Hi,
i've received the OTA to 4.1.1, where in the process I've lost root (sigh....), but lost something else as well:
Before the update there were 3 possibilities when connecting via USB - mass storage, media and photots - and now only 2 remain being media and photos.
Problem I have now is that my car won't recognize the USB connection, meaning no charging, no music nothing..... :crying:
Would you know if there's a bypass or a possibility to get this 3rd option back?
(for the music I'm now bypassing with bleutooth, but this doesn't help my battery life......)
Thanks for the help.

Hey all. Due to low post count I am unable to post this query to development forum.
I'm trying this ROM but find the following issues:
With Android debugging enabled, I cannot mount phone storage to PC (unlike other ROMs I'm trying). I have to turn debugging off in order to mount phone
Also, I cannot sync to PC at all; my preferred app for this is MyPhoneExplorer, but with client installed on phone, phone is never detected as connected.
What am I overlooking?
For anyone with same issue, only way I found was via System Settings/Storage[MENU] USB Computer
Connection. Selecting MTP allows syncing. I like this ROM, but find it irksome having to go somewhat deep into system settings just to choose sync or storage.
Thank you. You have saved me the headache of having to deal with constant freezes again. :-\ (The reason I changed from KitKat back to JellyBean is the KitKat ROM kept freezing up my phone.)
Hi all,
I apologise in advance if this has been answered somewhere here before, but I couldn't find anything on Google or using the forum search.
Background:
I usually have USB connection set to Media device (MTP) and this works for 99% of devices. The one thing that's causing me issues is the USB connection on a Hyundai i30. As soon as it is connected, it starts to scan for music to play. However after approx 5 seconds the connection drops, then it attempts to reconnect again. This causes the radio to toggle off in the car repeatedly each time it tries to reconnect and worse, ends up draining the battery on the N5 instead of charging it.
Current Workaround:
I've been able to avoid the issue by deselecting both MTP and PTP in the USB connection settings which allows the phone to charge properly.
TL/DR - Hoping for an easier way to change USB mode:
Does anyone know of any widget that exists that can toggle this from the homescreen? It's a pain to have to go all the way to USB connection each time I have to get in the car, then to remember to change it again next time I'm using anything else. Bootloader unlocked and rooted BTW.
Hello!
After long search I didn't find any answer to my problem. So here I am.
Most important informations:
Screen is broken totally, I can't see anything, touching doesn't seem to work (no reaction to unlock pattern at all.
Device is not rooted
USB Debugging is disabled
USB mode is set to charging only
Stock software
PDA: G920FXXS4DPG2
I tried to connect it via HDMI to my tv but it didn't work. If I could use HDMI I have another micro USB port in HDMI Adapter that I can use with OTG and mouse.
Is there a way to recover text messages, photos and some other files?
There is already an exact same thread like this

Hi I am struggling to get data off my old galaxy S9, I have the 2 phones connected via USB but cannot authorise the old phone to transfer data, the screen is FUBAR and as such cannot press" allow" I think that presently the USB mode seems to be charging only, can anyone help? thanks
Use ABD and it comes with the the android SDK from google. But it requires a couple of your phones internal software switches to be set in order to access your phone via the USB interface. If you have not already set these switches before the screen got broken you may be out of luck.
