was wondering if there was an app out that could possibly use ur thumb or finger print to unlock the phone rather than the design...idk i saw something like a ritna (eye) scan thing...just a thought
Considering that the phone doesn't have a fingerprint reader or a retina scanner, I would say no.
biowallet is coming out with ritna scanner (wat there site says) and it was just a thought

Key Ring is an app that allows you to enter those club cards that most retailers/supermarkets have now. You can enter any card with a bar code and the app will know most of them. The idea is your phone will now display the bar code and you can scan the screen on your phone instead of carrying 5 or more cards in your wallet. Its a great idea.
The problem for me is I am finding the bar code scanners at retailers are not able to pick up the bar code from my screen. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Perhaps AMOLED does not work as well as LCD for this application?
Pops_G,
Hey, Key Ring customer support here. Your assumptions are correct. It's the incredible's screen that makes it difficult to scan barcodes from the screen. CCD/Led handheld scanners should work fine though, just not laser handheld scanners. CVS uses LED scanners for sure.
Hope this helps!
Team Key Ring
Thats a bummer it doesn't work with all laser scanners but it makes sense.
Sounds like an app I should check out though.
hmm, would it be possible to make a list of the major retailers that are on the app that are compatible with LED scanners?
like: (just example)
Walmart - Laser
CVS - LED
Giant - Laser???
would be helpful to maybe even include it in the app itself to let the users know forehand while using the app
Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on you look at, the list of retailers that use compatible scanners is a moving target. Many retailers are in process of updating their point of sale scanners to be compatible with phone screens. I imagine in the next 1-4 years most large retailers will upgrade.
Hope this helps.
Chris
Takes longer to scan your phone than the groceries. Not a very viable app regrettably.

How do you figure?? It's just as long to scan your phone screen as it is to scan a hard copy of a shoppers club card.. Just have it on your screen before they finish scanning your items. It's not that hard on my incredible to bring up a stored card and its easier than having 100 small cards either in my wallet or on my key chain.

So less at least start some type of list. If you go to a store and it sirany work let the rest of us know.

doesnt ever work for me. my friend says that if he smears the screen with his hand it works better, but honestly its faster to just use a keyring for me. app is a cool idea though.
Even if the stores scanner doesn't read your screen well, the cashier could enter the number manually. A little more work for the cashiers, but Less clutter for us!
Well worth it, to have program to store and organize all these store discount/loyalty cards.
Please develop this program for WM 6.1.
Does anyone know if it's possible to print from the Transformer? I'd like to know before making the purchase.
Have you seen this already?

Has anyone been able to print with the ASUS transformer? Like a Polaris doc or a pdf using any app?
I use PrinterShare. An app on market. Works pretty good. THe pro version lets you print MS office docs, nto sure if the lite version allows. I do print PDF's all the time, just not sure if the lite version does that. PrinterShare uses my WIFI and needs no computer to be on, it jsut finds the printer on my network.
On a side note...I noticed my new EVO 3D prints pics automatically (meaning there is a button hen veiwing pics to print with no app being used). I tried to print to my wireless epson and it did it without any problems. I am pretty sure this is the SENSE UI. Point being, it is starting to show up on android now. iN ADDITION, I think the VIBE comes preloaded with PrinterShare, but thats not enough to make me want to hld that thing in my hands.

Unless you have a fingerprint reader that plugs into the phone somehow, no. There are apps that supposedly do this, but those are more of a joke than a reality. The touch screen on phones does not have the sensitivity to be used as a fingerprint reader.
It would be a neat feature, as you could set it up so only you could unlock your phone. My laptop has one, which is far quicker and more convenient than typing my password.
Although, I suppose it could be possible to create an app that would use the camera to take a picture of your fingerprint, and use that for access, but you have to unlock the phone to use the camera first, so I don't see it being feasible.
Hi, I work for a small company which deals with a bit of retail and need to do stock checks which is a pain in the butt!
I have been thinking of ways to make it easier and found a app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maiko.xscanpet&hl=en-GB) This allows me to use the phone to scan the barcode and it increases the the stock level accordingly.
I am wondering if i can connect a USB scanner which i feel would speed things up, to my phone. I would need a Micro USB(male) to Std USB (female) connector. Would one like this on eBuyer work ? http://www.ebuyer.com/506688-4in-micro-usb-to-usb-otg-host-adapter-m-f-uusbotg

Well, depending on how you would need to export the items you scanned using the app, it should work. The app description says it exports to Excel. But also based on the app desc, it says you will use your smartphone's camera (as you know) but they don't leave it very open ended. I would be skeptical of using the scanner.
In my opinion, it would be faster to just use your phone camera. Sounds like they have the app set up so you can just scan - enter - scan - enter, kind of deal. Adding extra cable and another device to carry/monitor may actually slow you down.
Perhaps try without the scanner first and if it's miserable, give the scanner a try. It definitely sounds feasible, as you ask.
It is feasible, just look in the right forums for it and someone will be able to guide you step by step (that probably won't be on XDA).
You've ended in the Q&A section dedicated to the Nexus 5. Look for a forum talking about your specific App and current store setup.
The solution you find should normally be independant of which phone you have (although Android Version and Hardware capabilities will of course have a role).
Good luck!
This fingerprint scanner application can tell you "Are you a human or not"
Use this app to fool your friend.
When you scan your fingerprint, this app will tell you "Yes,you are a human"
But when your friends scan their fingerprint, this app will tell them "No, you aren't a human ,are you a mosquito(random animal name)?"
- tab the screen once quickly before scan your fingerprint to get answer "YES" (do it naturally and don't be caught red-handed)
- just scan your fingerprint to get answer "NO" and app will ask you Are you animal? (random animal name)
To make your friend more confuse, you can do something such as shake a phone or close the camera while scanning
Don't tell your friend the trick/cheat !!!
