Hello XDA,
I currently have the HTC Aria (Rooted) and I was wondering if I should get the HTC Inspire 4G. I have been considering it for a while and my upgrade date is in a few months and I was wondering, is this a great phone?
In my opinion yes the Inspire is a great phone but if you still have to wait a few months; HTC has some new stuff coming down the pipe Dual core, 4.5" screens, Ect... Although by the time you upgrade the Inspire will more than likely be free while your other options will not. As for what AT&T has out there right now I would still pick the Inspire. Even if they would have not screwed up my change from Alltel and gave them to me for free to keep me happy.

I had the Aria and now have the Inspire. The difference in size and weight took some gettting used to, but the Inspire is a great phone with a much better selection of ROMs. I have no regrets whatsoever.
I agree with tmcfarland. I came from an aria and I love it. Plus there have been no problems getting used to it other then the size difference. Just be sure if you root to read everything through it is a little more involved than the aria but still very doable.

This is the best phone eva! Now seriously it is a pretty beastly phone, speeds are great, screen quality is great, data speeds are the best your going to get until LTE and the build quality is amazing along with DEV support. Thats all you need to know
my favorite phone so far! although my second best is the blackjack 2 so this is really in a different world.
camera is amazing too...
like its been said waiting will offer a newer htc phone but its prolly gonna cost you where as this inspire might be a free phone when your due
Thanks guys, I went to an At&t store in my area to check the phone out, it seems pretty cool. And does anyone suggest a specific ROM, I have been looking at some extremely great ones.
I have enjoyed Gingerbeast for a whole week already, world record fot me...but i would also recommend honeysense, 2.1 sense mixed with 3.0

I'm going against the grain here and not recommend this phone. I'm on my third phone. Im not hard on them at all. The speakerphone and freezing problems is why I returned the first one. The second one the screen totally went out. Both were stock. My current version is rooted and custom and so far no problems. It does drop calls but that may just be the service although never had q problem with my previous device. The battery is puny and you will need a charger with you at all times. I give the phone a 6 out of 10.

Hey, I'm almost always around a charger and my battery on my Aria isn't so great either, so do you see me complaining?
When will you have the phone? For now I would recommend trying something like miui, very much like iPhone and completely different from the other inspire roms.
Definitely try gingerbeast, super fast.

Tpgb is a great rom. I just got an inspire after having a captivate and my wife has an aria I would def get the inspire I thought my cappy was nice but the inspire blows it away. Im on tpgb rom now and my battery life is better than any cappy rom ive rver been on and it is ridiculously fast
Sent from my inspire running tpgb or captivate running cm7
Wait. I have the aria and 2 inspires and would tell you to wait. The phone has issues, but I will say I still love it. Looks like the sensation is coming to ATT and lord willing maybe the sgs2 . If you think battery life on the aria is bad your really in for a bad surprise with the inspire. They have the same size battery.
Performance wise the inspire is rock solid, on par with the dual core beasts. I can run the tegra and gameloft games without a hitch. But the cell signal, WiFi, and definetly Bluetooth performance is sub par. It is a phone afterall. The speaker is bad, unusable for videos without the volume apk. I honestly think the metal body is what hinders the radio. Most have issues with the screen, my two included. Hell a case can kill Bluetooth as can your Hand covering the side.
Not trying to poop all over our beloved gadget, just telling it like it is. Go into any if the forum here and ask the opinion of that phone. I promise you it will be 90% positive, except the atrix. Lol

I still use my Aria and I have the Inspire...The Aria is good in the car because I can control everything with one hand and my thumb...cant with the Inspire.
Its time to get a new phone and I haven't decided between the sensation & the g2x. So I ask, would you recommended the sensation? Please let me know why you would or would not.
Thanks

It's a great phone from my experience. Stock it's been extremely fast sense looks great. I'm more a vanilla person but even I have to admit it looks great. Also now that s-off is so close it will be a beast. As far as the g2x if you look in the general forums it seems like there's a lot of issues that need to be worked out still. I've never used one myself so this is only second hand info

I've answered this question a few times now, and without me loosing another 2 minutes typing it out, the long and short of it is YES (infact i do recommend this phone to clients all the time where i work) unless your not a fan of sense i can't think of any other reason why you would want to go with the galaxy s 2, plus there will be a 1.4ghz version of the Galaxy out sometimes either this or early next year too, or so i'm told.
Both are great just atm the sensation is more stable all around as long as you get a good one. Just look at my signature
G2X and Sensation 4G I love both
I had the sensation for just over a week now and i must say im super impressed. I was REALLY lucky tho, i have NO problems that i see all around the forum, like dust, i have no death grip issue and no response issues, the phone is real smooth.
I would get sensation over G2x just because higher amount of ram alone. Sensation is a very nice all around device.

Do what I did
Keep jumping between the sensation and GS2 forums, till you get nauseated and confused and your Blood Pressure is High
Weigh the pros and cons and decide what you want and then go for it..........
I had an HTC HERO AND HD7 so decided to give samsung a chance and boy I am happy.
You can upgrade the firmware in the SGS2 easily without rooting by a software called ODIN which is super brilliant.

ODIN is a headache to use in most cases and if you're not careful, you'll end up with a paperweight.
Common Sense is learned..........

If you read the OP, he isn't deciding between the GSII and the Sensation as it's not out for T-Mobile.
I have an HD7 and G2, and I'm really happy with my G2. I just picked up a Sensation last week to check it out and wow, I'm very, very pleased with it. I had an N1 before the G2 and got the G2 mainly for the keyboard, but I may end up ditching my G2 and going back to an all-touchscreen Android device for the Sensation. Awesome, awesome phone. Can't WAIT to get it rooted.
Before getting the Sensation, I read up on both it and the G2x. The number of posts floating around regarding people having issues with the G2x and going through several returns really turned me off of it.
I have both phones and I use my Sensation as my daily driver. It has a nicer display and is faster than my G2X once I put ADW on it. It always loaded apps faster, browsed the internet faster and loaded maps faster. I like the Sensation better and think its the all around best phone out of the two mentioned.

Gotta agree w/JR above. I had the G2X for several days then bought a Sensation. The 4.3 vs 4.0 screen is a huge difference IMO. Plus, as others have said, Sense 3.0 really is much better than previous versions. I'm glad I switched.
I owned both. The g2x for the first month and now the sensation since June 8th. I prefer almost everything about the HTC, aside from the lack of root and roms currently

I got my sensation two weeks ago.My brother has g2x rooted with his phone overclocked to 1200 his benchmark scores are higher on every test except for sd card read and write my unrooted sensation has higher scores then his both with class 2 8 gig cards. Both tested with sutu benchmark.I lost a my touch 4g rooted with a class 4 sd card. The my touch 4g rooted is twice the phone as my unrooted sensation but I think when we will be able to get s off it will be one of the best phones on the market just my two cents.
It's a great phone Go get it!
AnTuTu Benchmarks my bad.
I have the mytouch 4g. Great phone, but it's like a ghost town now, all devs are almost gone and things are slow. I want to get a new phone but cash is tight. If I buy a sensation, is that enough of a jump from the mytouch 4g to be worth it? There is a lot more development for sensation and I'm a ROM flip flopper, so that would be good. The mytouch is a great phone, so I don't need to improve too much to be happy. Also, is the camera that much better? Anyone that's had a mt4g knows the shutter lag is crazy long. Makes for blurry pics. Is the camera faster? Noticeably?
Also is the phone overall generally smooth? (obviously that varies been roms and settings, but you get my point)
Anyway just wanted some feedback on whether it's worth it or not. And I know these are a lot of question comparing, but if you didn't have a mt4g, I would still like your opinion. Thanks ahead of time.
EDIT: What about the battery life?

I actually just made the switch from a MT4G to Sensation about a month ago and Im loving it. The camera in MY opinion is better than the MyTouch's. The picture quality is better, but the shuuter lag is still kind of slow. But I use Fast Burst Camera from the market so
As for roms, most that I have run such as Android Revolution and CM7, theyre pretty stable and fast. Plus with HTC leaking their ICS with Sense 3.5 for Sensation, the dev. section has been booming.
Hope I helped!
I have both right now. The camera is much better on the sensation although I feel the mt4g controls its flash much better.
I suggest that you get some hands on time with the sensation. I have hands I don't consider small and I feel reaching the top left corner of the screen, while holding it with my right hand, a pain.
I might keep the mt4g, I'm giving it time.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Sense 3.5 roms for the sensation have no shutter lag at all (on stock kernel) so pics come out fast! Its pretty sick.
I came from a mytouch 4g a few months ago. At first I was like meh now I love my sensation and would never want to own a phone with hard buttons versus the touch ones on the sensation. The camera is nicer on the sensation for low light which I do like and I do like my 4ext touch recovery (not sure if out for mt4g yet?).
Sensation is very smooth and fast and I have grown to love its size and everything about it. I no longer miss my mytouch 4g
I just switched from a MT4G (Panache) and in all honesty I don't feel its that much of a leap forward. Performance seems about the same in general and I miss having a trackpad (for wake and fine tuning sliders) and dedicated camera button.
Hopefully we'll see more performance benefits from the dual core cpu in the new year with apps/games and ICS...but by that time rolls around it will be time for a new Phone again lol.
The Sensation is totally the better phone, the screen resolution and size is awesome, but is it that much better? Not in my opinion....sometimes I feel I should have waited and until this new year before ditching the MT4G.
Hello everyone. Im deciding whether to get the Sensation or Amaze and finally hop back on the HTC bandwagon. I currently have the Samsung Epic 4G on Sprint and hate it lol. It has no development compared to this Phone . Im switching companies so I just want to know from you guys who have the Sensation, should I join you guys or pay a little more for the Amaze?
Phone History:
Motorola Cliq XT <- -_-
HTC Touch Pro 2 <- -_-
HTC HD2 <-
HTC MyTouch 4G <-
Samsung Epic 4G <- -_- lol
Sensation. Much, much, much larger dev community that'll last a lot longer.
I have the sensation 4G and Iove it.you can get them now for $50.00.

If you switching carriers save your discount for the sg3 . I'm leaving T-Mobile for sprint or at&t , if you wanna trade phones If I go with sprint that's fine with me. My next phone will be the sg3 no matter what carrier I go to ,but the phone you got would hold me over nicely til that Sammy make it to the states .my sensation is unlocked, rooted, and has the white beats with audio housing . It has the chichitec 1900 mah battery plus all the original stock stuff. Mint condition . Is currently running coredroid ics.

I wouldn't call it pointless. Removable battery and an SD card slot, as well as a non-pentile display are some key points for the Sensation.
The One S has Sense 4.0 officially, and it's technically faster, but realistically there's no difference in speed unless you're playing the newest, hottest games - and even at that the Sensation should be able to cover it.
Get the Sensation and enjoy the XDA Development in this forum section! cool
The Amaze has a slightly better camera, room for an SD card, and removable battery. I had the phone and enjoyed it for a bit.....but the XDA community for it...man, you just want to stay away from there.. It is one of the most unfriendliest XDA environments.
So if you like trying different Roms and Mods and not being harassed for asking a question that might have been asked 3 months ago, stay away from the Amaze on XDA.
If you are just gonna run stock Rom and you can get the Amaze at the same price as the Sensation then I would say go for it.
Thanks guys and yeah their forums look pretty rough. I don't need a "God Phone" , I just want a newer and nicer looking phone and im thinking of getting the sensation over the Amaze at this point. The Amaze has terrible battery life and although the build quality and specs are impressive, i've seen a rom on here that makes the sensation pretty much equal to the Amaze.. Oh and im not going to T-Mobile with it im buying an unlocked version and using it on Simple Mobile. I got tired of seeing my mom's infuse 4G on simple get 7.3Mbps and I usually average roughly 700kbps and I pay $40 more lol. Plus in my opinion, the Sensation looks better than the Amaze anyway and I was going to get the SG3 but honestly im not going back to Sammy again rather lay back and chill with the HTC crew like old times lol

In a way im not sure but its the fastest MVNO company to rise ever and its fairly respected especially since it only launched 3 years ago. It runs on T-Mobile's GSM network so you basically have T-Mobile service but you pay relatively less. They have unlimited everything with 4G for only $65 with tax included. Not alot of people like it and say the service isnt great but it depends on where you live. I live in Buffalo NY and they cover all of the area and with 4G..something Sprint failed to accomplish in the year i've been with them lol. I just have a lot of expenses now and the $100 a month is hurting me on Sprint.
Once I get the Sensation 4G hopefully or the Amaze whichever one, it will be unlocked and used with this Company. Check them out if your looking for a GSM alternative and you live in the states
http://www.mysimplemobile.com/index.aspx
Oh and they are also a pre paid service but mainly are known for their awesome Unlimited $40 and $60 dollar plans. And the coverage aint half bad either
SENSATION!!!
Sensation all day. The only true advantage of the amaze is hspa42 vs hspa14. If data speeds don't matter to you too much then go for the sensation. As posted before, amaze development is virtually nonexistent.

Yeah and after looking up tons of reviews about the Sensation from Engadget, Pocketnow, MobileTechReview, etc etc they all seem to really approve the phone. I honestly only wanted the Amaze just because it was newer and faster and that is one thing everyone said about the phone. The sensation with GB and sense 3.0 lagged and was slower in the Quadrants compared to other DC phones like the G2X and Atrix SG2. The Amaze is quick but pays the price with battery life. And yeah development on here from what i've seen is "SENSATIONAL" if I may say. And im sure the awesome dev's on here have turned this phone into one to be reckoned with!!

Amaze isn't actually faster. It's just clocked at 1.5Ghz whereas the Sensation is underclocked at 1.2Ghz. Once you've rooted and whatnot, you can overclock or flash a new kernel. Either way, the Sensation can match the Amaze.

Yeah true and both phones are basically the same, just both has their own different design style. I am quite looking forward to seeing the difference in QHD verses my Super Amoled also. 960x540 on a 4.3" should look very good!!
I'm using a Bell Sensation on AT&T right now. Over the past few months I've been cycling through phones and though I 'stalk' the marketplace, I simply can't find a reason to let go of my Sensation.
Developer support is great - you have your choice of so many ROMs that there is something that works for everyone's tastes. The only thing that the Sensation 'lacks' is RAM - 1GB would be nice and it was something I was worried about when I bought it, but it hasn't been a problem at all. Expandable storage and removable battery are a must for me so the One Series is out of the question for me at this point. Great display quality as well. Go with the Sensation - you won't be disappointed.
The T-Mobile variant is very reasonably priced as well.
Go for the sensation. The specs doesn't really go far from the amaze virtually plus the development community is great. A lot of variety to choose from.

Get the sensation flash the newest OrDroid rom and you will be satisfied for months. I find it funny how we kind of have the same story ! I too had sprint and my mom simple mobile. She would get 7mbps down while i was lucky to even see 400kbps down on my Epic 4g Touch(galaxy s2). I Finally made the switch to simple mobile and got the sensation ! I am very pleased. Oh and btw if you have a t-mobile phone (sensation) it doesn't need to be unlocked to work on simple mobile. Just pop in the sim card set the apn and you're ready to go.

do a search, the question has been asked multiple times...
Sensation all the way. I also had a Amaze, gave it back next day contiuned using my Sensation. The Sensation looks better, a lot more support.
The only difference between the Amaze and Sensation would be the 768MB vs 1GB ram, the camera, and the CPU clock differences which doesn't matter anymore because of the overclockable kernels that we have.
Sensation has decent development, but I would just wait for a worthwhile upgrade if I already had an Amaze.
SGS3 is good, but lack of future LTE support on T-Mo just turns me off. Hence waiting.
Where do you live and how fast is your downstream usually? In NYC, there's a big difference between the Sensation and one of the hspa+42 devices like the Amaze/OneS/SGS2/3.
Understand that the Sensation is only a hspa14 device. I see 2-4mbps down usually, seeing 6 or so if in rare areas, and 8-9 in jersey on the way to the airport.
I haven't personally owned a hspa+42 device yet but using them a few times, the lowest speed I've seen is about the fastest I've seen on the Sensation.
Unless you're somehow able to trade down and pocket $50 I wouldn't do it.
