[Q] ROMs: EOS or RaymanFX's CM10? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello folks,
Since I'm going to update my TF101, I was wondering which custom ROM+Kernel I should put in it. I'm having doubts about EOS vs RaymanFX's CM10 and also between KatKernel vs elite.
What would be your opinion? What would be the advantages\disadvantages between them?
Cheers!

Having tried a lot of different ROMs I've found the combination listed in my signature to be the best for speed, stability, and attention to detail from their authors/maintainers.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium HD app

I'm running exactly the same ROM and configuration as grgmre. It's the fastest my TF101 has ever run.

Thanks for the replies!
Since I didn't get any replies yesterday I decided to test that exact combo (EOS + KatKernel) and until now, I can also vouch that it is very stable and fast! There is no fault that I can point until now.
Cheers!

I have flashed most of the ICS ROMs at one time or another. I personally prefer EOS Wingray with the Rogue Kernel but CM9 seems to be coming along so who knows. I would recommend trying a couple and making a decision.

??

Well I've had my xoom wifi for about a year, its been good but since upgrading to 4.1.2 its started to get slow,
Opening links take a while and clicking things are a slow, takes a while to show keyboard and links don't work sometimes (takes a few clicks)
I know this has probably been asked 1000's of times but I'm thinking of installing a ROM and need a suggestion,
I need a stable ROM where just about everything works like SD card etc etc and few extras won't be bad,
I like to select my own quick settings but not important
But it must be quick, I can't handle this slowness.
I've seen a few ROMs but not sure what is solid, how are teameos or cm 10.1 ? Differences ?
And are 4.2 Roms worth installing even though they are not official from Google ?
I usually install a ROM and stick to it, I don't like switching between roms,
Thanks in advance

You have to try them out. No one can tell how a ROM will perform on your hardware or if you will like it. However, I prefer Team EOS over CM10 because they have their own custom kernel and I like their overall customization options.

Thanks
So there's cm 10 and cm10.1 or eos 3 or eos 4.
Are 4.2.1 roms ok any issues ?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using Tapatalk 2
4.2.1 is ok, but there are a few issues here or there. But they have pretty much been resolved for me, that may or may not be true for you. I prefer 4.2 over 4.1 but that's my preference.

I have been using [ROM][4.2.1] My Android 4.2 for Xoom Wi-Fi - for some time now. It is very stable and I have noticed performance increases over the stock rom.

[Q] New here... ROM Suggestion?

Hey everyone I'm new here on the TF300 xda forums! I have been over at the HTC Rezound side of things for about a year now so I know a little about rooting. That being said I'm brand new to the tablet world. I bought this tablet for my self for Christmas and I am deciding to root and start customizing this awesome device. I guess what im looking for would be anything i need to know to look for in a ROM. Like what would some good features be and maybe where i should start. Any help would be appreciated.
If you want a fast and buttery smooth stock experience go CleanRom.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
If you're looking for a custom stock ROM that's fast and great to use I recommend Hydro 6.0. I use Hydro 6.0 and I love it, it was the only stock ROM I really liked. It's got great features too! GPU is cranked or somewhere around there (stock is 416), forced 120fps, it's fast, comes rooted, acid audio mod and awesome beats equalizer. Oh, and if you do use Hydro 6.0 I recommend using Clemsyn's overclock kernel, overclock it to 1.8 and you will have no issues. It also puts the GPU at 650 which is awesome! NFS MW runs no problem!!!! That kernel makes the ROM sooooo much better. But the best part is it's smooth and buttery, melted jellybean butter candy
Now, if you're looking for a custom ROM that's not stock, check out CM 10.1 or Blackbean 7. Both running Android 4.2.1 (thats a plus) and their easy to use and HIGHLY customization. I personally don't care for them because it's a bit overwhelming with the amount of customization you can do.
The best advice you will receive on this is to just try out different ROMs. Find one that suits you...one that you like, fits your needs and screams YOU.

I would say use CWM (Clockwork Recovery Mod) because with TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) I heard some people have had some issues such as it freezes in the middle of a flash, it won't boot into recovery or they get soft bricked. I haven't seen anyone with issues like that, that have used CWM.
I use twrp for recovery and no issues.
ROM suggestions above are spot on. The two big stock ROMs are CleanROM and Hydro. I was using CleanROM but now that Hydro is updating again, I just flashed it and am playing around with it. I haven't tried any of the non-stock ROMs. Would love more customization but I am concerned about stability and would want some stock Asus widgets.
For a kernel, I am a fan of Unter's. Clemsyn breaks the front camera, I believe. Unter does a great job.
+1 for TWRP. Many users here have had issues with CWM, including me. I had problems flashing zips and it wouldn't make backups correctly. Since using fast boot to flash TRWP, ive had no issues at all.

ROM suggestions

I've noticed that there isn't much dev going on for the Tf101 wifi so I wanna start adding some stuff to the dev thread and good some boost in here... questions..
1. What style if from would you see?? Aokp/Tw etc
2. What style of Audio mods ?? Sony Walkman/Awesome Beats/King Beatz
3 .Any other suggestions..
I'm ready to work with some participating help if possible
A.R.H.D. 3.6 ICS Custom KingBeatz Audio
Wifi itself, or the model TF101 Wifi ?
There is LOADS of dev work going on for the TF101, a good selection of ROMs to choose from
I've tried quite a few recent roms, the best Antutu benchmark performance after some fine-tuning I got was from Gierdo's CM 10 build of RaymanFX's unofficial Cyanogenmod, which is android 4.1. Right now i'm testing Josteink's unofficial Cyanogenmod which has android 4.2, i'm having a hard time matching it to the performance of the latter.
Katkernel is freaking awesome btw.

I have said it before, and I will say it again.
Benchmarks are kinda pointless IMO. I got the best benchmarks on ICS Megatron. However, JB 4.1 (I used the PA/CM10 hybrid) felt faster even though it got worse benchmarks than Megatron. TeamEOS 4 feels faster than JB 4.1 and gets even lower benchmarks.
One theory I have is that the hardware is using more resources to run the OS so it benchmarks worse, but it feels smooth to me. Not to mention some benchmarks have not been fully optimized for all devices running JB, especially a TF101 running 4.2.
I gave up trying to max out the benchmarks a while ago and just find what feels the best and is most functional for my needs. Currently, that is EOS 4.
Benchmarks are just statistics

Very true benchmarks IDC about there useless as long as the device looks puurty and kicks ass with feature were good so far dev selection are only CM10.1 from what I've seen the tf101 in general I don't have a tf101 3g so I don't know how well I would be able to support should be as but I'm open to trying
Liquidsmooth with it's kernel
EOS4 with Kat Kernel
No-Name cm10.1 with Kat Kernel.
My suggestions ^
I heard from my friends that cyanagen mod or something is good

I will get rock in on this tonight thanks for the suggestions
I'm currently running no-name CM10.1 with Kat Kernel and it's quite good. No issues yet. Was a little rough at first but smoothed out after the first day or so of use.
I find it runs better now than it did on stock ICS.
Been thinking of trying Liquidsmooth or EOS4. Anybody here tried running those 3? Which did you prefer and why?
Only main reason I would try those others is for more customization options/different look.
AW: ROM suggestions
I'd love atouchwiz rom

I'm using EOS 4 for several weeks. All other JB Roms caused many SODs and RRs. Is anybody testing Gierdos CM 10? I really liked it. But this SODs made me sick. Would be interesting if anybody made better experiences with newer versions. Got a 101G.

Most stable AOSP based Rom you've tried so far?

So far I've only tried out TouchWiz based Roms for stability on our Verizon GS3. I've worked up the confidence to now try a AOSP Rom haha. Mainly stayed away because people said there were some data issues and problems with external SD cards with AOSP Roms? But anyways.... So which AOSP based Rom is the most stable that you've tried so far? I'm browsing the AOKP website right now.

AOKP is pretty stable? And is it really that small of a Rom 152MB? I see that on the website like whoa for real!? lol....This is my first time trying an AOSP based Rom on my Verizon S3. Is there anything different I should do if I flash this Rom? Do I need to be on a specific OTA version from Verizon? K3, MB1, MD3, ect?
Very stable. I would install the mb1 aio.zip if you haven't already. Just because the md3 is terrible. AOSP ROMs are much smaller than touchwiz ROMs.

I reverted back to MB1 OTA, Rooted, and now I'm running Jelly Beans 15.. Would I already have the AIO or no? And does AOKP Rom include the Motorola "Rings Widget"?
This thread could get closed down as soliciting for our opinions on the "best" or the most "stable" can lead to arguments. Also we can not guarantee you will have the same positive experience of any ROM that gets mentioned in your thread. With that out the way the most stable one that I have tried was Avatar.
You would already have it, so you should be good. Also, AOKP won't have the moto stuff. There may be a flashable zip for that stuff.

Will it be a problem if I flash AOKP on TWRP 2.4.3.0? I don't like the newest version of TWRP because it doesn't read my back ups on the external SD card.
I had a hard time with twrp when it came to going from AOSP to touchwiz ROMs. It only read the 0 folder from the previous AOSP ROM so I wasn't able to get to anything that I downloaded to the download folder which is the sdcard0/download folder. Also from some reason you might have to wipe cache/dalvik Cache/factory reset a few times to successfully flash some ROMs.
Not sure, I'm on the newest twrp, and haven't had an issue with backups on my external.

I'm already on Jelly Beans by beanstown. Been on that Rom. It's awesome for a TouchWiz based Rom. But you can't customize the lock screen shortcuts on the AOSP lockscreen. And I'd like to add more to get a full circle.
theyre all stable.
youll need to flash the rom, then the newest version of the gapps.
there are small features in each that can make people stay or go from each. also every rom runs different frmo phone to phone. same goes for kernels.
Ive been runnning pacman with halo, pie and expanded desktop and im really liking it.
for a standard use setup though i go to slimbean.
I flashed AOKP today and nothing went wrong! Yes!! haha. It was a nice Rom but not as many mods as I was looking forward to. Not many battery icon choices but not a bad Rom at all.
I always keep liquidsmooth on my sd card when I get the itch but I have tried almost all them.

Does aokp still have issues with the video camera recording volume being lower than touch wiz? I know in aosp they fixed it a little but it's still very low comparatively speaking

I'm coming from a device (htc incredible 2) that didn't have an update to ICS. So, we had great developers to get ICS & JellyBean on our device. Back then I really loved AOSP, but with this phone I don't. I tried cm10.1 and missed a lot of the stock features, mostly the camera. I'll be sticking with modified stock for the time being because everything works and the camera is awesome. I'm sure everyone has there opinions, I'm interested in them for sure.

That bug is still there.
CarbonROM, SlimBean, and another forbidden AOSP ROM that I will not mention because the XDA mods will get all sensitive.

LiquidSmooth and SlimROM are my favorites. AOKP is a little behind the curve still.
