[Q] at&t screen replacement - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

hi guys ok am not very clear with issue and i need clarification. Will an original screen+digitizer from the international version work on my at&t version? It is known that there is a difference of a few mm in terms of lenghth between the two models yet some people claimed that their replacements worked despite capacitive backlights not lighting up evenly........also does it matter whether to use either a replacement with green flex cable or yellow flex cable?
It is quite hard to find at&t OEM lcd but with the international there seems to a few genuine ones out there.
I really clarification on this

You will find the att LCD and digitizer here. International does not fit

its a pity that at&t parts are hard to find. Most of them are cheap chinese crap

[Q] A little help verifying my model.

I recently saw a good deal on the NS locally and snapped one up as soon as I could, my understanding it that i was lucky to get an AMOLED version, and I'm really happy with it, i have been trying to identify my model and i cant seem to find out for sure.
According to the wiki all european models are "GT-I9023" but it also states that these models all have S-LCD displays, which cant be right?
Here is a link to what I have read: -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Google_Nexus_S
It would make sense for my model to be the I9020T but my phone was purchased sim free and therefore has nothing to do with T-mobile.
Thanks guys!

If you look under your battery, the information you require will be there in black & white UK AMOLED version is GT-I9020/GSM (I9020T!)
Says its a I9020, must mean its a I9020T right?
I had to use a magnifying glass to read it :S

It also tells you in the little safety booklet supplied. I bought one last week

Mytouch 4G Slide lcd question

Hey peeps, i have a question regarding the mytouch 4g slide. Ive search around the forums to find an answer but to be honest nothing certain about it. I have a broken lcd mytouch 4g slide. Problem is that as far as it seems there are two versions of this lcd, SONY and Hitachi. Problem is, that mines show a different number than those two. The Hitachi responds to 60H00519, the SONY is 60H00523. But the one i have is 60H00532. Question is, does anybody knows if the 60H00523 will work for this phone? Thanks for the help in advance
My experience with cellphones is that, if the screen tech is the same ie AMOLED, LCD, LED etc etc and the connectors and power requirements are the same, then they will probably work. They may differ in image sharpness, brightness and liifespan but they will work.
Maybe someone who has had an experience with the different MT4GS screens can give his view on his experience with them
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app
Well, if it matters the sony version doesnt work on this phone. Its incredible that the 60H00532 version of this lcd display cant be found on ebay or any other place online. No explanations or whatsoever about this also. Just a couple people asking the same question im asking right now.

I also have the same LCD as him, I don't understand the issue here, is this a Sony or hitachi???
Well the 532 if available on eBay now pricey for a lcd
Wait so does it matter which version of the LCD I order in to repair my MT4Gs with? Is one superior to the other?
edit: nvm answered my own question by searching these forums more. unfortunately it seems I have no way of knowing which screen I have without opening up the phone! *sigh*

Replacing the screen

Wasn't sure where else to post this, but I have the opportunity to buy a tegra 3 model one X for cheap, due to a broken screen/digitizer, and have the S4 ATT variant. I've searched a few threads and couldn't find anything about possibly switching the screens in the two and if they are even compatible. If there is another thread on this, awesome but otherwise can someone give me a technical reference as to whether this is even possible or not. I'd lovvvve to use the tegra model since I'm on T-Mobile anyway and 4G/LTE are irrelevant

It is possible since the phones are the same size and everything, just the processor is different. The problem is the screen repair is extremely difficult according to many people, and it most likely will need to be sent to a professional to be done properly (no raised edges, properly set, etc.). The cost of repair from HTC is ~$300.
Okay that was concern number 2) Is it even worth the attempt? I'm sure as hell not going to drop another 300 on fixing it if I have the potential to do it myself. And it would be a swap of only the LCD/digitizer as one piece. But thanks for answering my question. Just wanted to be sure before dropping the cash

There are several other threads on this topic already. The screen/digitizers are being sold as different part depending on Tegra3 or Snapdragon S4 versions. So it seems there may be differences between the two. You can search for the other threads for more discussion on this.
As already mentioned, its not an easy repair. Taking the phone apart, and installing the screen is much more difficult than other phones, due to the polycarbonate unibody design. Even pro repair shops are having problems doing the repair, and there has been a report of a shop messing up the repair, damaging the outside of the phone, and getting glue all over it when disassembling and re-assembling.
Is their something wrong with your S4? If not, I would leave it alone. You're likely going to mess up both phones trying to Frankenstein something together, and its not worth it.
If your switching screens from one phone to the other it's pretty simple since the digitizer and LCD don't need to be removed from the screen frame... just swap the frames. If your comfortable with it.

If I remember right, the S4 version is .4 mm longer than the international versions which, if you've noticed some cases out there, causes the cases to be misaligned.
This SMALL length difference causes the screens to be slightly different as well. now, I could be wrong. But I do believe reading somewhere that the screens were NOT compatible between the Tegra3 and S4 versions due to that incredibly minute difference.
Yes, if they differ at all I would not swap them at all....new LCD/digitizer assemblies are $80 on amazon from u.s. resellers

Okay, all phenomenal input, thanks. I'm just going to sit tight with my S4 version. It's just this lack of root is making me try anything

Any Filipino HTC One S users here at XDA?

Hello XDA developers.. i want to know if there are any filipinos here, who have or had an HTC One S? I would really like to talk with you guys about your personal experience with the phone..

Why does it have to be fillipinos specifically? Everyone here is a one S user.
Also, this isn't the forum to make this thread.

I'm just curious if how many of us filipinos, managed to own a One S with S4 processor because here in our country, only the S3 version is being sold. Sorry then if you find this thread inappropriate. You shouldn't have been bothered in the first place because I was ONLY talking to my fellow countrymen.
Sorry for my english.

May wanna specify, I know a few filipinos with the s4 one s, but... They live in North America, you may want to more specifically ask about anyone living in the Philippines getting the s4 one s

Finaly.. i thought i was the only one.. saan nyo pala nabili yung One S S4 nyo and how much? I just want to know battery stats since here in the philippines, we don't often use mobile data unlike countries which they use 3g and 4g.. another question is, HTC One X+ came out a week or two, do you feel the need to upgrade? Since it's really a great phone.. and may probably tie or beat the battery life of our One S, considering it has a bigger display and uses slcd-2..

That would do.. i was referring to filipinos who live here in the philippines who luckily have the S4.. also, the black MAO process of the One S came out here in the phils. already.. unfortunately, it has the S3 processor.. but i compared it side by side with mine, and you won't see any difference.. the only way i confirmed it is i downloaded it with quadrant and check for it's soc installed..

:: puts hand up! :: Bought mine thru Widget City for 21k, since they were the only "semi-reputable" seller of S4 version months ago. Battery life is modest at best, that's why I bought a car charger and a slow charger for use at work. Perfectly happy with it (Black MAO) but had 2nd thoughts that I should have gotten the Blue/Grey instead,as the black is slippery to the touch. Had to get a capdase casing from Greenhills to make it bearable to hold and not be afraid of the phone falling. The 64gb white S would have been nice, but am not a power user anyways.

May i ask, i wanted to know if your One S is affected with the chipping of the MAO process.. btw, i envy you.. because i bought mine in HTC Italy and it cost me 32000 pesos total.. i thought widget city is not legit so i don't trust them and i'm not sure if they do sell the s4 variant.. i wish the black one s do have the 64gb storage, because the white one isn't that appealing to me.. if i knew earlier that widget city is legit, i would've bought there and save 10 or 11k atleast..

Chipping-wise, only in the charger slot,as I tend to mishoot the cable, but surprisingly, no chipping elsewhere ( I was prepared for this before getting the black one) I did my homework to make sure I got an S4 version, tooke about 2 months of persistent buffering stores and even HTC sales agents until I found the S4. Widget City is legit, but has the most terrible customer service for an online store (Kimstore is the best) but had to bear it as only they have the best price and the only one to carry the S4 version.

Just like mine.. the only chip i had is inside the usb port as it is inevitable that the usb tip will not touch around the usb port.. elsewhere, i don't have any chipping issues. And like you, i researched through almost all possible sources to make sure i'll get the s4 and the batch of HOS not affected with the chipping issue. May i ask again, what is the first 6 digit of your serial number? Mine is SH24KW, as it is one of the basis if your One S is affected with the issue..
You use an otterbox? Does it really add bulkiness to the phone? My friend bought a commuter for his One X, and it's really bulky..
How does widget city be terrible in costumer service? Yup, i also inquired there and ask if it was really an s4 they are selling.. they even said the model name (z520e) when i ask them to check the box.. from there, i knew that i would be getting the s4 but i really couldn't imagine why they sell that for just 21k or less..
Well, enough for the regrets, i'm satisfied with the HOS.. but the release of the HOX+ makes me think to upgrade to it.. what are your insights? Hehe.

Got mine from a seller in tipidpc.. He was selling a unit from tmobile.. Lahat kasi ng units from tmobile, s4..problem is, I had to unlock it myself (may sticky dito yun) that was I think 6months ago, 20k..battery life is a little bit on the low side pero everything else, sulit.. Gusto ko sana ng black but natakot ako sa chipping, so got the grey one.. And no, I'm not tempted by the one x+, i hate huge phones

SH23KW. I use a Capdase casing and it barely adds volume (read my initial post). I took choose HOS primarily for 3 things: processing power, form factor and ease of use with one hand. Think of what is essential for you, and if majority of those leads to HOS+, then consider it.

Odd.. have you read the Micro Arc Oxidation Failure topic here at our One S Forum? Seems like you are one of the exemption that didn't have the chipping in spite of having a SH23 s/n.. in the topic, almost all SH23 owners suffer from chipping which is said to be the first batches of the HOS, while SH24 and SH25 are the "fixed" batches regarding the MAO chipping.. i guess you were very lucky with your One S.
Yes, that were also my considerations before i bought the HOS, ease of use, top of the line processor and it's build quality. I would've bought the One X+ if it was already available when i was only deciding what to choose.. i didn't choose the One X because of short battery life, overheating issues, the camera lens is very vulnerable to scratches and it's a huge phone compared to our One S, but with the promising and superb specs of the One X+, i think i can live with a bigger phone, now that all my concerns with the One X is now solved with the One X+, i really don't know if i would upgrade..

Hi!
I just bought my One S yesterday. It's black. Unfortunately, I found out about the S4 vs S3 debacle too late and found out just today, that I have the S3 version. I plan on going back to the HTC Concept Store at SM City Cebu to demand an exchange, as the dumb phones they had on display with spec sheets clearly say Snappdragon 4! I bought this phone for speed and to find out later that I got a "crippled" version with the S3 chip for an S4 price is downright fraud for me.
Well, wish me luck. :good:
BTW, did you guys get the 4.0.4 OTA update? I'm not seeing any. Stuck at 4.0.3. Maybe another issue with this "disappointing" S3 version.

I also saw here at SM Fairview last week, that they are selling the black version of the One S, but they didn't say that it has the s3 or the s4 chip. I inspected it, and comparing to mine, external features is really identical, but when i compare the speeds in opening some apps like the camera, gallery, messages, contacts, the app drawer, settings and other, it's really noticeable that my One s4 is faster compared with the s3 version, but i didn't stop there.. i logged on my gmail to the One S they are selling and downloaded quadrant to check it's system info, and from there, i saw that the product name is villec2, msm8260, 1784 MHz and adreno 220. It clearly states that the one they are selling is the s3 version.. i then run full benchmark on my HOS and the one they are selling, my HOS finished first, then i got a score of 5200+ while theirs only scored 4k+.. so it's really an s3. I hope you could get a replacement and get the s4 variant.. as the s3 is not that great as the s4.. about the 4.0.4 update, yes i already updated to that since the 2nd week of october.. i guess the update for the s3 rolled out last november's first week? I'm afraid if the One S got its JB update, the s4 variant would be the first to get it, and a month or two before for the s3 one.. but in the first place, i hope we'll have a JB update. Hehe

ATT HTC One X Hardware Problem

So recently I repaired my HTC One X's screen for the second time.. (I should have just bought a case and saved myself 120$ that I don't have) However through a course of events the power flex cable broke, the one that runs to the one off button. After some searching on the internet I was able to find the part I needed however there are two versions, one for the US and Canada HTC and another for the international versions. I have the US and Canada phone but the only places I could find the part are through OEM sources and to buy from them I need to run a company. So I was wondering would it be alright to buy the international version for the US phone? I know the actual hardware wouldn't cause any problems but I'm not sure if they would fit... The only other alternative I have is to buy a 60$ broken phone and steal the piece from that. If anyone has ideas on possible alternatives besides the options I have I am all ears.
I have links to them but I am unable to post them since I don't have ten posts.

I doubt you'll find anyone that will be able to give you a difinitive answer since there's very little chance that anyone here has bought both phones, opened them up and compared the parts. We know that the international and carrier locked versions do not have the same internals, the international one X is also a bit thicker. It would be up to you if you want to take the risk but your safest bet would be to buy the part designed for your phone model.
You're welcome to send me the links via PM and I can check them and give my best guess but like I said, it would not be a difinitive answer.
