The developer claims it improves performance on ics by 30-40%, and since we may be stuck on ics for a while, has anybody considered trying it on our device?

It's just a package that contains official libs and some framework files that were build or modded for XPERIA S so, obviously, it ONLY works for that phone man, u also can try the apps inside but they may not work (due to missing framework) and surely, just by apps then you won't get any performance boost ^^...so, I don't recommend it

Hey everyone, I have done a search on this a couple times, but haven't found much luck. I've been a little more ADHD with the ROM flashing lately and one thing I've missed from CM7 is the "CyanogenMod Settings" option in the Settings menu. I know many of these settings can be changed elsewhere, but it's very convenient. Is this install-able or flash-able on other AOSP roms? No-Sense? Thanks!
I don't know how to get the apk off of my phone since I'm not at a computer but I can tell you that the name of the process is com.cyanogenmod.cmparts maybe that can help you find it.

I am pretty positive it is quite a bit more then just an apk, and involves quite a bit of framework as well.

I was able to find the cmstats apk but I think mudknot is right, it just didn't install. I think some of the settings might be CM specific anyway, so it might be more trouble than it's worth.
The settings apk will only work with CM based roms as they use different framework files for it. There is no way to make it work on non CM based rom. One of the things with CM based roms, things only work with other CM based roms and no others as they dont use any of the propritary files that normal roms run on. The main reason for alot of app compatablity issues.
Is there a rom or a way to add tweak tools to any of the roms for this device?
Edit: ok so apparently its a tool only available for the Droid charge. But the reason I ask is because one the theme options in this tool is a complete ics theme. This includes status bar tweaks, apk tweaks, launcher tweaks, system tweaks that include some system files from ics to improve scrolling and app drawer performance. System settings are ics styled And some other ics goodness on gingerbread. All this in one mod available through tweaktools. I've been looking around the atrix 2 roms and there are some ics look alike roms on here but none that have themed as deep as this mod. Is there anyway of getting this on this phone. There is an option of downloading the tweak without applying for manually flashing in cwm. Could this be flashed on other phones as well? Or if I uploaded the tweak could someone here alter it to be flashed or incorporated in a new rom

To answer your question, yes I'm sure that it could be tweaked via a developer, However I will say that a lot of developers are holding off and waiting for ICS itself. Most have stopped developing for GB. ICS is right around the corner for us.
In the meantime you could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533858

I recently flashed CM10 on my samsung galaxy s3 I've lost s-memo and other stock applications in I would like to know how I can get them back with the apks i have

Have you tried to install the apks? If so what happens?

You can try pushing them to system/apps but I dont think they will run. If you want the stock apps stick with a stock ROM.
As i understand it...Stock apps are usually Odexed. Custom ROMs are De-odexed. Difference? Odex is the part loaded to the dalvik cache to help make the phone boot quicker. So the phone maker separates the APK into two files. The apk and odex. You cannot just run the file with the APK alone...you NEED the odex. A custom ROM would de-odex the files and they are combined into one. It WILL NOT run odex files. I have tried on a few ROMs on the bionic to get it to run stock apps in a custom rom if i included the odex. Still wouldn't work. If you can find someone to compile the APK and ODEX for you it may work.

Edit: plus many apps on this device like the weather clock are tied to touch wiz. You cannot use them outside of it. Even on another launcher with the stock ROM (nova [my fave], apex, go, etc)
If you want stock bloated apps use a touchwiz rom.
Good luck

I'm hoping to find a few ppl that are still running stock ICS. I recently flashed numa, which I love the rom but there are a couple of things of like back the way they were. I liked the stock email client, the stock swype keyboard, and last but not least i like the gallery app from stock cause it had that built in editor. If anyone could help me out with these apps I would be indebted to you.

Just FYI, that will probably not work as NUMA is a deodexed ROM and the apps you're requesting are odexed. Of course, depending on how badly you want them, there are many ways and threads/tutorials on how to deodex that you could check out.
Brought to you by time and relative dimensions in space.
Thanks for the heads up on that one.

I've been running stock for a long time, and I found the Xposed framework which lets you add modules and tweak your phone like mad, you just have to have some modules. The cool thing is it runs the background on stock ICS, and if there is a problem all you have to do is disable the framework, no having to flash backups and whatnot. I've been working on a theme for stock ICS to get that CM10 style theming going on, and it's coming along pretty nicely. It uses the Xtheme module to do the work. I'll post some links and maybe you all might find some other things that you like and all that.

I guess this device is dead not one person posted a single stock apk and this thread is a year old. wow. shouldn't have bought this legacy device kinda still thought it was useful. can't find stock messaging app anywhere or launcher

I dug up this old tut on rootzwiki: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/379-how-to-enable-crt-animation-on-any-23-device/
Basically, it states that you can enable the CRT screen on/off animation by editing bools.xml in any framework-res.apk on an android phone above version 2.3. I currently am running a stock pre-rooted deodexed rom. Kernel: "3.0.31-1152558 [email protected] #1"
Alot of users end up bricking their phones by trying to replace the framework-res.apk obtained from other sources, and right now i'm feeling scared to edit the apk by myself.
Would this procedure be too risky? Can I take a nandroid backup of only my system partition to restore from soft brick? Or, if something goes wrong, is it possible that it could be hard bricked just from this wrong apk?
You just want to change CRT animation? Why not use xposed?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Then there are all kinds of modules you could tinker with (xblast tools for example is one I use). It's really easy, and pretty safe I'd say.

omigawsh, i've used the xposed framework for google wallet, and i never knew i could do this. WOW! Thanks man. I'm gonna try it out.
Update: It seems xblast tools does not work. I heard the library "libsurfaceflinger.so " needs to be edited on the GS3 stock rom. I cant just flash any version, as it holds a video driver, so I need to edit it.
What Rom are you using? The developer of xblast is super responsive. Plus I know they have updated it twice recently (most recently to work with 4.4). Send him an email, maybe he can help you.

I was running a stock 4.1.2 touchwiz rom when attempting this mod. Since this thread i've just loaded the 11-20-2013 nightly of the KitKang 4.4 rom. I'm still interested to know if its possible to modify the graphics driver on the SCH-I535 stock roms. It would be a great mod for those hesitant to install custom roms for the sake of the CRT animation.
I'm not sure alot of xposed devs have had experience modifying android graphics drivers. Afaik xposed only modifies the system framework that runs in the java virtual environment. Drivers are on the kernel level. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to contact some developers.
