Nexus 4 Diztronic Case Review

Design
5/5
The back of the case has a nice glossy tough black cover. The bottom of the case has a good looking shiny Diztronic logo on it and a slot cut open for the camera and speakers. The edges are made of a gelly type of material that makes the case easy to go in, but tougher to take out. This is a plus in my book because it makes the phone seem like it melts into the case. The edges of the case go over the screen making a bit of a "lip". This could be an issue if you use a screen protector, but don't quote me on it. The buttons can be pressed very easily and they aren't stiff at all. The buttons are the most easy to press out of any case I have ever used.
Protection
5/5
This case protects all aspects of the phone while still keeping a thin and light profile. The "lip" on the front of the case will definitely help to reduce the impact on the phone if dropped face first.
Final Verdict
5/5
This is probably the best case I've used so far for the Nexus 4. At $12.99 you get a high quality case made with premium materials. You can tell Diztronic took the time to make sure they got everything right. This case gives you maximum protection, looks, and feel while keeping your beloved Nexus 4 protected.

Good Video man....I ordered my case on the 5th so hopefully it will come in tomorrow...and it looks very good...Im using the clear tpu you had in the video now..but once again good video as it should help others who are thinking about buying the case and since watching the vid i know im gonna be very happy when mine arrives.

good review. I just received mine yesterday, and was extremely surprised on the quality of it for being 13 bucks.
I HATE using cases on my phone due to being a minimalist and enjoying the slim design, but this one just fits perfectly! I enjoy the added gloss coating around the lip that goes on the screen..it creates a nice blending effect with the screen.
I've read a few people mention that the power/volume buttons are a little stiff to press, but honestly, they must be weak af, or they got a defective case. The buttons are extremely responsive with the least amount of pressure.

Forgot to mention that the back of the cases doesn't attract ANY fingerprints. That's a big deal for me because I hate cleaning off the back of fingerprint covered cases.

How's the screen protector? Any cons?
Ordered mine couple days ago. Should be getting it tomorrow

Can you test it out with USB cables which use a thicker connector? I hate having to carry the OEM USB cable with me everywhere since that's the only one that fits with my case. I like have USB cables everywhere I go.

Thanks for the review, I was looking as this case for the last two days and I have heard nothing but great things. Just placed my order
Quick question, which screen protector (and/or Full Body) kit would you recommend with this case?
Thanks

As of right now, I haven't used any screen protectors. I have used Skinomi on other products and they're great.

I checked the video and you showed all the sides except the bottom where the usb port is. If you post a pic of it, he might be able to judge whether case opening is large enough or not.
Good review though. Still waiting for my n4, but I'm ordering this case so the phone won't be naked after it is unboxed.

Case is well worth it. Just got mine today. Watch the screen protector putting it on though.

i-Blason Clear Hard Snap-on Case

For those looking for cases, these are pics of my just received "i-Blason Clear Hard Snap-on Case for Google Nexus 4 Smart Phone (Crystal Clear)". Snaps on just fine, doesn't protect the top or bottom of the phone, but protects the back and sides just fine. I love knowing it's more protected than naked, but still able to show off the phone in all its glory and shiny back! Yeah, the plastic scratches easily, but how cares. It was just $10, so I might order more just for spares.
I got the case from here: http://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-SoftGel-Flexible-Frost-Clear/dp/B009Y0ZH6Y

Just noticed this case myself on Amazon, which cued me in that the Chinese are finally cranking these long awaited crystal clear cases en masse. Just ordered mine from here for $4: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251200525677?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
$10 is a rip for these cheaply made crystal clear cases that scratch if you so much as look at it sidewise. I am surprised that i-Blason didn't plaster their logo all over the back like they did with their TPU cases, at least there's that.

Every crystal case I've owned in the past for various devices....over time, stuff builds up between the case and the phone. It'll scratch either depending on the content of the "stuff".
Just make sure you clean it regularly.
Good thing i have a full body skin coming in the mail already.
Dang, that looks so much better than the clear S-wave TPU case, it's not even funny.

That's the correct link, but they have modified their listing. When I purchased mine, there was no "Pink". "Clear" was where "Pink" was. There is a link in this thread to an eBay listing that has the clear case much cheaper ($4).
I got the same case 2 weeks ago- so far, so good! First crystal clear case that I like
My clear case is now scratched up, but who gives a **** because I would rather it get messed up than my beautiful N4. I'll just order a cheap replacement down the road.

[Review] Exact Armor Case

Hey guys,
I just wanted to give a short review of a case I'm using, because I absolutely love it. It's the Exact Armor Case.
I bought it a week and a half ago, at the time it was only $3.95, at the time of me writing this it is $7.95 on Amazon. It's VERY similar to the Ionic Guardian Armor Case. There was some concern because I believe that on Amazon this case in the pictures doesn't show a cut out on the back for the speaker, but it does indeed have one.
It feels really good in the hand. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the dots on the back, but they ended up not being bad, and really make it so the phone doesn't slide out of your hand/off a table when you are holding it/sitting it down. I also have an i-Blason TPU case and I liked it but wanted something with a little bit more protection. I love the rubbery cover on the buttons on the Exact case, it makes it incredibly easy to push those buttons, which were more difficult to push on the i-Blason case in my opinion.
It feels really good and sturdy in the hand, and I love the way it feels. It doesn't add any more then the i-Blason case does when you're holding it in my opinion, except for on the corners, but you don't really notice those when holding it. All of the ports (mini USB and headphones) are accessible, however when I tried to plug a headphone jack from my car in it was a little too big and didn't fit in the hole cut in the case, but using a pair of headphones fits just fine.
I'm usually rough on phones, and so I wanted to get a sturdy case until hopefully an Otterbox comes out, which I will then buy and see if I like it more then this case. I HAVE dropped my phone twice over the past 72 hours or so using the case, and there was no damage to the phone. Once was getting out of my car and the phone fell onto gravel, and the second was just when I was pulling it out of my pocket I dropped it. (Yes, I'm clumsy, and I need to try harder to keep it safe.) There is no damage at all to the phone.
The front of the case does slide over the front, so you can sit the phone screen down and it doesn't touch whatever is underneath it. There is a small lip there, but so far it hasn't deterred me in anyway touching the screen/typing/swyping.
Please feel free to ask any questions, I'll be more then happy to answer. And before anyone asks, I just put on a Xtremeguard Screen Protector on literally 5 minutes before I took the pictures, so if the screen looks weird that's why, as it has to dry out and such.
If anyone asks, I can also talk about the i-Blason case a little.
I can't post links to the cases above because I don't have 10 posts yet :/ Just search on Amazon, you'll find them all, and after I post 10 times I'll come back and add the links in.

Nobody knows for sure but like most of the stuff in production you can probably expect it will be released before the end of January.
I think chances are you will get this one and then decided (unless you some how destroy it) that you don't want to shell out for an Otterbox.

Only there's no Otterbox case in production for the Nexus 4. Alas.
I got this case when it was $3.95 as well, great deal.
My TPU case was causing problems with my Skinomi screen protector but no problems with this case.
I currently have this case on... It sometimes lifts my xo skin screen protector so I have to push the screen protector down. For those who need even more protection there is a case on ebay called the Rugged Hybrid case, for 10-12 buck. The case is a beast but I'm waiting for someone to review on it before I purchase one.

Is the lift because of the slight inward flex around the edges that one gets when gripping the phone? or is it always in contact with the XO?

It's because of the inward flex around the edges when I grip it. It does seem like the case is always in contact with it, but doesn't pull up the protector unless I grip it tight or push on it.

Just received my case earlier today and I have to say it may be my favorite. I own the iBlason in black, Diztronic TPU in black as well as the Cruzerlite Androidified in white. The price vs. protection offered is astounding. I have to say it is very much comparable to my parents Ballistic Shell Gel Series case they both have on their Galaxy S III. The material isn't quite as "nice" as the Ballistic but for a $7 case, comparing it to a $30 from Ballistic or $15 on Amazon, it is certainly a no brainer.

Anyone want to comment on whether the case grips your pocket? That's the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on this over the diztronic you case.

Mine is fairly easy to pull out of my pocket. I don't wear super tight pants, but if I did it might be a problem. The rubbery part on the case is a lint magnet when you put it in your pocket but it isn't bad putting in or pulling out.

[Review]Acase dual layer Case

First, the case's full name is Acase Superleggera Pro Hybrid dual layer Case for LG Google Nexus 4.
Link on amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B4I2GJU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
FOr me, the seller shipped from IN, I dont know if they have any other branch. IAmazon said it would be delivered on Thursday, but I have received it on Wednesday.
I am not good at English, so I will use a lot of images to review this case. I also take picture the case with the Nexus 4 adapter, so you can compare the demensions.
The case fit perfectly to the phone.
The case has two layers which are seperated. One is soft and one is hard.
I have a back, front and body wet-protector, and this case haven't peel my protector yet. Hopefully it won't. However, with a soft cover, I dont think it will peel any corner off.
THe back of the hard part is smooth. Hence slippery or not, I think it depends on each person. For me, it's not slippery. But the fact is it's smooth, so it can fall off your hand if you're not careful.
Buttons can be used very easily.
I dont have a Wifi charger in case someone ask me for this.
Last thing, any grammar error?
EDIT and WARNING: Because this case has a ruber layer (it has two layers: the soft ruber one and the hard one), it collects dust very easy, especially when you put it in your jeans' pocket. This is no problem to me, with a fiber or tape, I can easily remove them.
I also confirm again, this case doesn't peel the corner of your screen protector off.
However, with the Ballistic one, it will peel your corner off very easily because the top and bottm of the ballistic aren't fixed. I have borrowed the Ballistic one from a friend and used it for two days, at the end of each day, I had to apply my screen protector again. If you need some images on the Ballistic one, tell me, I will do some for you.
Test.
Image part 3.
Looks like a good alternative to otter box. Thanks for sharing.

I also got this case in white, i absolutely love it except for the fact that it's white, and gets dirty if not taken care of. Other then that, it's awesome. I don't use it now, because i have lens for my phone camera, but when I did use it, i wasn't afraid of dropping it.

I'm still waiting for the Superleggera to arrive (7-10 days). As soon as I get it I'll update what I find, compared to Ballistic Shell Gel SG.
I tried the Ballistic one from a buddy of mine but I personally did not like it. The build quality is very good with the ballistic and it feels like it's going to protect the phone well. But from day to day usability it's not very practical.
The inside silicone piece of the Ballistic is very soft/loose. It fits the phone well but without the support of the hard shell it tends to come off. That is why some people complain that the top and bottom of this case is not very fitting, since there is no hard shell support there.
The soft silicone with the protruding corners of the case sometimes gets stuck taking in/out of pant pockets.
In the YouTube reviews and the pictures by OP by the look of the Superleggera, the silicone seems stiffer than the Ballistic and the hard shell supports all four sides, hence more form fitting than the Ballistic and should not have any pocket issue.

How slippery is this case? I'm assuming the hard case (outer cover) is, but not the inside tpu bit. Is that true? So can I remove the hard case and expose the tpu while setting it on an uneven surface?

Otterbox Commuter or Cygnett Workmate Evolution?

Hi
I'm just looking for some advice.
I'm using a Spigen Slim Armour currently and whilst I love the case I find it's a little bit slippery and the lip on the front is a little too shallow for my liking.
I cant decide whether to get an Otterbox Commuter or Cygnett Workmate. I've never owned cases from either but Otterbox is a brand name I recognise.
I like the workmates protection --- the drop test is convincing but there are reports about the charging port being too small.
The otterbox looks like it might be a bit slippery and may not offer the same protection.
Any advice welcome!
Im using an Otterbox Commuter right now, it's not that slippery though but kinda bulky compared to Spigen..

Thanks I happy with a bit of extra bulk for the extra protection. The spigen is very stylish but I'm not sure how well it will strand up to being dropped.. and it's pretty slippery!!
If I were you I'd go with the workmate. But I personally use the UAG navigator case.

I currently use an otterbox commuter. I think for the protection it offers it's not that bulky.
It still easily fits in the breast pocket of my military uniform without being all that noticeable.
Plus otterbox has awesome customer service and warranty. I've gotten several brand new cases from them over the years when port covers broke off or if I had other issues with the case.

No need to worry. Yes, the charging port is too small (narrow) for the stock S4 charger, but one sharp knife and five minutes later... problem solved.
I received my Workmate Evolution earlier this week, and got my S4 this morning. Sure enough, the charging port was too narrow. I took a sharp knife and raked it across the upper and lower surfaces of the case's port, holding the blade at a 90° angle to the surface. Thus, abrading it rather than cutting it. Took about five minutes.
In Cygnett's defense, the OEM charger plug is much bigger than any other micro USB cable plug I own.
Hours into owning the phone, I can say I'm happy with both it and the Cygnett case.

+1 for otterbox.
I've been using it since iphone 4.
I recall dropping it from 6 feet on concrete.
The corner of hard shell broke but my iphone was flawless. They also sent me a replacement case and honoured on their lifetime warranty policy.
As for s4 commuter, I personally find it a 'little' slippery but not as much as a naked s4.

I absolutely love both Otterbox and Cygnett. In the past, I've had issues with Otterbox's silicone warping out of shape. The new one on my wife's HTC One (which is identical to the one I tested on my S4 earlier) is way better than the older versions. Went with Cygnett this time purely based on aesthetics as I think the Cygnett looks wayyyyyy better.
The main differences in protection are that the commuter cases have the hard polycarbonate closer to the edges, while cygnett offers a wider tpu layer. The lip above the screen on the workmate is slightly higher than that of the Commuter. Cygnett's TPU is harder though I can't offer an opinion on if its better or worse (though it means the fit on the Cygnett is slightly better, espcially around the sections where the hard bits clamp around the soft bits). I think the hard shell is thinner but the TPU thicker on the workmate
Usage wise, the Cygnett is slightly grippier than the otterbox. The button presses slightly less mushy. The edge of the lip on the front is sharper and you'll notice it though it's not uncomfortable. I like the fact that the ports are uncovered, but the reports are right. The hole for the USB port is too narrow. I can't fit the original cable in, however it's not a deal breaker for me as I have 3 other cables and chargers. Nothing a sharp hobby knife can't fix though.
To be honest, unless the sharper edge on the front lip or usb port hole size are deal breakers, I would recommend the Cygnett. That being said, both are pretty good cases, and you can't go wrong with either when it comes to protection.

Thanks.. I'm sorry it doesn't fit. I think I read on xda that they were changing the design.

i bought the WorkMate over the weekend. love the case.
http://www.frys.com/product/7651437?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
super tough bounced across the floor a few times already and no scuffs or anything removes easy to change out the battery and/or SD card
Hey figsalan101,
Nick here form Cygnett, mate.
Sorry to hear about that the charger port isn't lining up correctly with the WorkMate Evolution, we have had a few reports of this happening.
The issue of the charging port has been fixed and all of the cases we are introducing into the market now are working correctly. You entitled to a refund or exchange at the point of purchase if you'd like to.
Regards,
Nick
I went for the black Cygnett Workmate Evolution in the end and love it - thanks for the advice.
The ports are all correct - I bought it directly from Cygnett's website and I guess they have fixed the issues with the earlier ones.
The buttons are still a little stiff even after a couple of weeks use.. but it's a small price to pay for the protection.
I have dropped it once already when getting out of my car. It bounced on my driveway a couple of time without any visible damage.
I still like my Spigen Neo Hybrid, Slim Armour and UAG Scout but none offer the protection I need at work... and excellent grip.

Ringke Fusion ($13.99) vs Official Bumper ($12.95)

I was wondering which case is better than the other?
I'm looking to keep the nexus 4 slim, sexy, and functional.
I narrowed it down to these two cases because of the clicky tactile feels (on the fusion revision) and the original bumper while maintaining slimness.
I got the bumper a week after I received my phone. Well, not the official one, but a replica of the LG one that's sold in the Play Store. The one I received off Amazon seemed fine, but after about a week of normal use, 2 cracks appeared - one on the bottom where the USB is, and the other on the power button.
I think that they appeared because of plugging in the phone and clicking the power button turning it on and off. The material (metal-looking plastic) that surrounds the bumper is flimsy on it's own, and with a certain amount of pressure and heat from the phone, it's prone to cracking.
If you Google around you'll find that a lot of people have had the same problem with the official one. I bought the same bumper for my friend too, but his is holding up well so far, so I'm not sure. The bumper seemed to have a tighter fit on his N4 whereas mine felt a little loose. He has been using it for a couple months as his was the first wave of N4 that were shipped out. I just got mine a little less than a month ago.
Switched over to the Ringke Fusion based on the number of excellent reviews it got both on XDA and Amazon. Took about a week to get here and because it is the revision, the buttons are clicky and give a good feedback. The case also doesn't add much bulk at all. While I do like the heft of carrying around the phone naked, the glass panels scare me. I never used cases on my old phones, but then again, they were plastic and metal. They sure could take a hit!
The Fusion makes the N4 feel more solid as it is, and it works well with wireless chargers. The only complaint I have about it is the back clear plastic tends to dirty quite easily, with scuffs, fingerprints. But then again, who takes time out of their day to gander at the back of the phone. Sure it's pretty but you'll be spending more of your time messing around with the front.
Where'd you find the official bumper for 13?

I remember when i bought my N4, I kept buying different bumpers because either they were too tight [messed up my screen protector], too bulky or did not protect my phone good enough. In January, I bought Ringke Fusion; been using it since then . Its not one of those cheap bumpers, you will definitely feel the quality. Its fits the phone very well and you wont feel the size of it in your hand or in your pocket.

It's a replica. The real ones are sold on the play store. If it says official elsewhere and is less than the price you would normally pay, chances are it's not official. Anyone can say it's official but it isn't.

I got both . Currently sporting the white OEM bumper. Before that I sported the Ringke Fusion. I will continue using the Fusion when I travel to like Disney lol.

Same. I got the fusion and the white OEM bumper.
To the OP: if you haven't seen it yet, the poetic bumpers are pretty good.
Stopped using my white OEM one cause it turned yellow on the sides and can't clean it no matter what I try.

I got ringke fusion, official bumper, the white look alike of fusion and poetic. I wanna use my fusion but my tempered glass doesn't fit well with it. I'll rather go with the fusion because of its solid feeling but the bumper is good.
SENT FROM MY RAGING NEXUS⁴ ?
I got the Ringke Fusion. IT shows fingerprints REALLY bad - much worse than the back glass - and the fingerprints aren't easy to clean off unless you use water. I ended up taking it off and using the bumper I got free before finding another case.

Fingerprints to me don't show as bad when I put my dbrand skin on. I hardly notice any unless I view the back at an angle.

We talking about regular prints..? Cuz my hands are always clean, and while it definitely attract prints, a quick swipe from my t-shirt takes them right off.

So the Google bumper on amazon is fake and the fusion case attracts a butt load of finger prints
I see that most people tell me that they are using bumper instead... What bumper? Poetic?

LOL I would personally get the Fusion, and yes, most bumpers online are replicas even if they are in LG packaging. The normal bumpers cost about 20bux (USD) so that's a good gauge in authentic or not.
There's a thread somewhere comparing the packaging but basically, if there's a holo sticker on the back, mine is square that reads "Original accessories by LG".
GL
Bumper
Wider
Looks better
Less protection
Ringke
Better protection
Lets you create custom designs to insert behind the plastic
horrible protruding creases on the back of the case. - rough to the touch
picks up fingerprints and dust way too easily.
I use bumper for everyday use and if i'm going to be somewhere outside for a long while where i won't have a place to put my phone safely away i use the ringke.

Does the Ringke Fusion case fit properly with a dbrand skin on? Was looking on getting the case but was not sure if it would fit on, as I have a dbrand carbon skin on the back.

Yes it fits fine. I have a custom and that's technically two skins of thickness in my areas and fits fine.
