UPDATE 4.10.11 - Moving my learning curve towards a more user-biased concept - see x99percent or scaryghoul for GREAT kernels!
OP Here - http://romrepo.info/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=20
WARNING! Will not have wifi working and will not work properly on cm nightlies 31+, newest MIUI, Evervolvs new release may still not have the new video drivers. See original link for details.
Git: https://github.com/smoothtaste/speedy-gb
Proof of concept, with my sd reader fried I need a bigger test base to see if its going in the right direction and actually being used by end-users. If anyone is up to helping me with merges and such while I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere it'd be pretty sweet
Original goal: bring an OC/UV kernel to the table for 2.3 aosp roms with proper smartass governor implementation *as per x99percents interpretation. Then as kernel matures implement into aosp build (A few of my fellow users have agreed to or already are working on this.)
Git cloned toastcfh, not used to having to list things publicly so my git is sloppy. ENTIRE kernel base is toastcfh. I just cloned him a few moments too early, cause the video drivers are already outdated.
Inserted freq/voltage tables found in x99's sense kernels. Also implemented x99s interpretation of the governors, great work.
Very special thanks to scaryghoul for repeatedly telling me how far too far really is, for giving me a couple great scripts (which I then misused, hence broken wifi.) And for just being a cool mofo who knows some shiz.
UPDATE 4.10.11 - Moving my learning curve towards a more user-biased concept - see x99percent or scaryghoul for GREAT kernels!
You have been warned, I am teaching myself at my own pace and there might not be ANY reason YOU should use this. Unless you wanna help me get better, of course.
REMEMBER! Not cm7 31+ or newest miui. Will have a VERY hard time scrolling.

Changelog!
V.0.0.fail
Merged with toastcfh 3.27 - integrated x99percents freq tables and governor patches. Made into flashable zip thanks to scaryghouls script - and in turn destroyed wifi functionality. My mistake :X
If anyone does this on the correct roms I'm looking for battery life and performance infos. If we get a lil attention, we'll go ahead and bring the public release up to date.

Yeah I did the other day. Like I said my Shift for personal use has crapped out, no sd card mounting anymore. XD - Dunno why I left my spare at home.
If people like the implementation and performance on older builds I'll update it. Like I said before, ANY guidance and/or advice is GREATLY appreciated.

Get with jkilo. He'll know if there's progress being made or not. My current dilemma (with both kernel and rom dev) is I'm in the middle of nowhere and don't have the service to sync upstream.

Anyone have an idea how hard it would be to port this tiamat kernel over to Transformer? built for XOOM and others, and the XOOM hardware is near identical right? Just a thought, this thread has the info and link to the github of the sources.

I posted in the thread if he could develop for us and everyone yelled me. I thought it'd be easy too. But I agree. I hope someone could port this because this kernel seems amazing.

Yeah, I was going to PM him, but he has PMs disabled, and I wasn't going to post in the thread because people hate that, me included. There is nothing more annoying in a thread when someone else comes in asking to do this all to their device. While this is a situation where at least the device internals are pretty similar, still not a polite thing to do. The github of his work should be enough for any dev here to port the work over pretty easily I'd think. We'll see though.

The hardware is fairly similar but they are based on two completely different OEM boards. Transformer=Ventana, Xoom=Stingray.
The Tiamat kernel modificationc could possibly be ported to the transformer kernel, but it isn't as straight forward and simple as you might think.
definitely would be sweet.. dual 1.6GHZ sounds pretty good
Hopefully we get some support soon.. I wish I knew how to do this stuff.
I'm not sure what it is but the forum for the Eee pad seem a bit dead tbh, is it just because of limited stock?

I sure hope so. I know R2doesinc is ordering one, he is a great developer. So we have another one on board soon. But I think it is a combination between that and that there are so many choices out there. I hope it picks up soon..

there is some hardcore douchery going on with sku checks.. I'm chasing variables all over the place.. I give up for the night.. this is like the xoom source, but again fuse data screws us.. I never should've opened this god damn box.. i knew i'd hate it. I haven't used it all.. I prefer my gtab.. argh.. sorry its late.. late late. still want to frisbee it..
Can't wait for the ability to OC
I miss IRC.
And I hope we get some development on this soon. It'd be a shame to see people sticking to products like the xoom, just because the TF is so limited in its availability. We need availability to pick up for this product.

Its not limited in just availability, its limited in 'mod-ability'.. It could just be the product maker following the guidelines for that particular board and making use of 'security' features specific to that board, but its still a pain in the ass. Work was put in to make the end user work harder to be able to customize.
I have the gtab (harmony), Xoom (stingray) , and eeepad (ventana). The gtab is the fastest, the easiest to mod, the hardest to brick.. and the heaviest with the worst screen. The eeepad is the slowest, the worst to mod and the lightest.. guess what .. best screen.
I am typing this on the gtab tho.. and I just got the eeepad today. It'll probably collect dust. Tried to play south park (originally avi/xvid/mp3) converted/muxed to mp4/xvid/aac and the Asus would play it... but volume control was not working it was full blast or mute. My gtab plays xvid avi/mp3 without a hiccup. Any other format I can throw at it too (sans multichannel audio and high profile h264). Its really surprising how far this has come. Since its oc'd every which way, it makes everything else seem very very slow. Only thing I haven't been able to get oc'd yet is emc.
Getting the ability and the clocks setup for the Asus was a breeze. Configuring/adjusting /making sense of all the bits and pieces of dvfs was not. speedo_id is a new one to me, and that seems to be the value that is read from fuse data and locks down max clocks
You guys got Blades and Netarchy on the case. You don't need me lol. I would LOVE to have Netarchy working on stingray.

Max is the current maintainer for the Amaze and MT4G-Slide for CM9. He's had a number of small updates yesterday and today alone.
I'm quite optimistic with Max, I'm sure this will be a usable build before long.
Anyone else excited? I have been dying to run a AOSP rom on my phone since release of the device.

Also, it's about time! Kornyone's work was amazing (especially since it happened relatively early-on), but he's gone dark on us for a while and is plagued with personal issues. Maybe now our phones can function the way they're supposed to.
that is both good and bad news for me.
anyway, many thanks to Kornyone for the work he has done and good luck with his personal issues (i lurk his google+ and can fully understand why he has really no time for developing anymore)

I don't understand the issues :3 Where going to have CM9. If you've noticed, CM9 hasn't been officaly released(Only 3, 4 devices on the mirror). Many phones lack the proper files to make the camera work. There's so many issues, there's just a lot of KANGs. We could have CM9 now, but there's no working camera with AOSP ICS. Otherwise TB would have had a AOSP/AOKP/CM9.

The issue is that we could have at least had CM 7.0.3 by now instead of AOSP-like ROMs still built on the memory- and power-consuming Sense framework.

Its not the sense framework that is a memory hog. Its all the system apps like sense widgets. Rosie launcher. Added bloatware. Etc etc. If you remove those memory hogs and use the sense framework it would do as well if not better then aosp. I ran undeads RubiX ICS and it had sense framework. But it was super stable and battery lasted crazy long. Sense framework also keeps the ability to use the sense camera. There are way more pros then cons.

I have the knowledge. But im all bout the money. Development of android shows no return for time invested. Long story short i dont want to dev unless the donations are guaranteed. I got my kernel code for cm7 up on my git for the most part. But i still have some "Unfinished Business" to attend to before making my git public for others to "Kang" from. There is still that nasty battery drain bug. Im going to put a second git together with a full device tree for doubleshot so other devs can put together better Aosp Roms. In the mean time I will compile cm7 from the htc glaciers git and merge it with doubleshot. Luckily the doubleshot has all the needed GB Drivers. Libs. Binaries. Etc etc to make it fully functioning direct from htc.

Yes but that means doing the work first (With zero guarantee) of return. The kernel source was super simple. I dont want anything for that git. But building a complete device tree your talking hundreds of hours as you stated. I will see what can be done.

Man,
I wish we had that many devs on our phone
Oh well, if we had more on cm7, it will help us collect more info on our phone so we can try a port to ics or aosp, or whatever...
Think of cm7 as a 'information collector' we can use to do new projects in the future.
I'd love to hop on this project, but I can't handle that much multitasking. I think we'd get further with more people on cm7, and then later do an ics port.

Just to update everyone. I managed to get fix a couple of things. When I hit the menu button while in setup wizard, I can get into the wireless menu. I was also able to navigate thru the setup wizard, but had no keyboard input my email/password. I found I was missing a key file for the keyboard and will fix it later. However, after navigating thru the setup wizard, the homescreen/lockscreen doesn't show. It's coming together, slowly but surely...
Keep up the great work Thomas!
I made some good progress, I think anyways...lol
I installed swype and was able to get past the setup wizard properly.
I got the lockscreen to appear with a temp fix.
Still no homescreen, but I know where the problems lie and will be working on them tomorrow...

Thanks for giving the SK4G new hope. Cant wait to see some progress although I know that's going to take some time
Yea, My hope is to get 3 different kernels running on this phone in two weeks. It may take a little bit longer.
1) cm6 based on the stock froyo kernel src drop.
2) teamacid's current 2.6.35 gb/ics
3) teamacid's port of aries 3.0.8 ics (eventually jb)
After the kernel is up and booting a basic set of features on the rom, I'll be sending it back to TLS and pushing out some test images.
There will be new recoveries and... I'm sure... a fist full of problems to work through. But it's a start.
Thanks again to nxd!

Well, two weeks of straight work. In the end, including having to live my real life as well, it may be a month. The two weeks being time-sliced between finding a job, being Mr. Mom and other work I am doing.

Well, I'm going to leave the testing to bhundven, he's playing with serious stuff here akin to fire. If you play with it and mess up, you will get burned unless you have unbrickable mod down. (Which he said he'll be doing). Unless you're willing to jump into the fire, I don't recommend it. Not to say he's going to put out something unstable, but keep in mind he's pretty much developing from the ground up and problems can arise.

Nah, don't need unbrickable mod for kernel testing.
I will do it if something bad happens, but I doubt that will happen.

Oh? Lol, I thought kernel flashing was dangerous if done wrong. You're the pro though lol, so all bets are on you. xD

Worst case scenario, I act like a total newb and flash the kernel to a bootloader partition. FAIL!
But, I'm sure I'll be a bit more professional then that.
With the kernel, the worst case scenario is having issues going from BML -> MTD or MTD back to BML. (Read this for explanation of BML and MTD)
But that shouldn't affect the SBL (Secondary BootLoader), so I should still be able to use a usb jig to get to download mode and go back to BML at any time.
The last worst case scenario is being totally silly stupid and fat finger a voltage setting and hard bricking the phone by over volting or over heating.
At that point, I'd just buy you a new phone.
Lol no offense I'm not sure I'd need one. The only reason I still have the Sidekick is for a backup in case my Galaxy S 2 decides to commit suicide.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
