[Q] don't know where to start - HTC Sensation

hi guys, as the title says...
a client booked in a HTC Sensation that's stuck on the start up screen. as far as i can tell, they've tried to load some or other software to it.
i don't know if it's been rooted or anything like that, but i'd like to restore to to it's previos state. if you could be of assistance, it would be greatly appreciated
i've added a few pics to show exactly what i'm dealing with here

First way: wipe data (factory reset), wipe cache, advanced - wipe dalvik cache
then reboot. This start up may take 5-10 minutes. if not loading again:
Second way - flashing any rom, but I doubt how - because the phone is s-on and there is cwm not 4ext recovery on it. So maybe try wire trick to get s-off: http://unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm

Can you get the CID and flash a compatible RUU?

this is what you need
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
in a few steps:
flash 4ext recovery(step 2)
put the rom in the root of sdcard
enable smartflash from recovery
flash the rom
done and enjoy

[Q] First time flashing NS i9023 (serious flasher from SGS,SGS2)

Hey!
First let me say that I know all about flashing SGS and SGS2. Im a proud owner of SGS1 from day 1.
Last week I decided to finally flash my brothers i9023 so I flashed stock 4.0.3 with stock recovery. Then we wanted to flash some XDA stuff and I don't understand these guides...
I found one guide where you get superuser access with one click and usb cable, I did that, then I flashed CWM through Rom manager and flashed 4.0.4 from evilisto (v1.1) and it worked. Now I'm trying to flash some others, like nuhetri reloaded or pixel rom and I'm always getting stuck at boot animation. It just keeps "working" and nothing happens for 5+ minutes.
What am I doing wrong? Please help!
Best Regards
Luka
(in general)in recovery wipe data factory reset, format cache, davlik cache, system, boot. then flash new rom.
with nuhetri i think there is a bug where your not supposed to wipe data coming from another rom only davlik cache and cache then flash nuhetri

I did all that before... Im going to redownload, maybe its corrupted but I doubt it. Is it maybe because I have locked bootloader or something? Beacause I didnt use that long guide with "android SDK" in General, but some other very quick guide. Just plug USB, enable debugging and run some script and thats it.

do yourself a favor, do it the right way the first time and save yourself headaches in the future. its not hard. fastboot oem unlock(bootloader), flash a custom recovery, flash a custom rom(and gapps) via the recovery, then boot up. thats it.
If you are more of a visual type of guy I suggest going on YouTube and search "zedomax". He has some really simple videos on how to root your nexus s, he has a couple videos on how to root but make sure its for a GSM nexus.
Simms got all in a simply way.
Unlock boot loader
Install or flash cwm
install the new stuff from SD card
reboot
Can anyone tell me or please provide a link to what unlocking bootloader does please.
Best Regards
Excuse my ignorance, I'm pretty new to this and I might not be of any help at all... but is it even possible to flash a custom recovery without unlocking the bootloader on the Nexus S?
I followed the instructions found on the NexusShacks.com website (How to root Nexus S or Nexus S 4G on ICS or Gingerbread) without any issues at all (sorry, can't post links due to low postcount :/)
No problems for me, I had zero experience with this sort of stuff but I have flashed a new ROM a every few days now without any issues whatsoever.

Help... CyanogenMod 10 Jellybean 4.1.2

Hi everyone, I tried the rom on this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009 and so far everything is great, I installed GAPPS... I think... I'm kind of a noob :/
Anyway everytime I open the Play Store it just closes in a nano second! And when I open the internet browser or other apps like that it says [Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped]
I used the HTC Sensation 4G AIO kit by Hasoon 2000 v2.0 for everything.
Can anyone please help me
you haven't done full wipe ..before flashing the ROM i think
go to recovery ...and do full wipe
if CWM recovery -> wipe->factory reset + wipe cache + wipe dalvik
if 4EXT recovery ->wipe/format->format everything except sdcard
then flash the ROm and then gaaps
that will do
btw when you do full wipe ..you lose all data of the phone ..apps/messages/call logs etc etc

[Q] Questions regarding liquidsmooth

Hi all,
Over the past few days I have been using this splendid ROM, however something went wrong during the flashing of the ROM or I missed something, because all of my apps keep crashing and my stock browser app crashes everytime I use it. And I also get random reboots. I think it's the boot.img, but i'm tired of trying
I installed this rom in the Following order:
1. Wipe cache
2. Factory reset
3. Wipe dalvik cache
4. Flash the ROM
5. Rebooted into fastboot
6. Fasboot flash boot boot.img
And I also tried it in this order:
1. Fasboot flash boot boot.img
2. Wipe cache
3. Factory reset
4. Wipe dalvik cache
5. Flash the ROM
6. Reboot
What am I doing wrong here?
----------------------------------------------------------------
Adding some extra info just incase:
I came from stock sense 4.1+ android 4.1.1
Current device info:
UNLOCKED
S-ON
Hboot version 2.15.0000
Radio 1.11.50.05.28
I also tried redownloading the zip, but got the same result
At last i'm wondering if there are any specific kernels available for this ROM, and which 1 you guys recommend.
Thanks in advance!
In TWRP you want to factory reset then wipe system and then flash the rom and see if that works for you.

Ok ty, will try and see if that will sort it all out
Sadly, same story... :crying::crying::crying::crying: Is installation of the rom supposed to happen in 30 seconds?

Em not sure but sounds a bit to quick. Get yourself 2.3.3.0 of TWRP and try with that and if its still being quick then do the wipes like I said but reboot but back into the recovery then flash the rom.
nevermind cheered too early... Seriously something is corrupting my phone
Maybe you have a bad download, try redownloading and flash.

[Q] Going JellyBean

Hello people of the internet,
A while ago i decide to change the software on my phone to cyanogenmod 9.
After a lot of reading, failing and asking I finally succeeded with the whole operation.
I now would like to upgrade to a newer version of android and preferably while doing that increase battery life.
The following ROM looks good to me and I will try to install it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115520
It says firmware 3.32/3.33. is required.
I don't know how to check what firmware version I have.
Where can I see this?
Maybe I have overlooked it so here is some information:
-bootloader
=JuopunutBear=
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1111
Also EXT4 is installed as recovery.
android version 4.0.4
kernelversion 3.0.36-alotofothernumbersandletters
cyanogenmod-version 9.1.0-pyramid
What changes should I make to get results?

from bootloader connect the device to pc(in the hboot screen it should say fastboot usb)
open a cmd window in the folder where you have adb and fastboot files and do this command
fastboot getvar version main
in any case if you have 3.32 or 3.33 you can flash the rom and any rom

Hi,
You do not need to change anything.
Just make a nandroid, and flash the new ROM.
If you feel that you must do something, then , :
Code:
fastboot getvar all
This will probably show that you are on 3.32 firmware, which is fine to run the new ROM.

Is a nandroid a backup?
I've made a normal backup using 4EXT recovery touch.
Will this make it possible to reverse everything when the installing of the new ROM doesn't work out?
And if I install the new ROM will I keep all my current data and apps?

yes
and yes it will reverse eveything back
you can restore your data and apps from recovery
just go to restore->advanced restore->data
Installation
1: If you are coming from another ROM do a full wipe
1a: if this is just an update to THIS ROM BASE you can simply wipe cache and dalvik cache
2: Flash gapps (download below)
3: Reboot
3b: If you want to make changes to the CPU/GPU clock speeds, I/O, or CPU governor settings, edit /system/etc/init.d/99kernel (outlined below)
4: Enjoy CyanogenMod 10.1

this is the described installation from the mod.
step 1a is not the case.
step 1 : What is a full wipe and how do I perform it?
4EXT shows these options in the wipe / format menu
wipe dat/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe cache + dalvik
wipe dalvik cache
wipe battery stats
format system
format data
format boot
format all partitions (except sdcard)
format sdcard
is a full wipe on of these or a combination of them?
and why do i need step 2? when I can keep all my old apps?

Hi,
All you need is:
"format all partitions (except sdcard)"
Gapps is Google Apps.
If you want gmail , maps etc,you need this.
You can download what you want from the market as well.
All your old apps and data will get deleted when you format.
Use Titanium Backup to save the data.
Re-install the apps on the new ROM,then re-install the data from TB
DO NOT RESTORE SYSTEM DATA.

[Help] Flashing ViperSV_1.5.0 on my HTC ONE SV

So in order this is how i Flash the ViperSV_1.5.0 Rom
1.Go into recovery (TWRP) go to Wipe do a factory reset and then go to advance Wipe Check all the boxes and Wipe.
2. I then go to Mount then Mount USB Storage and place the ViperSV_1.5.0.zip on my SD
3. I the go to install i select ViperSV_1.5.0.zip
4.The setting i choose Perform a full wipe, I don't select DeSense mod, I don't remove any apps and don't select keyboard.
5. The flash starts Its Checks Model ID(Success), It executes Full wipe , Says writing data the writing system, at writing system its stops at 83.00% (Extract:/system/media../weather_fog_night.mp4)
Sometimes its stops at different weather files but has never gone past 83.00%
I went to sleep and when i woke up it was stuck on the TWRP recovery loading screen so i took out the battery and tried a reboot but it just went to the quietly brilliant screen and stuck there, im guessing because the ROM didn't flash correctly and there isn't an OS
Please if you have a fix or think there is a fix reply i need of help
Will this get me back to stock rom if Flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734434
I have boost mobile
SO i go t back to stock but the WIfi dosent work is there a link to a ota for stock
Your phone is from boost and you tried to flash vipersv?
There are different partition layouts between european and boost roms. So it seems, it has some firmware parts overwritten.
Is there a way to fix the Wifi Problem
I don't really know, because i don't know what partitions are overwritten.
Maybe a RUU would help you.
But i guess you need to downgrade hboot first. And therefor you need S-Off.
Is there somthing i can do to help
From my side i can't do much. Try to get S-off. If you succeed, the first step is done.
