[Q] Samsung GT-i9220 does not get 3g and CWM won't run on 3e recovery - General Questions and Answers

I have a Samsung GT-i9220 with model # e1108_v73_jbaol1g18 running Android 4.0.9. It has Android Recovery 3e. The phone is rooted and has CWM and Mobile Odin installed but can't use either to update radio file, I cannot access 3g on T-Mobile or AT&T. I keep getting "Restricted access changed" I need a simple way to revert my Android Recovery System to 2e and then be able to use CWM. I have been searching for 3 days all over the XDA and every where else and have not found a straightforward fix. It is possible, somebody please assist me!!
How do I revert to 2e? Do I need to install a ROM or flash the phone so it shows as a model that is recognized like i9220 or N7000?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Tony
Day 4, what!
Added Root Explorer, still can't wipe the 3e from phone to use 3e mod or 2e. What is the file name of the Android Recovery System, I must be overlooking it?

[Q] How get Lates Version CWM recovery ?

Hi guys anyone can help me get the latest version Clockwordmod recovery for the rooting process? Please help, thanks ..
well if i understand your ? your looking to root your phone ? correct? if so you will need to root your phone first once your phone is rooted you can download rommanager from android market and it will download the latest avalible clockworkmod recovery to your device
any ? just inbox me
just look for a guide on how to root like the guy above said. what phone do you have? you may also want to look at TWRP as your recovery manager. i was having some issues with clockwork with my evo3d, so i decided to gove TWRP a try. when it comes to clockwork, be careful about the newest version. for some reason my 3d refused to work with anything later than CW 4.0.4 or something like that... odd anyway just makesure you can reflash the old version if you update
If you are trying to port CWM to your device, you can just get CyanogenMod source code from github. It contains the latest CWM source.

[Q] (Status 7) Perhaps a unique problem, China Mobile

Hello you brilliant people! I haven't been on here in some time. I recently move to China and brought along my Galaxy S3 i-535. It's been some time since I've worked with flashing custom ROMs and never tried it on the S3 until I came here. I am able to root, unlock the boot loader, and install CWM. However, whenever I try and flash any ROM I get the ever infuriating (Status 7) assert. Meaning that I have the incorrect ROM, correct? But I have double, triple, and quadruple checked and I have the correct ROM. Here are the pertinent details:
=============================================================
-Samsung Galaxy S3 I-535
-Originally a Verizon phone (Screw VZW!)
-Currently on the ChinaMobile network with a Chinese SIM card
-CWM v6.0.2.3
-And I'm currently on Android 4.1.2
-Baseband Ver.: I535VRBMB1
-Kernal Ver.: 3.0.31-861013 (not sure if useful, but maybe)
=============================================================
Here is the my specific question. ##Could I be receiving the Status 7 assert due to the different SIM card/network??##
I've tried removing the assert from the updater-script file, but no luck. I changed almost a year ago, so the old SIM card is long lost and finding a VZW SIM here would be nearly impossible.
I believe my CWM version is new enough.
If this is the case, any suggestions on where to go next? Any developer/website that would work with China Mobile is in Chinese, and my Chinese is VERY poor.
I need to update my phone to receive data, so they say, but I'm not sure how high I have to update. I was trying to avoid 4.3 because of the locked bootloader. But I think I can find a ROM for 4.3 or 4.4 that doesn't force me to take the locked boot loader? Am I correct in my thinking. Yes I have been researching, I just want to make sure I'm right.
Any useful assistance will be rewarded with my endless gratitude and kind thoughts!!!
You want to upgrade your CWM to 6.0.4.5 then flash your roms from there. If you're using Rom Manager, you can upgrade from within the app itself. Alternatively, you can download the CWM 6.0.4.5 recovery IMG file from the official CWM website, download "Flashify" from the Play Store then install the CWM 6.0.4.5. recovery img file using Flashify.
WOot woot!!!!

[Completed] [Q] Help with installing danvdh's Google play edition custom ROM for JFLTEATT

Hi.. I'm sorry for the long post, but I've been trying to install a nice Google Play Edition ROM on my phone for 2 days now and I'm hitting dead-end after dead-end. I'm just so tired and frustrated!! :crying:
I have rooted my At&T Galaxy S4 (NC1) using Geohot's Towelroot.
I then installed the TWRP app off the Play Store and used it to "Install TWRP".
At this point, when I tried to create a backup by rebooting to recovery, the phone reboots and it gets stuck with the following message (paraphrasing a bit):
"Unable to perform normal boot. Using ODIN.. Downloading.. Do not turn off device"
I then used the "Home+Vol dwn+Power" combo to reboot back into the stock ROM.
At this point I read about Loki and having to bypass the bootloader.
So I downloaded the loki_tool file from https://github.com/djrbliss/loki and followed the instructions there to create the aboot.img. However, when I tried to created the .lok file from a TWRP 2.8.0.1 open recovery image, it said "Failed to find function to patch". (For this step I tried with both ADB and a terminal emulator on my phone).
On Danvdh's forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353, he simply says
"I only support the latest TWRP recovery, AT&T users must loki after flashing
-Full wipe
-Flash ROM
-Reboot"
But I'm not even able to boot into TWRP recovery!!
I don't know what the fundamental problem is and trying to wade through the ocean of information out there looking for a solution is just too exhausting when I don't even know the problem!
PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks in advance!:fingers-crossed:

[Q] Rooting issue!!!

I have a Samsung galaxy Tab2 p3100,
Few dayz back I tried to install a custom rom in it thru CWM, but it was unsuccessfull.
Then I installed back that stock rom that I had backup.
Then I formatted my tab few times.
Then it shows some errorr;!!.
Then I used my phone, but when I opened SuperSU,
It is showing "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it,This is a problem"
So I flashed again that rooting file thru odin 3 times,
but still itz showing the same error.
So Dev's I kindly request u guyz to provide any solution to this problem.
Its really freaking me out .
Plzzz help me Guyszz....
You may need to flash a stock firmware, something may be borked in system, by updating your firmware and updating your custom recovery it will probably fix issue . After wards root update binary again and flash roms.
Pp.
any other solutions Bro
If something is borked due to a bad flash or bad or wrong download the only way to fix it is to reflash original stock firmware in order to fix it. You then start all over again.
I keep a folder on my pc with all the stuff I need incase this happens.
Pp.
Flash a custom recovery. Download latest SuperSU zip from SuperSu thread and flash in recovery

That's because you don't have TWRP installed on your phone. You're looking at the stock Android recovery, which can only install official updates. This is the best advice that I can give you. If you have to ask why the stock recovery is not flashing zips, and doesn't look like TWRP, then you should not be attempting to flash anything. Please read up on custom recoveries, and the rooting process, and make sure that you fully understand what you're doing before you try to modify your phone. I hate seeing anyone turn their device into a brick, which is what will happen if you don't know what you're doing. I can't stress this enough.
But when I install Twrp it keeps showing me that message and don't let me install nothing
