The HTC One X has a LCD, a liquid crystal display. The black is the liquid moving around. If it cracks the black will leak under the surface like ink. Stop pressing so hard. I think all lcd screens do this if you press hard enough.
Well this didnt happen on desire, lg nitro which has lcd
This phone is designed differently, the LCD is fused to the digitizer so there is no space between them
So when you're pressing you're actually pressing through the digitizer onto the screen

I noticed that i have some dead pixels... and when i say some.. i mean LOTS !!!!!! i took an app called "Dead Pixels" and on black screen... my screen is full of little white dots.. should i go to replace my phone ??
Are you sure it's not dust ? Dead pixels don't light up at all, they are black.
I have my Desire exchanged at warranty because I got dust under the screen.

Desire S only comes with AMOLED? I thought dead pixles only appear with SLCD
Could be stuck pixels, dead pixels are black.
Also the desire s has a S-LCD screen not a AMOLED screen.
Why not upload a picture?
Sent from my Desire S using XDA Premium App
i can't upload a picture cause the dots are very small... just 2 of them are bigger... the thing is that they are white on black screen and on white screen they kinda disturb the white... i tried that app with pixel fix.. and they are still there
maybe i should go at my provider with the phone and they should change it :|
hmm, i got a scratchy line too that shines in RED when the background is white...... I always thought those were dead pixels...
I also have couple of pixels that shines light blue when the screen is black, didn't know about them until I tried "Dead Pixels" app, it really doesn't bother me.
It dust guys, not dead or stuck pixels. I've exchanged mine once.
Sensation has the same problem due to unibody chasis design. I know it's stupid but what can we do...
I feel like the Desire S is the first phone I've had that doesn't have dead pixels.

U tried the app "Dead Pixel Finder" ??
Sry for bringing this thread up again... but i am at my second Desire S and i would like some one to help.. cause i wanna know if all the phones has the same display issue.. or if it is a issue..
So.. Can some1 download the app "Dead Pixel Test" and in a dark room put the black screen and when u have the display straight to your eyes.. do you see tiny tiny white dots and many of them ?? i wanna know if i should go back to orange and send it to service
I just got my replacement phone today and everything on it is perfect except that it had some light bleed at the bottom under the capacitive buttons. It's hard to check everything at the store before you leave because the sales reps don't want to open a bunch of phones that they now can't sell.
My question is, is there anyone who has light bleed and are just gonna live with it and keep the device? I have no stuck/dead pixels, the device is starting relatively cool, and there is no screen separation or yellow spots.
I have a hard time making these types of decisions because of my ocd, so I'm just looking for some opinions. If you think this is a dumb topic or feel you have to bash me for it please just save yourself the time. If you don't wanna answer the question then don't. Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Mine has a tiny bit of bleed to the right of the capacative buttons, but nothing I can't live with, only noticable in a dark room really.

Mine has a little light bleed as well, but I can live with it just for the fact that everything else on my phone is immaculate.
Swyped from my HTC One X using XDA Premium.
i only notice it when there is no light, doesnt bother me? doesnt effect the screen quality or anything. its all good.
I have a light bleed to the bottom left of capacitive buttons, its only visible in dark places, it has annoyed me a bit, but i have to live with it ,anyway i have turned off the baclit completely using the script posed in the development section. It doesnt bother me anymore.
Tiny bit bottom left under capacitive buttons, only in dark room. No buggy.

Thanks guys. I can't notice it in daylight either which is pretty cool. I'll have to wait for root on 1.85 to turn them off tho.

Well, it looks like the bleed is actually coming from the capative buttons, which turn off automatically when it's bright enough so you won't notice anything anyway

Hey guys, I just wanna make sure I know what light bleed even looks like! So when I tilt my phone forward and look down towards the capacitive buttons I definitely see light coming from them, but I literally have to tilt the phone to see it. It doesn't bother me at all, do most of you tilt your phone a lot when using it or is 'light bleed' when it creeps onto your screen from a normal viewing angle?

Does anyone get what looks like a row of lights shining up from the bottom of the display above the capacitive buttons?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I don't but at the top when booting there is a line that is definitely brighter than the rest of the HTC boot screen. I'm assuming that's a light bleed but it doesn't bother me.
Mine bleeds a little onto the screen when it's dark. My att guy says its a warranty issue covered for a year.

Hello,
So I got the HTC One X last week and the first one had a dead pixel so I swapped that one out. Depending on the day I go to the store, you see sometimes a nice lady is there or a mean lady is there. The store is Target Mobile. The mean lady I don't think has a blink of an idea of what cell phones are. She doesn't even know what a dead pixel is...
Anyways, so my new replacement phone seemed to be perfect, however starting from the bottom of the screen it has a visible blue tint and as you look at the screen from bottom to top, it seems to disappear. By this I mean the screen looks like a grayscale graph but instead it starts with a moderate blue tint and to an accurate white. It's actually really annoying when I'm typing in landscape mode beause the color differentations of the halves of the screen. Also, it seems like a piece inside the camera is loose because when I shake the phone there seems to be something inside moving. Also when I focus in the camera, it makes a physical click whenever I focus. So are these reasons enough to convince the sales rep to swap out my phone?
When I was changing my dead piexeled phone, she said " How do you know that it is defective. That may be the way the manufactuer makes it...
Anyways do you guys have any other counterpunchlines to use when she says stupid things like this?
Thank and sorry for this WOT.
I gave up looking for a phone without dead pixels. I tried to exchange my 2nd and two AT&T employees claimed that they couldn't see them. I almost wanted to tell them to get their eyes checked because I can see them at full arm length extension.
But screw it. I'm sick of wasting my time trying to find the perfect screen. I feel like the dead pixel epidemic is getting even worse with these super high res, high DPI screens.
From what you explained, I would exchange it. Is it obvious? If so it will be an easy exchange. Inspect the new phone carefully before agreeing to accept it.
I can see what appears to be a small fingerprint size bluish smudge in the upper right quarter of my screen. I actually only notice it on gray screens.
I keep telling myself it's not there in order to make myself believe it is truly the best phone ever.
So in an act of complete contrition, I'm going to rescind what I just said about the bluish smudge...
My screen is perfect... Hahahaha

I actually have the same issue with my screen! I'm going later today to get mine swapped out. It's not too bad right now, but I don't want it to get worse later.

Mine has exactly this in the middle of the screen. I can only see it in dark rooms when on a dark screen. It looks exactly like a finger smudge. I almost took it back at the 30 day mark, but was scared of getting one with dead pixels. so like you I convinced myself it wasn't there. It was, but now it isn't
I havent seen any blue tint or dead pixels on my One X
Lol "ignore it till it goes away"

Guys i got a Cheap HTC ONE X quad core version at just 250$ locally.
There is some issue with the device. Which the seller told me about it..
The Problem is that, the digitizer is broken on the left side, not much just a little bit. ( like a Pinch )
The screen works fine but the A button on the keyboard does not..
The Brightness of the screen is just 50% all time, even when set to max manually its brightness is 50% only.
The Light sensor works fine, i tried it by showing a torch at the sensor and the capacitive button backlit turned off. ( does it cos of the LCD issue )
Also there is flick in the screen, like the brightness comes up 10% on touch and scrolling.
Also the touch sensitive button backlit is off set.
its bellow the capacitive button not exactly underneath them..
Took it to near by service centre and they told me to change the whole LCD with digitizer.
So if i change the digitizer and lcd completely will the problems be solved??
they are asking me around 125$ for Replacing the digitizer and LCD screen ( HTC authorised service centre )
Rest than that The device works perfectly fine..
The LCD has the backlight in it and the digitizer has all the components that are probably broken. So in short, yes replacing these will fix your issue

Thanks m8..
Just a small final doubt.
Does the digitizer holds the backlit for the Capacitive buttons??
Cos i saw some Youtube videos on Screen Replacement.. They took off a strip which is the touch sensitive buttons.
Cos in mine its off set. Its like the back button backlit has moved down to the end and then other 2 a little bit down...
sounds like the guy you got it from broke the screen and did his own crappy repair. which I wouldn't have paid $250 for. now your into another repair for $125, you could got a new one for not much more and no headache.
Btw if it's a quad core... wrong section.

I got it all clear..
Saw an ONE X assembly video, in which the backlit of the Capacitive buttons comes in a separate flex cable which also powers the vibrator...
There use to be a glue on the left side and a screw hole on the right side to hold the backlit strip, which that guy must have placed it wrongly on the left side without proper glue, So only its off set from the button...
Am heading to HTC service centre tomo for an paid service.. Hope everything goes well..
HTC will fix it up... they have the proper gear. Good luck!

So my HOX's back-light is dead. The screen works and if i shine a bright light on it I can see the screen image. Is this even fixable?
Sure its fixable. But you likely need a new screen. I don't know how the backlights are built on the one x, but on the s2 they were part of the screen(although its amoled so technically there's no backlight at all)

Sounds like one of the layers in your LCD has burned out. I'd see if you can get that warrantee through your service provider. Or order a LCD/screen and replace.
