I have the droid charge and I was trying to find info on whether my charge would be able to use a TELCEL or any mexican mobile companies SIM card while I am down there. I could not find an answer. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance

Doubt it. American LTE networks work on completely different bands. The iPhone 5 is pretty much the only phone that is compatible with almost every LTE network.
Damn okay ill have to just buy another nokia brick while I'm there

I know they are for the korean market, but will I be able to use them with AT&T?
They are not just for the asian market... They will be sold here in scandinavia too...
If your network supports LTE (called 4G here, even that its really not 4G), then yes... otherwise, no!!

Lol yes thank you. What I meant it's that if they were going to be GSM models.
Also, when are they coming out?

Your best bet would be to look at the AT&T website and check out reviews for the phones that may interest you on YouTube.
Another solution would be to unlock your SGS4G so you can use it on AT&T.

Aside from the obvious...dual processor etc...there are a couple of notable down grades in the sgs2 from sgs4g that will effect you daily. The main difference is the drop in audio quality, Samsung went cheap with the DAC's...no more Wolfson, some cheap Yamaha instead. Big turn off for me as my phone doubles as my mp3 player. I also read multiple online reviews that said the sgs2 eats battery like no phone before it. I'm not knocking it, but trading off audio quality and battery life for higher benchmark scores isn't for me. I'd unlock your sgs4g and get an AT&T Sim IMO..

Galaxy s 2. Infuse in the exact same thing as our phone, just a bigger screen and better camera. At least the galaxy s 2 is sorta an upgrade.

I'm in mexico at the moment. Don't bring your sgs4g. All carriers here use the same freq bands for 3g. They use 850 for 3G and 1900 for gsm, so you would get only 2g (
Edge).
Based on that info, look for a phone that will work well here.

SGS4G can use the following Band (frequency):
* 850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;UMTS: Band I (2100);UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100)
From Tmobile website....

is your phone unlocked? Or are u on tmobile and just not getting 3g because thats kinda expected. I know the vibrant can do att 3g but im not sure on the GS4G
I'm not from the US. I just bought the phone there. I live in Venezuela and over there I have 3g just fine. I came to mexico to work, and bought a Sim card here, from one of the local carriers.
However, all of them use the same band for 3g which is 850. The sgs4g can only get hsdpa (3g) on 1900, 1700 and 2100 mhz.
If you don't mind (you should) using only edge, then bring it with
you, otherwise get another phone.

Hola
Is there any actual hardware difference between a 4g enabled Xoom and just a wifi? My dad recently got an Xoom from work and I've installed the team EOS wifi nightly on it,can I go over and install a rom on here for 3 or 4g GSM connection or is there a hardware factor involved? If not then can I just put the sim card that's in my infuse in the Xoom and have it run off that (after installing a 4g campatible from)? Or is there more to it?
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
Us 4g xooms are not gsm capable as they're set up to run on the Verizons lte network which does use a sim card. It won't work with the sim out of your Infuse regardless of what rom you flash as it does not have the correct hardware. If it is a wifi only model it lacks the hardware to connect to any wireless network at all again regardless of what rom you flash. Hope that helps

The keyword in your statement is "seems." It may have a sim slot, but its not connected to anything and it doesn't have a radio that is capable of connecting to any cellular networks, period.

... I never said that it was a wifi only Xoom, in fact I'm trying to figure out what kind it is, so I setup this thread wrong and asked the wrong question, the real question would be how do I tell what type I have?

If it has "Verizon" on the bezel the it is CDMA 3G (possibly 4G or upgradable to 4G) if not, the it is Wi-Fi. If you still have the box, look at the model number, it should be MZ60X where the X is a number between 1-5. You can then Google what the version numbers mean.

As a previous poster commented, if it's verizon you'll know. They put their branding all over it so it's pretty easy to tell. Enjoy your xoom

Hi,
Has anyone found a way to force our phones to roam without rooting? I have bad Verizon service at my apartment but good At&t. Thanks in advance.

You do realize that you can't' "roam" from ATT to VZW and vice versa?
ATT uses GSM technology while VZW uses CDMA. ATT has its own SIM card that will not work with VZW and VZW has its own as well.
There is a thread around here about using the VZW SGS3 with international GSM roaming, this requires you to have another cell provider's SIM, so you get a different number. I don't think this would work with ATT as they use different GSM frequencies from the rest of the world.
I don't even think the VZW SGS3 has the correct radio to work with ATT....
I guess I should mention that Altel got bought out by AT&T here and I used to be able roam on their towers using the app Roam Control. But sadly it doesn't work with the S3.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I did find another thread after I responded to you initially: While I am correct about not being able to roam between the 2 networks, you can apparently "switch" to using one or the other... so you would have to swap SIM cards to do this.
Although at the moment, I don't think 3G data is working...

I'll be switching to T-Mobile soon and wanted to use my SCH-I535 as a stopgap until the LG G3 comes out.
What GSM or hspa frequencies are supported?

Read post #3. That's about the most technical info that I recall about specific GSM radios.
That's the best info I've seen. It also confirms my experience on DTAC on the Verizon GS3 in Thailand. They use 1800 GSM & 850/2100 HSPA.
I guess I'll be rough'n it until I find my next phone.
