Force Roaming - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi,
Has anyone found a way to force our phones to roam without rooting? I have bad Verizon service at my apartment but good At&t. Thanks in advance.

Or even if rooted?

Anyone heard anything yet?

You do realize that you can't' "roam" from ATT to VZW and vice versa?
ATT uses GSM technology while VZW uses CDMA. ATT has its own SIM card that will not work with VZW and VZW has its own as well.
There is a thread around here about using the VZW SGS3 with international GSM roaming, this requires you to have another cell provider's SIM, so you get a different number. I don't think this would work with ATT as they use different GSM frequencies from the rest of the world.
I don't even think the VZW SGS3 has the correct radio to work with ATT....

I guess I should mention that Altel got bought out by AT&T here and I used to be able roam on their towers using the app Roam Control. But sadly it doesn't work with the S3.

I did find another thread after I responded to you initially: While I am correct about not being able to roam between the 2 networks, you can apparently "switch" to using one or the other... so you would have to swap SIM cards to do this.
Although at the moment, I don't think 3G data is working...

Nope, T-Mobile is a GSM carried and Verizon is CDMA. This phone is only built with a GSM radio.

Doesn't it use AWS? That means technically you could put it on carriers like Cricket and Metro PCS then right?
Nope. Get a droid charge

AWS?
It can be used on any GSM carrier from what I know. I mean, I'm on AT&T.
What do you mean nope? Why
Couldn't you just change the settings to metro pcs or cricket like you can with the evo?

Really? I sure as hell didnt know my phone was GSM. You seem to be missing the question completely.
Unless you have a world band phone that has cdma bands plus gsm bands it wont work Verizon blackberries have cdma+gsm some did should i say. Hince why you could go overseas and roam off vodaphone phone also had sim card.
but to answer the queston no
samsung glaxy s gsm no cdma not even compatable with 4g lte
as far as cricket and metro pcs they dont use sim cards so no way to activate the phone on the network.
What is wcdma? My phone says gsm/wcdma

On the moon our weekend are so advanced they encompass the entire week
simply put its not going to hapen end of story... unless verizon goes gsm... doubtfull
Verizon won't go GSM. If they did, it'd be pretty stupid anyway. CDMA implementations seem to be better than GSM.
WCDMA is a worldwide band for connectivity, I believe.

4g and wifi?

Is there any actual hardware difference between a 4g enabled Xoom and just a wifi? My dad recently got an Xoom from work and I've installed the team EOS wifi nightly on it,can I go over and install a rom on here for 3 or 4g GSM connection or is there a hardware factor involved? If not then can I just put the sim card that's in my infuse in the Xoom and have it run off that (after installing a 4g campatible from)? Or is there more to it?

Us 4g xooms are not gsm capable as they're set up to run on the Verizons lte network which does use a sim card. It won't work with the sim out of your Infuse regardless of what rom you flash as it does not have the correct hardware. If it is a wifi only model it lacks the hardware to connect to any wireless network at all again regardless of what rom you flash. Hope that helps

The keyword in your statement is "seems." It may have a sim slot, but its not connected to anything and it doesn't have a radio that is capable of connecting to any cellular networks, period.

... I never said that it was a wifi only Xoom, in fact I'm trying to figure out what kind it is, so I setup this thread wrong and asked the wrong question, the real question would be how do I tell what type I have?

If it has "Verizon" on the bezel the it is CDMA 3G (possibly 4G or upgradable to 4G) if not, the it is Wi-Fi. If you still have the box, look at the model number, it should be MZ60X where the X is a number between 1-5. You can then Google what the version numbers mean.

As a previous poster commented, if it's verizon you'll know. They put their branding all over it so it's pretty easy to tell. Enjoy your xoom

[Q] Quick Question...

I found a GS3 on craigslist for $175 and was thinking about snatching it. The phone was originally AT&T but it is factory unlocked. Will this work just fine on Verizon and will I still be able to get the same 4G LTE?
No, the hardware isn't there for that as far as data goes.

So basically no other carriers GS3 would be suitable for Verizon other than a Verizon GS3? Or is there another carriers GS3 that is suitable for Verizon's 4G LTE?

The phone should work if it is unlocked, however, data will be slow. Also, not sure how the new law affects it.....

AT&T runs on the gsm network. Verizon runs a CDMA network. Gotta have radios that can talk to the network....

FCC approves S4

http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/article.php?a=12145
One thing I haven't seen anyone talk about is does the s4 have simultaneous voice and data like the s3? I know it will for gsm but what about CDMA? I have the verizon gs3 and love the feature. It even does it while on 3g (only a handful of phones do this on 3g CDMA)

Now if we can just get the AT&T version approved.

[Q] gsm to 4g?

I have a AT&T Samsung Galaxy s2 i777. But I have it with Walmart Family Mobile service which doesnt offer 3g/4g. Its Gsm unlocked and I don't pay for 4g. So if I want to use internet, either I use my regular network, or I have to use a local unlocked wifi. Is there any way to force unlock, or somehow use my 4g? My phone is rooted if that helps.
If you don't get 4G from your carrier. You can't hack service.
