[Q] Sandisk ultra 32gb not working tab 2 - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have bought a 32gb SanDisk ultra class10 for my galaxy tab 2 10.1. The card will not format in the device (errors) so I formatted in windows. The sd card is then recognised in the tab. I then try copy files from the tabs main memory to the micro sd card but then it errors. (I'm usually left with a partially copied file) I then try to delete the file from the sd card using the Samsung default file manager (also tried astro, es file manager etc). It then get the pop up to say the file is deleted ...but it's still on the sd card. I then have to reformat using a pc.
I've tried the micro sd card in windows to copy files to it and it works fine. I've also tried a slower 2gb micro sd card in the galaxy tab 2 to receive files copied from the main memory and it works fine... it also formats fine in the tab.
Any suggestions before i send this back? Is this card incompatible with the tab?
Thanks

Card is purchased from reputable company, I just get an I/o error in solid explorer after about 10mb of copying

I have the same card and nothing but headache from it in my atrix hd. Seems to be working fine in this tab. Try this in windows (will erase evrrything)
Open cmd
Type diskpart
List disk
Select disk (whichever disk number for sdcard)
Clean
Create partition primary
Select partition 1
Format fs=fat32
Assign letter=h
Eject and pop into tab

Could also try EASEUS Partition Manager. I have the 64GB card and had to use the afformentioned program.

I've just posted a FAT32 command prompt formatter in this thread.
You could try that also, no guarantees it'll work but I see no particular reason why it would not.

I got a Sandisk 32GB class 10 ultra, probably the same item from OP. Used it out of the box without any issue, been using it for a couple of weeks now. Its on FAT32 format.

Try a different 32GB Card? I never had an issue with any of my 32GB Cards.

microSD card not showing up on FIleManager

Hi
I recently got a Kingston 8GB class 4 microSD card and installed it onto my captivate , when i connect to windows i can see both my 16GB internal Storage and my 8 GB microSD card , but none of the file managers seem to show the microSD card .
i tried several apps like SDcard speed tester , QSysteminfo etc they all just show the info about the internal Memory and dont really show any info about the microSD card
in the defualt camera option settings theres an option to select stoage and when i select memory card instead of phone and when i connect to windows i can see the photo being stored in my microSD card
also in the filemanager i see a path called SDCard\SD this seems like a soft like to my microSD card
my question is how do i make all these apps to recognize my microSD and say run a speed test on it.
any help appreciated.
Thanks

Not exactly what you are trying to say in this quote here, but sdcard/sd IS your external sd card.

Yes
/Sdcard is the internal storage (sometimes call internal SDcard or phone storage)
/SDcard/SD is your external SD card ( MicroSD)

[Q] Upgrading sd card - rooted, S-ON

Hi folks,
I rooted my phone using the S-on / unlock bootloader with htcdev /superoneclick method. Now I want to move from the original 8 gig card to a new 32 gig card with a minimum of fuss.
Different threads say you can just copy and paste, or that you have to format your card.
Any advice?
FWIW I have some apps running on the sd card but can move them back to the phone or even delete them if necessary.
Thanks in advance for the help!
What you have read is correct!
I have also upgraded to a 16 GB card from the stock 8GB card.
Just as a precautionary measure, On your Windows PC make sure View System Files / Hidden files & folders option is set as visible.
Make sure you do everything with the card inside the Memory Card Reader.
Copy all your content from the old SD card to a folder on your PC.
Insert the new Card in the memory card reader on your computer.
Format your new SD Card.
Paste all the content of your old SD Card (that you backed up earlier in a folder) to your new SD card.
Insert the card in your phone, check for Pictures, Apps.... Enjoy!

Cool, thanks. Just to double check - what format? And did you have to reinstall anything?
Format : FAT32
No, din need to reinstall anything.
If you wish, you could transfer the apps to phone memory from your old SD Card before you begin the process.

Thanks again, that worked fine, no real problems.
I did have to reinstall Modern Combat which was a bit strange but then it remembered where I was in the game. Odd but no hassles.
That game may be a one off case. . . May be that's Y i suggested you to transfer apps from your SD Card to the Phone Memory before changing the SD Card.
Anyways, Cheers !!!

Formatting Sd Card - advice

I'm using a 16 gig micro sd card on my Samsung Galaxy tab 7.0 plus. I want to transfer large files such as mkvs and other stuff. It is currently formatted as fat32 right now. I have read up on other types such as ntfs, ex2, etc...
What is the best option to format my card?
I have also read you can do convert formatting using windows command prompt... is this only for drives or can I hook up my card with the reader and do it this way as well... this would enable me to not have to erase the contents.
thanks

SynergyRom Help (Unable to Format 64gig External Card)

I'm using the rom in the link below called Synergry ROM for my Verizon Galaxy S3 and I can't seem to format my 64gig micro SD card I purchased for Christmas. The only option I have is to mount the drive but every time I mount the drive, it just says that the card is safe to remove. Any suggestions?
My actions are settings>storage>mount SD card. There is no option to format SD card or to unmount the SD card.

Need to Google guiformat and format it to Fat32 on PC. Phone and recoveries will be able to see it. Only drawback is file size is limited to 4GB so movies must be compressed or loaded on Internal.

[Q] SD Card gets mounted as Read Only!

Hi folks
I have a 4gb sandisk sd card
I had a 512 mb ext3 partition and a 128 mb Swap partition
One day it suddenly became "read only"
I can access all files but can't add new.
Can't click pics etc..
I tried formatting via PC
My pc showed an empty disk but when I put the sd card back in all the files were back :/
I have tried DoD 7 passes wipe using MiniTool, unpartitioning the sd card, reformat, changing file system, everything!
But the sd card returns to its original state when I put it back on my phone :/
I've tried it on 3 different androids and a Java based phone.. I own a windows 8 32 bit PC.. with all drivers properly installed and USB slots fully functional.
Any help will be appreciated ASAP
