I need to retrieve the raw partitions off of my Nexus S (userdata and sdcard). fastboot seems to allow writing raw data to the NAND, but not reading. Are there any tools that allow saving the NAND over USB or WIFI?
adb pull path

That doesn't pull the raw sectors.

Can you see the contents of your SD card from a computer? Are you on a rooted device? Are you using a rom? Are you using a kernel? What version of CWM are you on, if you have it?

I can only see the files the system creates. I cannot view any of my personal files. No i am not rooted.

Sometimes it is the sdcard...if you have an android phone, can you see your files in the phone? You can try a different card or you can try to format that card in an android phone (saving your files elsewhere 1st, of course), or you can try to use a utility on your computer, I think it's a Panasonic formater (you could do a search on formating micro sdcards for use in the Xoom here in these fora).
Good luck!
Hey all i was just wondering how one can backup all internal memory before i try to flash my SR? I've got the paid version of titanium backup but don't know if i can use that or if i should just target a certain directory when its plugged into my PC? I tried a search before posting but didn't see anything initially.
nvm, going to start and i don't care about backing up internal.
Just connect to computer and when internal folder pops up copy and paste to a backup folder.

So I use use this phone as a play phone since I have a Skyrocket. That being said i really dont want to get negitive comments.
So I accidentally reformmatted the SD card when i was going to update the rom from a 4.1 to a 4.2
The issue that I'm having now is that the phone won't be read by the computer. I've tried 2 different things.
Mounting the usb so I can move over the ROM files and re flash. Didn't work since the computer won't read the phone
Tried using ADB to push the files but same issue. ADB doesn't recognize the phone when plugged in. I plugged in my Skyrocket and ADB recognized it.
Yes I have the drivers installed and to be safe reinstalled them. I'm running everything up to date and can't seem to find a solution for my problem.
If anyone has a solution or give me any other idea I would appreciate it.

Can you mount usb from within clockworkmod recovery?
I tired but my computer doesn't read the phone. Uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled and still no luck.

Try the pda net drivers here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9861928 if you haven't already.

I used the Samsung toolbox program and on that you can do a temp boot thing then mount SD card and put stuff like backup back on SD card.

Put phone in fastboot mode and flash Google image. This should fix your phone.

Guys I can't erase system partition completely by using sachin Thomas method. I was using mini cm10 at 878mhz. I am getting "cant erase bad block at 0x'some address'. Can anyone point me how to erase that.....
BTW I can still boot.

Use cute_prince’s method. It's longer but has a higher probability of recovery when there are many bad blocks. Erase mtd3 (system) instead of mtd4 and mtd5

Exactly. That's no good reason for it
need to modify some nv item values
Is there a chance those image files are encrypted? I'm thinking that it would be a security hole if you could tamper with the info contained within and then restore the modded image file in recovery. The image partitions would likely be formatted as ext4 so any Linux system should be able to mount such a partition.

The partitions are raw emmc format. Can't think of a legal reason to mod these. Its not like samsung where these files need fixing
