(Q) Rooting Brand New GT-5113 With 4.0.4 Preloaded - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I went to the thread but the link to root 4.0.4 leads nodda. Anyone had success rooting their 5113 with 4.0.4???
Sent from my GT-P5113 using xda premium

yes, rooting the gt-p5113 with 4.0.4 works by using odin, just as the tutorial at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056
I did it, it's easy peasy, and the explaignation and files are complete and well done. Others are gonna come around and yell at you about not searching though I'm gonna bet, but I need to earn my bones, so I'm answering.
Wait...you are a senior member asking this? really? haha...I sorta find that funny.....sorry. It's good to see no one knows everything and anyone can simply want to know a simple question. good luck to you.

Saying hi to my new home. I had the Note. Then the n7 and bought this today. So far love it although after note it does feel small
And someone please point me to the easiest rooting method. I'd greatly appreciate it. I did choose white as blue wasn't for me.
Anyway wanted to intro myself and say hi and I look forward to rooting and getting to know some of you.
Now what's the easiest root method?

Hi there, I am not sure if I am allowed to link you to another web-page, but i went to http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/how-to-root-verizon-galaxy-s3-sch-i535/
make sure you download and unlock your bootloader after rooting.
EDIT: to unlock Bootloader there is an app called on the market "Ez-Unlock" we can thank Adam for the open bootloader.
Thank you sir. I appreciate it

Finally I could help someone on the forum too
Best place to look is the stickies in the development forums I would think.

The best way to root is with Adam Outler's Casual program.
Thanks everyone! I'm unlocked. Rooted and running my rom 24hrs in. Still getting used to the size after the Note but the I do like the screen and camera better

AT&T Samsung SGH I727 4.0.4 ICS Root?

Hello! I have a simple question for y'all.
I have a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket that I recently updated to ICS 4.0.4 (I727UCLF6). I was wondering how I might go about rooting said firmware/whatever to run Superuser? I don't care for a custom ROM, just stock with Superuser access. I am familiar with using ODIN as I once ran a Superuser-enabled Gingerbread. Might any of you be of help and point me in the right direction? I would greatly appreciate it! Google has failed me in finding the information I need and it looks like a lot of the old forums are down.
If any of y'all can help, please do!

SKY ICS 4.2f6
Okaaaay... well, my apologies for ending up in the wrong forums. Sorry, I did not see a listing for the Skyrocket when looking through the different threads and such. My bad. You'll have to excuse me for not knowing my way around.
So, I see a fair share of folks makin' "oohs and ahhs", waving the good ol' e-peen about and in general being rather boisterous about a simple mistake... anybody here able to link me to something of use? Once again, I apologize for not being able to navigate the forum with ease. Perhaps a few more friendly faces and less folk simply looking to add to their post count commenting on the most mundane of errors might be of help? I would imagine there's got to be quite a few folk here who can be of service. Also to the poster who mentioned the SKY ICS, I don't think that's what I'm looking for. Though, I very well could be wrong. Still trying to get a hang of this. Perhaps a guide or walkthrough of sorts? As I said before, all I want is to root and run Superuser.
Thanks in advance!
No read the stickies up top read them all understand them then you can try and root
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Check the stickies in this section on how to flash a recovery. From there, you really only need to flash the su files. A zip can be found in the Paranoid Android post in the development section that contains just the superuser files, but at that point you can also flash any number of roms as well. Your call.

Fair enough. I suppose I'll tear through those and see what's all in them.

[Q] Root Verizon GS3 on 4.1.1

I just updated to Jellybean 4.1.1 and wanted to know if the same way I rooted 4.0.4 would still work? I.E. (Rootdebug FS)
Maybe if you would look around you'd save yourself and myself time posting on a useless thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35418324

As I do appreciate the fast response, I did look and came up with nothing. All I found was old posts that were not pertaining to the new update. Your condescending attitude on the other hand, was uncalled for.
Any luck with the rooting?

Galaxy s blaze root

Hello guys im really getting sick of the bloatware on Blaze and want to get rid of it and i also want to root my phone. But im literally terrified to do so cause i heard it could possibly brick and i seriously do not have the money to buy another phone and also this is my first time rooting. My blaze is currently running 4.0.4 ics with Baseband version T769UVMB1. It would be a great help if someone could shed some light on the possibilitiy of bricking or destroying my phone, also it would also be great if someone could give me a root guid that is compatible with my Blaze and its baseband version

Hello, I am new to this forum and just got my blaze 3 weeks ago. I know the phone is kind of old but I like it. Any way when I get a new phone the first thing I do is root it and get rid of the bloatware, but after 3 weeks searching and following 2 tuts from other sources I managed to softbrick my phone. All is good there and I managed to un-brick the phone both times. My question here, is there any tuts out there that can help me root my phone? I will post the specs below and hopefully someone can direct me to the right info.
Any help is greatly appreciated and If I missed sonething I apologise as I am in the U.S Army and usually very busy. Thanks guys!
T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4g
Current firmware: 4.0.4 (ICS I believe)-OTA updated accidently
The phone came pre-loaded with 4.0.3...I don't know why
Current baseband: T769UVMB1

First, you should never look at "other sources". XDA is the best and you should have started here
Second, wrong thread. Questions belong in the General section.
Third, if you look there is a [GUIDE][ICS]How to root stock just a few posts down.
Lastly, this phone has never been on 4.0.3 lol. There was a recent baseband update to UVMB1 but it is still 4.0.4 just as UVLH5 was 4.0.4.
Hope that helps

It seems they want us using the guide for UVLH5 although I followed it precisely (twice) and was unsuccessful.
you can disable bloatware apps with ics
you'd be able to permanently remove them with root
From what I've read on here, the Blaze is pretty hard to brick and if you do, fairly easy to fix. There's a thread on here by beastmode that lays out the exact process in rooting our phone running ICS. I'd never done it before, either, but followed the guide, Googled the info I didn't know, and it went seamlessly.

I believe the Beastmode thread you mentioned is the one I linked, and followed twice, unsuccessfully
It lays out instructions for rooting our ICS Blaze on firmware UVLH5. I (and the op) have firmware UVMB1. They are both ICS 4.0.4, I wouldn't think the process would be any different, and I don't know why it didn't work for me, but it didn't.
In that thread, there are a couple people using that version of ICS that rooted just fine. Odd it didn't work for you. Did you place the zip on your internal or external sd card?

Good morning. Let me try to help you out... There are a ton of detailed instructions in the forum for your device. Below I am giving you the link to the General forum. Check out the thread titles to find the things you're looking for, and definitely read the stickies at the top of the forum. Nobody is going to retype everything that's already right there, but there are helpful people who will answer questions if you have them after reading the guides for yourself first. Check 'em out:

If you haven't rooted the device and it has Android on it then you are on the stock ROM right now. So, follow any of the guides written out for your device (link above), which will tell you how to first root the device, then to install something called Clockworkmod Recovery ("CWM" it will be called), and then to make a backup of your stock ROM ("nandroid" it will be called). From that point you can read more about custom ROMs and start to have fun. Read first though, trust me. It's worth the time to make sure you don't brick the thing by doing something you shouldn't have.
Enjoy.
thanks a lot friend i ll try it for sure

I don't know what a root file is, but if you go to that forum all the root guides and links are stickies. Thank you so much. I needed that. Lol. You literally just quoted the answer to your own question. Like, someone asked a question, I answered it (last summer lol), then you quoted my answer to ask the same question. Oh, this made my day. Thank you... lol.
In case that's unclear... my answer to your question is the answer you quoted. Ah, I love it. Cheers, mate. I don't mean this as rude, it's just hysterically awesome. :good:
you can find it on galaxy s2 subforum for custom rom, custom recovery and root tools
if you have installed the custom recovery and root, do a nandroid back up of your current ROM (system, boot, data) in case you want to go back to your old rom

*Yeah right...you cannot insult people and then saying 'no mean to insult'. Just letting you know smartypants... I dont say this to insult you...as you say
Thread given in link was far to complicated and needed TO MUCH search (my opinion). I found the file to another thread. By saying root file I mean the file I need to root my phone. I found a file called SU or smthng like that. Thank you though mate.
