I tried to Flash the new ICS official firmware and then tried to root the device.
My phone had a problem that it used to switch off while charging and then the problem persisted and it started happening everyonce in a while.
So i tried to flash it with the stock Rom and somehow managed to brick it (i think).
Now the problem is that it is not connecting via the usb cable, whenever i try to it switches off sometimes but when it doesnt and i try to flash a rom ODIN says" Can't open the serial(COM) port." and fails to flash recovery.tar
I tried KIES recovery too but its not detecting my phone. even if i try to connect it through odin, it doesn't . . only a yellow triangle comes as soon as i start the phone which turns BLUE after few seconds and doesnt go any further.
In the DM, it says
ODIN3 Download Mode
(protocol v2)
Reason : Force Key
Check signature : check
Custom binary doownload : Yes (1 count)
current binary : custom
waiting USB cable.
I have no clue how to sort this out. im really worried since i couldnt do anything to fix it. please help me!!:crying:

I dont think you have flashed stock firmware, if you have flashed it you should not get Yellow Triangle and your Binary count is increased, so you did some thing wrong ...
can you explain the steps which you have followed..

See what i did was i first flashed the stock rom and then i tried flashing the stock ics rom which got stuck in odin and wasnt processing further. So i removed the cable and after that i tried flashing the stock gingerbread rom again and nothin was happening. it kept saying " Can't open the serial(COM) port." and fails to flash it. then being a noob i thought it'll be fine if i wipe my data and cache and then try to flash it again, but the problem was the same.
then i flashed a stock kernel and the binary increased to 2 now.
what does it mean btw?
What rom did you flash before the stock as you said you flashed something before the stock?

First, its not belong to this General Forum. It must be in Q/A thread.
Also, download & install Latest Kies with USB drivers. Reboot your PC.
Then Connect your USB with the phone & PC & let it detect your Phone. after successfully installations of USB drivers, remove your phone.
RUN ODIN V3.07 as Administrator. select PDA & options as per installation procesure.
Go to Download mod of your Mobile, attach your Phone with USB. wait till your phone not detected in COM port(yellow/green color).
hit Start button & have patience. Let it flashed it ICS in your phone.
revert if any problem persist.

i flashed this stock rom to (gingerbread) : I9103ZSLE5_I9103OZSLE5_I9103ZSKK5_HOME.tar.md5 and then tried flashing the ICS ROM: GT-I9103_XEO_I9103XWLP2_I9103OXXLP2_I9103XXLQ3 via ODIN. and it got stuck in between so i unplugged the cable. since then the phone has had a problem with MD. now if i try to flash the Gingerbread ROM again, it just doesnt work. so im not a dummy when it comes to android and odin.
i was attempting to put the phone back to stock after i misplaced it and found it again, it had been a good amount of time and i dont remember the gmail nor the passcode i used.
i followed the steps here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427268&highlight=odin+back+to+stock
and here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
confirmed all the files downloaded, and unziped/installed them all.
when i would put my phone in to download mode, it worked fine with the android dude and the "download..." sign.
but when i ran odin after i put the .tar file in the PDA slot, it failed.
now when i try to get into download mode again, i get the picture i attached.
if i try and turn on my phone regularly , i get the same picture.
odin keeps failing (ive tried about 23498 times)
im stuck in a dead end, and i just wanna find my way home.
any suggestions?
Use different comp. or try redownloading the files. use different usb cord and/or port
Follow the Odin back to stock. I've had that happen to me too. Its stickied in develpment thread. Then start from their.

Just pretend that the "Firmware Encountered an Issue" screen is download mode. For all intents and purposes it is.
You can flash the Odin tar over that screen and it will work (provided that you use a good usb port and follow instructions...)
Same issue... Please help!
I have the same screen and cannot access anything on my phone except I can power on and off. I was upgrading to a updated firmware through kies, now when I go torecovery mode in kies there is nothing to select. I am hoping someone has found a solution and will share that with me, AT&T had no clue. Thank you!

go through the odin troubleshooting steps in the second link in my sig first
1. which odin are u using, should be 1.85, redownload again
2. redownload the firmware tar again and flash again, if both of these steps fail then
3. flash a custom recovery w/odin(follow instructions on 3rd link in my sig) then flash a cwm flashable stock firmware, link are in the dl section in the first and second link in my sig
if all that fails then it sounds like you have a corrupted efs, emmc or nand partition the same as this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751338
possible fix Using loop devices to workaround corrupt eMMC partitions or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611796
if still under warranty get it fixed

seems like the old stuff people find are fracking up the efs, emmc or nand partition, or newbs are doing something wrong

Just saved me a nights sleep. Read this last night at 5am thinking I had bricked my friends galaxy. You gave me hope!
I've look at all the other post about their problems rooting the GTab2 10,1. I have tried every thinkable option and approach but still have no luck rooting my tab. I have tried the Odin root method for 4.0.4 update but it never works, I follow the instructions to a T but after odin loads the CWM recovery I go to reboot and never get the recovery. All the correct options are enabled as far as debugging and the options in Odin. All drivers are up to date, kies is installed but not running. I am not a pro like most of the people on here but I know my way around the inside of Android very well but cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong, If anyone has any helpful tips please let me know, When I use Odin, the box turns yellow saying it found it or what not, i click start, it goes through the method and turns green about 10 seconds later, it doesnt seem like it's loading CWM on my Gtab2 but it always says successful. Ive downloaded different Odin software from different links, same for the all the files, Im at the end of my rope. I've never failed at rooting a device but it's been 3 weeks with the same results... HELP!!!!!! I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P-5113 wifi, thanks

Third times a charm. Now one more question. I get Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped over and over. How do I fix this?
You have a bad download.
Hi. Recently I bought a second-hand Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000. After receiving it I discovered it was rooted. I wasn't too happy having an already rooted device, being completely new to rooting. I thought that if I'd have a rooted device, I'd root it myself and make sure I knew exactly what was going on with it. So I tried unrooting it by installing the stock firmware using Odin. However, I forgot to enable USB debugging. Now the tablet is stuck on a screen which says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
The issue is that Kies doesn't detect my device when trying the emergency firmware recovery mode. Every time I use Odin it simply fails. The device can still go into download mode, but not recovery mode. So the only thing I can think of doing now is the trick of removing the battery to then forcing it to start in recovery mode after reinserting the battery. However I don't have the tools to do this. The only alternate way I can think of is to wait a few days for the tablet to die, then making sure I've got the buttons held down to make it start in recovery mode before I plug in the charger.
Are there any other solutions you guys can think of?
I would use ODIN to flash a custom recovery, then use that recovery to flash a stock, rooted ROM.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk
something doesnt sound right....u should b able to installa stock firmware if u can access the download mode.....my bet is u do not have the correct drivers installed or ur using the wrong firmware file......
The battery thing didn't work.
Also flashing doesn't seem to be a possibility. Every time I use Odin, no matter what I'm flashing, even if I've successfully flashed it before, it always fails. Does this eliminate the possibility of some sort of samsung store repairing it?
As long as they can't get to the download mode screen where it shows if the system has been altered, they can't tell if you have voided your warranty...

Originaly, my gt-n8000 suddenly hanged by it self, it got stuck in the 'samsung galaxy note 10.1' logo, no recovery mode, only odin mode, kies can't also detect my tablet. Someone told me that probably it is because of the auto update, there might be an interruption. So i decided to try reflashing stock firmware hoping it will be fix. But after several fail to reflash, the screen got change change from 'samsung galaxy note 10.1' to 'Firmware upgrade encounter an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again'(this time odin could detect my tablet without going to odin mode) ... and then finally I was able to successfully flash a stock, but nothing change on the condition of my gt-n8000, still got stuck with 'Firmware upgrade encounter an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again' screen, no recovery, only odin mode, still kies cannot detect it.
please i need help.....after upgrading my custom recovery using odin.......thats the cwm....the phone rebooted but when i tried going into recovery mode still is not changed still showing the old android recovery system thing.....the custom recovery is not updated tried flashing it several times with odin but still no upgrade, and my note gt n8000 is rooted...please whats wrong i need it to be upgraded, how do i go about it

if someone is going through the same thing as me it's simple to fix a soft brick on your device
If it's simple
1.download TEAM WIN RECOVERY and flash it on your tab
2.make sure you have an sd card
3.go to sam mobile and get your firmware
4.use another device to pass the firmware through the sdcard
5.install it using team win recovery
6.if that doesnt work factory reset and data reset and flash it again
7.if this does not work im sorry your just gonna have to take it back to samsung.
hope i helped!
Hi all,
SHORT STORY: I am trying to flash the stock firmware using Odin (on Windows 10) onto my Samsung Galaxy S Duos (GT S7562) but it keeps saying 'Not Responding' everytime I press start. How can I get past this issue?
LONG STORY: I recently tried to reset my phone (as it was going slow) whilst it was rooted.
When it rebooted, it loaded up the set up (choose a language, connect to wifi, time and date) then nothing else loaded apart from the battery symbol, time and signal in the top right corner.
I took it to a Samsung Service Center and they said there is no software on my phone.
So after much searching and learning, I have followed the tutorial for how to flash stock firmware.
I have used many different versions of Odin but I always have the same problem, when I press START, I get the messages:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MDS..Do no unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
Then Odin says 'not responding'.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
