Returning to stock ics issues - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey I know there is a ton of these threads out there but nothings really working for me.. I just got the infinity and I would like to give my tf101 to the wife for school (will be using keyboard dock). So basically I don't care if it's unrooted or what recovery is on it, as long as it's back at stock and stable for her. (unless there is a rom with basically zero issues). It is the ww version and originally had the ics 9.2.1.27 firmware. Any suggestions would be lovely
Currently on eos nightly build 81 with katkernel 70

[Q] What custom rom are you running and why?

I am running krakd because revolver was running slow. Its an awesome rom
you realize that you can add a pole to the op. that would make this easier and also i believe that there is already threads about this somewhere
We already have a thread in this and don't need a new one!

[Q] OPINION: Best ICS Rom for TF700T?

So I'm hesitant to update to JB (waiting for the official release, lovingly tweaked by our community) so I'm sticking with ICS for the time being. On my Transformer Prime I was running AndroWook and loved it, but no such rom for the Infinity.
So, in your valued opinion, what would you say is the best ICS rom and why?

There sorta is only one, Zeusrom.
We're all waiting on ASUS to release JB so we can get CM10 and AOKP going.

Well, you've still got Maniacs ROM, 9.4.5.26 with Tweaks, and a couple others that are stock with a few perks. Any thoughts on those?

You are sort of answering your own question... Maniacs hasn't seen an update in awhile, the others are stock with a couple perks. Zeus is close to what Androwook offered, though definitely not as heavily modified due to the slower pre-JB development growth of the Infinity community.

[Q] ROMs: EOS or RaymanFX's CM10?

Hello folks,
Since I'm going to update my TF101, I was wondering which custom ROM+Kernel I should put in it. I'm having doubts about EOS vs RaymanFX's CM10 and also between KatKernel vs elite.
What would be your opinion? What would be the advantages\disadvantages between them?
Cheers!
Having tried a lot of different ROMs I've found the combination listed in my signature to be the best for speed, stability, and attention to detail from their authors/maintainers.

I'm running exactly the same ROM and configuration as grgmre. It's the fastest my TF101 has ever run.
Thanks for the replies!
Since I didn't get any replies yesterday I decided to test that exact combo (EOS + KatKernel) and until now, I can also vouch that it is very stable and fast! There is no fault that I can point until now.
Cheers!

General stuttering and lagginess

I just got this tablet and am running Stock 4.1.1 android. I have unlocked and root my device. Although I have noticed that occasionally the tablet stutters or is a little laggy. Coming from my Nexus 4 I do not have no lag or stutter issues.
Is the Nexus 4 really that much faster?
Does the 4.2.1 update fix the lag on the tf300?
Is the stock ROM(4.1.1) just not optimized and would go to a custom ROM fix or help with the lag?
I assumed that the tegra 3 would give similar performance to what I get with my Nexus 4, which is very quick and pretty much never has any stutter or lag issue, but maybe the Nexus 4 is really that much faster. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
I've read that performing a factory reset has fixed this issue for some people. Is there any issues with performing a factory reset on an unlocked rooted tf300t? Would I have to reroot the tablet?

Any suggestions for what ROM to flash? Seems like a lot of people like the CleanROM.

CleanROM is a good choice because it's regularly updated and based off stock Asus firmware. However, when I used to use it in the past there were issues with using custom high-performance kernels cause it broke the ability to use my front camera (not good :thumbdown. So now I'm using CM10.1, on the official nightlies and its the best experience so far.. latest stock 4.2.2 android, full dock support and everything works as intended. Plus, I think there's been a performance kernel for CM10.1 released in the dev section just recently. Take a look!

Bought my TF300TL today and am not impressed by the speed as well. Seems like there isn't anything I could do now
Android 4.1.1 is already installed (did a factory wipe after the installation)

Front facing camera was fixed a long time ago with kernel modules. Newest version that will be out soon based on 4.2.1 is based from the Asus 10.6.1.8 source for the TF300 so everything will work correctly

Yeah I think I may jump onto CleanROM again, now that I'm using linux I'll need stock based roms.. have an idea for 4.2.1 OTA? And would we need to be on the new bootloader/kernel?
AW: General stuttering and lagginess
I had the same Problem with my TF300T ago, but after a few days of using the lags were gone (Im on official 4.2.1 not rooted). So i would use it for a few more days and see what happens
Sorry for the bad english, im from germany ˆˆ

Most stable AOSP based Rom you've tried so far?

So far I've only tried out TouchWiz based Roms for stability on our Verizon GS3. I've worked up the confidence to now try a AOSP Rom haha. Mainly stayed away because people said there were some data issues and problems with external SD cards with AOSP Roms? But anyways.... So which AOSP based Rom is the most stable that you've tried so far? I'm browsing the AOKP website right now.

I'm on AOKP right now, and I love it. I'm thinking of trying something else to try halo, but AOKP is my daily right now.

AOKP is pretty stable? And is it really that small of a Rom 152MB? I see that on the website like whoa for real!? lol....This is my first time trying an AOSP based Rom on my Verizon S3. Is there anything different I should do if I flash this Rom? Do I need to be on a specific OTA version from Verizon? K3, MB1, MD3, ect?
Very stable. I would install the mb1 aio.zip if you haven't already. Just because the md3 is terrible. AOSP ROMs are much smaller than touchwiz ROMs.

I reverted back to MB1 OTA, Rooted, and now I'm running Jelly Beans 15.. Would I already have the AIO or no? And does AOKP Rom include the Motorola "Rings Widget"?
This thread could get closed down as soliciting for our opinions on the "best" or the most "stable" can lead to arguments. Also we can not guarantee you will have the same positive experience of any ROM that gets mentioned in your thread. With that out the way the most stable one that I have tried was Avatar.
You would already have it, so you should be good. Also, AOKP won't have the moto stuff. There may be a flashable zip for that stuff.

Will it be a problem if I flash AOKP on TWRP 2.4.3.0? I don't like the newest version of TWRP because it doesn't read my back ups on the external SD card.
I had a hard time with twrp when it came to going from AOSP to touchwiz ROMs. It only read the 0 folder from the previous AOSP ROM so I wasn't able to get to anything that I downloaded to the download folder which is the sdcard0/download folder. Also from some reason you might have to wipe cache/dalvik Cache/factory reset a few times to successfully flash some ROMs.
Not sure, I'm on the newest twrp, and haven't had an issue with backups on my external.

I'm already on Jelly Beans by beanstown. Been on that Rom. It's awesome for a TouchWiz based Rom. But you can't customize the lock screen shortcuts on the AOSP lockscreen. And I'd like to add more to get a full circle.
theyre all stable.
youll need to flash the rom, then the newest version of the gapps.
there are small features in each that can make people stay or go from each. also every rom runs different frmo phone to phone. same goes for kernels.
Ive been runnning pacman with halo, pie and expanded desktop and im really liking it.
for a standard use setup though i go to slimbean.
I flashed AOKP today and nothing went wrong! Yes!! haha. It was a nice Rom but not as many mods as I was looking forward to. Not many battery icon choices but not a bad Rom at all.
I always keep liquidsmooth on my sd card when I get the itch but I have tried almost all them.

Does aokp still have issues with the video camera recording volume being lower than touch wiz? I know in aosp they fixed it a little but it's still very low comparatively speaking

I'm coming from a device (htc incredible 2) that didn't have an update to ICS. So, we had great developers to get ICS & JellyBean on our device. Back then I really loved AOSP, but with this phone I don't. I tried cm10.1 and missed a lot of the stock features, mostly the camera. I'll be sticking with modified stock for the time being because everything works and the camera is awesome. I'm sure everyone has there opinions, I'm interested in them for sure.

That bug is still there.
CarbonROM, SlimBean, and another forbidden AOSP ROM that I will not mention because the XDA mods will get all sensitive.

LiquidSmooth and SlimROM are my favorites. AOKP is a little behind the curve still.
