Debrand HTC Desire S

Just wondering if anyone had managed to debrand a Desire S.
Have made a goldcard and ran the RRU however I get a bootloader error.
Not really interested in rooting or installing custom ROMs just want rid of the Vodafone crappy.

Waht kind of crap?
Bootanimation/splash is hard to remove.
To delete apps from Vodafon or apps from htc (amazonmp3, navi preinstalled) you have to root - after rooting they are "normal" apps to uninstall.
root:
1) s-off your phone (should have be done with your gaoldcard)
2) search for onclickroot here on xda
done

Hmm.. is your desire s s-off? If yes then just flash the original HTC ROM Ruu! Just look it up in this forum! For me it worked well! Even my T-Mobile splashscreen disappeared!

forgive my complete ignorance here however what is a goldcard ? I have just got a new desire s from O2 and its branded & locked. Want to remove the branding as well as unlock it ideally.
Any suggestions?

Out of curiosity what is your SKU and P/N on the box as i purchased an O2 desire s and it came with generic firmware and unlocked. Although i think i got lucky.

i got mine unlocked for free from o2...just go through their site and chat to an advisor..ask them you want your phone unlocked...worked for me

I didnt say it was S-OFF i said it was unlocked, meaning Sim-Free lol...
I wish it was S-OFF!!!

Gosh...
When is sum1 gonna either find a way to s-off desire s so that i can try the roms or maybe root it with s-on cos still you can flash without a problem...

Just install the ics ruu off the hec dev website. That will remove the branding.

But unfortunately HTCDEV ICS for desire S has bugs... like link clicks on SMS and other stuff, from what i have read.
It is not possible just to install a WWE rru like "RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9_Radio_20.4801.30. 0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_234765_signed" with the a goldcard inserted on the phone? If what it is needed is just to unbrand the phone, without having root or other stuff... or is it need to Hboot S-OFF unlock from HTCDEV? please advise.

Edit: from fastboot i got CId = VODAPD18 which it means Vodafone Portugal. Is it possible to run above RRU + goldcard with no / little risk of bricking ?

The SPL (S-OFF) part would be especially nice, as I saw people complaining here that they can't root their device (the ones which have S-ON can't be rooted).

Again, this won't give you s-off, only developer builds will do that (I think) which are internal to HTC and won't be leaked ever.

I have an HTC ChaCha which i got from Dubai... It seems to be an Europe Edition.. I tried to load this ROM into it and i got an ERROR.
It said wrong CID or something.. I believe this is an upgrade to the version that is present on the phone...
Can somebody help me with what to do..
Also it says S-ON in the bootloader...
Will htcdevs Unlock Bootloader work to S-OFF it??
Is there any method available, simillar to Sensation and EVO 3D for ChaCha..??

Unfortunately it has been said over and over again, s-off is possible with an XTC clip at the moment. If you want you can wait for HTC to unlock the bootloader (which will take some time) or alpharev.
You can either buy an XTC clip or find a local gsm shop that has one and will s-off your phone. Afterwards you can put the rom on it.

This is helpful mate, do realise this is an asian rom.. what languages does it come with? does it have arabic. Is is a stock unbranded rom??

hey i have tried to find info or guide to dev unlock my HTC Mozart but have not had any luck yet. I was just wondering if anybody could help me out? If there was a guide or link it would b much appreciated

Currently, it pretty much comes down to "get an AppHub account" or "downgrade the bootloader, install HSPL, and flash a custom ROM." So far as I know, there are no other options currently available for HTC phones.

Looking for the official RUU 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) for the Desire S

Hi,
We need a Gingerbread device for testing and the Desire S was doing great until it wasn't ...
Can anyone point to the RUU installer for Gingerbread for the Desire S?
The HTC developer site no longer offers it as a download, the support weren't much help either.

there's all official RUUs for saga (HTC Desire S).First you need to check CID of your phone then you can choose which one is for your phone.Do a little research to find out what numbers in RUU means.GL

Ah, mine is vodafone UK, so if i flash this RUU will it re lock my desire s to vodafone? or will my phone stay unlocked? Or what???
By locking i mean will it be sim locked?
