation using xda app-developers app
Thanks everyone. Finally, with your helps, I flashed Cyanogenmod 11 on my HTC Sensation, and all the progress went well, without loosing anything important! But, After a few hours of testing, I found some problems, that made me go back to official Rom. I think I'd better write a review about it for other people too.
