Hello. I joined xda a few months ago and as you know you need 10 posts so you can comment on other forum topics.
I had 9 posts, and today i went to make another one and when i posted it it said that i made 1 post instead of 10. Why did my counter reset?

I dont really remember where i posted. In general forum, some galaxy s3 threads, battery hungry smartphones. There are certain threads that may delete your posting history?
nah a mod might have delete them if they were not useful or spamming to get your ten posts,
check this out it may help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282679

Hi everybody
I´m trying to post coments to thanks and share some videos about android aplications but I can´t.
Appears a message saying that i should have more than 8 post.
How can I post if the forum don,t allow me to do it?.
Thanks so much
Hugesis
You need 10 posts to post in the dev section.
It means that i have to post here to reach ten comments?
In what places can I post?
Thanks so much

Here you can
You can post in Q&A and General discussions most likely, until reaching 10 posts. This is made, I beleive, to control spams into the site, and make sure you are a real user not a program or something similar, and to urge new users to search before posting, since most of the time, your question has been answered some where.
Ok. Got it

Have you tried using the search functionality? It's likely others have experienced the same problem as you and the question has already been answered somewhere

ok. I understood. many many thanks for all who repply this post.. !!!
Welcome
Just so you know, questions ARE NOT meant to go into the development threads. Those are for bug reports only..NOT QUESTIONS. This is part of the reasoning behind needing 10 posts. It is in the hopes that you will learn these things first. There is a Q&A forum for questions.

Mr. I understand what you mean... maybe Iam write the wrong words.. its not a question what I need to do, its a bug on that room what I installed on my samsung skyrocket... and because have that bug on my phone I need to put a repply so maybe the room developer fix that bug.... however.. thanks for your repply . . .
Was wondering the same question too..
Heya
mee too.
Mods need to close this thread, else it will become another one of those "I want 10 posts, so I'll get them from here" threads...
So just posting in the general section is how you get to the 10 post limit. Is what I understand.

Questions are not posted in the development sub sections of specific device's forums. They are posted in the Q&A sections.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1399
See here.....this is a view of all the sub sections for the SkyRocket. Ask questions in Q&A.

It is true, you need 10 posts before you can post into development. The 10 post restrictions are there to protect the development threads from all kinds of spam and to give people a chance to get used to xda. The 10 post rule is not meant to make you feel bad about being new to xda, it is meant to protect the Development threads, which are the most important parts of xda. It should not take you that long to get your 10 posts while you familiarize yourself with xda. Here is a useful guides to help you: 10 post guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069298
and this one that coolsandie pointed out is awesome as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699450
Yes, it is so awesome that I needed to point it out again .

It's spam control.
You must write 10 post before unlock anothers.
I past 20 min to try post my question every where.
And it's impossible.
I tried to reponse from another question. Maybe my response is too long.
And I am trying to edit this post. It worked
But I can't post my question here. I don't know how you do it.
Thanks.
ps : sorry for my english.

all of this is correct, we get quite allot of spam here on xda, its also a way to post more development, like roms or mods/themes and such.
I know changing imei is illegal here. Just wondering if changing it will unlock a locked Qualcomm snapdragon phone.

its fine if you posted in some other area by mistake, but you posted here, and in the noob thread here, thats not necessary or allowed.
no worries.
OK. I'm confused. I was told to post my questions on Q&A. Isn't this Q&A?

yes it is, but you also posted it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257421 which is also q & a, a sticky at the top of this forum. that was my point, you post 2 times in q & a, once here in your own thread, and once in the noob thread i quoted.
i only know you posted in the noob q & a thread, because i replied to you there.
im sure no one in the noob thread told you to post in q & a, because its in q & a.
---------- Post added at 08:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:41 AM ----------
ok, to explain better, i went at looked at your posts.
in xda assist, they told you to ask in the thread i quoted before, which you did. then, when no one answered you in 20 minutes, you posted it again here, in this thread.
thats the problem, you need to only ask your question once per relevant forum, or as directed by higher members. you cant go to that forum and keep asking in short order when no one answers you right away.
make sense now?
5. Create a thread or post a message only once.
As a large forum, we don't need unnecessary clutter. You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer, revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time so it might take a while before you receive an answer. (Also refer to Rule 16)
We don't allow any discussion as it relates to changing IMEI, therefore, this thread is closed.
