so im not a dummy when it comes to android and odin.
i was attempting to put the phone back to stock after i misplaced it and found it again, it had been a good amount of time and i dont remember the gmail nor the passcode i used.
i followed the steps here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427268&highlight=odin+back+to+stock
and here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
confirmed all the files downloaded, and unziped/installed them all.
when i would put my phone in to download mode, it worked fine with the android dude and the "download..." sign.
but when i ran odin after i put the .tar file in the PDA slot, it failed.
now when i try to get into download mode again, i get the picture i attached.
if i try and turn on my phone regularly , i get the same picture.
odin keeps failing (ive tried about 23498 times)
im stuck in a dead end, and i just wanna find my way home.
any suggestions?
Use different comp. or try redownloading the files. use different usb cord and/or port
Follow the Odin back to stock. I've had that happen to me too. Its stickied in develpment thread. Then start from their.

Just pretend that the "Firmware Encountered an Issue" screen is download mode. For all intents and purposes it is.
You can flash the Odin tar over that screen and it will work (provided that you use a good usb port and follow instructions...)
Same issue... Please help!
I have the same screen and cannot access anything on my phone except I can power on and off. I was upgrading to a updated firmware through kies, now when I go torecovery mode in kies there is nothing to select. I am hoping someone has found a solution and will share that with me, AT&T had no clue. Thank you!

go through the odin troubleshooting steps in the second link in my sig first
1. which odin are u using, should be 1.85, redownload again
2. redownload the firmware tar again and flash again, if both of these steps fail then
3. flash a custom recovery w/odin(follow instructions on 3rd link in my sig) then flash a cwm flashable stock firmware, link are in the dl section in the first and second link in my sig
if all that fails then it sounds like you have a corrupted efs, emmc or nand partition the same as this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751338
possible fix Using loop devices to workaround corrupt eMMC partitions or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611796

seems like the old stuff people find are fracking up the efs, emmc or nand partition, or newbs are doing something wrong

Just saved me a nights sleep. Read this last night at 5am thinking I had bricked my friends galaxy. You gave me hope!
I've look at all the other post about their problems rooting the GTab2 10,1. I have tried every thinkable option and approach but still have no luck rooting my tab. I have tried the Odin root method for 4.0.4 update but it never works, I follow the instructions to a T but after odin loads the CWM recovery I go to reboot and never get the recovery. All the correct options are enabled as far as debugging and the options in Odin. All drivers are up to date, kies is installed but not running. I am not a pro like most of the people on here but I know my way around the inside of Android very well but cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong, If anyone has any helpful tips please let me know, When I use Odin, the box turns yellow saying it found it or what not, i click start, it goes through the method and turns green about 10 seconds later, it doesnt seem like it's loading CWM on my Gtab2 but it always says successful. Ive downloaded different Odin software from different links, same for the all the files, Im at the end of my rope. I've never failed at rooting a device but it's been 3 weeks with the same results... HELP!!!!!! I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P-5113 wifi, thanks

Third times a charm. Now one more question. I get Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped over and over. How do I fix this?
You have a bad download.
Here's my situation, I have a VZW Galaxy Note 10.1 that was on MH2 and I tried rooting with the Framaroot method which didn't work. Against my better judgement and the research I did, I tried using the Kingo root method which seemed like it was going to work since I had the Superuser app request root permission (which I granted) just before rebooting. This is where I'm stuck now -- the GNote is stuck in a perpetual loop and all I can manage to get is the "downloading" screen. What I've tried so far to recover it is flashing the stock VZW firmware with every version of Odin I can find and all fail just after it appears to flash the boot image. I tried using Heimdall via a GUI and command line of both a Windows PC and a Mac to flash anything I could get it to take but nothing would stick. I have searched for a .pit file to try and repartition but I don't think I've found any that were actually for the VZW variant of the 10.1. I talked to Samsung support (acted as if I had no ide what happened) and they advised me to take it to a Samsung Experience location in my local Best Buy. I did that and the person there tried using the emergency recovery which also failed. I'm at a loss. Every possible solution I may have found I've tried twice and nothing has yet to get me any progress. Can anyone suggest something that I haven't tried yet?

So totally non committal, but I managed to fix my Note 10.1 today I hope it works for you.
I had been trying to upgrade to android 4.4.2 using a custom rooted rom but got stuck in a boot loop with my only option as download mode (no CWM, no reset, nothing just bootloop download only).
As a last resort I downloaded a Note 10.1Android 4.0.4 pit file and flashed it from odin 3.07 (pit file selected, Auto Reboot ticked, Re-partition ticked, F.Reset Time ticked - everything else unticked). Flashed the pit file, let the tablet reset and then it picked up the android update as though all was fine. The device is now working fine and without issue.
The .pit file i used is attached. Cant promise it will work, but I hope you have the same luck I do.

I gave it a shot but I"m getting "No PIT partition found" or something like that when I try. What rom did you flash with the PIT file?
I flashed the PIT by itself without a ROM file. In my case I had a failed update to 4.4.2 ROM so was able to get the Note back by putting this PIT over the top of that flashed ROM.
fingers crossed
Sorry i missed this response im downloading pit now thank you so much for the post im hopeful and well be flashing it tonight this would be awesome if it works thank you for your time and reply

Hi. Recently I bought a second-hand Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000. After receiving it I discovered it was rooted. I wasn't too happy having an already rooted device, being completely new to rooting. I thought that if I'd have a rooted device, I'd root it myself and make sure I knew exactly what was going on with it. So I tried unrooting it by installing the stock firmware using Odin. However, I forgot to enable USB debugging. Now the tablet is stuck on a screen which says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
The issue is that Kies doesn't detect my device when trying the emergency firmware recovery mode. Every time I use Odin it simply fails. The device can still go into download mode, but not recovery mode. So the only thing I can think of doing now is the trick of removing the battery to then forcing it to start in recovery mode after reinserting the battery. However I don't have the tools to do this. The only alternate way I can think of is to wait a few days for the tablet to die, then making sure I've got the buttons held down to make it start in recovery mode before I plug in the charger.
Are there any other solutions you guys can think of?
I would use ODIN to flash a custom recovery, then use that recovery to flash a stock, rooted ROM.

something doesnt sound right....u should b able to installa stock firmware if u can access the download mode.....my bet is u do not have the correct drivers installed or ur using the wrong firmware file......
The battery thing didn't work.
Also flashing doesn't seem to be a possibility. Every time I use Odin, no matter what I'm flashing, even if I've successfully flashed it before, it always fails. Does this eliminate the possibility of some sort of samsung store repairing it?
As long as they can't get to the download mode screen where it shows if the system has been altered, they can't tell if you have voided your warranty...

I have this same problem ... My GT-N8000 only showing screen saying "Firmware upgrade encounter an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again"(Kies cannot detect my tabley anymore). Originaly, my gt-n8000 suddenly hanged by it self, it got stuck in the 'samsung galaxy note 10.1' logo, no recovery mode, only odin mode, kies can't also detect my tablet. Someone told me that probably it is because of the auto update, there might be an interruption. So i decided to try reflashing stock firmware hoping it will be fix. But after several fail to reflash, the screen got change change from 'samsung galaxy note 10.1' to 'Firmware upgrade encounter an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again'(this time odin could detect my tablet without going to odin mode) ... and then finally I was able to successfully flash a stock, but nothing change on the condition of my gt-n8000, still got stuck with 'Firmware upgrade encounter an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again' screen, no recovery, only odin mode, still kies cannot detect it.
please i need help.....after upgrading my custom recovery using odin.......thats the cwm....the phone rebooted but when i tried going into recovery mode still is not changed still showing the old android recovery system thing.....the custom recovery is not updated tried flashing it several times with odin but still no upgrade, and my note gt n8000 is rooted...please whats wrong i need it to be upgraded, how do i go about it

Just open your MD5 file in "AP".....
then flash it.
Remember: You may have to flash your device again and again. But don't loose hope.
If it fails to pass, just restart your device and Odin aslo. then try again. Keep doing that. After doing this again and again your device will be successfully flashed.
It works for me, few hours ago.
Please hit thanks, if it works with you also.
Before something doing with software need read full tutorial how to flash it but don't do set and get error. This video show how to reinstall firmware: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qej_ejARno

When I unrar file from sammobile there were those 4 md5 files. Are you saying that I should put them one by one on AP?

I ve already reinstalled many smartphones (S3, S4, S5, Note3) with odin but I don t really know what s wrong with this one. Could it be a hardware problem? I ve always thought that once I can enter to download mode the problem can be solved but I start to doubt now

I downloaded it with SamFirm and checked decrypt automatically. It s faster.
It gives one single ZIP file and it has 4 md5 files inside:
AP_G920FXXS3DPB1_CL7025264_QB8755474_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development-derivatives/convert-kernel-zip-to-tar-t2994381
Successfully converted to tar file but when I flash it with odin, it is stucked

Try the 1st one... "AP"....
u may have to flash it for few times...
don't worry if you see "Fail".... keep trying......
you may have to try 8 to 10 times....
in every time you will find your download percentage increasing.
Let me know the result.
Don't forget to hit thanks if it works.

On download mode, after flashing, it is written:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G920F
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
Secure Download: Enabled
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1 (0x0304)
RP SW/REV: B:3 K:2 S:2
My question is I've just flashed a stock rom, why the system status is custom?
What does it mean Secure Download Enabled
Please help, any idea?
