Unless you have a fingerprint reader that plugs into the phone somehow, no. There are apps that supposedly do this, but those are more of a joke than a reality. The touch screen on phones does not have the sensitivity to be used as a fingerprint reader.
It would be a neat feature, as you could set it up so only you could unlock your phone. My laptop has one, which is far quicker and more convenient than typing my password.
Although, I suppose it could be possible to create an app that would use the camera to take a picture of your fingerprint, and use that for access, but you have to unlock the phone to use the camera first, so I don't see it being feasible.

was wondering if there was an app out that could possibly use ur thumb or finger print to unlock the phone rather than the design...idk i saw something like a ritna (eye) scan thing...just a thought
Considering that the phone doesn't have a fingerprint reader or a retina scanner, I would say no.
biowallet is coming out with ritna scanner (wat there site says) and it was just a thought
Does anyone know if it's possible to print from the Transformer? I'd like to know before making the purchase.
Have you seen this already?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.pauloslf.cloudprint&hl=en
Has anyone been able to print with the ASUS transformer? Like a Polaris doc or a pdf using any app?
I use PrinterShare. An app on market. Works pretty good. THe pro version lets you print MS office docs, nto sure if the lite version allows. I do print PDF's all the time, just not sure if the lite version does that. PrinterShare uses my WIFI and needs no computer to be on, it jsut finds the printer on my network.
On a side note...I noticed my new EVO 3D prints pics automatically (meaning there is a button hen veiwing pics to print with no app being used). I tried to print to my wireless epson and it did it without any problems. I am pretty sure this is the SENSE UI. Point being, it is starting to show up on android now. iN ADDITION, I think the VIBE comes preloaded with PrinterShare, but thats not enough to make me want to hld that thing in my hands.

Update: solution in post 5
I recently started school again and I have this habit of taking notes only on my Laptop. I just cant take notes on paper, it irritates me.
My laptop is perfect for note taking until the professor gets to the part of the lecture where they start drawing molecular arrangements and drawing images on the smart board.
I was wondering if there was any app, or any way i would be able to hook up my smart phone to my laptop so i can draw these images on my phone and have it show DIRECTLY to my laptop. i know there are apps out there like bamboo paper etc, where i can draw on my phone and just transfer it later to my laptop but i take a lot of notes, and the information goes by quick and i want to make sure i insert necessary drawings into the right place in my notes.
Ideally i would like to just draw something on my phone and have it appear directly in word (on my laptop), or just something i could quickly drag into my word document.
Not sure if anything like this exists or if this is a stupid 1st world problem , but if it does exist let me know.
and no, i dont want to buy a tablet or another laptop that i can directly write on, that would be too easy.
Thanks in advance.
ps. i have a vaio with windows 7 and a rooted S3, if that matters.
anybody?
Help?

OK. This is a shot in the dark. I haven't confirmed that this will work, but you can try it. I have the Evernote app running in Chrome on my computer. Evernote has a companion app for android called Skitch. It is a drawing app and it MAY be able to do what you need. Please keep us posted on your success. You are not the only one who could use this!

Thanks for the info. I tried it out and it's not exactly what I was looking for but it does work.
I have skitch on my phone and I can draw and sync it to evernote (this can also be done with evernote app) . Then I can open evernote on my pc, sync and save the file.
The only downside (and big one for me) with this is the necessity of Internet. The University I go to has very thick concrete buildings and sometimes I am in an underground laboratory, both of which make Internet and wifi very difficult if not impossible to use.
I am still looking for a way to directly hook up my phone to pc through usb as a writing pad for these situations.
Thank you for trying, maybe there are some more ideas out there?

Ok guys I figured it out.
Instead of looking for an app that is specifically made to just draw on a smartphone and have it come up on pc, i looked up an app to control my pc.
I used Unified Remote ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Relmtech.Remote ) which allows you to use your Android to remotely control your pc. You can do this through wifi or blue tooth, and thankfully my laptop has blue tooth. This app is very easy to use and convenient, thanks a lot Unified Intents for this app.
Anyway its simple to connect and i just type up my notes on my pc normally, and when my professor throws up those nasty equations and diagrams I just grab my stylus and draw the image directly into Microsoft word, power point, or virtually any app like paint or photoshop.
Keep in mind that since you are using a smart phone, drawing detail may not be great (don't expect any Picasso action) and this is completely due to your specific phone.
Hope this helps someone else out there, and if it does please let me know.
Happy note taking!

+1 for unified remote. I use it as a remote control when I am laying in bed and watching videos on my big PC monitor. I'm surprised however that your professor don't mind you pulling out a smartphone during class. My professors would kick me out of class for that no matter what the reason

I'm in higher education and at this point my professors could care less what anyone does as long as it is not loud. We pay several thousand dollars for our educations, jokes on us if we spend that money on texting and Facebook.

do you have a try with digital writing drawing pad
with a digital drawing / writing tablet , you can Note down your ideas with ease in your handwriting. drawing tablet come with a digital pen /stylus . offer good writing experience .
I've had my XP-Pen Star G430 : https://www.xp-pen.com/product/46.html drawing pad for almost four years, and it stills works well, even if it sometimes has issues with the driver, but that's more Windows 10 and Microsoft than the tablet.
Other than the apps that come as part of samsungs note package what else do you use that takes advantage of the spen. I intend on getting a few different drawing apps, but was wondering if there was anything that I hadnt considered that really shines when using it with the spen.
Thanks
Not strictly a drawing app but I like "LectureNotes" a lot, you can configure the button on the pen to be an eraser toggle which is awesome. The UI needs some improvement but as far as functions goes this is way better than s note IMO

Papayrus is another good one, though I think I prefer LectureNotes for most uses. LectureNotes is amazingly customizable and the developer seems very responsive (there's a forum here on XDA that he seems pretty active on).

Side question (hopefully not hijacking this thread!): I can't figure out how to make use of the S-Pen button in LectureNotes (or anything else for that matter)--any time I hold down the S-Pen button and then draw (to erase, select, etc.) I just trigger the snapshot utility built into the OS. Can these functions not coexist (ie, do I need to just disable that snapshot utility to be able to use the S-Pen button in other apps like LectureNotes)?

For LectureNotes you only need to press the pen button once while hovering to select the alternate tool (eraser, cutter, ...) and it will change to that tool. After one use it will change back to the previous tool you had.
More apps need to make use of that pen button, there's so much potential.

Great. Thanks! This is what I was hoping for. Not necesarily drawing apps, but other apps that people may not have considered for their notes.
I read good things about MyScript Notes Mobile on another site but haven't had the time to try it out yet.
Also 6$ seems quite hefty for an app without a limited trial or something like that...
Also have a look at S-Pen Voice and Snap Pad, both available as freemium apps.

Yoko

ArtFlow Studio: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bytestorm.artflow (cant post link yet, sorry), a holo themed drawing app.
Disclaimer: I'm a developer so I'm not quite objective , but basic features are free (and ad free) so you can try for yourself (full functionality can be unlocked by single in-app licence purchase).

I think LectureNotes could work for you. I believe you can use it in either Portrait or Landscape (I always use Portrait, personally). You might be able to sync the files between devices using Dropsync or FolderSync. I use Dropsync just to backup the files to my Dropbox account. I've not tried to sync between devices. You'd probably need to be careful to only open a note on another device after it has synced, or you'd likely end up with collisions.
There's a thread here on XDA where the author ( @acadoid ) is very active.
It is a great app--I highly recommend it!

thanks for the tip, i purchased lecture notes yesterday and it was exactly what i was looking for. i also contacted the developer with a question or two and he was quick to respond and helpful.
For stuff that didn't come standard issue the only app I really tend to use with the S-Pen is Skitch, I find it lightweight and perfect for simple markups that won't need S-Note's more productivity oriented GUI.
Not a fan of Quill, it's too clunky in the UI (unlike S-Note) and I'm too lazy to try Papyrus again even though they both support the S-Pen.

You're welcome! I'm glad it is working out well for you!
Snap Pad is pretty darn useful. :3
I was wondering about this myself as I am trying to decide if I should get the note 8 or not. This info is helpful. thanks.
Lecture Notes is rocking my world. Leaves S-Notes in the dust.
Without GMD S-Pen Control my S-Pen would be less than half useful. And, of course, Lecture Notes.
For syncing App Data (for example Lecture Notes) between devices I think DataSync+ is a better solution than Dropsync or FolderSync, both are more useful for data which is not hard linked with apps.
With DataSync+ I even sync Notes from AwesomeNotes between Note 8.0 and N7000.

The galaxy note pro is a really good tablet. But I would ask you if it support the installation of Windows 8. I think that Galaxy Note Pro should be more useful and more productive with dual boot.
Thanks
I don't think you can do that but you can use Remote PC to conncet your Windows computer and use it anywhere.
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
No, you can't install Windows 8/8.1 on a Note Pro. And I completely disagree about it being more useful. Windows 8/8.1 makes crappy tablet OS and very limited for apps. Even if you could install a legacy x86/x64 installation (you can't cause note pro is a arm chip) and run traditional PC apps it would suck as traditional PC apps just don't work well on touch screen devices. Use the Remote PC or RDP to connect your your desktop/laptop for those things that you need full Windows otherwise use the tablet as intended...
The primary reason I'd be interested in installing Windows 8 would be to use it as a cheaper Cintiq Companion. But I suppose the biggest drawback would by stylus support. Any experience on using remote on this tablet on Photoshop with pressure sensitivity? Most posts I'm finding are either no or "maybe if the right app exists".

Doesn't work. I've tried everything to get that to work. The problem is that because Photoshop runs inside an app, the app itself needs to be able to register the pen pressure. They don't, so Photoshop can't see it either.

That does indeed sound promising! Going to keep an eye on that one...
Their approach is completely different from a usual virtual PC app, so let's hope it works!
