Will this battery mod work ? - HTC Desire S

Hello,
please, will this batt. mod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672464
work with desire S running ICS RUU ?

If your system files are deodexed, then yes, flash in recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. If not, no.

How to find out whether my files are deodexed. I have installed ics by mirnoks way.

Is that the way with the PG88IMG.zip? Then I'm fairly sure your system is not deodexed.

Yes, that way.
Anyway, i have installed some other mod, but with coloured battery, not black white. It's working, but want white ;]

You could always take a nandroid backup, try flashing the battery mod and if it breaks anything restore the backup.

[Q] How can I remove a mod?

Hello
I flashed the 1% battery mod and it's screwing up my phone. I did a factory restore but the mod is still there how do I remove it? (I didn't make backup.. sorry I'm new to this.)
Thanks for your help
Either flash your nandroid backup (hope you made one) or try Trickdroid's tweak pack.

Well next time always make a nandroid backup just in case.
If you're running a custom ROM you can flash that ROM again.
Usually with a mod like that it's in the modification is in the framework so factory reset doesn't do anything except wipe your user's data.

My Android is looping during the boot

Hi,
I tried to modify the build.prop file of my LG Optimus 2X to simply disable the animation during the boot. It didn't really worked well because my cellphone is now looping during the boot. I think I saved the build.prop on my sdcard but now I don't know what to do...! I tried to hard reset and wipe date, but it's still no booting. I have clockwork mod instal.
Thank you!

Well, first, I'd like to ask if you have a CWM backup of your system before you edited your build.prop? I assume that since you can wipe the data, you can reach CWM. If you can and have a backup, try recovering that backup and see if that works. If you do not, then you can always try to find an RUU (ROM update utility) that should return your phone to an unrooted, stock ROM. I don't know of any other options, all I can say now is become best friends with that search bar up there.
Hope you manage to get your phone back. :fingers-crossed:
revert to stock, oh just reflash whatever custom ROM you have been using (if you have any), you should be able to mount SD card from CWM and copy your ROM in there and flash away. I am under the assumption that since you were doing your DIY mods there, you should have knowledge of flashing back to stock or Custom Roms of choice. Good luck.

That it is. Half of the time when helping people out, that is my starting point I'm really new to this, but know my way around a search engine and how to read
Boot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, and flash the same ROM you were already using

I guess you might have deleted some other important files along with those pre-installed apps which is causing bootloop or not starting at all. So taking backup at this state is useless. Only reflashing a fresh stock ROM is good for getting it revived.

Alternative Option:No Noob [email protected]
Push the apps which you deleted back to their positions,
Via adb commanda to their location,
Hit Hit THANKS!!! If And Only If I Helped You
Reflash with stock rom.
I guess thats the only way to recover from boot loop.
Why don't you try custom ROM instead? Way better than stock ROM. If you don't want custom ROMs, I would suggest a clean install of stock ROM, don't attempt to modify.

A small question Flashing rom/mods.

When we flash a mod or zip file [for eg. DSP manager] through CWM. And if it is not working on the rom how do we revert back to the stock rooted rom?
1. Just go into CWM recovery and restore Nand backup [no wiping anything]
2. Wiping dalvik & cache and reboot phone [no need to restore via backup]
3. Wiping AND Restoring via CWM
4. Or any other way to remove the mod [flashed zip] without restoring nand backup.
Please specify which things we have to wipe .
I am asking this question coz its really a pain to restore backup all the time if the mod [zip file] doesnt work with the rom. Thanks!
Can you try this one?
See the folders in that zip file you flashed. See the paths of different files inside it and delete it.
Like if you flashed dsp manager. It has dspmaneger.apk in that file under system/app folder and other updater scripts.
So you can just delete dspmaneger.apk from system/app from root of your device's storage. Same with other files too.

Thanks for ur reply..But i was later going to flash ACID mod...So the dev told me to get back to stock and then flash it.
If i could just remove the DSP manager like u said and flash acid rom..Then why is the dev of acid mod asking me to get back to stock?
If I have already installed Acid Audio Engine, should I just flash your mod over it, or should I go back to stock and then flash it?
Go back to stock and flash. Never mix soundmods

anyone?
Hey sorry for not replying.
There is no system where you uninstall the mods unlike you do with apps.
The method i stated above should work after clearing cache etc. But if the auther of the mod instruct you to use that on stock rom then please follow his instuctions

Mods are different and I don't know about what you installed, but it's certainly safest to restore to stock and then try the different one - that way you don't have unexpected "pieces" hanging around that may conflict with the new one.
When I restore a backup, I treat it like a completely new ROM, I wipe everything (after all, it's going to restore everything) and then hit "restore".

[Q] Re-flasing cromi-x

Yo. If I want to re-flash the same rom I'm currently running to make a singel change, lets say, change the boot animaton/disable fsync/choose different apps/change from deodex to odex/so on, do I simply boot to recovery and flash it again and make thoose changes? Something I should do before/after?
I'm running 4.2.1, CROMi-X 4.6.9 - 10.6.1.14.8/WW DEODEX.

You need to backup your current system first if something is going wrong. Since you are coming in the same rom, you want to wipe dalvik and cache and you should be fine. Good luck.. :fingers-crossed:

I've done this before too. Very easy, but the backup is imperative just in case something awry happens. Make sure the battery is charged enough also IMO!
Just to be sure, when you say backup, what do you mean? I have backed up everything with titanium backup and uploaded it to dropbox, plus I made a backup in TWRP. Also known as nandroid... right?

Yes, you are correct.. :good:
Just flash liver the top no wipes required but you can do dalvik if you want to keep it clean.
I do a backup when updating but no harm having a recent nandroid to restore just in case.
