I hate that notification because I use my phone for my alarm and it lights up in the middle of the night. Has anybody figured out a way to turn that notification off? I have looked and not found anything on the phone or in the forums.
If you can't find a way to suppress the notification, do what I do...turn the phone over. If you don't have the Body Glove case that lifts the screen off the furniture and are concerned about scratches, put it on a paper towel or similar item to protect it. I use a wash cloth.
would also like to know how to turn that stupid notification off - software based and not using a towel though
I don't know much yet but I was digging around in root explorer and if you go to /system/media there are a bunch of .qmg files for battery related stuff, and two of them are named chargingwarning.qmg and Disconnected.qmg. Could one of these be the file for the fully charged notification?

Probably not because the notifications are all text, and QMGs are the 3d files used at boot-up. Most likely those animations are used in the battery meter that is displayed when the phone is off (turn your phone off and plug it in).
This won't help with the light, but the sound can be fixed.

seriously? we are all STILL dealing with this? has anyone found a solution to prevent this notification from popping up?

It is confirmed fix in the 2.2 release - at least the JI6 build we are all playing with. They moved it to the notification bar.
Bumpage!
Been a lurker but just recently got my Captivate. Great forum here! Looking forward to contribute as well.
Well my issue with the "Fully Charged" battery notification is the display will stay on for the entire night. When I wake up in the morning, I see the phone's display on with the notification. Is this normal? I think this was happening just recently but I can't remember. Shouldn't the display turn off after the set amount time of inactivity? Thanks.
Nevermind, I figured it out. Within the development settings, the option to never allow the phone to sleep while plugged into the usb was checked. I wonder why that was checked.

Ok, I THOUGH disabling that option would put the display to sleep when the notification comes on but it doesn't. =(
Is this normal behavior? The screen stays lit after the notification is on? The only reason why i'm concern is if I'm plugging it in night after night and it's on that particular screen for hours at a time, there might be some burn in issues.

Not likely. It's not a rear projection tv or a CRT monitor. Burn-in problems died with those.

Guess you haven't seen some of the demo Captivate at your local AT&T stores. Seeing the burned in images on those beautiful SAMOLED screen just kills a little bit of me.
In any case, so it's normal for the screen to take on after the message notification comes on?

None of the models I saw had burn-in at all. I got my phone on August 30th of this year. The phone had been on the shelves since July. But I would imagine it's normal for the screen to come on.
I got my phone only three weeks ago, so the phone sitting on display has probably been there a long time. And yeah, samoled screen can get burned in. well guess I'll have to charge it during the day time for now until I can figure out a way to disable the pop up.
Oh my worry is that the screen might be in the on state with the same image for hours while I sleep. That's something I can't leave to chance.

As long as you're not using a Samsung Dock or have the Stay Awake option checked off in settings, it won't stay on. I watch my phone every night. It usually finishes charging long before I ever go to sleep (case in point, it's 3:11am, and the phone was done around 1am) and the screen always times out and turns itself off. It doesn't come back on either.

Ok, yeah that's what I figured. Thanks for confirming it for me. I do have that option "not checked". Something might be preventing it to fall back asleep.
Is there any log within the file system which might keep track of system events? I might have to do a little digging around.
Thanks for your input.

I don't believe there's any logs, but you might have some luck installing logcat from the market and checking that after one night

Charged notification PROBLEM SOLVED !
PROBLEM SOLVED ! NO COST !
I saw this suggestion in another forum and it WORKS, so I'm passing it on !
Set the global notifications to SILENT.
Set the notification on Gmail to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
Set the notification on messaging to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
You'll still have a tone when you 1st plug the phone in to the charger, but NO tone when it's fully charged.
Where are these settings? I can't find them any where.
No notification light?
Ok wtf...
Not even a running charge indicator, no notification light? I mean it was so awesome on the nexus one and most every other android device with some form of glowing indicator light...
Now i dont know if a message or anything is waiting i have to keep turning on the phone. What a pain... Cant put a led in there somewhere?
Or is my phone screwed up?
Also, on two phone calls tonight the phone shut down and restarted...............

I dont have a NS yet...I have been reading the boards and trying to decide if I want one but I have a Fascinate and since its been rooted and debinged its a good phone but stock it was crap. I use something called BLN to notify me when I have a text or email. It lights up your buttons at the bottom. Its in the market but I think your rom has to be made to use it..I'm not sure about that but you might want to investigate that...it works better than NoLED.
I have no led running now. It works. I have it set to blink So it flashes the TV off animation which is cool.
Honestly. If You already have a galaxy s phone don't bother with the ns. I had my n1 since the day it came out I needed a new phone. There are many things ivwill miss about it. Like the desktop doc.....
More threads about this? Really? Can we have a mod lock this please...

Thats kinda what I been thinking...
Best buy couldn't get my upgrade info so I paid full pop. Was on phone with t mobile and bestbuys system couldn't get it happening so I can still get another phone suplimented. Tried a mytouch 4g but returned it. So much t-mobile garbage on it plus gotta pay for wifi teather
BLN ftw, wait for a kernel that implements BackLightNotifications and then download Blinky which makes your softkey's blink ever few seconds when you get notifications.
So awesome. 3 out of 4 calls ended with the phone restarting
Sounds you guys are having even more trouble than Galaxy S phones, I hope it gets sorted out soon.
I can deal with a dropped call but having the phone restart wtf.... I may un install everything and go from there adding one app at a time

Left hole (circle) is the proximity sensor. Right hole (oval kinda) is the ambient light sensor. Hope this helps.
Does this phone even have a led notification light? thats the dots next to the earpiece right?
I ask because on my phone, i never get any LED flashing notifications when i receive a text, email, miss phone call, or etc.
Ive searched all throughout my settings but to no avail.. help?
Thats not an LED. It doesnt have one! Search. Its been discussed over and over again
i just saw a video on youtube and when they turned on the nexus there was a light that lit up and it looked like it was behind the speaker that u here people talk in.. when your on the phone?? or am i crazy? i just turned my phone on then off and i didnt see any light come on at all?
Nope, no light. Are you perhaps referring to the white speaker grill on the white Nexus 5?
Its the notification LED. If your phone is in standby and you receive a message, then it will blink intermittently.

Is there anything that I can use to turn the led notification off at night time? It's really annoying having it flashing in my room at night time when someone does something on Facebook or a Gmail arrives etc

I use Silent Hours.
Maybe try this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803130
I like Do Not Disturb.
Not only does it control the LED, but it can control all your sounds too. You can set quiet hours, and it can even access your calendars, so that it can automatically set quiet time during meetings. It has separate day and night modes, so, for example, you can have it vibrate during quiet times during the day, but be totally silent at night. You can also set exceptions, so that certain people can call or text you during quiet times.
Works awesome.
I've found ledblinker on the play store. Looks good! Anyone tried it?

LED off in Slient Mode
I know this is a fairly old thread, but I noticed the LED on my Nexus 5 does not blink when it is in Silent Mode. Is this this behavior normal? Shouldn't the LED blink regardless of the Sound/Vibration settings?
I put my phone on silent every night and the LED still blinks.
I use Trigger. I started using it for NFC tags but recently bought it for the other features. One thing I do is set a trigger at 10:00 PM, Sunday through Thursday, that puts the phone on silent and turns off the notification light. Then at about 6:20 AM, it does the opposite to turn them back on.

That's really odd...
I tested it a few times and no matter what I try, the LED does not blink when the phone is set to silent (No sound/no vibration). I mean, it's great, because it keeps LED notification off at night, but I wish I could find out what makes it behave that way.

Lightflow used to blink even when no notification arrived. Sometimes. So I switched to ledblinker. It's just perfect, reliable and has the ability of "sleeping time"

It's normal. Apps such as lightflow can enable a charging light but there is no stock charging notification light.
Why didn't you just turn it on and use it? No need to charge the battery prior to usage.

Yes it can. This is exactly what I do with Light Flow on my N5. There are three different settings for "low battery", "charging" and "fully charged". So I have it blink red rapidly when battery hits 15%. Then, I have it solid yellow when charging. Finally, when it hits 100%, it changes from solid yellow to solid green to let me know when it's done charging. It works flawlessly. Obviously, you can set whatever color you want for these different settings.

Lightflow is pretty awesome. You can have different LED colors for different notifications from various apps and control their pulse rate. Paid version lets you customize for 3rd party apps.

So has anyone done any research to figure what the battery drain, if any at all, is caused by the LED. Curiosity got the best of me and i had to ask.
I don't think the LED causes any noticeable battery drain. They use extremely low amounts of electricity.
