So, we all know that the HOXL has a great DAC. I am however considering getting a Note 2 though (sorry guys, I'm still keeping my HOXL though!).
Can anyone testify on the audio quality comparison between these two devices? Currently, I have Aznrice's VooDoo Mode installed on top of ViperXL. Sounds great.
I have read the audio quality analysis of both devices on GSMArena, the numbers show quite a difference, but I'd like a first-hand opinion.
Thanks!

As far as audio quality I know someone at work who has one. I'll see if we can compare.
What's your choice in music?

I'm pretty flexible. I listen to everything, but lately it's been a lot of dubstep, psytrance, and classic rock. I use Audio Technica ATH-M50 cans, love them so far.

And one of the best as well. It was in one of the original ipods. I think the 4th Gen, and it is an amazing DAC. Google it. Lots of love for it.
With voodoo control, the sound is stunning from this phone with good headphones.
I can vouch for this on my epic. Even the stock earbuds sound great. I'm using a pair of high end Sony buds and the sound is amazing. Also, the recorder is top notch too. With hi-q mp3 recorder and the recording setting set to loud environment, I went to a live show and the sound from the video was pretty decent l. I was right next to the guant speakers.

I guess you are still talking about the Wolfson DAC present on the sgs1 and the previous samsung nexus...
But what about the sound quality on this Nexus??
Seems to be, it doesnt have neither the Wolfson nor the Yamaha DAC...
Anyone?

Hi,
I'm trying to find out which rom has the best battery life?
Do note that I am looking for jb, so if there are rom variants that are good on ics but not jb, then it is a problem.
I'm also looking for this rom to have hdmi out - I occasionally download movies on my phone and want to watch them on my hdtv.
Thanks!

There's no one answer. Everyone seems to be having different experiences. Ten people could tell him they get the best battery life on one rom, and he might get crappy battery life.

Oh is that so? That seems counterintuitive. I would have ordinarily thought that some roms are optimized for a specific purpose (or flexibility).

Its unfortunately not that clearcut. There are some known for battery life (ie CleanROM), but the lines are very blurred. You must test them yourself.
Sent from my HTC One XL
When testing for battery life, I try to keep all my settings like auto-sync, brightness the same. Then I use the phone normally with 2-4 screen time, with light gaming, surfing and etc. So far the new Jelly Bean roms have been great and of course CleanROM for its stability.
CM10 does not yet support HDMI out. At least from my experiences with MHL adapter. I believe that only Sense will allow the use of MHL. Correct me if I am wrong.

MHL isn't specific to sense, my Galaxy Nexus uses MHL and it works fine with CM10. MHLsupport is a kernel thing so if it doesn't work in CM10 right now on the One XL, it probably will eventually.

Hi Guys!
I am planning on buying this when it becomes available in my area (KSA). I need a feedback esp. on those who already have this. What are your thoughts on this as a Music Player? I really enjoyed Galaxy S3, the quality of it's audio chip is superb, and with MegaBeats Mod + SiyahKernel, it even beats my Sony Music Player!
Your responses is highly appreciated.
Thank you very much!
Try to search the Q&A section OP many people have discussed about it there. Just some little info, SGS4 got the current highest end of Wolfson DAC.

Ahh I forgot about that, but the updated GSM arena article shows some great promise and some are speculating whether the S600 version also have Wolfson in it.
Will the 600 sound be awful then?

No it doesn't, i tried the phone the other day in store, and i was blown away by the sound quality, i own a Note 2 with superb sound quality, the Galaxy S4 S600 is much louder and i couldn't tell the difference in clearity.

I covered this before, it has the same qualcomm chip like HTC One.
Though One has beats audio and extra amplifier.

Nope, it doesn't. This is already confirmed by Supercurio via Voodoo Analysis on the 600 model. The GSMArena results have nothing whatsoever to do with Wolfson, the One with the same bundled Qualcomm DAC performs much the same.
Honestly this speaker isnt too great for music. I wasnt blown away. Loudness doesnt mean better. Its similar to the Note 2. Same placement as well. Very loud but kind of loud microphonish

The Beats function that is found within Sense ROMs is just an equalizer. What Beats does can be replicated with DSP Manager on CM10.1

There is no such thing as "better sound" when it comes to an equalizer; at least not from an objective standpoint. Its almost entirely a matter of personal preference, and also depends on what kind of music you listen to, what kind of headphones, etc.
Beat is just a pre-determined equalizer setting. The notion that is "better" for all circumstances is marketing non-sense, and patently false. The only reason that people think Beats sounds "better", is because they are just buying into the marketing hype.
Trial and error is your best friend. Just adjust the DSP sliders until the desired effect is achieved.

I hear no difference between the "boomsound" and Beats implementations on these devices. If anything, Beats on the DNA sounds pretty much the same as boomsound on this M8 via the headset jack.

I had the Rezound and i still use it as a music player because i find that the sound quality via the headset jack is much better than what we currently have on the M8. Don't get me wrong i am still very happy with my new M8
