Stock tweaks - Asus Transformer TF700

I know I might get flamed for this, but I don't feel like ROMing. With that in mind, are there tweaks that I can do to make my TF700 run any faster?
Thanks

With pure stock, no root and locked bootloader - enable force 2gpu in settings ->developer option. ...That about it!
With pure stock rooted and locked bootloader - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1758160 , and install browser2ram for smooth browsing.
But the true performance, with smooth, fast and snappy - unlocked and rooted with Cleanrom, Clemsync kernel and data2sd. It's like driving a race car versus a ford Pinto.

ICS vs JB for TF300T does anyone did comparison ?

Hi TF300T owners, I just wanted to know if someone did a comparison for the performance is there any real improvement ? What about apps side ? Shifting between screens and lags ? We want video showing that I searched YouTube but nothing there !!!
I'm TF700 owner but I'm really interesting about the TF300 JB update since I feel my device is not stable nether not faster than Nexus 7

You got the JB for your TF300 ? Does nexus 7 far better ?

Well, i did have a little play around with a nexus 7 in a store. I don't own it but it did feel much smoother.

I just did a lil video install and quick overview of the one JB ROM available for the tf300.

Its JB HyDRO ROM. Much faster and smoother than stock JB.

Root or not Root ...

I would like to root my TF700 but at same time I do not want to loose my warranty. in this forum, I found a thread saying that rooting doesn't void the warranty and another thread saying the contrary.
On Asus France facebook page, somebody asked Asus if the root would void the warranty and Asus answered yes. And another person (not from Asus) said : "we all know that rooting the software has huge impact on hardware issues, on keyboard for example"
I just don't know what to think about that and i hesitate to root my TF700 while I would like to.
What is your opinion on that ? Is that man right about impact on hardware issues ?
Thanks
Rooting doesn't void warranty. Unlocking the bootloader does.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Well Asus says exactly the contrary... Do you have any real reason to explain why rooting cannot void warranty ?

I would put this way, rooting allowed you to gain additional access to the STOCK rom (kind of safe because worst case, you have soft brick), on the other hand unlock bootloader allows you to replace the stock rom , the kernel and recovery with your own which can cause damage to the device and can brick your phone.
Thanks man
One more question : isit possible that i damaged the hardware of my tf700 with rooting but without unlocking ?

nope perfectly safe and I recommend you do it. You have nothing but more gain! Very safe and super easy. With just root I can make my tab working smoothly as I want.
I was hesitant to root initially.
Then I said heck on it and rooted.
With a few tweaks the tab is doing much better in my opinion.
Which tweaks are you speaking about?

Hi, do you mind sharing how you set your System Tuner? I've just downloaded it and there are so many options there. I have no idea where to start
Thank you.

No problem
If your rooted tap the CPU option then look above the freq sliders.
You'll see "gov." on the left. Tap gov. Then choose yer poison should be: interactive, conservative, performance...etc.
You can push the sliders all the way right too.
The battery doesn't last very long and the tablet will hit around 140 degrees when set on performance.
I've also got mine on the recommended advanced tweaks in the system control options.
I'm not any kind of expert with the settings either...just found a few things dabbling around.
Be careful and have a blast!

@OP - rooting does not void your warranty. Even if Asus were to deny any warranty coverage to a rooted product (which I don't think they do), rooting is always reversible, so as long as you unroot before sending it to them, they would never know it was ever rooted... I think that's why most people say that rooting does not void the warranty - simply because it can be un-done. Technically, Asus will probably tell you that it does void the warranty (as you've seen), but if you unroot before sending it to them, then there will be no issue.

Do you know what does the recommended advanced tweaks ? Is it tweaks specific to the tf700 or more general android optimization ?
Moreover are you using the free or pro version of System Tuner ? On my tablet it's asking pro version to use that option.

I'm really not qualified to answer about specific tweaks under advanced options.
I just trusted and tried the recommended setting...there are quite a few tweak sliders.
I did notice in some cases good things: specifically less browser crashing.
Since Sys Tuner is used across many devices the Sys Ctrl option tweaks are for the Android kernel.
No telling at this point what a 4.1 update will do to this app.
Did notice the developer made some changes in the late versions concerning JellyBean.
I think the changes were aimed at the Nexus 7 owners.
I bought the pro app for 4 bucks it's one of my favorites.
I actually started using it when I had the A700, it was recommended by another user to watch the temps on that tablet.
I started liking it so I just paid for it.
Ran it un-rooted for a while, then I started wanting see what root access would give me.
So I went ahead and rooted.
I have to say it's the app that caused me to root...
My problem is I can't leave anything alone...
Hope I don't end up cooking my tablet if I do Asus will make more LOL

Thanks for that! I set it to Performance, there is a small difference I think, in overall responsiveness. I'll leave it this way for a while and then switch back to see if in my day to day usage the difference justifies the battery drain.

Whats the difference in kernels?

There are two kernels, mystical and clesmyn that work for the infinity, and both look to work with JB. Whats the difference between them?

1.The clesmyn is more advance and actively updating, it should works well with the best rom called "Clean Rom", including the ability to over clock/undervolt (coming soon, under testing), over clocked GPU (graphic) to 650.
2. The mystical kernel is just pure stock with no other features except for these 2: able to change screen density and carrier.
So the mystical will not provide any performance gain, but the clesmyn will.

Is overclocking worth it?

Ok so I'm a bit new to the community in terms of tablet hardware and wanted to understand the concept of overclocking now from what I've heard the Asus tf300t has the capability to be increased to 1.5ghz it's stock is 1.3 I believe so my question is:
what are the basic benefits of overclocking.
How do you go about doing it? (app, or what not)
What damages can be done if done incorrectly. (boot loop or brick)
If this isn't the right place to post this direct me to someplace better please! Thank you!

You'll need to flash another Kernal. There are various guides on this forum depending on what firmware you're on
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
Benefit is basically making your tablet faster and smother under heavy tasks such as gaming. Light tasks wont be affected much.
In order to over clock, you need custom kernel and a software that allows you to over clock or under clock. My favorite is set CPU which is paid ( there are tons of CPU app)
If you over clock too much, tablet will become very unstable and also CPU can overheat much easier which can lead to hardware failure. I recommend you to overclock up to 1.6 max if you ever gonna over clock.

I second this when playing games. I do also see a very slight difference in normal day to day use. Just dont overvolt, that i heard is bad for the chip and greatly shortens the length of the chip. Overclocking isnt as bad for it.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk 2
Ah ok so you do need a custom kernel/rom in order to gain access to overclocking. Well I've had problems before with flashing custom roms(soft bricked) and I'm kinda hesitant about it but I mean I've ran emulation on 1.3ghz and it runs smooth like for epsxe. I guess it's a matter of preference really?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
I think that it is worth to unlock if you use a 1tb hard disk. It is more useful to overlock GPU as it will boost your perfomance in UI and games.

Overclock improved my tablet experience
When I was running cleanrom 3.4.1 and Unters TF300T 10.4.4.25 Kernel I had it O/C'ed to 1.6.
The ui and games like beach buggy blitz , dead trigger ran noticeably smoother .
Now I'm bac on stock android 4.2.1 from Asus website its nowhere near as smooth probably not even as smooth as stock 4.1.2 imo.
ya im on cm10.1 at the moment. over clocked to 1.6ghz currently. i find whether it was clean rom 3.4.4 or cm10.1 1.6ghz seems to be my tablets sweet spot. with my tablet and dock together on cm10.1 i have lasted like 4 days unplugged laying around with daily use for alittle bit. grand theft auto final fantasy dead trigger. all play so smooth.
Tergrak over clock let's you over clock any ROM, you don't need a custom ROM or kernel just root. Its on the play store.

+1 for overclocking. You can run the tablet at the lower speeds to save the battery when just messing around but you have the option to turn it up when needed. I overclock every device I own if possible. :good:

Help choosing ROM

OK, my problem is I can't decide what ROM is best for me, And I'd rather not spend time trying them all out when I have all you beautiful people who can give me their input. The two ROMs I've used are cm10 and liquid smooth. The issue is though cm10 hasn't had any real bugs for me yet, it isn't as fast or smooth as liquid smooth is. But liquid smooth although faster, seemed to be a bit more buggy. So I'm looking for a ROM that's stabile and not too buggy' but is also smooth and fast. I don't need a ton of customization but a small to decent amount would be nice and a few nice features wouldn't hurt but neither of those are necessary. . What ROMs would you guys suggest for me and if possible why. Thanks ahead of time.

I suggest Cromi. Plain and simple. It has its small bugs of course, considering it is based upon stock. However, the support for it is fantastic and it comes with many options. I am looking forward to 4.2.1. The tf300 got the option to switch between layouts of 4.1 and 4.2 and I think that is great of ASUS to come out with, and when ASUS released 4.2.1 for the TF700, I am sure sbdags will keep that implemented. With 4.2.1 I am sure will come some more smoothness and stability. CM is smooth, but does not seem as fast as Cromi. It also depends on the launcher and settings you have.
Good Luck on your choice.

There is no "best" per say. Each has its ups and downs. I however prefer Cromi over other because it is stocked based and it still has the 4.1.1 tablet UI. Also, since Cromi has the most users, feedback and stability will be best. It is a matter of your choice in the end. Just try it out, you can always nandroid backup your current and try out others.
However, 3.4.5 just came out and I would wait. I personally am experiencing problems ATM and trying to figure it out. Problem currently (March 21 2013) seems to revolve around the new Cromi Boot Logo. So when in options just choose the Stock or Nexus 7 Boot logo instead.
Tylor
Thanks for the help, I'll try both, see which I like more. Finally be able to settle down and not keep switching between ROMs like I have.
