No data connection!!! Help, PLEASE!!!
i have a i9070 and all was working just fine, till suddenly i noticed my data connection disappeared from notification bar.
i checked on settings, it was "On". turned it off, reboot, then tried to activate. No luck... Wifi was ok, but still no data (3G, etc).
google it and found it might be something with the apn settings, so deleted it, configured a new apn (vodafone PT), saved and tried. Still no luck...
Last method was wiping the whole thing set default settings and come with a clean OS. All accounts erased and formatted. Did the initial setup and...surprise...still no Data connection.
Can anybody help me dealing with this? I need data connection working for professional purposes urgently.
By the way, my i9070 is not rooted, official 2.3.6

Did you try putting the sim card in another phone to make sure that its not a network problem ?

Yes, I did. My sim card is working on htc hero with data connection. Still a diferent card on my galaxy s advance shows no data connection at all, which means there must be some problem with my samsung. I rooted with XXLE2 version, reformatted the phone ran the initial setup activated all accounts and still no luck.
Can you please help me? I'm running out off sollutions...
Thanks in advance

Let's just have two topics concerned on the same problem .
Did I say right? Or I should have said "two topics concerning"? (I'm not native english, that's why I'm asking )

You haven't flashed anything right ?
I would suggest you to try changing basebands via odin or flash another variant of stock just to be sure !

Does anyone is trying to compile a OC kernel? CPU overclock would be nice in this phone.

Why so? We have cocafe and Diego working on kernels, whitepx is working on cm. Ventus is working for the p variant. Instead of saying that we need more devs, probably users should step forward and help the devs with their projects!
Last time i checked, only shut down was testing and providing logs. All others were 'afraid ' that they will break their device.
If this is the case, even the existing devs will stop their projects! So instead of asking for something, please first help the devs who are already working for the device.
No offense. Just my 2 cents..

The device was released in April. So everyone is in warranty!
For a brick, you can get the device replaced. Then why worry?
Even i have only one device. I had an sga earlier. Bricked it while compiling cwm 6. Then i got this device. But the folks over at sga forum were kind enough to donate some money. Thus i could get a new device. But here all what i see is, folks afraid of testing, but they want the development to continue! How is that possible!?

Hey guys, We are going to try something new for our china phones - cyanogenmod.
But we need some more devs to get everything going.
For now we have:
-Github tree for Lenovo P700i(mediatek 6577, android 4.0.4, kernel 3.0.8)
-Lens_flare - original port author(may work with system folder and configs)
-some kernel source from other devices like liquid gallant
The main problem is getting adb to work that could help a lot on remaining development. For now even zygote not starting, but all partitions seems mounted successfully.
We need more devs (especially that could assemble working kernel for device), working with p700i may lead to following porting for other mtk devices, as sources are nearly the same.
ᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗ

Well that source in the OP is ICS... JB sources are still a mess... Nothing more that a Cyanogen 9 is possible I believe!
People make their own device tree's also! Instead of consuming that Nothing other than CM9 is possible instead help or GTFO! We will make it possible one day I believe!
@varun.chitre15: The Github Organization is ready! I already forked a few repo's! So, Start Working

Nopes! I am not making a CM Kernel instead directly building CM9! The Prebuilt Kernel will boot CM9! Though.... @DanceOff was also working to get CM10.1 Booting :cyclops: Now, That he knows about already available CM9 Sources we could get CM9 Booted first then think about fixing bugs etc. Plus, Most of the people are ready to sacrifice 1 sim to get a Working CM on their MTK Device

Mate, hold your horses you don't get to use abusing slangs and expect help from anybody...
If you are interested then dive into what you think is possible and do it, there is no harm in expecting better!
Its time to united whole developers... support and help cyanogen dev., instead of developing so-called ROMs..(everything is same features... so boared)

Hi Everyone,
CyanogenMOD would be an awesome accomplishment for these devices. Please try to stay on topic and not engage in petty disagreements. It is incredibly easy for a community effort to get derailed or fall apart. Remember, if you see something you don't like or disagree with, you can always ignore it or report it.
Thanks!

Well I am still working upon this matter in the background. Somehow I messed up my build environment and god knows why, my recovery builds aren't booting as seen on the thread even though my device trees are untouched. Will be starting cleanly once I finish my exams on 16 May.
And regarding CyanogenMod, I have made a pretty good progress here. I have been studying the android ICS sources since they were discovered. Till now I have succeeded to frontport the MTK Gemini support, FEATUREOPTION builder, MTK GPS, MTK Camera HAL to the AOSP 4.2. But all of them are untested because I don't have the device, everyone knows. For this purpose I am going to buy the upcoming Xperia C3, which upon using as a medium for testing I can do this stuff a bit faster which will be beneficial to all MTK devices throughout. I have more than 30 commit patchsets lying on my machine which I will outsource soon.
I will suggest to use AOSP as base for these experiments because its always good to understand the pure upstream code. Once we have done noticable progress here, we can diff and merge them in projects like CM.

[Resolved] [Q] Help with MT6589 based devices

Hi,
I thought this was not yet possible to port Cyanogenmod on Dual Sim devices, at least not properly, but then I saw this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246874
It gave me a real hope for the generic MT6589 device I am currently using.
I am new to all of this, so I hope I don't bother everyone.
Also, my device uses obviously different hardware, but uses the same processor, so I managed to install the above ROM and got it working but without any screen display.
In other words, it was working, and I could see everything as far as the installation wizzard was concerned, so I thought I was fine, but then when I was done and it rebooted, I could not see anything on the display anymore, but the phone was still working working.
So I am assuming some obvious hardware drivers differences, and that the old drivers were still working till I restarted?
Is there a way to modify the rom to make it work?
What files would I need to pull from my device to add/replace in the posted ROM to make it worlk, if that is possible?
Or does cynanogenmod have to compile with the files of my device to work, even though the processor bit had already been done?
If so, I have no problem in trying to compile cyanogenmod from scratch, but I will still get the dual SIM problem, and I thought this has been fixed in this ROM.
So what modifications would need to be done to incorporate the DUAL SIM issue, and make it work, or has this already been resolved upstream?
Is there a github or such of the modifications and alterations that were done to Cyanogenmod for this posted ROM in order to get it working?
I am willing to use those files and port it to my device, but without these modifications, I will not be able to do anything, even though the kernel sources for MT6589 are openly available now.
Sorry for asking this question here, but I tried to reply to the original post and it did not let me.
Is it okay to ask this here?
If not, please excuse me, and if you can forward me to the right place.
Thanks and regards

Also, I was hoping to learn how to do it, and have the sources if possible, or at least how to modify the sources, because I have about three of these chinese devices, all using the same processor, but with different hardware.

I can see that, but I think with some patience I can do it.
Also, I have been using Linux for years now, and it seems I just need to figure out how things are laid out in Android.
And once I get used to that, then things become easier.
I am assuming that the linux kernel needs to be compiled with the specific drivers related to my hardware, right?
However, that would still not take into account:
- The changes made in Android/Cyanogenmod that take into account Dual SIM functionality
- How Cyanogenmod is actually laid-out, such as are changes done directly to stock android, or applied as patches?
I was thinking of the following:
1) Checking for the difference between stock Android and Cyanogenmod, and save aside the diff changes to make a patch file.
2) Then hope to find the sources of the stock android that has already been modified to work with MT6589, since these devices obviously use Android on them with some modifications
3) Then apply the patch made in (1) on these sources
Thus, I also need one important question answered:
If I were to download the sources for Cyanogenmod (which I already did), are the patches to the stock Android already applied, or are they placed in a separate folder, and applied on compilation?
I have this feeling that the above patches will probably not work out, because there will probably be extra functions, code that the patch will not be able to take into account, and will have some type of non-working or broken system, until I figure out what is missing.
I might get it to boot to a certain point (most probably shell like), and it would stop there.
Well, in either case, after writing all this down, I started to visualize more the hard part you are talking about, and this would require good knowledge of Android Code and structure.
Thus, if anyone can give me the required Cyanogenmod sources that have already been modified to work on an MT6589, or the diff patches between the normal and modified Cynogenmod, then that would be amazing.
Then I will have to only figure out at that point the propriety files I need to pull from the device, and specific vendor modifications.
Of course, I am just speculating, as this depends on how Android/Cyanogenmod is structured, and I could be completely off the mark, and have no idea what I am talking about.
Thanks

Wow... Even though I searched for so long, I did not find this.
I guess I did not know what to search for.
I thank you a lot.
I will probably take a while to learn how to use this, so I will disappear until I figure it out.
If I managed to do anything, then will come back and post my status.
Thanks again

[Q] I want to build CyanogenMod 10 for my Samsung Galaxy Chat B5330 myself. Help!

Okay so I've bought a samsung galaxy chat B5330 device back in feb'2013. Don't ask me why cause I conciously bought it. So I realised after searching for 6 months that there is no interest of developers in this device. so I have taken up the initiative to 1) Build CM 10, 2) Port CWM, 3) Root the device myself. However I don't have much idea about building android. I've rooted and flashed Custom recovery n ROMs to my dad's phone before and I'm a geek so I learn things quickly about computers n phones. So I'm nor a complete newbie neither a Master developer. Therefore I need help of those devlopers who will be kind enough not to discourage me. Anyone can root a device which is more popular because it gets vulnarable too quickly so there is no point in telling me that "you should have bought a device which has developer support". I am interested to be a developer myself n that challenge is really so tempting to me. So here are my questions which I don't have exact idea about.
1) I have a computer of the config -> AMD fx 6100 hexacore buldozer 3.3 GHz/4 GB RAM/500 GB HDD/Windows7(32) & Ubnuntu 13.04(64). Can I do the job of building roms from the source with this config in the first place?
2) Does galaxy chat B5330 support 'fastboot'? if yes then How can I boot into fastboot mode? I've tried with adb 'reboot-bootloader' but the device just restarted normally. So I don't know How can I get into the fastboot mode?
3) CM developers are really kind enough that they have put alot effort into making the wiki. I've got precious informations about building android from source and all. But I have a confusion. There was mentioned fastboot is necessery for building CM. So if my phone does not have fastboot should it mean that I can't build CM for my device at all?
4) How much data do I have to download? Do I need to be connected to the internet always while editing local file? n If I use 'repo sync' to update the code always won't my editings get overwritten by stock code again?
so these are few basic questions I have for now. I know I might not get any response at all. But there's no harm in trying. thanks

The best way to start is to use another Rom as base (get permission first) then start tweaking it with scripts, apps and build.prop tweaks. Once you start to get familiar with the basics, start experimenting with different tweaks. Since you are going to create a Cyanogenmod 10 Rom from scratch, I give you best of luck and hope many people will use it!
FINALLY!

btw, i agree, that liq is best of kk roms, but...it has some..well, issues.

Good job, and my respect is even bigger knowing that you are young fellow, non english native speaker...
Wish you enough will to continue and expand your little project, although i think your tests should last bit longer (for now it's more like first impressions).
And i don't think that Roms you pointed as non-working really don't work, people would mention about it...
Anyway, good job, once again

I said that dont work on my decive... This roms yes work but its more difficult to install them because you need to flas first the specifik stock rom that they're based and on my pc odin doesn't work (400 mhz and 128 mb of ram =) ) it's too old.
If you test them you can send to me your opinions and add them as working and tested roms.

You must upgrade your phone to 4.1.2
then you must use a tempory CMW, and flash your rom to your phone
sorry for my bad english
The best form me is CM11 from TC, but in the new build you should checge minimal fraq to 200mH because of 100mH battery drain.
I'm using 4.4.4 from novafusion.pl. Very good, no problems with phone.
Great idea to have a central place for people to find ROMs. No doubt, CM is always a good choice but if you like pure Android I can also recommend this AOSP ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588054

[FAQ][HELP THREAD][GUIDES LIST] Ask Any Question for Xperia L

Hello Everyone.
Good News for everyone. I have decided to maintain a help thread at Xperia L community in order to keep the threads for development/general section more clean and better organised. I have been noticing for a long time that whenever new users join, they still are not sure about the rules and thus mistakenly post in the wrong sections too often. If any senior member points it out to them, mostly it is either ignored or taken personally. Thus I have decided a combined help section would be very helpful to the community and the questions which are sometimes left unanswered and lost in question answer forums, that would not happen again for all of you.
I would be personally answering all your questions and shall refer you to someone in case I feel someone else would be able to answer the same question in a more detailed way. Other users can feel free to answer as well if you think you can tackle the situation well and make sure while answering any question, you provide enough information to the users as well. You can easily link the users to posts if you think a question has been already answered.
REASONS I AM MAKING THIS
Lots of repetitive questions.
Same things told again and again
Threads remain clean
A simple reference to every important thread that you should visit in case you have a problem
WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO
Read the rules here XDA RULES BEFORE YOU POST
Idea of this thread is to help and to be helped. So ask any question you have in mind related to Xperia L, Android, or anything at all as long as it is related to Xperia L directly or indirectly.
Make sure you are precise with your information
Be Detailed
Do not repeat the same thing again and again
Use search button to find if your question has been asked before. Do not repeat your question if it is answered before.
WHAT INFORMATION YOU MUST PROVIDE
1.Your bootloader status
2. Rom name with complete baseband/date/version
3. Kernel name
4. Any Mods you are using
5.If you are using Custom Rom, your flashing style i.e dirty/clean or you wiped anything else in specific
6. If you used any guide, link to the guide
7. Root status
8. Your exact problem
9. Any method you tried that failed
10.Any other detail you think would be necessary
Make sure you provide as much details as possible. Things like my phone won't turn on please help would not be of any help to you or to the person answering. So please make sure you provide as much detail so we know exactly what is your problem and thus guide you in the right direction.
A sample would be something like this
Device: c2105
ROM name: CM 12 dated 10th May
ROM version and base: 3.99-RC2
Build number: CM_taoshan-userdebug 4.3 JLS36G
kernel version and its settings: 3.4.0-thunderzap.kernel.plus [email protected] #193
Rooted
Sabertooth Mod
I can not use my WIFI. Although i tried flashing Wifi modules but it does not work.
I flashed CM over 1.5.2A.0.17 Stock

Please remember "Give respect to others, others will respect you back!" in simple words, No abuse towards newbies/noobs will be tolerated here! So anyone found doing that would be reported.
Another important thing is MAKE SURE YOU THANK THE PERSON who helps you. This is to show your appreciation to someone who personally took his time to answer your question. He had been nice enough to do it for FREE and nothing else. A simple thank you to his post will go a long way. The questions would be answered more and the one who is answering would be happy to answer more questions. So it is a gain gain situation for all of you. Read my signature because most people take help for granted here. So be kind to others and HIT THANKS BUTTON A LOT.

Btw @Joery360 was a good guy who contributed a lot of time here. I just don't know if he uses this device anymore.

Hey, guys! Hope you're having a nice day! I'll cut to the chase now...
Now, I wanna downgrade my Xperia L from android version 4.2.2 to version 4.1.2. I know there already are quite a few threads on this topic but, I am completely new to all of this. I've tried following those and many other threads but have not been able to accomplish anything so far. Ha! I don't even what some of the terms mean.
Thanks for your help in advance,
Pranav

Is there any Lollipop ROM which is (relatively) stable and bugfree? I have CM12.1 and am not really satisfied (after all it's only beta 2)
It doesn't have to have plenty of functionality (but would be nice if it really had some)

Although everyone likes to have their own customisation in a ROM and what features they are looking for, it is very hard to pin point which would suit you best. For now , the best thing you can do is test few roms like Resurrection Remix, PACMAN etc and see what suits you best.
As far as your stablility issues are concern, the BSOD is major problem in 12.1. I suggest you go back to CM12 nightlies from official website.
next request: remove this repartitioning guide! its the best methode to hardbrick your device...

There is a similair thread at the Galaxy Tab 2 forum. It might be best to ask a mod to pin this.
And @Joel16, I still have the device in my possession. (It's eating dust in my drawer) I'll check here regularly to help users if needed.
Cheers.

@SdtBarbarossa you could also add flashing supersu zip for #2. Your method is easier, of course, but personally i run to some issues with cm's default (ie titanium backup seems to prefer supersu). Not sure if it's just me though.

I've been using UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.45.zip since cm12 and have had no issues. I did have problems with another version (i can't remember which, unfortunately). [emoji4]

xperia l
've unlocked bootloader by following the instructions provided on unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions and the fastboot tool sad "OKAY". Now when I try to turn it on again, I see SONY and then XPERIA logo, and then Xperia colour animation on the screen. It's been like that for more than an hour, and to turn it off I needed to pull out the battery. PC companion doesn't recognize it . I've tried holding the volume up button while starting up (the logos) and holding down both volume buttons and nothing happened.
Is there any way to fix this?

Strange enough. After I put this guide up, there has been less questions in the forum. Guide working ? What do you reckon
After Xperia L
First of all thank you for this useful thread.
My question :
Why is Sony Xperia L lucky for custom ROMs, Kernels etc. I know that Soc (Snapdragon) has major requirement for this kinds of staff. However, I think, Xperia L has also something different and Which Sony Smart Phone are you suggest to buy after sony Xperia L supported like this?
