I thought of making a poll to see what our fellow SLians feel about our developers' capability.
Do you feel that our SL developers (Dhiru, Adi, etc) will be able to develop a working kernel 3.x, now that hillbeast has been forced to quit our device?

Check out this commit on my github https://github.com/jomeister15/Isotope/commit/24183f930e5d89d2091d925a3557453f2d257e6e if you're working on fixing signal. I posted this on Raver's rom as well, but this is how I enabled signal on my AOSP build.

Don't ask for ETA. Ever.
Personally, me and a couple devs sat down and thought about starting a build.
We've got a half working kernel, but posts like "eta" always make us feel like dropping the project. It's extremely annoying.

How? If anything that would make me happy that people are excited and curious for the build to come out. Thats what posts are for tbh. To read and ask questions. If it bothers you so much I would just ignore the threads and work. I'm not trying to be rude but I just don't see why people being curious would upset somebody so much they want to drop all their hardwork. Anyways glad for the hard work you all are doing. Keep it up. A lot of people are excited and curious, nothing to get annoyed about.

It's just an etiquette thing towards devs. It's just impolite especially because it'll be out when it's out.

Evanizer, buddy, developers dont like "eta's" because if they answer to one, another pops up asking the same question, plus people use that as a definate and start complaining when its not delivered. When the time is right the developers will give us news, they are giving the most important asset to this community...their time.
All we can do , is give them support and now and again some support ...GOOD LUCK DEVELOPERS!!

Yea actually i was silently waiting for a week now. I cant make any move coz i dont want to start a ruckus about this again. But hows that, hows the phone? Is it totally lost now and will forever be gone? Its sad but i think we should accept. But remember. Read my Signature.
Without the kernel 3.x and a stable ics/jb I feel like I am living in an isolated corner while the world moves on..now,I don't blame the devs/ anyone but I wish things were better..

i don't believe that guy. he sounds like a scammer, asking for money first before doing anything. i also don't believe such machine that he claims exists.
in this community, devs will do their thing then upload it here without asking for mandatory donations from other members. it is the members decision if they will donate or not. another thing, most of the time, the members will ask a developer to develop a kernel/rom/etc and will provide him a phone, not the other way around. it is very unusual for an unknown developer to ask for a phone and money in the first place.

Well development is slow but it isn't dead. Hillbeast and Moikop are working on kernel 3.4. Marcelusbe found job in other country, so maybe after few months he will continue his work.

Thanks but following the threads i was aware of these news. The reason of my post was that due to the rarity of the hw of our phone and the very few developers still working on it and looking at the development going on on other phones my impression is that we cannot expect too much in the future. Hope i am wrong
Unfortunately, the phone is 'old'.
I have an i5801 until today, and I stop to use, and the development was one of the reasons. Is great phone, it is. But the most ROMs that we have (CM9, CM10), doesn't connect with the camera, and when does, you can't see what are you taking because of the black image. Also have freeze lag's all the time because of the memory.
I don't blame the developers, they did an AWESOME work, but is time to move on. The new systems are to heavy for our i5800.

That's true I think that untill kernel 3.4.x is ready we can not expect a fully working cm9 or cm10 and IF they get everything working with kernel 3.4.x it will be more stable i think... But still the developers do a great work I only would say keep it up

I can just say 1 thing, that if samsung ever takes interest in xda, we would have had a stable ics by now
But with all the hard work that all the developer are doing here, our phone has definitely become more worthy than the cost at which we all got in the past

I am truly sorry if my post caused the perception of disrespect towards the developers. I absolutely appreciate the amazing work done by all the developers in keeping this phone uptodate as possible. Even if it is not my everyday phone I am still a proud owner of the GT-I5800 and I am still using it. I am very anxious so to see it still "efficient" :good:. As correctly stated by MicroGeek i was asking more expert members than me to confirm or disregard my feeeling of "end of the game" situation. Apologies if I hurted somebody's feeling. And even if we manage to fully port everything, its not great because of a small screen; the phone's main weakness and my only regret for buying it.
