Unbricking your LG Optimus Regard - General Questions and Answers

So while tinkering with my phone, the LG optimus Regard, I bricked it. Then I found a rom for the LG Motion MS-770 witch works with my phone, however after flashing this rom, my phone is now on MetroPCS. I need to know how to get my phone back on cricket (NO ROMS AVALIBLE FOR THE LG OPTIMUS REGARD, ANYWHERE) so how do I hack my carrier back to cricket.
Also does anyone know how I can change my Model number back to LW-770 as opposed to MS-770
Thanks in advance, please anyone help me as I am without a phone until someone replies.
Issue SolvedFollow these instructions to Unbrick your LG Optimus RegardOr switch your carrier back to cricketFor all those encountering similar issues, or those in need of the stock firmware for the LG Optimus regard (LW-770) use this website: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=xxxx Where xxxx should be your IMEI, it will lead you to a text page with unclickable hyperlinks that you should copy and paste into your browser. I have not tried the global version. DO NOT CHANGE ESN TO IMEI it is not neccisary and will lead you to a blank page. Use, UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe to convert the .cab file to .kdv and use KDZ_FW_UPD.exe to flash it. If you need those files, they come together in a .zip file titled KDZ_FW_UPD_EN a quick google search will return proper results. In order for the above steps to work, you have to put your Regard into Download mode (Full power down, then while powering up, hold Vol Up, Vol Down & Power).
Full credit for finding the rom goes to Vosetal, I spent all day crawling the csmg.lgmobile.com and could not for the life of me figure out how to search my ESN as it is entirely inaccessible, and no FTP access permitted.
Hope this guide helps you unbrick your phone

You already have a thread open - please do not open another one for the same thing. Reported.

Ok Simon, sorry, Its just I wanted a different title as my previous thread was asking for the rom for my phone. Since no one has it, I am contempt with this rom from the other carrier. As thus my request has changed, now I want instructions for changing my carrier to Cricket.
Please Admin, erase my previous threat not this one, as this one is more relevant.

[Q] Please take mercy - Fastboot RSD Issue XT925

Good Afternoon everyone
I'm of average knowledge and have had an issue that im hoping you kind people can assist with. I will happily add more details if necessary but I'll try and keep it simple and clear for now for my current sitation and what I'm looking to do.
I've been happily using AOKP on my XT925 for a few months now and updating it every now and again. After an infinite bootloop issue last night, I was kind of buggered but after toing and froing I got into Fastboot. After not much and desperate to attempt was working I used Mr Parkinsons 2.0 tool, and with it listing flashing to stock XT925 / XT926 as its option 1, I clicked that. Successfully it flashed it with the package it uses and booted fine. I have functionality, on the phone settings strangely its now listing as XT926 but again it works HOWEVER unbeknowst (probably stupidly) to me its a VZW American default and naturally won't recognise my SIM and I can't make calls.
I'm currently trying to flash it again through Fastboot with RSD Lite 6.15 to a Stock Xt925 Firmware, ones I acquired through the thread in the XDA Dev. I'm based in the UK and my SIM / Network provider is O2. The nearest fit Firmware wise seems to be the Orange UK package or the Vodafone France ones.
The Orange UK package won't decompress in RSD as it's saying 'the filename may be too long'. The Vodafone France one will decompress - however originally it said 'unknown flashboot command - flash failed' (getvar). Having done some reading I deleted the sole line 'Getvar' string in the XML through notepad, saved it and tried again. This time is said something along the lines of 'Flash failed 2/22 - phone returned'. I've tried Googling this error and all the forums that mention it seem to be in Spanish or French.
I'm tired and it's been a long day for family issues - however I could do with having my phone back on an even keel. Please can someone help or at least point me in the right direction? I'd be very VERY grateful for any dialogue.
SHORT VERSION OF PROBLEM: Currently running the Stock Recovery Package included in Mr Parkinsons 2.0 utility. Phone is functional bar not recognising my SIM and Im in the UK on O2 and it's US centric. Concerned that in phone settings it says XT926. Recovery and fastboot options available. RSD Lite is returning primarily saying 'flash failed 2/22'
Are there any other utilities to recommend that would get me where I want to be other than RSD?
Please go easy on me! If I've not explained myself very well then and someone may know the answer then I'm happy to be more descriptive in terms of details
Additional details:
- On startup its saying 'SIM is from unrecognised source
- My current system version is 9.16.6.XT926.Verizon.en.US / Baseband: VANQUISH_BP_100730.081.64.09P
After some playing I resolved this.
In terms of anyone who should be faced with this issue, the answer lies in deleting more of the .xml file in your zip that your flashing via RSD
I browse this forum every now and again so reply if you need assitance and need me to be more specific, otherwise mods can lock this as closed.

LG Leon not getting 3G/4G in Spain

Hi,
I am sorry that I post this message in the wrong place, I believe it belongs to this thread
I have just return from US and I got a LG Leon from MetroPCS to sty connected while there. Now that I am back I unlocked the phone via unlock app. My surprise came when I put me Spanish SIM card (Jazztel) and the phone only gets 2g connection. I have been searching the net and I found some threads on the topic but I can not make any of them work on my phone. First I tried changing the radio to Europe mode through *#*#4636#*#*, and I enter the test page but when I click the phone info button I get a message that states that I can not run that application on this device. I thought it was because I wasn't root so I rooted it. But before I could root I had to downgrade by flashing an older firmware. No way, I get the same message. I tried the hidden menu to see if I could find an entry to change the radio mode, or any type of LTE configuration. Hidden menu on my phone though 277634#*#. I also tried the anycut option, but I do not get any facility called LTE configuration or similar.
I am desperate and I do not know how to proceed. Any help is welcome
Thanks in advance

Lg G4 hard brick... need help please wiling to donate cash.

Hi everybody..
I'm in desperate need of help. After attempting to root my g4 somehow something went wrong and the phone is completely dead with no sign of life . I know there isn't a way yet to unbrick the g4 but I'm hoping somebody out there is working on it and maybe can help me out.. I'm willing to donate for the help Thank you !
What exactly are your symptoms? Does it not even turn on? Have you tried getting into download mode? How exactly did you try to root it? What were your steps and are you able to identify where you went wrong exactly?

I was trying to gain root access following this method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/root-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765. everything seemed to go well but after it was complete the phone wouldn't start and it booted only to a message on the LG LOGO with something failed. At that point I was still able to get to download mood so I tried to restore it to stock doing this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848. again the process went like it should but at the end the phone went dead with no signs of life, No led light, No vibration, can't turn on to anything and only gets detected on the computer as " qhsusb bulk ". My guess is I used the wrong KDZ files
I would appreciate it if you can help.
It indeed sounds like you have a hard brick, in which case the device can't be brought back to life.
However for chance, and for future reference. Which kdz did you try to flash? Assuming your device is the ATT model, then did you download the Puerto Rico kdz?
Because there is not a KDZ or TOT for the ATT H810 model the Puerto Rico KDZ from Claro will recover an ATT soft brick. These are labeled H810PR.

Maybe you downloaded the wrong img file from the first post? It has to not only match your phone, but ALSO match the version of the firmware you're currently running. That's why this method here is better:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
Because you just make a backup img of your system partition and then inject root into that and you have a new rooted system partition img file along with your original system partition image file so you can go back to stock if you want some time later. I'm guessing you tried flashing the wrong version of your firmware. Do you know what version you were on? Looks like the only one listed on that thread is version g. I'm on version b, so if I were to have tried that, I would also have had an error when trying to boot. Had you made a backup of your original system partition as mentioned here you should have simply been able to dd it back and you'd be up and running. However now it looks like you've "hard bricked" your phone indeed. Out of curiosity, which KDZ file did you use? What's the file name that downloaded?
It looks like there are some utilities created that can UNBRICK some phones when they get into this state, but it looks like they have had custom scripts written for the partitions of those phones, for example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERZvlJIC9dE
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/solution-recover-from-hard-bricked-oneplus-one.104943/
Maybe someone familiar with how those apps run could modify that app for unbricking the G4s? Currently however, there doesn't seem to be anything you can currently do to immediately fix your phone. So ... can you get it exchanged or replaced????

Honestly, bring the phone to ATT and tell them it said an update was available, and upon accepting it...the phone ended up in this state. They will most likely exchange it for you.

Any chance they can give you the original receipt and that way you could possibly send it in for warranty work.

Canadian Stylo (LGH636) Hard Bricked

As the name suggests, I being a very smart person decided to flash a KDZ for the T-Mobile version at 25% battery. It either died during the flashing or wasn't going to work in the first place, about 80% through the flashing the screen went black and I was left with QHSUSB_BULK. The screen does not turn on, also while charging the LED doesn't turn on. Can anyone help me
P.S, I am with Wind
Did you tried entering the recovery mode?
,,
first of all, can you get back into download mode, or boot into safe mode at all? If so then it's definitely not a hard brick, which means that you might have some hope. So long as you can get it back into download mode, and if you're able to find an appropriate KDZ for your specific model (H636), it might be possible to undo the damage and get your device working again.
But from the sound of it, with the fact that your display doesn't come on, nor does your LED light, it sounds like it's a hard brick. Which means that you're now the proud owner of an LG branded paperweight. If you tried flashing the KDZ from the unbricking guide on the forums, it will only work if your device is already a US T-Mobile or MetroPCS model (H631 or MS631, respectively). Any other model (like the US Boost/Virgin/Cricket models, or non-US variants) will just result in failure, and ultimately a hard brick.
Mines also brick
Hello my lg g stylo also went hard bricked but mine's is a us how can i fix it do i have hope.
Hi I have a canadian LG G stylo (H636) with fido mobile. I want to install a custom ROM as I am sick of the stock ROM. I am pretty new to this area but very excited to learn. Could you provide me the steps and links to the files which I need for this. I appreciate your answers. THanks,
@nicegamer7 There is no known KDZ for the H636 -- you do have a hard bricked device.
@Mike238601 If you have a model that is in the unbrick thread, that has a KDZ available, you can save your device. If there isn't a KDZ available, then you probably have a brick.
Maybe this is useful

Stuck in a loop between custom binary blocked and downloading do not turn off

I turned off and then restarted the developer's mode in my S7 yesterday. When I went to turn it on today, I got the message "Custom binary blocked by FRP Lock. I used power / start / vol down holding all three and came to a screen that wanted to know if I wanted to download (probably Odin). I then pushed two buttons of which one was the start button (the one in the middle of the bottom) and the vol up button, which started the phone trying to download. It got the message Downloading "Do not turn off target". I figured out how to stop that, but when the phone rebooted, it was back to "Custom binary Blocked ..."
The information I need to download firmware (like the CSC), is either in my phone or not common enough to exist in the country lists with their respective phone companies. My phone is an S7 and probably a G930F, although I can't verify that because I can't get into the phone. I would not mind downloading Odin, but I understand that the information regarding CSC_home with regard to who my provider is and what country I'm in is necessary in order to install Odin and I don't know how to find that information or to find the complete model number for the phone.
Thank you for any advice you can give me. I would prefer not to have to use a factory reset on the phone to get it up and running again.
Changing OEM Lock does trigger FRP sometimes, like 2 years ago my friend had the same on his Note5, it wasn't that hard to solve.
You need to verify your device model (written in the download mode's top left corner), then download a recent firmware, flash it via Odin, after booting, it'll ask you about your Google account and in some cases, your Samsung account, too.
Unless you've forgotten them, you should be good.

Thanks very much. I got the info off the download screen.
Do you mean I should go ahead and download Odin and then hope to find the right firmware? That's giving me part of the problem. I downloaded two different versions of Odin
3_v3.11.1
3_v3.12.3
I think to get the right firmware, I would need to know the country 3-letter code, if the phone is dual sim or not and the service provider? Since my service provider is not among those listed (like telekom or O2), can I use "unbranded" for my country? Or is this information for the CSC entry something my provider could provide?
Also, if I enter that into CSC, will I still have the option for Home_CSC? I'm quite interested in trying to keep my data.
And finally, I don't think I set up any account which had to do with the cloud. If an account was needed to verify the operating system, then I hope to be able to figure out what that was.

It doesn't matter. Any firmware will get your phone booting, that's the point, if it was FRP cause you forgot the Google account, then perhaps you should be picky, but since you're not, then it's fine.
CSC gets activated when the phone detects your SIM card, that's how it knows where you are and that's how it sets CSC features provided for your region. If you pulled the SIM out, it won't apply CSC just yet. If you travelled to another country, your CSC will be changed (once you boot into recovery).
What model your phone has, so I can find you some files?

I'm making some progress. I learned you can get the model number off of the recovery screen which I got to with power / vol up / Home and by waiting for the Recovery screen to appear.
I then found a very close firmware in updato, but the last letter was a y instead of a c, so not the perfect model-number-match. That one with the wrong last letter was for my region in the EU. The actual matching firmware ends with a c and I found that firmware on multiple websites, but listed as being from Thailand.
Now, the strange thing is that I bought the phone in Germany for a trip to Thailand and got it unlocked before I went there. Since I'm in Germany and most likely Telekom, and since I've read to trust no website except Updato, which doesn't have the firmware for my exact model number, I've been wondering how to proceed?
You asked for my model numberOne of the non-Updato websites offers the firmware with a checksum with the file, but since updato doesn't have that firmware file, I couldn't know if the checksum was the right one.
So I think what you asked for was the model which is G930FXXU1DQHC
Thanks very much.

That's a very old firmware, it has U1, latest has U8, I had the same device, too.
A trusted, reliable site would be AFH, search for G930F and find large files, that's the firmware.
Hi,
I found the big file of 1.8 gb called G930FXXU1DQHC_DevBase_v4.3.zip and downloaded it and extracted it to a folder I created myself called odin. It's not what I was expecting. It is a whole lot of folders within folders within folders, but none of the files that I would expect to be able to click on for an installation by odin. I was actually expecting three files that were clickable, which I've seen in instructions that utilize Odin to flash the firmware.
The two main folders it produced were ALEXNDR and META-INF. There's a single file at the same level as these two folders called options.prop.
Edit, I will try to attach a screen shot of what I was expecting to get.
More Edit: I'm not finding an installation file, so I think I'm at the point where I need to install Odin, but I don't know whether I install it on my pc or on my phone and if I should install that before I install the firmware. That's the point, isn't it? That Odin is in place to install the firmware?
Also, I can't see any exe files in the zip file I extracted, so I don't know what could be installed.
What is it I should be looking for?
Thank you. You're helping me keep going.
I see you did not get what U1 and U8 means. For an example, this is the latest firmware for Galaxy S7.
But, you downloaded a U1 firmware, which is very old to be believed. Forget about that, download this one, extract it, and flash it via Odin.
Thank you for that information.
The short version: I'm back in! All the stuff below is my journey which was rocky. Had to do some more internet searches, which brought me to another thread here in the forum:
Can't flash firmware, RQT Closed.
Hi! I need help, I was trying to flash Indian firmware (latest) on my Note8 (N950FD) with french rom. But when tried to flash the rom with Odin, start the procces and less than a minute, finished and appears as success, but nothing happened...
forum.xda-developers.com
For others who come after me:
I downloaded the firmware files, started Odin, put the phone in download mode (power / vol down / home), then plugged the phone into the computer and clicked on the boxes one at a time in Odin and was directed to firmware files in Windows Explorer and clicked on the correct one. I wanted to save my data so in the box called Userdata, I entered the CSC_Home file. They were all accepted. Then I clicked on Start in Odin and after a short time, the scrolling of files on the left side ended. That's where the above link comes in which says to try using a more recent Odin, so I tried again with Odin 3.13.1 (with the Chinese figures).
This attempt went better, took longer and then my phone sat and blinked Samsung at me for a very long time. I finally turned Odin off with Exit and then waited some more while the phone was still plugged into the computer. Then it started installing what it had downloaded. At least by now the little Android robot wasn't keeling over anymore.
After that finished, it asked for my pin and accepted it and I got back to the home screen. It then asked if this was my phone number, which it was. And I could see! that it had a charge of 44%.
I then went into Settings and looked for the developers setting and found that OEM was indeed turned off and that probably caused the FRP lock to occur. I turned the developers setting off for now.
I was able to keep my data with one annoyance. Some of the less standard apps are giving me a pop-up when I open them that says the apps are always on, do I want to close them, and there's a feedback button which simply shuts the popup off. You have to keep turning this off. It seems to affect non-standard apps, so I may have to reinstall those. I'll look into that ... tomorrow.
Many many thanks! It was so great to find someone who knew how to help me! I really appreciate it.
