Hi all
When I'm trying to use my voice text the voice recognition does not work
The voice recognition does work when I use it for Google search
The voice recognition also call work when I'm using it for other apps other than SMS.
How can I get the voice recognition to work for the SMS?
thanks

Hi all
Just testing again. Now my texting using voice works on wifi, but not on carrier data. All other apps that uses voice works on both wifi and carrier data.
Stumped
This is using cm10 nightly with SwiftKey keyboard.

I am on T-Mobile. I use Google Voice for voicemail. If someone calls me while I have Gmail open, it rings in GMail and I can answer it and talk to the caller and everything. Is this normal?
Its a feature. You can disable it in the Google voice settings on the web

Interesting I never noticed before. I thought it only did that if you were on Sprint and did the "integration" thing. Thanks.

Ok I'm going to Mexico soon and since we get charged for texting over there I would like to know if we can text using google voice via WiFi to avoid being charged or does google voice say where I'm at and I get charged? I have my tv linked up with sprint so sprint does know when I text using tv

Google Voice uses the internet to send text. Just make sure you use the Google Voice App and it should work over wifi not mobile network.
Have you ever tried it while ur not in the USA?

I have not, but I know I cant receive or send text messages when I dont have internet on phone. Therefore, it only works when connected to 3g/4g OR wifi. When sending text message through 3g/4g it goes through the internet not the carriers text messaging system. It should work the same if there is wifi in Mexico.
OK i know wifi calling built in doesn't work if I upgrade to ICS/JB.
What I'm curious about is there a way to set up GV with sipdroid say that would call my phone on cellular and my sip # on wifi?
I've been searching all morning, and most guides are about VOIP over data ONLY. Not having the seemless switching like the built in wifi app provides.
Curious if there is a way to do this. Otherwise still stuck on GB for now.
Not sure I understand exactly what sipdroid does..
but google voice works over wifi. it will also use your GV number over data as well if you set it up that way.
I tried two other wifi calling apps which work with GV, but they had terrible call quality compared to the GV app.
I tried it for a couple of weeks, but ended up going back go GB because of that and a couple of things I liked in TW roms.
The app you need is called Talkatone...its voip that logs onto your google voice account...syncs with your gv contacts and also allows texting all over wifi or data

You could also take a look at GrooVeIP....

Groove IP had terrible call quality when I used it. Sometimes got stuttering and patches of silence (and this was on a 15MB 4-bar wifi connection). And the other person said they got a lot of echo. I tried different settings of echo cancellation, but nothing fixed it.
it might work better for you, but you'll probably need to try a bunch of them out.
Ok
Take a look at Auto Air. It allows communications on either WiFi or cellular. Set up your sip app to work only on WiFi and that might do it for you....

I have a rooted nexus 5 on stock rom and I am using youmail for voicemail. For some reason I have the icon in the status bar that says I have a voicemail. (not a youmail icon but the regular voicemail icon)
How do I get this to go away?
Are you on Sprint? I could only get rid of mine by using Google Voice to put the VM in my missed call log.

I am on sprint but I use YouMail which is a similar voicemail service to Google voice. YouMail works fine. Calls are being forwarded to it and I am receiving voice mails from it. Still there is a voicemail icon that won't go away

Click to collapse
Do you have voicemail feature/service with Sprint? If so call in and delete any voicemails in your inbox. If not then call Sprint and have them enable their voicemail service for your line and have someone call you and leave a voicemail. Then call in and delete it.

I called into sprints voice mail and there are no messages. Still the icon in my status bar will not go away.

Still no resolution. Has anyone had any other ideas or know what causes this icon to stay on here?
With the Samsung keyboard anyway enable Google Voice Typing instead of the Samsung voice input you turn off the Samsung voice input it does not use Google Voice typing
