I sent an email to Seido yesterday, asking when their cases would be ready for the Nexus 4. While they would not give an ETA on product availability, they did inform me that I could send an email to [email protected] in order to receive alerts when the products became available to order.
So for anyone wanting alerts when Seido cases are ready, send your email address to [email protected].
Nice. I love their gear.

I asked support on Twitter for an ETA on N4 case availability.
Here's their response : https://twitter.com/seidioseidio/status/276799139445096448
Not sure if you guys know it, but they have page holders for the N4 cases on the Seidio site. Under development, baby!

How long after a handset has been released does it normally take Otterbox to start releasing cases?
I had the defender for my DHD and would like to get the same for my sensation.
Thanks.
they told me before that there has to be a demand for them to make cases for specific phones.
Unless your phone keeps the Dr. away, in the wind you will sway.
Yeah I got an email today saying that they are not producing them at the moment.
Ah well looks like I will get a casemate instead
What a mistake on Otterbox's part. Im personally expecting to sell more cases for this then the Evo 3D. Usually Otter releases about 2 months after launch for non Apple products.
So what is the best alternative?
I.E. What is the absolute best in maximum protection?
Looking for a case that even prevents dust from entering as well !

Nice cases. Though not available for the Sensation either
I wrote to Trident and they said they will be producing a case for the Sensation and they will be available next month. They didn't say which type of case it would be.

Hopefully it will be like an Otterbox.
I'm looking for maximum protection so it preserves the resale value when I sell in a year or so.
If anyone finds a case like that, let us know!
I emailed OtterBox an this was the response.
"At this point we do not have any information if a case will be made at this time for that device, but it is something that has been requested a lot. I would say to keep an eye on our website, as it will have the most up to date information on any new releases that we may have."
I would say keep those emails going to otterbox and we should have a case in no time.

I got the exact same response, then the guy said itd be really sick if they came out with one. they'd be dumb to not produce it but im gonna have to get a substitute in the meantime. the casemate looks like an inferior imposter. thoughts?
Me too!
I have also e-mailed them and gotten a response. It said pretty much what everyone else's has said, but it also mentioned that there was a high volume of interest coming in about a case for said device. So it seems this whole e-mailing them is working.
Here's what I got from Zach:
" We currently have no plans to make a case for this device, but I am happy to pass your request on to our development team. Customer Service finds out about new case releases the moment they are posted to the website. It is best to keep an eye on our website or Facebook page, as they will have the most up to date information on our products and new cases."
No plans? Uh Oh

Trident cases (any version that they make) will be perfect for protecting your phone. I had one on my Samsung Vibrant, and it was awesome. The said they will have a case out next month.
Put in my e-mail...
Sent an e-mail to Otterbox...expect the same response as everyone else is getting but hopefully if enough people e-mail they will get the hint and produce a case.
While I'd hate to hide the Sensation's beautiful build, it would be nice to see a rugged case out on the market. Hopefully Otterbox pushes something out soon.
@Otterbox confirmed today on twitter they are developing a case for the sensation! Hopefully they will do commuter and defender at least.
Tpu case working fine for now...

I would love to see Speck make a Fitted case for the Nexus 4 to protect that glass back so I have submitted a request to do so. If you like the idea please go vote for it as per there feedback email the more votes they get the more likely they will be to build the case.
Example of the Fitted case

Signed, I do like the colours and patterns they use on the iPhone cases...
In. Those iPhone cases look great.
I actually e-mailed support last week about it and got this response:
Thank you for asking. We made cases for the other Nexus models and I think we are making one for this as well. There are no details about it just yet but we may know more soon. If you have any colors or designs you would like, let our designers know! You can submit your idea to our Suggest page found on our homepage on the far left side of the screen. You can submit the idea for voting and the more votes it gets, the more likely our team will be to consider it. Please take a moment to do so!

needless to say i wont be letting anyone touch it till i get a good case
Voted. I would love a Candy Shell as well.
Most of the time Seidio products can be purchased from Amazon at much lower prices but in the case of recently released Seidio items they're not available on Amazon yet so if you want the product Seidio's webstore is the only place to buy it. If I hadn't gone through this I would not have believed it possible but here's what it takes to return/exchange an item purchased on Seidio's webstore:
1) request approval for an RMA (note this first step is not getting a RMA it's getting approval to get one) by emailing under your login on their website
2) after the approval getting the RMA (instead of just filling out an RMA to begin with)
3) sending Seidio pictures of the item (done after the actual RMA is issued but not requested by Seidio until after the RMA is issued, completed & returned) Must be obvious to everybody but Seidio that if you ship them a damaged item they won't exchange/credit it.
4) Seidio emails you that they've received your returned item and will further advise you in 2-3 business days
5) You have to call their Customer Support to find out the outcome and if it's a store credit you have to contact them again after you order something to have them apply the store credit to your order.
And to top it all off Seidio gives you 7 days to return an item, a whole 7 days. It is completely obvious that Seidio deliberately makes every attempt to have you just forget about returning something because of all the steps and time involved and I'm guessing a lot of their customers do not go through the entire process.
Well guess what Seidio, if I spent all the time I did with your ridiculous return process I can spend a few more minutes telling my fellow forum members about it.
Compare the above to Amazon's 30 day return window where all you do is print a return label. And no Seidio does not provide a return label you can print, you have to address the return box yourself & pay for freight both ways.
Nice job Seidio, I'm sure this post will encourage a lot of orders from your webstore.

Greatful that I never had this issue with them.I dealt with them note 2 days.
BAD ASS NOTE 4 & GEAR S
It's BS like this that makes me essentially only ever order things from Amazon, and typically only if they're eligible for Prime shipping.
The bigger issue is that Seidio stuff is so overpriced...

Worse than that is the fact that it's not premium merchandise warranting their ridiculous prices. Three brands I'm familiar with BodyGlove, Ballistic & Otterbox actually have premium products. An Otterbox Defender is about the same price as the Seidio Convert and I think a far superior case. My BodyGlove ToughSuit and the Ballistic Tough Jacket Maxx are considerably less money, about a third less and both are better more protective cases cases than the Seidio. All Seidio is doing is overpricing inferior goods.
Such posts make me thankful I pay for Amazon Prime.
OP I'm sorry you had to go through this adventure for a simple exchange and thank you for warning us.
ordered a case from UAG for my note 3....was messed up.....
so guess what happened...
they sent me two replacement cases immediately and let me keep the original.
Great company.
Yea seidio stuff is overpriced for sure. I used to like SOME of their products but with their horrible cs and dip in quality lately they've lost me as a customer. At least with Otterbox the warranty last a year and all you do is take a photo to prove its authentic, not with seidio and they're arrogant and straight up deny well known issues with their products. Never again.

I'm going to be sending back my Convert Add On kit because both the rugged skin & the holster are unbelievably bad. After applying for an RMA last night I was notified by email it was approved and I can expect to receive it in 1-2 business days. I forgot to mention in my original post when you apply for an RMA you have to supply the product code(s), like Seidio doesn't have the info contained on the invoice they create when you order a product.
After my first (and last) experience with both Seidio's products and their dog & pony show for returning items I think Seidio should be crossed off anybody's list and put under the category of "don't even consider buying anything from them" and that includes on Amazon or any other independent reseller. As lousy as my Convert rugged skin is and a holster that caused my phone to fall to the floor when I bent over to tie my shoes owing to the flimsy method with which the holster is attached to the belt clip I must categorize their products as pure trash.
And the beat goes on.................
After receiving an email 3 days ago from Seidio's warranty/returns dept. advising me I would receive RMA return instructions in 1-2 days I called them today because I haven't received that email with those instructions and at 1:49pm CST and was told that dept. "was out to lunch". They are only open from 8:00am-5:00pm M-F.
When I do get the email IIRC they will be requesting I send them photos which of course will take several business days to reply to and if everything is satisfactory they will actually issue an RMA the better part of 2 weeks after I initiated the return request.
Seido as a company is "out to lunch".
unbelievable
Seidio received my garbage Convert Add On kit return Saturday March 14th and they just send an email yesterday acknowledging the return which stated there would be an additional 4 to 5 business day timeframe to "process" the return.
It took about 2 weeks for me to get them to issue an RMA including 3 phone calls after going through all the nonsense logged into their website to request a RMA, add in the week delay in acknowledging physical receipt of the return & the additional 4-5 business day timeframe to "process" the return it will take about a month before I even know if they will issue a refund & that doesn't include the 4 days shipping time.
Needless to say Seidio is way beyond ridiculous when trying to return defective merchandise purchased through their online store.
Hands down this is by far the worst experience I've ever had trying to return defective merchandise purchased online. No other experience even comes close.
As I've stated previously between their completely defective merchandise & their inane return process Seidio richly deserves to be out of business.
yup, this is why I always check amazon before buying something, if they have it in stock, I'll buy from them.
This is also the main reason I buy my phones from amazon. I know I can buy "new" phones from swappa which will be about $50 cheaper (for the case of Note 4 atm), I 'd rather spend 50 bucks more and have peace of mind thinking if there ever is a problem, returning and exchanging is only a few clicks.....

Unfortunately for me the Surface case & the Convert Add On kit weren't yet available on Amazon when I ordered them. I made the huge mistake of thinking Seidio sold premium quality products and thought I'd try one of their cases. The Surface case which I ordered last October when the N4 was released is good quality but it's way overpriced for the features it offers. Only reason I ordered it was to turn it into the Convert case/holster combo which took Seidio about another 3 months to release. So I immediately ordered the Convert Add On kit when it became available and it was total trash. The holster was literally unusable because it kept disconnecting from the belt clip causing my phone to drop to the ground and the rubber Convert cover slipped off the bottom edge every time I used the fingerprint scanner sometimes impeding use of the fingerprint scanner. The holster & rubber cover were so poorly designed I could not use them.
After I made my first post today I got another email from Seidio and if I'm understanding it correctly they are issuing a refund of zero. I'll have to call them for the 4th time and clarify that is the case. If so I will be initiating chargebacks with the banks that issued the credit cards used to make the purchases. I've never had reason to initiate a chargeback in my life but now that Seidio has taken so much of my time there is no way I'm going to just forget about it and lose $70 because their products are unusable junk.
I truly believe Seido's whole game plan for refunds is to make it so difficult you'll just forget about it. Without giving any great deal of thought to it I'd have to say Seidio may just be the worst company I've ever encountered and considering I've spent six decades on the planet that's saying something.
Good luck in getting your hard earned money back. I never liked seidio cases.
Thanks for the feedback, at least we know their game..
Similiar situation here..never again will I buy something from them.
I had the opposite experience. I agree that their site is overpriced. When I had a return they asked me to send pictures. They replied within one day and just sent me a whole new one. Once I had a small defect on the phone case after having it for 3 months. They also sent me a new one right away after I sent them pics. Sorry you guys are having such a hard time......
Hello All,
It seems to me that none of the big boys in the case market don't think there is a market to make cases for the Nexus line of phones (5x/6p).
I've sent emails to UAG and lunatik, a facebook message to Otterbox and got the responses that there is either no information or no interest in making the cases for these phones.
This is a call for you to bug those companies to show them there is demand for good quality cases for the Nexus line of phones.
Once the reviews come out there will be more demand but for now let's make some noise and email or flood the Facebook pages to let them know that we want the cases.
If we can show them there's people who will buy them maybe they will get their head out of their asses and put in the effort
Post who you have emailed and update with responses. With some luck and effort, we might be able to change their minds
There is a similar post in the 5x accessories forum. if we are to get anywhere we need to work together

Spigen: Cases coming over the next couple of weeks
Cover up: [email protected]
Lunatik: [email protected] (these cases are beyond durable and sexy as hell)
Love Mei: http://www.lovemeicase.com/index.php...mation/contact (knock off of the company above)
If I'm missing any companies, Please let me know and I will add their contact info
Maybe post some links to their email addresses and FB pages?
Edit: links are up, sent one email to each, will send another round in a few days.
gonna create a list in the second post
if you know of any emails or fb pages, please post
Also maybe we should all focus on one manufacturer for say a week for instance. All if us, as a whole, Just bomb that one company for a week or so. Not literally bomb them.... Send emails i mean. Lol
Fired an e-mail / DM to each one of those linked in the second post.
One message to each from each person will work, as long as they see there's interest and the numbers to make it worth their while

This is beyond stupid. The consumer should not have to contact these companies with manufactured pleas for their product.
If they choose not to appease the Nexus market then so be it, several more will rise to fill in the gaps.
Verus for example has already produced several gorgeous cases while it took Spigen weeks to not only come up with contradicting email replies, but a product as well.
Use your wallet, and don't be a tool to these companies.

Since the new nexus devices are getting amazing reviews and selling like hot cakes, maybe we should send another round of messages to the manufacturers again to see if they have changed their mind

I just discovered a US-based company called Carved (www.carved.com) that make wooden-backed cases. They've made cases for the Nexus 6 and 5 in the past, so I sent them an e-mail asking for one for the 6P. Some of their designs are really quite unique; I'd definitely pay a premium for something of quality and made in North America.
In other words, I'm asking people to e-mail these guys with requests, too
Let's pick a company to bug about waterproof cases. I'd pay good money for a waterproof cases.

This. I'd love to use my phone for fieldwork (and just generally in the rain), but LifeProof is all I know and they will likely never make a case for anything that isn't an iPhone or Galaxy. I just got one of those Ziplock-looking bags off Amazon as a stopgap measure.
