Serious Help Needed.. Buying A New Phone... - General Questions and Answers

Okay well before I go any further, I will let you guys know I highly enjoy gaming! I will mainly be using my device in my free time to probably games like Criticial Strike etc.. I occasionally play Words with Friends etc but due to the fact I have a 64GB iPad jailbroken device I feel as if my iDevice crave is fixed for the time being..
I have always been an avid Android fan since the original Droid was released from Motorolla with Verizon. I owned one, rooted it, did all the stuff that I thought made it more personal etc.. I just enjoyed it..
2 years later, I finally have had enough with Verizon and made the move to Sprint.. I purchased the Evo 4G a few days after its initial release and loved it. Again, it was rooted and had Fresh Rom installed along with being OCd..
Sadly not long after newer devices emerged.. T Mobile had the first Tegra dual core device, which made me feel as if my initial $300 investment was thrown out the window..
Ive finally decided I will go back to Sprint.. My girlfriend has AT&T and personally owns the new Tegra 3 Quad Core One X device.. I like it however when playing FPS games like Criticial Strike I notice the screen isnt as easy to navigate when aiming etc as opposed to say my iPad 2 in terms of smoothness.. It seems as if it lacks the ability to glide your fingers across the screen for smooth aiming etc..
I have noticed there are absolutely NO Tegra 3 Quad Core devices right now for Sprint.. This has me worried because I intend on getting something that will be fairly adequate for atleast the next year, hopefully 2, until I decide to upgrade..
Could anyone please help me with this?! I have heard that Qualcomms 28nm vs NVidias 40nm on there Tegra 3 is better.. I cant not say.. I have honestly not installed any Tegra 3 games on her One X and after the disapointment with the touch screen while attempting to play Criticial Strike made me give up rather fast..
Any phone junkies who would be able to assist me I would greatly appreciate it! I honestly would prefer to stick with Android due to the fact I have an iPad 2 but I will definantly be open to any opinions regarding performance etc as well! I also want to note I like tethering and with Sprints truly unlimited data makes it more suitable for my needs!
Thanks,
ASM

[Q] Any other phones coming out soonish that may be better than Nexus S

So I'm getting the itch to get a new phone. I've currently got a Cliq that I've rooted and customized as I like it so I don't NEED a new phone. I just want one.
I'm with T-Mobile and my wife just recently got the Vibrant. In messing around with it, I think that without the Touch wiz, I'd be really happy with it. Which leads me to the Nexus S. The only reservation I have about the Nexus is the lack of SD card since I carry a ton of music with me for flights. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but it does make me pause.
Does anyone know of any new phones that may be coming out within the next 3-4 months that may be better than the Nexus S?
Thanks
There is always something better around the corner...
But the main advantage to getting a stock Google Phone is that you will get OS updates much faster then everyone else with android skinned devices.
If you like android this is an excellent buy.
Yeah, I know that is a huge advantage to the Nexus line, but I also know that if there is a great phone out there, people will root it and develop for it.
Like I said, I don't "need" a new phone, and the only thing making me think twice is the lack of SD card for music and movie space. (I travel a lot so the less electronics I have to pack the better.) I'm just curious if it would be better for me to wait to buy one in a few months or take the plunge Thursday.
The thing about the Nexus S is that it's future proof, by that I mean so many phones out there will only get 2 updates and thats it. With the Nexus S you could keep it as long as you want because you know your going to continually get updates directly from Google.
Too many people pay attention to wether or not there is better hardware on the horizon when they really should pay attention to whether their software will continue to be updated and keep the device alive and youthful.

Who truly needs a dual core cellphone though, honestly most people dont even need a dual core PC
To answer your actual question, the only two that have *strong* rumors that I've heard of, are the Evo Shift and the Playstation phone. As for the Shift, the current rumors don't put its specs as all that impressive (no front camera and snapdragon CPU). Supposedly we'll hear about the Playstation phone in February. I've read that its display is supposed to rival the iPhone 4's, whatever that is. In addition, there is a not so strong rumor that Samsung's next flagship will be in Q1. Which should definitely be better than the Nexus S in specs. Motorola is supposed to unveil some new hotness at CES. Probably actually launched late Q1 or after.
My guess is if you want a phone that clearly blows away the Nexus S, you'll be waiting until Q2 or Q3 of next year.
basically it comes down to this.
If your a t-mobile customer and are not going to leave anytime soon, then the Nexus S is the best phone for you.
If you don't mind leaving t-mobile, then wait because in 4-6 months verizon and sprint will probably both get dual core phones but it'll probably be 12 months for T-Mobile to get off their ass and get one. outside of the galaxy s 2, but thats touchwiz.
Also if you just want a stock android phone, then go for it as well because there won't be another one for a while.
Q2 or Q3 may be too long for me. I've read of the Playstation phone and it seems like it may be pretty cool, but I just don't know if I want to wait that long. Is it going to be unlocked to all carriers? I am in a 2 year contract with T-Mobile due to getting my wife a new phone, leaving is pretty much not an option.
More than likely my desire for a new phone will overtake my ability to wait and I'll be at a Best Buy Thursay morning before work.
Any chance they will add an SD card to the Nexus S in the near future???

no idea how the playstation phone carrier wise is going to work, hopefully it will be all carriers, but who knows.
Unfortountly it's safe to say that they will not be adding in an SD slot to the Nexus S. Between tons of apps to stream music and video, and the 13GB of storage that acts like an SD, it should be enough.
You could always buy the Nexus S then return it before the 30 days if they announce promising phones during CES. I'll be working the registration desk at CES so hopefully I have time to look around to play around with all the new phones and gagdets.

Within the next 3-4 months? Hmm.
And also, better? They may be competitors, depending on how you look at it.
There's the LG Star, Motorola Olympus, PlayStation Phone, Evo Shift, and possible Galaxy S 2. Not all of these are confirmed for next '3-4 months' and even then, they might not even be "better".
Sure, the LG Star packs a Tegra 2. Which, in all honesty, has a GPU which barely tops the Hummingbird. Tegra 2 is nothing to be too excited about. If you want a dual core, you want the dual core Snapdragon or the Orion. The Orion will most likely be the only one paired with a gorgeous Super Amoled which is unmatched but this is also preference. Even then, these may not be out for over 4 months.
Also you need to consider software. Generally, nothing runs faster than AOSP. Nor is as open nor fast to get updated. The Nexus One STILL holds its ground merely because it has Froyo when Galaxy S phones still don't. It may not be as powerful as fast, and it may be sluggish, but it's still "ahead" in a sense. This will probably be the case with the Nexus S and Honeycomb, with the exception that this thing has a friggin Hummingbird, which is theoretically capable of running Quake 3 Arena at 90fps with the 56 fps limit unlocked.
Don't get me wrong though, the Tegra 2 isn't BAD. But it isn't worth jumping the gun over a Hummingbird when the Snapdragon and Orion are around the corner to the Tegra 2. Tegra 2 and Hummingbird is like an 'either, or'. Don't let the Tegra 2 be your deciding factor. It's all about the carrier, the way the phone feels to you, and just personal preference in general. If you think the LG Star is hot, then that's what you should get. If you think the Nexus S is hot, then that's what you should get. They will probably perform about equal.

The thing about the PlayStation Phone is that well, it's clunky and huge, and potentially ugly.
I'll tell everyone a secret android is all about software so even if someone puts out a quadcore phone that still won't let it get the newest updates any faster. After 2 years of owning stock android phones I have read thousands of posts of people complaining about why their super phone has yet to get the latest update. Even nexus users had a thread that was 5000 posts of them yelling at Google because 2.2 was a month late.

The only problem is that Android isn't built and optimized (yet) for more than one core. The dual core isn't going to be making a huge impact probably for another six months or more. If you are looking for a phone now, it sounds like the Nexus S is it.
I think this thread convinced me finally to get the NS
Are you guys sure you want a dual core phone? Because, you know, there are already rumors of a quad core phone coming out in 2012 or whatever. Might as well wait for it.
I'm on TMobile... I won't be waiting around. I'm grateful this phone is releasing because after that you got the MT4G's childish face looking you in the eye. And who knows how soon TMO will drop us another gem that competes w/ the NS.

42fps nenamark + 67 fps neocore @ lg star... 1-8fps more for tegra in comparsion to hummingbird is way less then i thought and not worth an upgrade (yet) .... the difference between snapdragon and hunmingbird is much bigger regarding the gpu
Edit: getting 47.1fps on my sgs in nenamark... 59fps at neocore(seems to be limited to 59...) sooo where's the point in tegra2 anyway?

Hey mklgee, you mentioned buying the Nexus S and then returning within 30 days. Is this an option Best Buy does with smartphones? If so, that is an interesting idea if something does pop up soon after the Nexus release.
After reading these discussions, I think I will just go ahead and get the Nexus S on Thursday. I do wish it had an SD card though. I currently have a 16gb SD card in my Cliq that is filled with music, pics, and app info. I just hope a phone doesn't come out say in April that is so much better to make me remourseful.
Thanks for the discussion points guys.

Serious Question. Stupid Posts are not allowed. LG Optimus 2X in Jan. will you buy?

http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/23/lg-optimus-2x-dual-core-android-phone-hits-europe-in-january-pe/
the Dual Core Phone is coming in less than 1 month. if anything it sounds like LG wants to kill the nexus S before it gets a chance.
Today you have the option to buy Nexus S. or Pre order the Dual Core phone with Tegra 2 GPU for max gaming perforamnce along with better camera and an SD card option and 1080p video recording capability
downside its 2.2 and unless it gets rooted early, 2.3 will take a while to be out.
seriously . i didnt know that they would release it so soon.
I do not particularly like LG at all, so I'll pass until someone else looses a dual-core into the wild.
No thanks. I'll be sticking with the nexus until the end of next year when a Dual-Core N3 is announced.
I like my updates a lot, tyvm

Yeah, I agree the phone SEEMS like it's going to be absolutely amazing, and it very well may be. But I don't want to wait for updates and/or devs to get the latest and greatest software.
And as someone else said, I'll wait for the Nexus 3 or whatever it will be called.

Yes its much more powerful. its from Nvidia after all
and i agree i hate the LG branding too.
No question the Tegra 2 device is the lastest and greatest based on dual chip solely. Its a monument release despite launching with 2.2. I'm not a gamer so that aspect doesn't interest me at all. I always keep two devices (1)cdma (2)gsm, for geek reasons. I really want to get both devices in my hand, then make a decision. We all know it will be the Tegra 2 device.
delivered with my Super Sonic Boom
Nah i hoped for 30-40% more power ... there is no need to take this over future Orion based phones.
http://news.softpedia.com/newsImage...he-Test-Deemed-Faster-Than-Hummingbird-4.png/
BTW. I lost hopes in NV after huge fail in dedicated PS3 GPU.
I'm not a massive fan of LG phones, even if the specs are good. Bearing in mind I've still not decided on an NS yet. I think it's a good step though, as someone has to push the dual core tech forward. When Samsung (which I have nothing against) or HTC start pushing the tech in their own form, whether it's Tegra, Orion or something from Qualcomm, I'll be more excited

Somebody know what is top LG android phone right now available in market ?
Only time will tell whether the Opt 2X is worth it. Which is why I say this is a brink in mobile technology -- the standard is changing. Nexus S represents generally the best of an era that is ending (era of single core, 3G, etc). It might be worth waiting to some. No one can tell (meaning, not people who praise dual-core, or people who try to say dual-core is useless/wouldn't get first dual-core, etc.) for now.
As for the direct/clean Google updates, there are ways to work around that with other phones (flashing ROMs, etc.). If the Opt 2X succeeds, you can be sure the dev. community will be supporting the device with those sorts of specs.
But again, time will tell. I want to get (and like) the Nexus S as much as the next guy, but I'm waiting a bit. If the rumors are true, and that dual-cores will come early 2011, the wait is not far off. Also, the slew of issues the Nexus S seems to be having (a quick glance at the threads here will show tons of concerns) is serving as a huge deterrent. I actually like Samsung products, but it's becoming clearer and clearer that Google/Sammy rushed the Nexus S out.
Can you name 1 game, no strike that, 1 APP that doesn't run flawlessly on the Nexus S already? Honestly, having a more powerful processor is not the answer, the software is what needs work and it has been that way for over a year.
Software has been lacking while hardware keeps improving, which is why we're still stuck in 2006 when it comes to game development.

people said the same thing when Nexus 1 was out then Galaxy S was released. they all run the same things. it just it runs better on Galaxy S.
and i assume the same thing will happen for future games for example.
its not just the aps. the thing has HDMI out to play video and games on ur TV. it plays videos at 1080P. it RECORD videos at 1080 and a better GPU . its just all rounder a better specs phone. and its less than 1 month away.
I'm just waiting for a phone that has a 4.3" screen that is smaller than the size of the Nexus S. Phones have way too much useless glass/plastic around the screen that serve no purpose. Performance I could care less, they all work fine for me. Hell, I thought the HTC Aria was pretty snappy when I had it.
Can you provide a link that proves it has a SAMOLED screen?

@ll_l_x_l_ll
Forgive me for being offtopic for a moment, but I must ask, why are you here on these forums? Most of the posts I see from you are "LOL NEXUS S SUX!!!1!!11!" so I have to ask. Are you trying to convince people that they made a bad purchase and whatever phone you're currently using is better? Not trying to start a flamewar, merely curious about your intentions.
As far as your question regarding LG Optimus 2X, my answer is no. It runs what looks like a TouchWiz derivative and I detest TouchWiz. Its not that I hate all layovers, it's that I hate ugly/cartoony layovers. I don't mind SenseUI at all and actually wish that Google would incorporate some of their widgets into stock Android. And, personally, I don't understand the complaint about the lack of a microsd card on the Nexus S. Is 16gbs not enough? It is for me. Then again, I'm a guy who's had the same computer for the last two years and just barely made it halfway through the 500gb hard drive.
Dual-core processors are definitely the future, but nothing out there right now is optimized to take advantage of it and it will be some time before they do. Would today's apps run better? Probably. Would they run better to justify purchasing another phone? Not for me, yet. Also the 1080p video recording is neat, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've used the camcorder feature. Further, who the heck is gonna play phone games on their TVs? lol I can't imagine trying to play Angry Birds on a 42" screen.
On the topic of the screen, a quick googling of the specs seems to pull up it's just a TFT normal LCD screen like the MT4G, EVO, or Droid series. There was a picture LG sent to Phandroid showing their screen to be better than SAMOLED/Retina, but it was a photoshopped image made to generate buzz.
no not going to buy, because there is currently is no real world advantage to have a Dual Core phone. Hell most people dont even have dual core PCs

dual core worth the wait?

My Nexus one just broke and I thought about just getting the Nexus S. However, I've been told to get a crappy phone and wait until the dual cores hit full swing. I was also told that once dual cores are the standard that Google and other manufacturers will make their OS predominately multi-threaded based.
I've been advised to get the LG Optimus now or getting something crappy like the Motorola spice and wait for the dual core.
better wait a little for better
Depends on what you need and want really.
If you like endless fun with rooting, etc. Nexus S for sure.
Otherwise, jump on the dual core train.
I rooted the N1 and had fun putting different ROMs. However, when things got busy I found it to be a low priority. I honestly want a stable smartphone. One that doens't require constant restarting, etc...
Dual-core is nice and zippy but I don't see a big difference between it and a premium 1Ghz single core phone. I am very happy with the MT4G at the moment and have had it since Day 1. I will be waiting for Kai-El, but the SGSII is tempting if it does indeed come to tmobile. I would suggest you to save money and find a good deal on the xda marketplace for a single core phone then upgrade to Kai-El when it comes out. Good luck! Hope I helped.
The way I see it, there's a couple options you can go with.
1) Wait and see. This option is the most boring, but possibly has the most potential. However, I wouldn't recommend it-- unless you're on a regional carrier or Sprint, there's going to be a dual-core option for you immediately (and even then, that's going to change in a matter of days for the latter).
2) Buy an older, cheaper, less capable smartphone off-contract to keep yourself amused, then sign up for a dual-core phone when one strikes your fancy. This isn't a bad idea-- get an old phone that developers have already cracked wide open, get your fill of mods and custom roms, then switch to the dual-core phone when you feel performance is no longer up to snuff. Right now, dual-core isn't imperative for a silky-smooth user experience, but you damn well know it will be going into the future. Don't sign a contract for a phone with one core if you feel like you need to get the most out of the UI for the majority of that two-year period.
3) Take the plunge right away. Unless you're on Verizon like me, there shouldn't be much of a dilemma with dual-core phones. The Sensation 4G is nothing short of a triumph, the Evo 3D is both novel and amusing, and the Atrix 4G is gonna be even better than it already is once it gets Gingerbread and dumps the old MotoBlur. The trick with Verizon is that its only dual-core phone right now is the Droid X2, which lacks LTE. Still, that's what I bought, and I feel confident with the purchase. It's gonna be ready for whatever software's thrown at it over the next year or two.
imho, since you're interested in dual core, better wait a bit. See what will be announced till the end of year or begining 2012.
In the meantime, could grab a cheap lg optimus one which still has plenty juice left in it for many months to come and customize the sh1t out of it with plenty roms and kernels and the upcoming update to gb.
This way you'll have something to tincker with while standing by on the safe side to see what plans the companies have on dual core
Yes

You are not going to see difference between single and dual core.
All the games I play run max fps even in single core.
Also you dont need dual core to browse website.
Really depends on what you want(battery life, ram, screen size, screen type).
I own desire hd and galaxy s II now.
Played with galaxy S, atrix, g2x.
I prefer desire hd over all because of screen size and mod.

[Q] best phone to get in the next 3 months?

Looking to upgrade from my Tilt2; (exchange email/calender/contacts auto-sync is important). Also important, GPS, phone usage(lol), internet browsing, typing for texting, and emails. Camera.
My initial choices (carrier ATT)
Infuse 4g (4.5")
Galaxy sgII 4g and dual core processor, and android 2.3(4.3")
` - after September 18th for AT&T I hear
or wait for a future phone:
I.E.
Nexus Prime? (October? worth the wait? and why?),
Google?,
HTC Titan (windows O.S.)?,
Other's on the near Horizon?;
etc.
I'm not an Apple person, lolol.
I don't want to bite the bullet on yesterdays technology if something is 2-3 months away (since I will wait 2 years for another upgrade); I don't believe LTE will take hold until another year or two anyway, so that will be a good time to upgrade again.
Any insight or opinions are appreciated.
First off, someone can't tell you the best phone to get. Everyone is different and sees things differently. One thing that you see necessary and better than something else, could very well be a different view than someone else has. That's why carriers make different phones. Not everyone will like, for example, Sammy's Galaxy Note, so they also released other phones around the same time.
If you're on Verizon, I'd say wait. The Bionic is out today, but you should wait until the Primes(Droid or Nexus) and the Vigor, and maybe the Titan come out. Then you'll be able to make a fair decision since you can actually test out the phone, see what type of dev support it has here, etc.
Best way to find the best phone for YOU is to go out and try them.
Yes, per my post it is AT&T for the carrier.
Of those devices you listed do you know that they are coming out for ATT and when?
Next, asthetics are less critical than functionality to me. Nonetheless I have big hands, and as I mentioned I use a tilt2, and although once I've narrowed this down I will go put the final contenders in my hand. I'm not going to waste my time doing that until I've got a list of devices narrowed down based on performance and functionality. (besides the dealers don't seem to know much about the devices, which is my I'm posting here!!!) Lastly, most all of the objectives I have for evaluating performance and function cannot be tested in the store... and there would not be enough time in the store if I could, lol. For AT&T, the Galaxy S 2 appears to be the absolute best phone coming in the next 3 months. The Infuse, if it were updated to Android Gingerbread, would be just as good...maybe better because of the larger display.
I am not exactly sure when the Galaxy S 2 comes out, if its in the next 3 months, i would get it. That is my opinion, I am using the Galaxy S, so i kind of have a biased opinion. The phone is great, it has its flaws though, as does every other device on the market. Overall though, it is a great device and i know the Galaxy S 2 will only be better.
Thanks for the input, yes, I was surprised to see that the newer phone drops from 4.5 to 4.3", but the hardware and software are better on paper.
Supposedly the GS2 comes out after Sept 18th, even if it turns out to be Mid October that is soon enough for me. I'll go put one in my hand in October, and see what the latest news is for November/December and make my "final answer".
I really want a GS2 but im not sure if my cellular company is even going to get the GS2, if they do, it will be one with less features. I hope helped you like you were looking for, I cant wait to see what others suggest, hopefully some good ones.

This is where research comes into play.

Oh couldn't tell since you mentioned Verizon smart phones. The Vigor will probably have a AT&T counterpart...may be later down the line though. Seems like HTC likes to keep similar phones on all 4 carriers.
best get the iphone 5
Palm Treo, they're very reliable and offer a wide range of modern features..Though not as appealing as a iPhone 5 or Optimus or Prime, it's still quite the contender. The Palm OS contains features for the business person and many good classic games like PacMan or Tetris. Hope this post gives you an insight on the best phone for you.

What's wrong with offering my honest opinion? He did say the best phone, and I gave him a top notch choice . The treo can hold its ground against the scary iPhone 5G or any fancy dual core device, it does feature 3D accelerated graphics, which is also avail on iPhone, making these very similar in specs.

Hmm, is there an AT&T launch date? any specs released?
edit: latest info I have found... I can't believe it is really a month from launch and no specs are confirmed... weird.

final conclusion, there should be 3-4 big smart phone releases, but likely not all will be out until beginning to mid of November. So I'm going to wait to find out more about all of their specs once released, as well as put a few of them in my hand once they hit stores.
I think for me the main choices will be between the HTC Titan, the GS2, and the Nexus Prime (or whatever name it finally has); If I wasn't so anti-apple, the Iphone5 will also be a contender and should be released within a month.

Why Would You Upgrade?

Alright guys this is becoming ridiculous, theres like 20 posts about wether or not you should buy the new transformer. Ok, you want the latest and greatest? Then stop bugging other people about it.
I love to browse this forum about my device, TF101, I do not want to hear about the Transformer Prime. Go post in the XDA general forum and clutter that section.
Honeycomb was a rushed project to compete with the iPad, therefore there are a lot of bugs and our dev community does its best. With the recent release of ICS this will be fixed. There is hardware acceleration and many other optimizations for phones and tablets alike. This device and other tablets will soon become beastly, because of a software upgrade.
Really, who needs a quad core? Go buy a laptop then, gaming was made for consoles, so dont buy a tablet for your gaming needs. If you do not enjoy the TF101 for at least until the middle of 2012 you are pretty ungrateful fo this amazing piece of technology.
The Tegra 2 is not outdated yet! Please take into mind this post when deciding to post about the prime, most of us do not care.

This makes me feel a shame that I have but one thanks to give in support!
Personally I would like to see a new section for the Transformer Prime. I'm certain it will be an instant hit and certainly there are some Devs that will be all over it as well.
You really think its going to be unlocked? Keep dreaming as Asus has locked down the last 3 months of the first version and the slider. There is almost zero chance they will suddenly unlock the TF2.

Quad-core isn't for just games -.- Android is built around multitasking, and it utilizes everything it can for that. A dual-core tablet or phone can multitask faster, better, and more efficient than a single core can. Therefore, a quad-core can, theoretically, multitask x2 better than a dual-core device.
Tablets are starting to be made to REPLACE laptops. Have you seen quad core laptops? They are heavy and big. Have you seen the thinnest of the Transformer Prime? Having the power of a quad core in a extremely small package is great. Just because you want a laptop that has a quad core doesn't mean you are ungrateful, it just means you're trying to get the newest and the best things, and there is nothing wrong with that.
From what you're saying, you mean to tell me that getting a new car with more horsepower, more cargo room, and has a higher MPG isn't worth getting just because you bought the old model a couple of months ago? If it's gonna save you time, money, and headaches, then it definitely is.
Oh and you have no right calling anyone ungrateful just because they want/like to upgrade to the newest thing. Just because you don't see a need in it or want to upgrade doesn't mean other people don't, and that the people that do are wrong..
I believe that when there is enough interest and support then there is a possibility. The Droid X was a perfect example.

I understand it will technically be able to do things "relatively" faster, but I did not this thread to argue against those who want to purchase it. I am mainly arguing if you want the device great, now don't ruin our Transformer forum with countless threads. These threads can all be in the main general section of XDA.
Realistically though if you bought a car a few months ago and already buying another, you have money to spend. I am not sure of your financial situation(I also do not want to know), but most people don't have that kind of money nowadays...

All of this is irrelevant, the OP's point was this is a section for the Eee Pad Transformer and not the transformer prime and I agree.
Here's the thing people, pragmatically speaking, TF3 will merely be a difference in degree of speed but not of kind.
What you currently do with your TF2 (ie: web surfing, emails, reading, etc) media consumption, you'll being doing on your TF3, but not more.
That's because Android apps simply hasn't the variety of functionality or robustness as those made by bigger companies with deeper pockets for Windows OS.
Example: Polaris Office is a joke, loses formatting everywhere, crashes all the time. You STILL can't print directly from within each program. Programs generally lack the quality and seriousness of Windows programs.
TF3 will remain as a media consumption device, and so far, most reasonable people will see little reason to need a faster web browser or email reader.
I bet TF3 won't have the RAM memory requirements to run Windows 8, and even if it did, it won't run all the programs as those for x86 PCs.
So what's the point in upgrade?
I will be saving my money for a real Windows 8 slate when and if it runs > 8 hours.
Agreed. Can't thank you enough.

Oh stop! Take what he said in the spirit it was intended, to APPRECIATE the Transformer TF-101 - and the last I checked the forum was created for the original. Not that the Prime is not going to be absolutely awesome, and... it will have it's own Section on XDA for all the lucky folks who a) can afford it. It is NOT going to be the bargain that the current Transformer is, that much is clear. and b)The folks who always need the latest, greatest hardware.
Meanwhile, I enjoyed the first 2 or three discussons about the TF 2, but enough already. That was his point too. You don't go into the Droid 1 forum to read and drool about the Droid 4 or whatever goofy new toy is about to be released. You go there becauseyou have a Droid 1 and you love it and want to learn more about it, and maybe make it better.
As I said, the guy didn't post to argue that the original is better, just that he loves it and wants to see this forum stay focused on that. sheesh! Some people want to argue that the new Mustang is superior to any 60's Pony car. Maybe. and maybe it doesn't freaking matter so much. It's all good!
Amen to SmartAs$Phone's post..
TOTALLY AGREE. its like every person who "thinks" they found a new link w/ a little info on it has to open a whole new thread. Dont you think most people glance @ other sites? ridiculous. or my favorite ones " should I wait or should I buy? is the TF a laptop replacement or should I just get a laptop? I just got it, can someone give me a list of the best roms, how to root? french toast or waffles?" OMFG its like they dont have a mind of their own. AND to put the icing on the cake they want to get smart when you tell them to search. AMEN to this thread.....now only if it would put a stop to the BS ones
At the very least post in a transformer prime subsection, not the TF101's
